Accepting Oneself

"So Crimson Breeze... is there something you wish to tell me?" After asking him this, Bleeding Heart stood ther silent, waiting for Crimson's response. If he accepts the final truth and faces himself, Crimson's suffering would end. If he doesn't, then the fog covering his reality will never lift and he will continue to pour his secrets into his journal. Were he to do this, Bleeding Heart would have no choice, but to repeat this chain of events, causing Crimson more suffering.

After a few moments, Crimson looked up at Bleeding Heart and began to speak. "You know something? I think I finally understand it all. You did this to ultimately help me. I suppose that teaching lessons the harsh way is sometimes the only way to get the student to learn. You showed me something. All of my secrets and lies became something that only caused me pain. You may be a Shadow, but the things you did were not completely evil. After looking at the events that took place over the past few days, and then hearing what you said just now, made me realise that I shouldn't be hiding my past or just throwing it away, nor should I toss my friends aside. They really cared about me. I know that now thanks to you."

"You're finally going to open your eyes aren't you?" Bleeding Heart said with a genuine smile.

"Yes. I am going to see the truth and embrace it. My precious journal became nothing but a tool to create you, another side of myself." Crimson looked down at the open journal laying on the ground, the pages stained black with the hidden truth. He closed the journal and looked at the emblem on the front. It reminded him of his childhood life in Canterlot and for the first time, he smiled at those memories. "Bleeding Heart, its true. You... are me."

At that moment, Bleeding Heart began to glow and started to fade. "Well done Crimson. Not only did you allow me to fulfill my purpose, but you faced yourself and conquered your Shadow." Crimson noticed he was fading while he walked towards Crimson, smiling. "What's happening to you? Why are you fading away?" He stopped right in front of Crimson and placed his ghostly hoof on Crimson's back. "This is what happens when somepony conquers their Shadow. You accepted the fact that you and I are one and the same. Now that you have, you and I will unite. After all, I am just an extension of you." Crimson smiled, realising that this was what Bleeding Heart wanted all along. "Oh and one more thing." Bleeding Heart was now almost completely gone. He looked like a cloud of pony-shaped smoke. "I'm proud to say that I am you."

At that moment, Bleeding Heart was no longer visible. He had truly vanished, but Crimson still felt a presence around him. Knowing that the words Bleeding Heart spoke were true, Crimson started walking home, knowing that from now on, he no longer had to live a lie. As he walked, the light from the sun shone down upon him, which filled Crimson with hope. That night, he went to bed after writing one last entry in his journal and leaving it open on his bedside table. While he slept, Bleeding Heart's spirit emerged from Crimson's body and noticed the journal sitting there. He looked over at the page it was open to and saw two words written down. After reading those words, he smiled and faded back into Crimson's body, knowing it was a message just for him.

"Thank you."
