Zap Apple Season

It was a clear morning in Sweet Apple Acres, Applejack and Aplebloom were heading down to the Zap Apple Orchards.

Applejack was taking a cart full of harvesting baskets, while Applebloom rode inside one of them.

"I love Zap Apple season! Last Family Appreciation Day, everypony was amazed by Granny Smith's story!" Said Applebloom.

"Everypony does love Zap Apple Jam." Applejack said, "Maybe even more than the good ol' cider! It's the reason why Ponyville exists, ain't it?"

They were getting closer to the trees, and they saw Big Mac in the distance waiting for them.

"Good mornin' Big Mac!" Said Applejack, "Up early again?"

"Eeyup."

"Ya, guess everypony got up with Granny Smith's shoutin' and the timber wolves howling in the morning," Applejack said , chuckling.

"Eeyup."

"Well, we should get started with this, don't wanna be on a hurry when the storm comes"

The three siblings threw the baskets around, and placed them next to the zap apple orchards

"I've never seen the zap apple leaves form before." Applebloom said. "Is the storm almost here Big Mac? I can't wait to see them leaves appear!"

Big Mac sniffed at the air.

"...Eeyup, just about now sis."

Just as Big Macintosh finished his sentence, storm clouds began heading towards them, along with a strong wind. Applejack held on to her hat so it wouldn't fly away. Applebloom watched in awe as the lightning struck the orchards, and by magic they grew into full-grown trees. They sparked aways and they also grew some zap apple sprouts.

"Well there ya go sis! Thats how zap apples come to us, now we just wait for them apples to sprout so we can begin harvesting" Applejack told her sister.

"Hey Big Mac, how bout' you get going with Granny to the market for the apple jam ingredients?"

"Eeyup, Ill be heading back to the barn then. Ill return to help ya'll harvesting later."

"Ooh boy..." Applejack muttered to herself. "I miss the days when we harvested zap apples with mama and papa."

"Watch'a say?" Applebloom asked. "Mama and papa?"

"Wha-?" Applejack didn't realise her sister was sitting next to her. "I sa-said tha-ts a... Beautiful ribbon you're wearing today Applebloom!" Applejack blurted in vain. (It is really hard for her to lie, after all.)

"Likely story sis'," Applebloom was staring at Applejack with her huge eyes. "Tell me why I never met them! I've never knew about my parents, what happened to them! All these time I've thought they abandoned us!"

Applejack sighed heavily. "I would have liked this day to be father away sugarcube, but you had to know someday. Get yer stuff, we gotta go with Granny Smith."

Applejack and Applebloom arrived to the barn just as Granny Smith and Big Mac were leaving to Ponyville.

"Granny Smith, wait up!" called Applebloom.

"Hey sweetie, whats the matter? Want Granny and Big Mac to bring you something from the market?"

Applebloom glanced at Applejack.

"Um Granny, we got a problem here..."

"Well whats the matter Applejack?"

"Umm... well... Applebloom knows..."

"Oh dearie." Granny Smith said to herself. "Applebloom, make yourself comfortable, this is a long story."

"You know what happened Granny?" Applebloom said as she sat down.

"Yes, dear. And I remember very well. It was about 5 or 6 years ago, during Zap Apple Season..."
