Endings

“Never Lose Sight Of The Light In The Darkness”

This is just an overview of the endings and the conditions to get them. Jake-Heritagu is an excellent writer and you'd do much better reading his original endings than have me try to rewrite them.

“Good” Ending (Things are resolved and there are no strings left hanging):

Ending #1: Sisters

Conditions: Collect all of the memories throughout the game. Don't fulfill the conditions for the “Never” and “Confinement” endings before the final Other Pinkie scene. In the final stretch, place all of the tiles in the correct order.

Overview: This is the canonical “The Truth” ending, with the addon “Party for Two Sisters” connected. The ending remains primarily unchanged from the original.

“Bittersweet” Endings (Things are mostly resolved, but there are strings left hanging and/or things do not end 'happy'):

Ending #2: Bellamina

Conditions: Don't collect all of the memories, or fulfill the conditions for “Never” or “Confinement” before the Other Pinkie scene. In the final stretch, place all of the tiles in the correct order.

Overview: Near-identical to the original “Twist” ending. Pinkie, not having the full story of what happened to her sister and overcome with guilt that it was her fault, refuses to accept that Bellamina is dead, instead convincing herself desperately that it was she, Pinkie, who had died back then, and not Bellamina. Slender Mane overcomes her and she vanishes into the blackness.

Back in the real world, 'Pinkie' comes to, only to make a shocking reveal: she isn't Pinkie Pie, and never was. The real Pinkie Pie died all those years ago. She was Pinkie's sister, Bellamina; in order to cope with the trauma of that night, she had brainwashed herself into thinking she was her sister, in order to carry on her memory. Having confronted the demons within her and realizing the 'truth,' she regained her memory, as well as her true identity. Twilight and especially Dash have trouble understanding this, but eventually Twilight is convinced and accepts it. Dash, however, flies away, with Twilight calling after her, but getting no response. The scene ends with Bellamina apologizing for having put Dash through everything, before Twilight comforts her, saying that nothing that happened is her fault, and that sometimes facing the past can be painful. Bellamina solemnly agrees, then states that before she settles in, she wants to return to the family farm, to “visit Pinkie's grave.”

The ending is expanded upon with a typical letter from Twilight over the ending credits. In it, she explains to Princess Celestia what had transpired, as well as the true identity of 'Pinkie'/Bellamina. She confessed it was a tremendous shock to all of them, and will take some adjusting to, but in the end, even if the Pinkie they knew died so long ago, Bellamina was still their friend, and she would be welcomed into the group with open arms. She admitted that they would all miss Pinkie terribly, for even if they never knew the 'real' Pinkie Pie, if the way Bellamina was was anything like her, then the real Pinkie would have been a treasured and wonderful friend.

She turns serious, stating that she's concerned with Rainbow Dash. Dash has not spoken or seen any of them for some time, and apparently Fluttershy had heard a rumor that she was even giving up flying. Twilight notes how hard it must be to learn the person you loved deeply wasn't real, and after everything Rainbow Dash and “Pinkie” went through together, she doesn't blame her for the way she's acting. In closing, Twilight asks Celestia to always keep Pinkie in her heart, and that the rest of them always will, too.

Ending #3: Confinement

Conditions: Don't be selfish with healing items around Dash (i.e. don't allow her to linger at low health if you have healing items available), use the Knife too much before confronting Other Pinkie (i.e. too many kills with it, too much damage inflicted, use it on already-dead monsters or accidentally hit Dash with it often).

Overview: In the final confrontation with Other Pinkie, she stands before the restrained Rainbow dash, teasing real Pinkie about how someday it'll be her turn. Real Pinkie first watches in horror, paralyzed with fear, but as Other Pinkie's knife draws closer to her, and Dash cries out to her for help, Pinkie is snapped to her senses and rushes at Other Pinkie, barely-missing her with her own knife. Other Pinkie gets out of the way and turns to real Pinkie, who stands in front of Rainbow Dash, back to her, her own knife in her teeth and a look of pure hatred in her eyes. Other Pinkie delights that her other self wants to “have the honors” but real Pinkie growls out, “No...”. With her rage at it's peak, she tenses, and tells her Other self that if she ever tries to hurt Dash, she (real Pinkie) will kill her. Other Pinkie giggles happily and tells her that she (Other Pinkie) is impressed with real Pinkie's anger and hate, and that she's sure now that “You'll end up just like me one day!” Filled with pain and anger at almost seeing the nightmare come true, at nearly seeing her true love killed by her own hand, real Pinkie charges at Other Pinkie. The battle between them then commences with the usual conditions.

