Now… ON WITH THE STORY!!!
Thrills, DarkStorm lived for them, the dark blue Pegasus pony perched on the edge of a dark storm cloud that resembled the color of his mane and tail, though at the end of his tail the hair lightened out to a light blue, the color of lightning and it was only fitting that his cutie mark was a picture of a storm cloud with purple lightning surrounding it. He looked through the tunnel through the storm clouds before him. Pegasi never usually fly through storms because of the fact that the rain would hinder their flight, the water damping their feathers and weighting their fur, mane and tail. However DarkStorm defied this rule and preferred to train in the stormy weather. He was more than used to dark stormy conditions, however all the experience in the word could not prepare him for what happened that night.
He flapped his wings as he hovered above the hole before him, then he dived, head first down the tunnel wings folded by his side, front hooves out in front of his body, hind legs out behind him and his head out forward between his front legs. His eyes were reduced to slits as he built speed, the water drops falling in the clouds started to match his speed, he looked to his left to find millions of little ‘hims’ looking back at him as reflections of the water drops. He then dipped his head forward again and gained even more speed, seeing the end in sight DarkStorm spread out his wings and made them clip the side of the wall, he burst out of the hole and his wings left a trail of lightning from the storm clouds. Seeing the ground magnifying in front of him he tilted his head up and leveled out, the rain heavily pelting his head, as his wings sliced through the torrents of water, like a pair of sharpened dragon scales cutting through melted butter.
Small aqua bullets were smashing into him failing to falter him in anyway, as his usually wild mane was plastered onto his neck. He took in all the bliss the storm had to offer, but what can you expect? His name was ‘Storm’ for a reason; he made the most violent storms if he was angry, especially since he grieved over her. He sighed inwardly, and then he flew upwards slicing through the monochromatic cotton candy floating aimlessly in the sky. He made it through the storm clouds and burst through the top, silence. He had lost track of time as he collapsed to the sea of clouds on his back, and he noticed that it was midnight, Luna’s majestic moon hung lazily above him. Pelting him with an intense feeling of sorrow from the experience he had only a few hours before.

Earlier
DarkStorm glided through the air as Celestia’s sun rose behind him. He navigated his way to a house made of clouds and rainbows, to meet a certain cyan Pegasus with multi-colored streaks of pure awesomeness for a mane and tail. He landed on what appeared to be a front porch. What if she is not awake? He asked himself. NO!! Today is the day, FOCUS YOU HAVE A MISSION TO DO! A mean fed-up conscience said to him. He hesitantly knocked the door, and heard a “Hang on a sec!” So he did, every second felt like an eternity to him, he looked towards Celestia’s sun but instantly regretted it as his eyes burned in painful protest; He used one of his forelegs to rub them. “Well your he- oh!” She said as she opened the door catching him cowering at the sun. DarkStorm saw her, stopped, made his composure return and flashed an embarrassed smile. “Oh your not Gil-… Hello.” She said as if recovering from a mistake.
“Hello, umm…” He shyly said.
“Yeeeees?” She said impatiently.
He looked at her eyes, she was obviously in a rush, so he thought that maybe now wasn’t a good time, he closed his eyes but then the mean drill sergeant voice came back, Don’t back down soldier, YOU HAVE A MISSION TO DO! FINNISH IT! He sighed then built up enough courage to say, “My name is DarkStorm and I have seen you fly around town and well…” He nervously used a foreleg to rub the back of his head.
She new where this was headed and wanted to play along, “I know, I’m pretty good ay?”
'The best', he thought, “Well, I was wandering if you’d maybe like to umm, meet up later?”
She leaned against the door frame nonchalantly, “Mr. DarkStorm, are you asking me out?” She asked with a sideways grin not hiding the fact that she was toying with him.
“Please, call me Storm, and yes I, guess I am… So… Do you want to?” He asked with false confidence.
