Chapter 1: War Zone
A foot stepped in a puddle. Water splashed in the rain, as a man was running from the law.
"Come out, you are completely surrounded. Please do not make this hard on yourself.
"There are fourteen, thirteen foot cops, one sniper."
"Yeah, thanks."
"No problem."
The man took off his doo-rag, revealing hair, white as snow, and then his glasses, revealing eyes, red as blood. Devin Raven was on the run, he listened to the voice, he killed that killer.
Too bad he did it in front of a woman. Now, there were several cops after him.
A usual day in his 'work' day.
"Time to get ready."
"Wound, they are not killers."
"Sure thing." Devin took out a PDR-C, a Personal Defence Weapon, and cocked it.
"Glad Magpul came out with this, it can do it's job well." Devin walked to the sirens, and came out. The officer soon pulled out his handgun, and a megaphone.
"Sir, put down the weapon now, you are under arrest. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say and/or do may be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to consult an attorney before speaking to the police and to have an attorney present during questioning now or in the future. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed for you before any questioning, if you wish. If you decide to answer any questions now, without an attorney present, you will still have the right to stop answering at any time until you talk to an attorney. Knowing and understanding your rights as I have explained them to you, are you willing to answer my questions without an attorney present?"
Devin looked at them for a minute, and saw the sniper.
"Metal Storm type sniper, can penetrate these cars easy."
"I got it." He answered both the officer and the voice in his head. "But I don't care." He then brought up his gun a fired a round into the officer's leg. He fired a few more rounds, wounding 5 officers. The other 7 grabbed the wounded and moved to cover. Devin found an AR15 on the ground, dropped by one of the officers, picked it up while rolling to cover, and fired at the sniper, hitting the scope. The scope pushed into the sniper's eye, giving him a black eye, and a useless scope.
"Well, that was a lucky shot." He threw down the gun and aimed his PDW at the other cops, right before going into one the cars himself, and driving off.
"All officers, we have a F-Thirty-One, stolen police car, report any fast moving patrol cars and give chase, suspect is armed and dangerous!"
"Now for some fun."
"Hey, nigga, you there?"
"Don't call me that." The leader said.
"But, you a nigga."
"Yeah, but I ain't letting myself be your kind."
"What? What are..."
"Sargant, if you don't quiet down, I will hold you for subordination."
The soldier piped up. Chris sighed, hating that word used by the black men.
Chris Walter was the captain of the squad, a leader amongst men. It suited him, being a former quarterback in college football. He wasn't dumb either, straight A+ student. He just didn't like to brag.
He let his bros do the bragging for him.
But he himself hated the racial notion, all men were the same, they were human.
But racism still existed, and he wanted to get out of it.
Not that it'd help.
The carrier bay door opened, revealing a battlefield to conquer all other battlefields of horror.
The USA and China had some major economic disputes, many very serious. Primarily, China getting skimped on payment, in spite of potential action. Soon the two were at war, and Japan saw this as an attempt at revenge, and promptly took action, in favor of China. Russia, angry at both countries, sided with the US. Taiwan, seeing this as a threat, sided with China and Japan. Canada joined what was now known as the Correlation. The Asian countries became known as the Retaliation, and the two factions were now fighting a war almost as big as World War I.
Chris, being a black, bald man in China, was a very easy target, or so he thought. In reality, he was no more easier to find than anyone else in this war zone. They were all too busy hiding behind cover, or running to someplace else.
Chris and his black brethren were gonna do the same.
"All right my brothers, MOVE MOVE MOVE!!!"
This was a war, a war on many fronts.
Meanwhile, on the northwestern front, a man with a machine gun was ready to defend a critical point along a defensive line.
*Private First Class Viktor Raskolnikov, are you ready?*
*Yes."
*Good, lock and load.*
Viktor did so, and aimed down his sights, while taking a deep breath.
When they breach the barrier, he would show them that he didn't need a weapon to fight.
Soon enough, the tanks came.
*Bring out the RPGs!*
Several soldiers took out RPG-32s, and aimed at the armor.
*On my orders, fire!* The officer yelled.
*This might be a case of Blitzkrieg, commissar.*
*If it is, private, then General Winter shall make sure it falls apart before we do.*
Viktor aimed down his PKPM "Pecheneg", and was ready.
...
...
*FIRE!!!*
Rockets flew, and hit the tanks. Many were stopped, others crippled. Chinese soldiers were running towards the line, and machine gun fire was soon tearing apart the soldiers. Many were smart enough to run to cover.
Viktor, merely waited for someone to think he was safe, then pulled the trigger. Three rounds in his chest, four in his leg, 2 in his head, five in his stomach, many fell before him and his patience.
*click*'
But like many things in life, it was not to last. He ran out of ammo, and a few soldiers ambushed him.
