    We shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender.

    ~~

    Hours. Long hours had passed. The two princesses sat alone in the halls of the ancients. Many a scroll sat dusty in the apertures stretching down the long, narrow hallway. But the princesses cared not for these.

    At the end of this hallway, a large, silver and titanium portal lay, awaiting to be opened for the first time in millennia. The door at the end of this hallway could lead to the ultimate survival of Equestria, or the ultimate destruction. Holding an ancient spell that could only be used by the two Alicorns. The parchment was laden with a heavy codex of complex material that no mortal mind could comprehend. The dangers of this scroll are far to dangerous to understand, and this scroll mustn't be used, except in the most dire situations.

    But that it was.

    The sun Goddess looked over to her sister, who replied with a slow nod. They both sat up, and stretched their limbs. Many weeks had passed since the Changeling and the Gryphon Nations had declared war upon Equestria. Many colonies on the outer borders of Equestria had been savaged and burned, leaving not a single pony alive. It had all happened to fast, confusing all of ponydom.

    There has been a few attacks upon Canterlot itself, all of which had failed miserably. The last attempt for control had occurred last week, with the army of changelings marching upon Canterlot, and the griffins leading a winged assault from above. Over fifty of the goddess precious ponies had been brutally slaughtered, raped and tortuered. For them, this was the last straw. The Royal Guard as a whole could not match the swarming numbers of the two nations combined, and their skill was divided among three races. This left weak points in Equestria's army. If the enemy severed a certain pony race from a platoon, then the adjourning race of the enemy could easily overtake the guards.

    The sound of hooves echoed thoughout the long hallway as the princesses stalked through them. For any normal pony, the depictions lining the walls would have been an incredible sight to behold. Millennia old paintings portrayed scenes from the two royal sister's reign. From the begging of the Celestial Age, to the dawn of the nightmare. The portraits grew newer as the forms of royalty descended the hallway. Images of the Elements of Harmony defeating evils and redeeming loathsome ponies from jealousy and hate took the places of older artworks entirely.

    The beauty of the balls was drones out from the weight of current events, and the sorrowful depression from the princesses. Bright and colorful lamps that once shone bright over Equestria, now dimmed a dull gray, dampening the mood even more. The jewels in the Alicorns Regalia once glowing vibrant colors, now had lost its beauty entirely.

    The echoing came to a deafening stop, leaving only the annoying ringing of silence in the princesses ears.

    The two sisters had hoped it would not come to this. They had tried to take the peaceful approach, but were bluntly refused. The sun goddess sighed deeply, showing a shaking nervousness in her actions. Never had she thought that she would be standing in front of this door.

    The dexterous door glowed a faint white around the edges, leaving a false expression of happiness in the room. The door itself consisted of a deep shade of blue, contrasting with the lighter colors of elegant carvings aligning the door perfectly. In the center, between the large split in the door, sat the Equestrian Royal Seal. A large circle displaying the two goddesses flying flat around their respective celestial bodies.

    Two large holes sat on either side of the seal, entry points for Alicorn horns. The Alicorns dipped sir heads low, aligning their horns with the slots inside the heavy door. In perfect unison, their horns were thrusted into the door. The golden glow surrounding the carvings grew a dark crimson, and slowly dripped along the curves of the statuettes. The glow crept its way to the holes on the door, and seeped inside. The holes immediately flashed a deep, midnight blue as the locks deactivated. Old mechanisms could be heard grinding in the bowls of the gateway. A seem of light crept into the gloomy hallway as the heavy doors crept open slowly.

    The interior of the room was large. Elegant, spiraling pillars of weight stretched on all sides of the chamber, supporting the weight of the ceiling. Dotting the walls were heavy, stained glass windows showing memorous moments from the Alicron sisters reign. But this windows were magical, and changed with the mood. They now stood a dull black, showing no images at all. Magnificent chandeliers hung high in the ceiling, bathing the room in light. Or, that's what they were supposed to do. The light was now glowing faintly, barely illuminating the smallest of spaces in the room. Being immortal ponies, however, the princesses could make out every detail of the chamber, light or not.

    In the center of the ancient room, stood a large, crystal pillar, emitting a light blue glow, displaying its contents above. In a magical blue aura, held by no pony, but also held by many, floated a crinkly, coarse scroll. The sun goddess levitated the container of ancient text from the angelic, blue glow, and held it in front of herself and her sister.