“Hehe, sure!” She laughed lightly, and smiled. Knowing that if you get a girl to laugh at you, you’re definitely on her good side.
“Great! So I’ll fly-by at 8?” He said.
“Sure, just, don’t be late, I don’t enjoy waiting. I just hope that my friend from camp shows up in time… HA! Speak of the nightmare! ” She said looking past him.
He turned around expecting another Pegasus but found a giant, glorious hawk thing standing there eyeing him, he felt a chill go up his spine, nothing new to him. “She’s a-“ He started to exclaim.
“Griffin, yes. Storm, this is my long time griffin friend Gilda.” Rainbow introduced. He knew what griffins were, because it was a griffin that took his father and his younger brother away from him, his mother and baby sister.
"Momma? Where's Pop and Light?" He remembered him saying.
"I'm sorry, he's- they're- gone." His mother choked holding him closely, "Those bloody griffins~"
Those bloody griffins.
“I gathered… Miss Gilda, does the name ‘StormCloud or Lightning’ mean anything to you?” He asked the griffin wanting information. He locked the griffin in a death stare, the signature ‘StormStare’ passed to him from his father. The StormStare was an ability passed onto every first born in the line of the Storms. The Storms would use this ability as a threatening act and to prepare for an intense fight. He felt the static building around him, the electricity in his eyes started to show as sparks swam in his pupils.
“Nope, can’t say I’ve ever heard of them, gees chillax dude.” ‘Gilda’ simply said looking away shunning his question.
'She must know right? Griffins must have connections right?' He thought to himself, not taking that as an excuse. He felt the rage in his back as he flared his wings out to his sides, and lowered his head in ready for an attack, small bursts electricity arcing from his spine to his feathers, he would of attacked her if he didn’t here someone shout, “RISE AND SHINE RAINBOWDASH IT”S A BRAND NEW DAY AND WE HAVE A LOT OF PRANKING TO~” This distraction proved useful as the griffin turned away from him walking to the edge of the cloud, he didn’t hear much else because he had his wings flare up with a look of pure anger on his face.
“Hey, what’s going on?” Rainbow said trying to calm him down bouncing him back to reality.
“Griffins are not to be trusted.” He said menacingly, his voice lowered and fierce; “I’ll see you here at 8.” With that he shot off from the place he was standing leaving a trail of electricity in his wake. Feeling the StormStare wearing off the after-effects started to kick in, Fatigue- Building electricity around oneself without the need for speed is physically and mentally draining. Followed by Pain- the pain starts at the most prominent source of the lightning, the back and spine, working it’s way to the head. Then ending with regret- what if Rainbow took acceptation to what he was doing? She wouldn’t have forgiven him. What if Rainbow got hurt if he attacked? He wouldn’t forgive himself if he did.
Feeling terribly tired and hurt he glided to the nearest cloud and rested on it.

Hours Later
Celestia’s sun was hanging high in the sky to mark noon. DarkStorm woke up no longer feeling the after-effects of the stare present. He decided to make a place to meet up out of cloud, so he got to work. After he finished he flew backwards and admired his work. It wasn’t much but it looked okay, it was just a flat field of cloud with an archway of finely carved ‘solid’ cloud. The archway took him most the day, Celestia’s sun was an hour gone and was replaced with Luna’s moon, Storm was absolutely amazed by the pure beauty of the moon, never before has storm seen the moon this big, and wonderful. He thanked the princess of the night and went to go get Rainbow Dash. He flew towards the cloud home and landed on the porch again.
He knocked on the door, and waited… And waited, he checked the moon’s position, and it looked just past 8, 8:30 even, he knocked again and called her name, then waited and waited some more. Hours passed, no answer came, He. Was. Furious. DarkStorm was always getting rejected, always.
Memories of the illusion of love that he was trapped in exploded into his mind.
“Just wait here! I’ll be right back~” An evil, seductive voice rang in his mind.
“I’m back! With the one I love!” The evil voice laughed a horrible twisted sadistic laugh.
