Chapter 14: Emptiness

Previous Chapter

“You are not crazy. You are just a victim to your madness.”

“It all has to end up this way...one way or another doesn’t it?” Her voice fills your mind with anger as you return back to consciousness. Strapped to a wheelchair; your hands and legs were bound by tight leather belts as you were being wheeled through the hallway the White Coats brought you through. Where was Celestia? She couldn’t have gone up and vanish? Only you and Pinkamena remained, your new warden was bringing you through the dark corridors where the remains of skewered soldiers either eviscerated or headless remained in the hall.

Why was this so hard to get use to the sight of the dead? It was a feast for flies and if you did not survive this ordeal, you might be on their next course. Pinkamena leaned down and bit the side of your right ear, playfully licking the inner lobe, either lapping at the dry blood or sharing the remains of her own with you. She reek, her breath for most part seemed like it met a different course, something malodorous and taboo.

“I can feel it…” She whispered. “I can still taste you in my mouth. Oh sister…” Your eyes widened, the mood had only darken when she whispered into your ear. This had to be some trick, a jest for her to make you lose your mind even further. “I miss you so much.” You opened your mouth to protest, but her hand found its way first to you, keeping it shut and muffled.

“We’re almost there.” But where? You were beginning to panic, not sure where she was guiding you. You struggle to get out of your restraints, but it was no good. They were strap to you tightly and Pinkamena only made the situation worse.

She removed her hand from your mouth and stopped before an elevator. When she clicked the button, nothing happened. A frown appeared on her face, never trust a frown on a psychopath, you reminded yourself. She clicked the button again, a few more times, before punching it in aggravation.

“No! No! NO! You can’t take her from me! She’s mine!”

You started to struggle again, while her back was turn. You started to feel the restraints in your wrist finally loosen. If only you could get them off without her attention being noticed fast. It would allow you to free your legs and make a run for it. She started to weep, this wasn’t going to turn out good for you one bit.

The weeping became snarls, and soon the snarls formed into ruthless headbanging as Pinkamena started to slam her skull into the steel doors. She was mad. She lost it! You were beginning to panic and when you finally broke out of the bounds, you rushed to free your feet. The belts were tight, gladly they didn’t numb your feet any sooner or escaping would have been impossible. You free one foot and soon the next and finally you were onto your feet slowly. However, the chair was bumped back and the weak wheels squeaked. Pinkamena paused, her body turned to you quickly.

Her eyes were red with her blood dripping down her face and her grin was mad and wide. You couldn’t even tell if her tears were red or just soaking against her cheeks. You didn’t give her a head start, you turned and ran down the hall from where you came, unsure now where it would lead you.

“COME BACK HERE! GIVE ME BACK MY SISTER!” Pinkamena shouted, running towards you with a baton in hand.

Your heart was racing, the hallway was so long, there were barely any obstacles around to slow her down. She moved at a fast pace, catching up to you within a heartbeat. You needed a corridor to turn to, something to hop over, some door that was open that you can shut in her face to slow her down. There was one hope left in this, one last bit of hope that you were almost close to screaming about. The elevator, another one with a metal fence opened wide. The light inside flicker, but it had to do, it had to work!

“You won’t leave me!” A strong blow collided to the back of your head as you stumbled down and slid against the white floor. You were dazed, but you found yourself inside of the elevator. You pressed your hands against the wall, trying to get yourself up, the sound of the fence from behind you closed, and all hope had abandoned you in that second. You turned to see her, that mad face, before that pink hand grabbed you by the throat pressing you against the wall.

You refused to let her win, with the best of your power, your right fist met the side of her face, before quickly pushing her out of the elevator. The blow luckily stunned her, giving you a few seconds to close the fence and press up. Pinkamena regained her senses and cursed you as her baton struck the fence in a fit of rage. She couldn’t get to you now, you were safe.

Your heart was racing, the tension that build up slowly settled down as the slow elevator ascended. You held onto the walls for leverage. Your body was in too much pain after that blow. When the Elevator stopped on the main floor, you lay your eyes upon the exit. There it was, past a few corpses that littered the floor. This was your hope, all of Pinkamena’s main goons were dead, that you were positive of. You opened the fence and began limping towards the exit, looking left and right to remember this atrocious place, but deep down you did not want to. Deep down you wanted it to be forgotten in the back of your school.

You reached the doors, they were not chained like the last ones where the Tall Man appeared before you. These doors opened, you couldn’t help but laugh out the madness in being alive after all this time. Finally, you felt wind, you saw the dusk begin to surface in the sky. You did it, you thought.

Pinkamena would have a hard time catching you once you are far away from this shithole. The doors were open and you took your first step outside only to feel a sharp pain past your shoulder and left leg followed by two loud pops. You fell forward, not even close to the steps when blood ran down your arm and leg. You couldn’t help but scream in agony as you turned your head to see Celestia covered in bruises with a snub-nosed revolver in her hand.

No, you thought, no! You tried to crawl away, using one hand to pull you forward, but Celestia was too strong, grabbing you by the heel as she dragged you back into the hellish asylum. You were so close, there was a vehicle or two you could have taken, and the gates were wide open with a view of the Everfree! You wanted to cry, but your tears of despair were replaced with pain.

“Today was never your day! You hear me!?” She pulled you to the side to face her, pressing the muzzle of the gun against your chin where you could feel hot metal burn against your skin. You winced, but she pressed on with anger, venomous and unstable than it originally was before. “Today was her day, it was Luna’s birthday, and I will have her back!” Celestia pulled back the hammer, you used your only good hand to cover your face.

Two hands clamped around the warden’s face suddenly, pink and covered in blood as it pulled Celestia back. Pinkamena rescued you, struggling to get a hold of Celestia who thrashed around shouting “Bitch!” and “Cunt!” But Pinkamena did not let go with any attempt. You took it upon your chance to get up to your best of your abilities and limp towards the exit. Your leg throbbed in agony next to your shoulder, but you couldn’t stop. Your life depended on it.

Another shot rang out, this time the bullet hit you from behind knocking you over by surprise as you stumbled down in front of the door, and you were so close you couldn’t help but pray to die quickly than be alive enough to suffer in this hell. You accepted it, you accepted your sins, and now this was a test that you could not accomplish.

Pinkamena was toss in front of you, struggling to get up only to have Celestia’s foot pressed onto her back, forcing her to the floor. Celestia shut the door and grit her teeth in your direction. “I have no time for this shit.” Celestia said before firing a round into Pinkamena’s back causing her to cry out and go stiff. The psychopath could run fast and hit hard, but when faced with a gun, the gun always wins.

You didn’t know if you felt lucky enough she was dead or bad, but Celestia didn’t give you time to think. She aimed her revolver at you this time. It was over, you thought. You were finally able to die.

When she pulled the trigger, everything went black and the distant sound of the gunshot echoed in the darkness. But something felt off, you felt light instead of numb. You felt hot instead of cold, the fact you could feel destroyed your judgment of death. But that gunshot that echoed in the loud distant suddenly changed to Celestia pleading for mercy, but to who? You listened closely...just a bit...as you experience this odd sensation that death bestowed upon you.

“No...it can’t be...this isn’t Luna...no, you’re not my sister! NOO!” Another shot echoed, before Celestia’s blood curdling scream bellowed in the darkness. When all was silent, you could only feel one thing and that was the unsettling conclusion of emptiness.
