Chapter one: The strange book

Twilight had no idea how many books were in the library, or what they all contained. Some of them she just hasn’t gotten around to reading them yet. But on this particular day a torn purple book caught her eye as she was heading up stairs. It was on the top shelf pushed near the back so that the corner was only visible. When she took it down the cover fell apart, startling her. In her mind she remembered a spell that would repair books, but it took an hour to finish. She decided she would do it tomorrow, because it was already late and she was due at Apple Jacks in the morning. She laid it down on the desk where Owlicious was perched, and he stared at the book as it landed.

The next morning as twilight was making her way out the door, the book caught her eye once more. She stared at it with a look that could make Owlicious blink. Her mind needed closure, so she decided to blow off the evening with apple jack to repair, and read the mysterious book. “Spike!” she yelled. The tired baby dragon drug his feet while rubbing the sleep from his eyes. “What?” he answered. “I need you to go to apple Jack’s, and tell her I will not be able to make it this afternoon.” She told him. The dragon yawned, and grabbed the door handle and twisted it. The door clicked and opened, letting in a blinding light that made Spike wince.

Twilight sat down in front of the tattered book, and closed her eyes to force the magic out if her horn. She focused her mind on the cover and imagined it mending back to the pages. A few minutes later, she opened one eye to see her progress. To her surprise the book looked even more torn up and tattered. “Maybe I’m doing it wrong…” she thought out loud. “No, I just have to try harder.” She said to her self. She closed her eyes and strained for a more powerful magic. Five more minutes passed before she gave another glance. The book still looked like it did before, like it had a resistant spell on it.

Her face got red and steamy as she stomped at the ground, because nothing was working. She tried magic, tape, glue, and even yelling at it, but nothing could hold the book together. She gave in and crashed into her bed, letting the book invade her thoughts. It was taunting her, beckoning her to fix it just so she could fail, and it could have its laugh. She looked over to the purple cardboard and neatly stacked paper, deciding to go ahead and read its contents.

She trotted over to the pile of book, and turned the first page. Twilight fell back at the sight in front of her. There, inside the first page, was a picture of her. She was scared to go any further, but this would haunt her for the rest of her life if she never knew what was next. She turned the page and read aloud. “Twilight had no idea how many books were in the library, or what they all contained. Some of them she just hasn’t gotten around to reading them yet. But on this particular day a torn purple book caught her eye as she was heading up stairs. It was on the top shelf pushed near the back so that the corner was only visible. She decided she would do it tomorrow, because it was already late and she was due at Apple Jacks in the morning. She laid it down on the desk where Owlicious was perched, and he stared at the book as it landed.” Twilight was dumbfounded, and confused. From there the pages were blank, like it needed to be finished.

Now convinced that this was a very strange book, twilight set it aside to be repaired at a later date. She was a little freaked out by it, but she was sure it was one of rainbow and pinkie’s pranks again. She pushed the book from her thoughts and went to lie down, magic was exhausting, and she needed some sleep if she was going to make up the time she lost with Apple Jack. Slowly, twilight drifted off into sleep, letting the abyss of sweet dreams carry her into a whole different reality.

The book still lay on the desk where the owl was perched. Light from the moon shined on its pages, lighting up the words as they started to form on the once blank pages. The quill and ink bottle never moved, but yet the letters still formed. Upstairs, twilight and spike lay asleep. As the night started to come to an end, a whole two chapters where inscribed in the book. Also the once torn pages had started to mend.