    Many ancient symbols dotted the scroll, many fades by millennia of decay. Splitting the scroll in two, sat the Seal of Shadows. For this scroll was black magic, a forbidden art that Starswirl himself could not achieve. An art so dangerous, yet so frail. Once decision to decide the fate of thousands, the lives of millions.

    The midnight Alicorn charged a dark beam from her horn, and shot it into the center of the seal. Immediately, the splotches and faint decay of the scroll was relieved, revealing a clean and brisk piece of destruction. So beautiful was it, but frightening more so. The Alicorns lit their horns, and relayed the symbols to the magicka holds deep within their subconscious. Their horns grew brighter as they finished conjuring the spell. A deafening boom erupted in the room as two beams of bright light beamed from the horns of the Alicorns. The beams collided within midair, and redirected themselves toward the crystal at the center of the room. The beams of light traveled faster than the eye could see, and slammed into the blue crystal, immediately turning it a dep black and red.

    Particles glowed faintly in the air around the dark crystal, leaving the air with a musty aroma. The royal sisters stalked over near the pedestal, nor frightened of its presence, but its power. So many mellenia had passed since the use of such magic, and the folds of the dark shadows were eager to be released. The moon goddess remembered this crystal, and knew personally the effects in the case of its failure. She shook the disturbing thoughts out of her mind, and followed suit to Celestia, and neared the crystal.

    The Alicorns stood silent for some time. Gazing deep into the crystals center would drive any mortal insane. Causing them to endure pain rivaling any other. The nightmare would overtake their souls, and turn them into dark, restless demons. That was how the Tale of Nightmare Moon began, the real tale. But that is a story for another time. Perhaps you will know one day.

    Faint, indescribable whispers could be heard drifting from the crystal, asking you, begging you to come closer. The Alicorns stepped back, and charges their horns. A bundle of colors shot from their horns, connecting yet again, but this time, forming a magnificent rainbow. The assortment of colors swirled around the pedestal. The Elements of Harmony had been crafted using similar magic, but that version was altered for peace only. It's magic, for death.

    The rainbow dwelled into the seems of the crystal, erupting the crystal, shattering it into millions of pieces.

    A small, purple orb was left in its place, aloft a few feet off the ground. Shimmering beauty was a good description. A funny thing, magic was. The most ravish beauty found within the most vile of entities.

    Princess Celestia approached the orb, Luna following suit. They sat in silence for a time, depicting their thoughts carefully. A big decision this was, but an easy one non the less. The sun goddess extended a foreleg, and brushed the orb with the edge of her golden hoof. The purple immediately expanded, leaving a larger, more lighter shad elf purple in the shape of a slim countertop.

    A long, impenetrable silence followed. The ringing of silence rattled their ears. It is said if one was to sit in deep thought, in complete silence, and listen, they could hear the voices of the forgotten. They would beg the poor soul to come with them, and relish in the mysterious beauties of the gods. The foolishness would cost one heir sanity, much like the ones of many more before them.

    The silence was broken by the sun goddess,

    "Show us the path to light. The trail to redemption." She commanded the orb. The orb obliged quickly to her commands, as if it already knew her intentions. The images shifted, until morphing into a rather odd scene.

    A large, hilly plains dotted with small mountains in the background appeared into view. A tall, bipedal creature with a very short cut mane lay on its belly in the center of the portrait, cradling a long, bulky metal object in its arms. Celestia looked over to Luna, and reached out her right hoof. Luna responded, and placed a hoof against her sisters, gaining a soft thud.

    Hooves still connected, Celestia reached forth, and sank her hoof into the light.

    I lay back now, on a big, fluffy bed with a heart straining warmth creeping up my chest. After all of my adventures here, I have finally decided to record my experiences here in Equestria. Well, it was mostly Luna's idea, because one day it might actually become a book, she said. I agreed, for I often found myself walking around the castle mumbling to myself in sheer and utter boredom. I also find it very calming to express my feelings into this journal, for I don't need to hide my fears here, this was my domain.

    Maybe now, I can finally find peace. For the first time in many months, I feel as if I can actually relax, loose some tension. You see, as peaceful as Equestria is made out to be, many unthought and gruesome evils have been committed here, by good and bad ponies. I am not proud to say that I was one such pony, or person. I have excuses though. I did it to protect these colorful ponies from their ultimate death, by request of the Princesses themselves.

