The Transformation of a Changeling
Chapter 1: The Transformation of a Changeling
Changelings. The monster that hides under the beds of young kids, and frightens them to do as their parents tell them. The creatures which stay far away from ponies and life if possible, only surfacing to eat. Not only feasting on love, but also meat and blood. Hunters of the night and day, picking only one pony each hunt. Taking the weakest, and less known of the village folk. They get forgotten after the first month of being taken, no pony remembers them. Some get killed instantly and swamped in their own blood. Others are taken back alive and changed forever. One bite is all it takes, but some prefer to bit more then once, chew if you like. Maybe it's because they love the taste of fresh blood? Or maybe they love to hear the innocent screams of their victims...? In rare occasions a group of changelings ranging from four to five take a small household. Their hooves steps are silent, their attacks are quick and lethal, and their fangs are sharp and deadly. Most of the time they attack poor households with only two or three ponies inside. It's quicker and the ponies get forgotten easily, as if they never existed. They try to make their attacks as bloodless as possible, but when you have a new bitten it can be hard. Once the changelings have sneaked into the house they find the perfect moment to strike. You can either pick them off one by one, or you can choose the funner alternative of attacking them all at once. Most of the time the adult male is bitten, if not the adult mare. If there's a foal then they usually get killed quickly either by the new bitten or the team leader. Enough about ponies and dinner! How about we talk about the new bitten? When a pony is bitten by a changeling, they get infected by change venom, which rushes to the heart. The beating heart pumps the blood and venom around the body, causing a headache to the infected pony. At first it feels like a migraine, but it quickly turns into an agonising and burning sensation, which makes the pony collapse. They can't think clearly and close their eyes as hard as they can to try block out the consuming pain. They fail of course. There is no known cure and it's best not to have one, eh? Sometimes the pony feels faint or woozy, but they never pass out. They can't, the heart needs to beat quickly and they already feel a strange hunger beginning to arise. The hunger for blood... The first outer change is the skin. The colour quickly drains from the ponies coat, as it quickly turns a dark grey. It then finally turns into a dead black, which appears hard and smooth like armour. Holes then begin to form on the legs where the creature was bitten, but if they were only bitten once they gain other holes in different areas of the legs closer to the bottom. The skin where the holes are going to be look dried up and brittle. It then cracks slightly and breaks away like ash onto the floor. Next is the horn. If the pony is a unicorn then horn will be replaced. The horn begins to crack and the quickly shatters. Like a maggot leaving a rotten apple on cider squeezing day. The stump where the old horn was is where the new one shall grow. For a few seconds there's nothing, but then a sharp black point grows from the stump. It slowly grows until it's reached the length of the original horn. This is incredibly painful for the, once was, pony, as a new bone has forcefully grown out of the skull. If the pony was originally an earth pony or pegasus, then the horn will pierce the skin, growing to a suitable length. There is no blood involved during the horn growth, but it does involve a large amount of pain. Next is the wings. Similar to the horn, if the pony is a Pegasus then the new wings will break through the old feathered wings. All that will remain of the old pair of wings is a bundle of feathers. The new wings are thin, yet sturdy with a few holes here and there. They a opaque and coloured similar to light green crystals. The front two teeth then start to grow long and curved. They slowly get the inner and sharper towards the end, until they become as sharp as needles. It's rather painful and hurts a lot more than a toothache. Now the mane begins to darken to an unearthly black. It then proceeds to fall off, like a dog when it moults. The only remainder of the mane is the black thin roots, which spoke upwards like a mohawk. It then starts to grow until it looks intimidating and sharp. Then the tail does the same thing except for coming back. Some cases the tail never returns. Other times however it will grow back as a smooth, hard, black bunch of spikes. That's when the pony's stomach begins to loose it's fat. Like when you try to suck in your stomach when you feel fat. The fat gets burned into glucose quickly, which helps speed up the 'change' process. The stomach then hardens into place and prevents weight gain. Handy, eh? Free weight lose! Finally, the eyes change. The colour disappears from the New Bitten's vision and is replaced with dark colours, such as grey, black, light grey and sometimes white. Another thing added to the New Bitten's is heat sensors. The New Bitten can see heat from over three miles away and easily catch it's helpless prey. Now the transformation is complete. The pain stops and the Changeling forgets it's previous life. It's mind is filled with Changeling knowledge and logic, as well as hunting tactics. The transformation takes a lot of energy out of the changeling, and it is born hungry. If the pony family is still alive to watch the transformation, then they get to have the honour of feeding their past loved one. The changeling gets up slowly and turns to it's dinner. It forgets completely about who it's family is, and instantly attacks it's previous household. The only thing the changeling remembers about it's pony life is it's name. They may change it if they like, but most keep it. The family's pleas and screams are ignored by the new changeling, as all it sees is food. To 'it' they're just some ponies who it can eat. Nothing can make them remember their past lives and their old family and friends. The only family they have is their new clan, which they get bitten into. All that matters to changeling's is food and serving their king/queen until they die.
Well, that's all there is too it! Story time over kids, it's dinner time. I have some meat to attend too. Chow!
