It is the present, and we see the Everfree Forest being poured on by rain. Despite it being close to nighttime, there are very few creatures out in the open. Suddenly, hoofsteps can be heard, as a brown, strong, male Pegasus, walks down a muddied path through the middle of the forest. He whimpers as he walks, obviously being conflicted with unwanted and unhappy memories, probably from a recent conflict. The stallion's name is Kodi.

Kodi continues walking ever so quickly, his heart starting to race as he tries to fight back his emotions, and to keep at bay his recent memories. He increased his pace, and despite breaking out into deep sobs and painful, nostalgic moans, Kodi relentlessly endures to continue walking, as if somehow walking aimlessly through barren land would clear his mind of the unwanted recollections of the past few weeks.

At last, after several minutes,  Kodi gave up and settled down near a makeshift cave, which is held up by compact walls of dirt. His heart is full of mourning and lament, not trying to hold back his tears. He knows that nopony is around to hear him, and that it would be best if he gave in.

He shouts out barbaric sounds ranging from simple moans to screams of anguish, with his face is covered by tears and rain alike. Kodi finally settles down after several minutes, and though no longer yelling, he is still weeping. After a few moments, he looks up at the night sky, at the moon, and at the stars, quietly cooing the words "Derpy... Why Derpy?" before burying his head in his forelegs .