    Long before my arrival here, I fought in a war. A very hard fought war, bloody and tiresome. Many of my closest childhood friends were killed, and I almost suffered the same fate. My right leg was tore to shreds, hanging on by a slim piece of tissue. The doctors said that it was beyond repair, and I had it amputated. My new bionic leg glittered in the moonlight, making me hint a smile. I was proud of my leg, I didn't need to hide it. I wore it everywhere I went, not like I had a choice. Although with drawbacks, it does increase my stamina and speed, for it isn't real and it doesn't strain like a normal leg would. But we're getting off track.

    I have a feeling that this journal alone won't be able to contain the amount of words I need to put into paper, so expect multiple volumes in the near future. I would really love my computer right now, so I could maybe post it on fimfiction. Strangely, I actually got Internet connection the first time I used my laptop in Equestria. But now the precious machine is lost somewhere in a large cavern that I have absolutely no intention of returning to. Maybe I could actually get a search party from Celestia to look for it, although she probably wouldn't be happy for endangering her guards for something as simple as that. Meh, I will ask her in the morning.

    Oh, maybe I should explain my relationship with the sun goddess. I won't go into much detail, but we had something going, and she pissed me off, bad. She knows it too, and tries to avoid me as much as possible, despite my pleas for friendship.

    Speaking of relationships, that Wonderbolt, Spitfire, apparently had something for me too. I told that crazy mare that I would have none of it, for various reasons, including her weird desires....eww. Anyways, as much as I would love to ramble on about my life, I refuse for that's what this very journal here is for, and I've already used up a few pages.

    Closing down this pre-writing, I would like to thank you precious readers for viewing this, if you ever do. Like always, I am not sure if Luna was serious about the book thing, but I'm not taking my chances. Last few things, I would like to inform you, before I forget, I was a brony before all of this. A closet brony, I never told anyone, as if I had anyone to tell. I haven't told these silly ponies about the show either, and I don't think I ever will, that's one piece of information I shall keep within my head forever.

    Whoa, rambling ensues.

    I would like to present you,

    The Entries of Cyrus.

