Prolouge- The Wind Fox

Calm and gentle as the breeze.

When the universe began, it began with a bang.  The flash that followed was immense in size and blinding in brilliance.  No pony could properly describe the phenomenon for they would have to have been there.  But even then words would escape them, the sheer majesty, the miracle, was indescribable.  Over time the world was shaped as small dots of brilliance left from the bang burned into existence to further stave away the envious darkness that lingered at the lights edge.  All of this was told many times over in the records of time, for the day that Gaia was formed was the day that She came down to begin.  She was known by many names, The Creator, Mother, and Tao Faustus.  Tao was a kind and gentle mare wielding power that many of her kind in the future would only dream of possessing.  With these powers she bore many children from the very forces of nature itself earning her the loving nickname Mother Nature from her very children.  She would always smile at the name and nuzzle each one with compassion and love.

But many ask who these children of great virtue and aspect were?  They were children of the cosmos, foals of nature, and ponies of power.  Each child was born from different pieces of the very universe itself which would make them unique, but the same.  And so it was in the beginning, born from plasma and the loving warmth of the sun, the compassionate and motherly Celestia Solaria was born.  From the night sky and the calming glow of the moon and stars, the stern yet gentle Luna Antares came to be.  From the chaos and the unpredictability of the universe itself, the fun loving but intelligent Discord Discidium rose up.  Alongside these elder siblings came younger siblings all holding aspect over nature to keep it in balance and maintain harmony.  But four siblings were the last to be born; together they were known as The Anemoi, or The Four Winds.  Each held dominion over not only the winds themselves but the seasons which came with them.  As it was written, The Anemoi would usher in their respective seasons in sequence and then the next in the cycle would pave the way for the next sibling.  Out of all four Anemoi, the last to be born was soon to be the youngest and the luckiest.

The Before Time

Tao was smiling as she led her group of children with her.  The white alicorn with her reddish mane was gently escorting them through the pristine white halls toward their destination.

Luna blinked with curiousness, “Mother, is this our baby brother?”

Tao nodded, “Yes young one.  He is the last of The Anemoi.”

A pegasus filly that had snow white feathers instead of fur with glacial blue streaks upon them and eyes the color of fresh snow smiled, “Can I talk to him when we meet him?”

Tao patted her child, “Patience Boreas, he’s still young and does not yet speak.”

Discord was lazily floating on a cloud he had recently turned pink, “Yeah, wouldn’t want to scare him would we feather brain?”

Boreas blew at Discord and his lion paw was encased in ice.

“YIKES!” he shook it rapidly as the other children giggled, “talk about a cold retort.”

Tao fixed Boreas with a look which silenced all present.  Soon they all entered the nursery and stared at the lone crib.  The smell of pine needles and freshly fallen leaves greeted their nostrils upon entering.  An earth pony filly which was covered in a coat of faded grey fur with forest green segments sniffed the air.  Her amber eyes scanned the crib and her wolf tail wagged as her matching ears took in the subtle sounds of breathing.  Her mane bore the colors of dark green which transitioned into lighter and lighter greens.  Beside her was another earth filly with sky blue fur that possessed light dandelion yellow streaks in it.  Her mane possessed the colors of flowers, pinks, yellows, and purples all seemingly mixing together in unity.  Her eyes were a moderate yellow with slits for pupils; she also possessed cat ears and a tail.

The wolf filly bolted to the cribs side and gazed in, “C’mon Zephyrus, come see!”

The cat filly known as Zephyrus trotted over as Boreas fell in step, “Quiet Notus, he’s sleeping.”

Celestia, Luna and Discord gazed into the crib.  Lying curled up in a fluffy ball with his tail clutched in his front legs was a young earth colt.  His coat was all fluffy giving him the appearance of a copper orange cotton ball with black tipped fox ears.  His tail was that of a fox and bore white upon its tip.  His left ear flicked a few times and his eyes slowly opened.  His eyes were a dark amber as he gazed at his siblings.  He smiled and waved his front hooves in the air trying to reach them.

Discord gagged, “Jeez Mother, I think you might have used to much static cling on him.”

Celestia levitated her younger brother gently on the floor and hugged him, “I think he’s adorable!”