After Winning: Other Pinkie lays bleeding on the ground, real Pinkie standing over her, her face obscured by her hair, the blood-dripping knife still in her teeth. Despite the situation, Other Pinkie still seems happy. “I knew it...I knew it...you ARE just like me! I don't care if I die now...'cause one day...you'll BE me, and I can start all over...!” Wordlessly, real Pinkie delivers the killing blow, then walks over and frees Rainbow Dash. Dash embraces her, but she doesn't respond to it. Dash felt so scared for Pinkie, so sorry that this, this nightmare, was what she had to live through every night. After the tears stop, she expresses relief that “It's done...she's gone.” and turns to leave. However, the entire time, Pinkie had neither moved nor spoken, and Dash turns back to her, wondering why she doesn't follow. Finally, Pinkie looks up at her, the hair moving aside just slightly enough for her eyes to be visible, and see that they are filled with despair.

“I'm sorry...Dashie...”

“What're you talking about? Come on, we have to get out of here.”

“I'm sorry...I'm so sorry...”

“Will you quit apologizing, already? It's over, that... thing is dead. We're outta here.”

“No...the monster...she isn't dead...”

Dash stares at her quizzically, confused by this.

“What are you talking about? It's dead, the body's right there-”

Pinkie begins to shed tears of sorrow, her voice filled with pain and sadness.

“She was right...I AM just liked her...I AM her...”

“Wha? Pinkie, that's insane...you're nothing like that monster. I know you.”

“No, you just don't...understand...”

Dash steps forward, her expression a mixture of pain and concern, and a sense of dread that she knows what Pinkie means...

“Pinkie, come on, think back. Remember when you were in that dream of Nightmare's? You gave up the dream me, the pony who loved you, the one thing you wanted most, just so you could-”

“Please, stop!”

“Pinkie...”

Pinkie's voice is low as she faces the ground, her hair obscuring her face again, but not the tears that fell down.

“...when...when I stepped in...to protect you...when I stood facing her...I felt it. Somewhere...deep inside...underneath all the pain and anger and sadness, beneath wanting to protect you...I felt it....”

Dash begins to cry as well, whether from sadness or from fear of what Pinkie might be planning to do, she doesn't know.

“Pinkie, what're you talking about? Felt what...?”

“I...I wanted to hurt...I wanted to hurt...to...to cause pain...it had nothing to do with protecting you...or stopping her...I just wanted to hurt her...not because of what she was...but just because she was the pony who happened to be there...”

“Pinkie, I don't-”

“Dashie, please...I'm sorry...I understand now. No matter how hard I tried...no matter what I do after this...I'll still end up like her one day...I know it...

“No, Pinkie, you're wrong! I know you, you're not like her! C'mon, Pinkie, I lov-”

Pinkie's voice is stricken with pain as she chokes out,

“Stop! Please, don't say it!”

“Pinkie, I-”

“I can't! I can't let that monster...I can't let myself...do those things...I won't...I'll never hurt you...Dashie...”

“I know you won't...”

“I'll never hurt you...”

Her voice begins to break, as something between fear and resignation begins to overtake it. She continues,

“I'll never hurt you...because...I'm not leaving...”

Dash's heart sinks as she struggles to grasp with what Pinkie means.

“You're not...? W-Wait a minute, you...you're staying here?! Pinkie, you can't-”

Pinkie looks up to face her true love, her eyes empty, as if devoid of life, and a hollow smile filled with suffering adorning her muzzle. “I'm sorry, Dashie...just do one thing for me...please...live your life...”

The room around them begins to break away into the black void, as Pinkie turns and starts to slowly walk towards the growing darkness. Dash tries to run towards her, her tears streaming out and vanishing into the endless nothingness, but feels herself being pulled away, a light shining somewhere behind her, the warmth on her back a stark contrast to the chill that ran through her heart.

“Pinkie, stop! Don't do this! You don't have to do this! What do you expect me to do without you...?!”

The answer comes back, an icy dagger striking her at her very core, seemingly coming from everywhere at once.

“...live...”

Dash struggles against the force pulling her back into the light, reaching out desperately towards her love as the darkness finally begins to engulf Pinkie for the last time...
