King Sombra was a tyrant. There's no questioning that; he was a brutal and callous evil incarnate. Nopony living under his rule was happy. Though it's a stretch, I'd say that I was the only exception. But "happy" may be a poor choice of words. Not living in total fear, a warm bed and three meals a day seemed like the better lifestyle compared to the others back in the day.

But there was one condition: I had to be the personal steward of King Sombra.