The young colt went, “Mya!”

Tao giggled slightly as Luna hugged him.

Zephyrus tilted her head, “Where’s his mane?”

Tao pet the feline filly, “It hasn't grown in yet.  But when his colt coat falls out it’ll grow in.”

Boreas tilted her head, “What’s his name?”

Tao picked the young colt up and nuzzled him as he giggled, “Eurus.  Everypony, this is your baby brother Eurus.  He has been born from the breeze of autumn and its leaves.”

Boreas smiled at her little brother who was sticking out his tongue and sitting atop Tao’s head like a wool hat, “So he will hold dominion over the eastern wind and autumn?”

Eurus smiled, “Mya!”

Boreas spread her eagle-like wings and flew up to eye level with Eurus, “Hiya brother, I’m your big sister Boreas.  That’s Notus and Zephyrus.”

Eurus tilted his head, “Bo…re..as?  Sis…ters?”

Boreas hugged her fluffy brother as all four of The Anemoi soon embraced.

Boreas smiled at her baby brother who licked her, “Were family and we will always love each other Eurus.”

Eurus looked at all his siblings, then a bored looking Discord and a smiling Luna and Celestia.

Eurus smiled warmly, “Eurus loves family.”

All of within the nursery smiled.

Chapter 1- Evicted

Present Time

Now Equestria is where we set our scene.  Many eons have passed the peaceful land by; many significant events have transpired to shape the wondrous place into the state it is now.  But two significant events stood out among many others.  The first was that both the celestial sisters had ascended to preside over the kingdom during Discord’s banishment, the latter of whom had long since been reformed.  The second event was Princess Twilight coming into being which heralded much happiness and prosperity.  However, preceding these events was when the children of the creator took up the jobs they had been raised to take.  Celestia and Luna raised and lowered their respective gravitational spheres, Discord made sure to even out the scales with his chaos so that the world would be chaotic enough to be interesting.  The Anemoi took up their duties of presiding over the seasons and the respective winds that came with them.  With that said, let’s talk about Eurus.

During his earlier years, his siblings taught him mastery over the ‘unlucky’ eastern wind.  The eastern wind was most difficult to control, it would blow wherever it would please and knock over objects that would dare stand before it.  Eventually Eurus made the wind yield and they became and acted as one, his cutie mark was evidence of that.  Eurus job was a simple one, The Wind Fox was charged firstly to bring in autumn.  He would change the leaves then chill the breeze which would then blow calmly whenever it was needed.  Then when it became time for Boreas’s time, Eurus would then do what he was famous for among his siblings, he would run.  Eurus’s hoof falls were quick and made nary a sound.  He would glide seamlessly through the glen with the wind itself bellowing behind him.  Every forest, glade, and orchard would be greeted by his trek.  Every leaf would then be knocked down with little effort, as it had always been.

But time and time again, the duty began to wear upon the spirits nerves.  Though he was eternal, he was still young and he possessed teenage arrogance.  Eventually it evolved into a lack of drive and he would always claim, he would get to it soon, soon never arrived.  Granted he would still change the leaves and chill the breeze, but he would never complete his sacred task.  Celestia, whom he took up residency beside, was a patient and wise mare who said he would eventually realize his error.  Unfortunately, patience can only go for so long and so far.

*

Celestia was going over some royal paper work.  The dreaded deed had long haunted her mind and formed the foundations for her most frightening nightmares.  One could only imagine what kind of nightmares would be brought on by paper work.  Luna of course would assist in the dreaded work load that would at times whittle away the wee hours of the morning, but even then their time was nothing but work.  Luna’s right ear flicked slightly at a distant sound which Celestia mirrored.

Celestia gritted her teeth slightly, “He’s at it again.”

Luna sighed and waved a caring hoof at her sister, “Come now sister, surely your famous royal patience won’t break all because of a mere celebration.”

Celestia sighed and massaged her forehead, “It’s not the party.  It’s just…for over 4 eons he’s been shirking his duties always saying,” she then spoke in a mock masculine voice, “I’ll get to it later Celly, chill out.”

Luna giggled slightly, “Brother always was laid back.”

