“Twilight, just give me the book, I want to know what happens!” Rainbow Dash complained.
Twilight continued sorting and organizing her shelves, trying to ignore Rainbow Dash’s whining. It was proving difficult however; as Twilight knew all too well that Dash was a very persistent pony when she wanted something.
“I’m telling you now Dash, it’s not like the rest of the books in the series, it’s very different; I was even surprised when I read it. A lot of ponies say it was the most complex story she ever wrote…” Twilight warned.
Rainbow Dash rolled her eyes not truly listening to a word that the book obsessed unicorn was saying.
“Twilight, I just want to know how it ends, I’ve read every book in the series, I have to know what happens to Daring Do. I have to know how the story ends!” Rainbow protested.
Twilight’s face lit up with a smile before looking back to Rainbow Dash.
“Oh, it ends alright…” Twilight smirked.
Rainbow only became more excited by Twilight’s teasing. She had spent the last two months reading every book in the Daring Do series, eager to read the final one. Twilight had told her many times that the last book is very different from the others and by far the magnum opus of the series.
“Then give it to me so I can read it!” Dash demanded.
“Alright, but I’m warning you Rainbow Dash… It’s the end of the series, and if you’re anything like me, you won’t want to see a series end…” Twilight sighed.
Dash rolled her eyes.
“After everything I’ve seen in the series up to this point, I don’t think I can sleep until I know how it ends,” Rainbow replied.
Twilight sighed and levitated a leather bound book from her shelf over to Rainbow Dash, who eagerly snatched it up. Dash was practically drooling with excitement. Chances are she’d probably read it cover to cover in one night.
Rainbow began to examine the book. It didn’t follow suite with the other titles in the series; most of them usually had a graphical depiction of Daring during her adventures usually just barely escaping the hooves of danger. This book however was nothing like those ones.
It was completely encased in leather, with an odd cube design engraved on the front in black ink. There were no colors used to illustrate the cover; just that box and the words “Daring Do and the Puzzle of Eternity,” printed in giant bold letters. The book felt higher quality than the others, as if whoever made it wanted it to have a precious feel to it.
“It’s so… Different…” Dash stared in awe at the cover.
“Trust me Dash, when you read that, you’ll never look at Daring Do the same again…” Twilight smiled.
Dash wasn’t listening to her however; she was already rushing home to begin the final saga of her favorite fictional hero.