“I thought you loved me!” DarkStorm’s voice yelled in his mind.
“YOU THOUGHT WRONG DARKSTUMP!” She yelled back at him with a shrill laughter from both her and that blasted stallion.
“nnnnn-NNNNNO!” He yelled aloud, “THIS CAN’T BE HAPPENING AGAIN!”
He channeled his rage towards his hoof. As his rage sparked in his hoof, he flared his wings and flapped to hover but he decided against destroying her home so he just wrote on the door: “Turns out, I don’t like waiting either. Just, forget about it. –Storm.” Heart heavy with sorrow and anger he left the cloud fortress and made it to the clouds he made. He landed in the center of the field, and looked around, gutted by what happened, hurt by his stupidity and blinded by rage, he flew up.
“RRAAAGGGGGGHHH!!” He bellowed then plummeted down, hitting the center of the field. He released all his rage all at once creating a shockwave that made all the clouds that was affected by it turn dark grey and start storming. He looked toward the archway as cracks ran up it, crumbling the solid cloud. The clouds below him turned hard and started to crack, he stepped off and the clouds crumbled away. He calmed down and saw the hole.

Moments of memory passed as he looked upon the moon, “At least I still have you.” He said calmly, and then he swore he saw it shake as he heard an intense wail coming from below ripping through the storm. He immediately dived down into the clouds to check what it was, he broke through the clouds and heard the cries, and he flew towards where he thought it was coming from. It was dark and stormy, both his elements, but that didn’t change the fact that he couldn’t see, he flew towards the noise, the cries got too loud, and sounded close.
Then he crashed.
He didn’t realize what happened, he just crashed into something and felt something pierce his skin below his right eye. He thought he was being attacked but that thought immediately was drowned out by a cry from his assailant. They crashed into each other and was forced into a mid air hug. He could feel the assailant go limp, the assailant was knocked out, he would of broke off and flew away if the moon didn’t show him who this pony was, the moonlight broke through the clouds and lit up his assailant, he almost gasped when the moon revealed the princess of the moon herself.
She was knocked out and wouldn’t survive the fall from that height he thought, he grabbed her again, turned her above him and fell back first, he held her with all four of his legs and wings, he braced himself for a terrible impact.
THUD!!
He landed on the ground with an immense thud, a pained and forced grunt of pain escaped his mouth as the air in his lungs was almost knocked clean out, but he felt her shiver from the cold of the rain. He used the rest of the energy he had to push her off his stomach and onto the ground; he then tried to get up. He struggled on his endeavor, gasping for air as he tried to get up and he was already feeling numb from his legs. He tried with immense pain and effort to get on top of the princess, he laid on her back using his wings as best he could to wrap the princess giving her what ever warmth he had, then he was out of energy, his vision went black as he went limp.
He tasted blood.
/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\
He woke up… He could hear humming, beautiful, kind and soft humming. Just listening to this made him feel ok, and this comfortable bed he was on. Then realized where he was, no, where he wasn’t. He didn’t remember sleeping inside. He didn’t remember where he slept at all. He tried to remember.
Waiting. Writing. Raging. Destroying. Flying. Then what? He tried again, but to it didn’t work. Then he felt a damp sponge press on his head, he opened his eyes quickly and gasped.
The timid yellow Pegasus shot back with a quiet shriek, “Oh. U-umm, you’re awake!” She said timidly. DarkStorm grunted response, he tried to get up but moving hurt. “P-please, don’t get up, not yet at least.” She tried to calm him.
“Ggnnah… Head my hurt… I am where…” He tried to say, but couldn’t think right and could not speak properly ”Happened what?” Making long sentences was hard, so he settled for one-worded sentences, “Location?” He asked.
“Oh, you’re in my cottage…” The yellow Pegasus said as she walked over to him.
“Reason?” He said bluntly.
“I-I’m not entirely sure, umm, the princess just barged in here with you and asked for my help.”