Celestia was silent for a moment, “I’m going to kick him out.”

Luna blinked, “What?”

Celestia shook her head, “This has gone on long enough.  For a while now I’ve been thinking of how to handle him and I think the plan I’ve made will work quite well.”

“Sister be reasonable,” she stood up, “Eurus is a stallion of sound mind, surely if you explain the situation he will-“

A massive bass beat rocked the castle’s very foundations.  The resulting beat caused and ink bottle on Luna’s desk to spill all over her finished stack of paper work.  Her right eye twitched at the fact she would have to do it all from scratch once again.

Luna snorted in anger, “THROW. THE BUM. OUT.”

Celestia stood and opened her chamber door.

Many guards in the palace have never known about Celestia and Luna’s…let’s say extended family.  Most of the times whatever pranks HE pulled were taken as Celestia’s sense of humour working in overdrive.  This misconception earned her the hushed nickname of Trollestia, one such occurrence was when he hijacked a letter in transit and stole four gala tickets.  It would have been a trivial matter, if he had not rewritten the note as well.  When Twilight had sent her letter and enclosed just TWO of the six tickets, Celestia almost throttled the wind spirit.  But it was all in good fun and she replied with a suspiciously casual response.  One of the many reasons Luna and Celestia never told anypony about Eurus, The Anemoi, and Discords relation to them was mostly due to the fact that to many ponies would ask to many questions.  Questions which they were sworn NEVER to answer, Mother would be disappointed.

But this did not deter Celestia’s purposeful stride.  She walked to the highest room of the tallest tower and stood in the center.  Her horn gave a warm glow and a far wall adjacent to the door vanished revealing open air leading to a sheer drop.  Celestia stepped out and placed one hoof forward onto the threshold.  Once this had been done the wind around her surged to life and churned like the ocean.  Before her a massive horizontal tornado formed, but the funnel of wind soon broke apart to reveal a grand bridge made of polished grey marble.  The bridge itself formed into the very mountain Canterlot rested upon.  She walked toward the mountain, the bridge making what could only be described as melodic whispers.  She then stood before a mass of smooth oval stone and blinked.

“Mellon.”

A soft whistle split the stone in two.  Both halves swung inwards like doors as the solar princess entered.  The smell of incense and pine needles met her nostrils as she gently trotted down the hall.  Soon she came into an almost tribal looking sitting room, stone carvings, ornate statues, and royal furniture.  Seated on a double couch was her target.  A stallion that would stand a foot taller than many of her subjects and was just as lean as her was smiling like he was dreaming.  His coat was sleek and a healthy copper orange, his black tipped fox ears flicked as the cooing of the secondary inhabitants echoed in the chamber.  His mane was long and flowing and was the likes of an autumn leaf in color, the colors transitioning smoothly into each other.  Around him were two Naiads, ponies that possessed the most envious of curves and figures.  Both were twins, their coats were silky in appearance and a sapphire blue with an emerald sheen.  Both of their manes and tails were seaweed green and were so long and stringy that they touched the ground.

“Oh Eurus, you smell so nice.”

Eurus smiled and spoke in a smooth voice, “I get that a lot.”

“Rea, his tail is so fluffy.”

Eurus purred as Rea’s sister petted his trademark tail, “That’s what daddy likes Marina.”

Celestia spoke loudly, “Eurus.”

Eurus moved abruptly startling the Naiads, “Celestia?”

Celestia gazed at the two mares, “I trust I’m not,” her frown was as deadly as a blade, “Interrupting?”

Eurus looked at both siblings who vanished like water vapor, “No…of course not.”

He then lay out on his couch and flipped open a book, “So what brings you here today Celly?  Want to sneak more cakes?”

Celestia snorted in annoyance, “Pack your things.  You’re moving out.”

Eurus closed the distance immediately, “Sis you can’t be serious!”

Celestia stared him dead in the eyes, “Note. Serious. Face.”

Eurus stood tall, “I’m not leaving.  This is MY room, MY sanctuary!”

Celestia shook her head, “On MY Mountain, paid for with MY funds.”

Eurus looked at her, “Why?”