As the aimed their rifles at him, he stood up. At a hefty 2.03 meters high, Viktor far overshadowed the 1.78 meter high soldiers. He grabbed one and threw toward the gunfire. He saw the other try and make a break for it, but reached out.
AIIIGH...
The troop opened his eyes and had a look of horror as he saw a bloodied hand, holding out a beating heart, his beating heart. He quickly lost consciousness, and died of shock.
*Thank God for these cybernetic implants.*
Viktor looked to see his gun, freshly reloaded by a fellow comrade. He would thank him after the battle was won, the enemy was approaching, it was no last stand, but it was a strong one.
Devin had done it, he had escape the police using their own helicopters. He had a parachute, and drifted down to his next stop, Youngstown.
Youngstown, Ohio was bad, even before the world broke down, but now, it was complete chaos. Whatever honest lawman was there is either dead, retiring to a shitty elder life, or over-worked.
A perfect home for a vigilante like him.
"Well well, this must be the next stop."
"We won't have trouble here, not enough law enforcement."
"Who's first?"
"Drug cartels first, then the racist gangbangers."
"Sounds like a plan."
He took out a Five-seveN pistol, checked the magazine, cocked the slide, and moved into the wretched hive of crime and debauchery.
"Hello, are you there?"
"Wha..."
"Hey, what's this assho' doin' here?"
"I dunno, but he wearin' commie clothes, nigga."
Hell of a year to be wearing my CCCP shirt. At least the duster makes it look bitchin'.
"Awwww hell naw, let's cap this commie."
"Nope." Devin simply said, taking out his carbine and shooting the two gangsters. He had made his first mark, but...
"Please, listen to me!"
"Who the fuck..."
"Meet me outside of town, now!"
"Fine then, but you crazy." Devin was silent for a few seconds. "I like it!"
"Just get here quickly."
Devin shrugged, and walked there, shooting at anyone stupid enough to pick a fight with him. Needless to say, it took him longer than his latest contact would've liked. He was soon out of the city, and he soon met the woman. She was a tall one, 6'0', and had strange colored hair, cyan and pink and teal... Probably some strange-ass hair dye.
"So, who are you, and how the fuck did you enter my head?"
"Questions to be answered later."
"Oh for..."
Devin was soon facing the barrel of a 44., held in the left hand of the woman.
"You pull out the gun, and you might end up in a morgue." She said in a serious tone.
Devin was genuinely surprised at that, but soon laughed it up.
"Man, for a woman, you got some huuuuuuge balls!" Devin held out his arms, emphasizing the reaction of the woman.
"Listen, have you ever heard of planet Equis?"
"What, that strange world full of human-animal hybrid freaks? Yeah, I heard of it."
"Well, I'm one of the leaders of said planet, Princess Celestia."
Devin looked at her like she was crazy. He was crazy himself, but that was a bit much.
"You're shittin' me."
"I do not. The planet has a magical field in it's general vicinity, anything that's human, or, at the very least, humanoid, will become those 'hybrids' you speak of."
"Yeah, magic. And I'm JFK." Devin sat down on the ground, smirking.
"Listen, how would you like to see for yourself what the place is like?"
Devin was silent for a few minutes, before shrugging.
"What should I do?"
"You should do it, my feeling is that you'll get something out of it that will end this madness."
"Alright, I'll do it, but you have to give me something in return." Devin jumped to his feet, and popped his neck.
"Very well, drink this." Celestia produced a drink, which Devin drank down quickly.
"What's this stuff?" He said with a belch.
"It'll make you pass out."
"Oh. Say whaaaaa..." Devin fell down and was out cold before he hit the ground.
"My my... that was easier than I expected. Twilight, you ready to pick us up?"
"Yes Princess. Are you sure this is the right thing to do?"
"Twilight, these humans are this close to invading our world, and making it into a nightmare, we need heroes. I will go to China next to get a soldier there."
"Fine. Be safe."
"I will." Celestia teleported Devin to planet Equis, and teleported herself to the battlefield where she'll get the next person on her list.
Chris looked around. Sniper just offed one of his squad members. They had to find the man before he offed another person.
"AHG!"
*BRRR*
As Chris heard the boom of the sniper shot, he fell to the ground. The bullet his stomach. If he was rushed to the hospital, he could live.
If only it were that simple.
"AHHH... Dammit..." The pain was excruciating. Even an adrenaline rush could not reduce the pain he had.
"Hold on, I..." Just like that, the soldier went down, a headshot.
"You have got to be..." Chris soon began to blinded by something.
"Do not worry, I will help you."
"Wha..." Before he knew it, the light vanished, and he ended up in an abandoned building. He found his waist bandaged up, and saw a woman wipe the blood from her hands.