“Princess? PRINCESS!” He then remembered what happened. Destroying. Flying. Crashing. Hurting. Realizing. Holding. Falling. Landing. Bleeding. He shot up but instantly regretted it as intense pain erupted from his back and wings, he grunted in agony.
“P-please stay still…” The caring Pegasus said, easing him back down with a hoof on his back, making sure his wings were not going to hurt when he laid back down.
Storm got a look of her face, and saw a lovely teal blue eye looking back at him the other eye was covered with a flowing pink mane, and a caring smile adding to her cuteness. “Name?” He simply asked.
“O-oh no, umm, she didn’t tell me your name.” She looked worried now, and DarkStorm was already missing her adorable face.
“No, name of yours?” He dumbly said.
“Oh!” She laughed quietly with her mouth closed, and blushed, “My name is FlutterShy.” She smiled, obviously liking her patient.
‘Ahh she’s back’ He thought as she smiled, but then he remembered something. “Princess ok?”
“Yeah, she is fine, she’s just down stairs.”
“Present her?”
She left the room and DarkStorm heard her walk down the stairs and speak.
He felt a slight sting underneath his right eye, he moved his hoof up to reach it with great effort, and then he put his hoof to his face and felt a bandage. He sighed and put his hoof back down.
“Yes? You wanted to see me?” Luna walked to the bedroom. He moved his head towards the voice, and saw the advancing princess, as well as the tear stains disgracing her face.
“Ok you are?” He asked, but Luna didn’t quite know what he meant, she stared at the injured Pegasus before her, with a tear forming in her misty eye. “Please, cry not.” He tried to put on his best smile, “Closer, please.” He then said. She moved towards him and stood next to his bed, the tear seeping out of her eye. DarkStorm never had seen such beauty as this, her figure could only compare to one thing, it was so obvious what she looked like, she was a living symbol of the beauty of the night sky.
“Beauty you are.” He tried to compliment her.
She couldn’t hold herself any more, she pitied the injured Pegasus too much, she started crying, “I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to do this, I’m just, so s-sorry.” She fell to the floor in a crying fit. Storm shifted his position to face the weeping princess. “Your fault not. My chose do this. Forgive you I.” He said dumbly. The princess looked up at the pony, now looking at her. She was a mess, her mane looked out of place and new tears flowed over the dried ones. She stood up.
“You forgive me?” She asked weakly.
“Yes, I forgive you.” He said, his daze wearing off, “Ahh, Speech better slightly, I smart feel now, aww man.” He joked, and laughed weakly. The princess could only hold a small smile, as she got closer to him.
“I did this to you, I’m sorry.” She whispered.
“No, I did this to me. I acted to save you.”
“But I- My horn stabbed you below the eye.” She protested.
“All forgiven is, I crashed into you crashing into me, equal blame.”
“But I- I suppose that makes sense.” She sighed.
He brought his hoof up to his head and rubbed it with the wrist part of his leg, “Starting to clear, I feel better now.”
She smiled as more tears streamed her face; he saw this and said, “Lean in please.” She did what was told, fearing the worst she closed her eyes, only to open them shortly thereafter when she felt his hoof on her cheek, rubbing away her tears. “Thank you.” He said.
She took slight exception to this and wept quietly, “For what? For hospitalizing you? For making you unable to speak? For stabbing y-?”
“Giving me a beautiful night sky every night and for letting me meet you.” He interrupted, “Do you know what you look like?” He kept his hoof on her face as he said that.
“What?” She felt her tears well back up inside her expecting an insult.
Getting the expected response from her, he decided to dive head first on the question, answering with, “The night itself, boundless beauty.”
She lost her composure again as she used a hoof to hold his, tears once again flowed out, not tears of sadness, but tears of joy, only to be half soaked up by the Pegasus’ hoof.
“My name is DarkStorm, and I will live in the day, but I live for the night.”