Celestia paced, “I’ve stood ideally by and watched you laze about.  Party without doing ANYTHING constructive,” her anger finally boiled over as her eyes whitened, “AND NOW I FIND YOU ALMOST RUTTING NAIADS?!”

Eurus looked to the side, “Foreplay first…”

Celestia’s eyebrows skyrocketed, “Excuse me?”

“Hey HEY!  Don’t you scold me!”

Celestia pressed her head against his as he pushed back, “Somepony has to because Mother knows She would do it.”

Eurus sneered, “Just because you’re the top dog on the sibling ladder doesn’t make you the boss of me.”

Celestia snorted, “As long as you live off of me it does!”

Eurus backed up and smirked, “Then how about this,” he sat on his couch and crossed his forelegs, “I’ll sit here, drink some rootbear, and you go sit on your princess throne Sun Butt.”

Celestia’s left eye twitched at her hated nickname, “Now you’re just acting foalish!”

Eurus then quickly retorted, “Takes one to know one.”

Celestia shook her head, “That makes no sense!”

Eurus looked to the ceiling, “I KNOW!”

Celestia sighed in annoyance, “Whether you like it or not, this is happening.”

Eurus then spoke two words that nopony would ever say to Celestia lest they wished to incur her wrath, “Make me.”

Celestia’s eyes glowed dangerously as her horn matched their luminosity.

Chapter 2- Destination Ponyville

Eurus sat in his train seat grumbling in annoyance, a series of bags were in the overhead compartment, he still was ticked beyond belief.  His life that he had built over the course of well…his life had just been ripped away from him by his big sister, in mothers name it was a pain.  Eurus glanced out the window as the train chugged along, Celestia’s words ringing in his head.

*

One Day Ago after a good trouncing.

Eurus nursed is burns and glared at a panting Celestia, “You *pant* are to be packed by morning.”

Eurus stood up as his wounds slowly healed themselves, “What exactly are you trying to accomplish?  You’re not going to rent my room out to college ponies are you?”

Celestia glanced to the side and sighed, “It’s not like that brother,” she looked at him with a look of mild sadness, “I don’t want to do this, but you must understand.  Luna and I have duties which we preform to the latter; do you think WE want to raise the sun and moon?”

“Well mother told you to,” he smirked slightly.

“Exactly,” Celestia regained her stern glare, “It was mothers wish before she left us to look after the world, it’s our job and DUTIES!  Though for some reason you seem to have figured you’re a special case that doesn’t have to do the duty that’s been assigned.”

Eurus rolled his eyes, “I change the leaves don’t I?”

“You’re supposed to do that AND banish the leaves to allow Boreas to bring in her season,” she fixed him with a neutral expression, “Did you know that the Running of The Leaves wasn’t needed until you decided to slack off?”

Eurus turned and started to gather his materials, “But the ponies are doing a much better job.”

Celestia rubbed her muzzle in irritation, “That’s not the point,” she stared at him, “I’m sending you to Ponyville to re-learn responsibility,” she nodded in finality, “and possibly for you to finally mature.”

Eurus smirked, “And what if I let slip that the Royal sisters have legit family ties?”

“What you need to ask yourself,” she smirked right back, “Will they believe you?”

Eurus grumbled several choice words as he packed, Celestia paid the fox spirit no heed as she paced.

“When you arrive in Ponyville, Princess Twilight Sparkle will be awaiting you in the local library.  I’ll send word of your arrival when you depart tomorrow, rest assured that I have your background covered.  All you need to do is go to Ponyville and do what is asked of you but,” she smiled, “when you have learned what I hope you will learn, you may return here.”

Eurus mumbled annoyed, “You always know how to compromise like the best of them.”

Celestia nodded, “I got that from mom.”

*

Eurus puffed and blew one of his bangs from his face; he then fixed a pair of aviator shades with silver reflective lenses on his eyes.  The train screeched to a halt and the conductor hollered onto the loud speaker that the location was Ponyville, Eurus departed and glanced around.  His ears twitched as he picked up the voices of multiple ponies droning on about their days and days past.  He mentally gagged as he walked past them, most of the ponies stopped to glance at the passing newcomer with genuine curiosity and intrigue.  Eurus stopped when he felt something on his tail, his head slowly turned to find a pink pony rubbing it.