"You know, for a man, you have a remarkable amount of willpower to live."
"Who the HELL are you?"
"I am the one who saved you."
"Yeah, thanks. Man, what the hell are you doing here, it's a damn warzone."
"Yes, it is." She replied simply.
"How are you calm in a world like this? Only really small towns these days are calm, and they still have people panicking."
"Well, I do not come from Earth."
"What?" Chris stood, surprised that he didn't feel a pang of pain in his gut.
"You may have noticed that your bullet is no longer inside you, and that you are... relatively fine."
"How..."
"Magic." Celestia let the magic glow from her hand. Chris shook his head, and pointed an accusing finger at the princess.
"I call bullshit! You drugged me or something."
"Tell me, you ever heard of Equis?"
"That planet of freaks? Yeah, what about it?"
"I need you to come with me there."
"...Say what? Nah, I ain't going nowhere." Chris began to move away, grabbing his assault rifle on the way out.
"I figured you say that." Celestia used a basic knock-out spell on Chris, who then fell down to the floor.
"I'm sorry that had to have happen, but Equestria, and Equis, and Earth needs you." Celestia used her magic to teleport Chris to Equestria, and teleported to the Russian-Chinese border to pick the last person up.
Viktor looked over the dead bodies. Many suplexed into submission, others with necks snapped as well. The commissar came to the gunner, and patted him on the back.
*Great job, Specialist Raskolnikov.*
*Speci... T-thank you commissar! It is a great honor!*
*Yes, it is.* The commissar turned towards the battlefield. The Chinese lost their ammunition first, then the Russians. After some major fighting, both generals agreed to a temporary truce to pick up the dead and send them back to their families. Viktor knew that all of the enemy soldiers were going to become ashes, but his fallen comrades, he was not sure.
*Viktor, to quote a general from the 1910's, 'War is Hell.' Tell me, is this Hell, or is it worse?*
Viktor was silent. He did not enjoy killing. Shooting them was bad enough, but to rip out that man's heart, he felt that his soul was closer to going to Hell itself even more now that he done it.
*Hell, would be heaven.* He replied.
*...Well, maybe you are exaggerating a little.*
*I... guess you are right.* The two walked back to the barracks, there they would debrief. There, they would finish the logistics of the battle.
*342 dead, 710 wounded. And that is just the battle alone, my friend. Imagine how the war will end.*
*With America and China in economic ruins, leaving a country, or continent like South America to take over them.*
*Sounds about right.* The officer took his cigar and took another puff. He offered one to Viktor, but he refused it.
*Tell me, should we even let you stay?*
*Comrade, you seen what I did.*
*I've seen what your cybernetic implants did, not your muscles, or your actual strength.*
*You doubt me, even after we won that fantastic battle?*
*Yes.* The officer said.
*Pff... you know I am needed.*
*I do, the question is...*
*Raskolnikov, we have someone here to meet you.*
*Who? I know no one but my family.*
*This woman knows you, and she'd like to speak to you, in English.*
*... Warn her that my English is poor at the very least.* Viktor sat up straight.
"Very well. Come on in right here, ma'am."
Viktor saw who wanted to see him, a woman, with flowing hair like the aurora of the north and south pole. Immediately, he knew that she wasn't human, originally.
"So, tell me, who are you?"
"I am Princess Celestia of Equestria, a country of the planet Equis."
"I expected you to be more... pony-like." Viktor got up, clearly seeing that he was taller than the mare.
"Magical fields, they affect the DNA structure of the human body..."
"Resulting in becoming... ponies, is that how it is done?"
"That is the basic idea of it, yes."
"So, you came here to make me join you?"
"I have allowed you to do this, if only to gather intel of the basic chance that these ponies might aid in our war." The commissar said. Viktor looked thoughtful for a moment, but he knew the answer already.
"I will join you, for the motherland." Viktor raised his fist to his eyes, letting Celestia fully know how he was ready to do whatever it takes.
"Excellent. You may follow me through this portal." Celestia summoned a portal, a rift to Equis, and Equestria.
"Tell me, is portal..."
"You will feel nauseous, but that's about it."
"Thank you. Let us go."
Celestia nodded and the two walked through the portal to Equestria. Viktor saw his hands and feet change, his face began to contort and change. When he walked to the other side, he found that he was one of them.
"Welcome to Equestria, Viktor."
Celestia was covered head to toe in white fur. She had a horn and wings. Viktor began to feel his head, and then his back. Nothing. He looked at his hands, and found that his fur was a pale blue.
"So, this is what it is like to be pony. It is... unusual, to say the least."
"Yes, it is. There are two others as well. You my visit them soon enough."
"Alright." Viktor simply said, letting Celestia guide him.
He would find out his purpose here soon enough.