    ~~~
    I had just finished my rounds at the local shooting range, and was drinking at the nearby bar I as a regular at, when my phone buzzed. I slipped the now illuminated phone out of my jeans pocket, and toke note of the small, blue bubble on the screen. My slight depression was lifted for a brief moment when I realized, or was reminded, that the newest chapter of my favorite fanfiction was just published.
    I jammed my fingers onto the virtual buttons, opening the phone with a familiar click. The homepage of fimfiction.net was automatically displayed on the screen, and it quickly transferred to the new chapter. I reached for my shot, and downed it with one gulp, slamming it onto the table with a satisfying bang. With the liquid quickly burning down my throat, I leaned back I to the both and started reading. I shouldn't bore you with details, but I will give you some insight, because this is what I did in my spare time. The story started when a human was shot and killed. He was transported to Equestria where he met up with the princesses and got a Job in the royal guard. Eventually, he strikes romance with Celestia. That's where this chapter starts.
    I ordered another beer as I continue reading. Scrolling my finger constantly, I found myself on the edge of my seat, eagerly anticipating the clop that was about to come. I know, I'm a sick bastard, but hey, it is really interesting. The waiter eventually came by, and set my drink on the table, but I didn't notice. Eventually, the chapter ended, unfortunately right before the good stuff. I closed my phone, and slipped it back into my pocket. I turned my attention towards the now lukewarm beer sitting in front of me, and my prolonged depression looms over me again.
    You see, it wasn't because I had a biotic leg, no it was far from that. I was actually quite comfortable with my robotic leg, often times preferring it over my now long lost real leg. And it's not because of lack of friends either. I had a few good friends, that's all I needed. Four quarters and ten dimes are the same thing right? No, it wasn't that. The problem was loneliness. As I have said before, I had friends, but what I lacked was a girl of my own. It left a large hole in my chest, leaving me feeling happy, but not completed. If you will, it feels....hollow, empty almost. It's not that girls would look at me and call me ugly, but more so my biotic leg, and my pickiness. As expected, a fair share of women turned away in disgust once they have noticed my leg. And I wasn't exactly rich either, so that didn't sit well with girls. And my pickiness, yes, my hard yearning for a girl with a good personality. But unfortunately, that was as rare as diamonds. So, I abandoned my search for someone to share my life with, and I eventually found myself watching My Little Pony. But that is a tale for another time.
    I payed for my drinks, and slid out of the leather booth, leaving a few dollars in thanks to the waiter. I walked out of the bar, instantly being smashed with a wave of snow and cold air. I shivered slightly, but smiled non the less. Winter was by far, my favorite season, for the days lasted shorter and the nights lasted longer. I glanced up at the now full moon, smile growing wider as the gleaming beauty shined ever brighter in the darkness surrounding it. I always admired the night, as I did for a certain Moon Princess. I turned down from the moon, continuing the rather lengthy walk to my car. As I drew nearer, I reached into my pockets, and fumbled with my keys. I drew them out, and hung my hand lightly at my side.
    I trekked through the snow covered parking lot, before finding the turn towards the direction of my car. Treading snow, I approached the alleyway in which I had placed my vehicle. The snow slogged as I drew nearer, and a disgusting, but familiar scent littered the air. I sniffed a deep breath...weed? Odd, normally this part of town was civilized enough to smoke inside, of the people smoked here at all. I escorted myself around a line of cars, and glanced towards the ally. A group of three teenagers stood or sat around a large variety of drugs, inhaling or smoking them deeply. I couldn't blame them, this was one of the more secluded areas of town, and police never came back here.
    I sighed inwardly, and sauntered around the corner. At first, the druggies paid no mind to me as I walked down. But when they realized that I was coming closer, their heads popped up. The light from nearby street lamps confirmed the drugs by revealing their deeply bloodshot eyes. A specific delinquent stood out from the rest. He bore a leather jacket, adjourned with chalky white skulls. On his waist he was clad in heavily ripped denims. Near his groin area, a large budge erected from under his shirt. This one stood up, but had to grab the wall for support. These guys were clearly drunk off their asses and very, very high.
    As I was about to brush past them, the other two stood up, and joined their brother in blocking my path. I looked around, noticing the distinct lack of people, and cars for that matter. I cleared my throat, "Excuse me fine gentlemen, if you would be so kind as to let me gain access to my vehicle?" I announced, trying to sound pleasing but also threatening at the same time. The man with the ripped jeans snorted, a cloud of white mist dispersing from his nose.
    He looks at me, as best as he can with his bloodshot eyes, "I d..don't thinkkkk so....man, this is our...spot...dude..." He said in a very high pitched and scratchy voice. Before I could respond, he stumbles again, falling flat on his face. His friends make no attempt to help him up, as he starts to surface from the snow. He uses the wall again to right himself, and I cleared my throat again, grabbing his attention.
    "I won't ask you nicely again, move the fuck out of the way!" I advised, making a move to brush past them. As I neared them, one of the goons on the right shoved my shoulder back, and the man who spoke before did so again.
    "We can't have that...dude." He said groggily, almost falling again. As I recovered from the shove, my eyes widened in shock as the man pulled out a small revolver. I stepped back nervously, "Hey Hey! Whoa, I'll leave, just keep the car, Kay? I won't cause you anymore trouble!" I tried to convince, a nervous smile plastered onto my face. The high boys face gets scrunched up in confusion, maybe considering the offer. His feet shifted nervously, or maybe in anticipation. My blood turned ice cold, and I stopped in my tracks as I heard an all too familiar click come from the teens direction.
    He aimed the revolver at me, and addresses me in a heavily slurred voice, "N..no d..dude...". I spun on my heel, and ran for the bar. I heard a bang behind me, and a buzzing sound whizz past my head. I ducked behind a car, and preened my ears. I heard muffled footsteps leaning in my direction. I ventured a peek around the bumper, but retracted my head as a bullet whizzed by, lodging into the snow. I cursed to myself and ran around the back of the car, making a line towards the bar.
    Just when I thought I was home free, another bang pierced the air, and a familiar heat rose from my lower chest. I stumbled to a stop, clutching my chest. At first, there was a strong numbness. Like a million bees buzzing, gently rocking the Earth. I looked down at my hand, and found it dripping in blood. I brought my other hand up, and found the same results. I gasped for air, but was only meet with a scratchy wheeze. And then the pain hit. My nerves finally reacted properly, and I recovered from the shock. I don't know how, but I found myself on the ground, clutching my chest in agonizing pain. As I lay there, I continuously tried to breath, but found my lungs unresponsive. My head felt light and dizzy, and my eyes felt as if they were going to explode.
    I gaze upon the starry night, my vision blurring. Just when I was going to close my eyes for the last time, I saw a faint twinkle from a distant star. I spread a struggled smile, and closed my eyes.
    I wish for a new life, and a second chance.
    A bright light erupted, clearly evident through my closed eyelids. I took a deep breath, and drifted into unconsciousness. Wait, a deep breath!? My last thoughts drifted away as a sea of sirens in the distance, and a bright light took over my senses.
    And I feel asleep for the last time.