“Ooooo, It’s soft!”

Eurus narrowed his eyes in annoyance and yanked his tail from her causing the mare to fall face first into the ground, “Hasn’t anypony told you to respect personal space?”

The pink mare mock pouted, “Several times, but usually they warm up to the idea because of,” she then glomped the fox pony, “PINKIE PIE HUGZ, tm.”

Eurus glared at her as he zipped from her grasp resulting in Pinkie hugging the air, “How?”

Pinkie opened her eyes and realized she was hugging nothing, “Wow you’re a quick one.”

Eurus smirked, “Yes I am, now if you’ll excuse me Inkie Pie-“

Pinkie cut him off, “Oh nonononono, Inkie is my sister, it’s Pinkie.”

“Whatever,” he waved his hoof, “do you know where the library is?”

Pinkie Pie nodded as the fox pony glanced around, “Yepers!  It’s down the street to the right then a left, then another right.  Oh!” she smacked her head as she smiled, “I almost forgot to ask.  Do you want me to throw you a welcome to Ponyville party?  I just want to know if you want a quiet welcome or an awesome one.”

Eurus paid her no heed as he waved a hoof to hopefully get rid of her, “Yeah yeah, sure.  Thanks.”

Eurus trotted away as Pinkie wore a massive smile of joy.

It didn’t take the fox too long to find his destination, he slowly approached the door and knocked on it…only for Pinkie Pie to open it causing him to jump back.

“By Celestia’s spectral mane how did you get here so fast?!  I just saw you!”\

Pinkie smiled, “That was the decoy Pinkie!”

Eurus deadpanned, “I’m not even going to try to understand that one.”

“Good,” a voice answered from behind Pinkie Pie, “Trying to understand Pinkie will drive anypony insane.”

Eurus glanced over Pinkie and noted the purple alicorn smiling at him, “Hi there Eurus, I’m Twilight Sparkle.”

“I kind of guessed,” he walked past Pinkie and noted the other four mares present, “and now they’ve multiplied….perfect.”

The others didn’t pick up on the comment as the door shut.

Twilight walked around Eurus, “Wow!  When Celestia said she was sending another spirit I was surprised, but an honest to goodness nature spirit?  Oh this is so exciting!”

Rarity looked at the stallion as he removed his glasses, “Oh my!  Even his eyes are fox like, how exotic!”

Eurus rolled his eyes as he stashed his shades away, “Yes yes I’m fantastic,” he glanced at a slightly taken aback Twilight, “So I assume Celestia informed you of what has to be done about me eh?”

Twilight nodded, “And clearly she’s right, just from hearing you speak like that.”

Eurus smiled in mild amusement as he leaned forward, “And what pray tell would that be?”

“Well,” Twilight became determined, “We’ve been asked to reform you.”

Eurus’s face dropped immediately, “What….”

Rainbow Dash flew in front of him, “The letter said we have to make you shape up and make you fly straight.”

Applejack nodded, “Make you learn how to be responsible an hard workin.”

Fluttershy smiled, “And to improve that attitude of yours.”

Eurus then broke down into a fit of laughter, these six mares, reform him?  Order and boss him around?  Yeah that was a good one.

Rainbow snorted, “And what’s so funny about that?”

Eurus glanced at them all in turn and smugly proclaimed, “I’d like to see you try.  You obviously don’t know who you’re dealing with.”

Twilight raised a challenging eyebrow, “Really now?  And who might that be?”

Eurus took a step back, “A stallion who can do this.”

Eurus then stamped his hoof down and a massive torrential wind blasted open the door and surged through the library like a miniature hurricane.  It swirled and churned whipping papers and books around as Eurus casually reclined on the very air and floated above their heads.  He gazed down at them in amusement as he floated out an open window.

The wind died down as the mares surveyed the damage, all the mares looked over to Twilight and backed up as her irises started to glow red at the mess around her.  Her mane then started to steam.

Pinkie then yelled out, “CODE RED, EVACUATE!!!”

The rage that erupted would soon be felt by a certain fox pony who was now napping nearby on a cumulus.
