The Start of It All

Rainbow Dash soared high in the clouds above Ponyville, without a care in the world. She smiled, but frowned when the bored feeling seeped into her mind. She couldn't just fly all day; she knew that after a few hours she would be fed up with flying. Her wings flapped as she scanned the ground below for any, if not one, of her friends. Instead, she saw an unusual amount of ponies surrounding Sugar Cube Corners, it not even being rush hour and all.

She was curious, so she flew over to the roof quickly, not drawing any attention to herself. She looked at the crowd once again, unable to make out what anypony was saying because of the screaming. She sighed, and walked to the back part of the roof. After a second, Rainbow Dash knocked three times on Pinkie Pie's window. At first she didn't see a thing but right when she was going to knock again, she was met by the familiar green, scaly face of Gummy. She jumped, almost falling over the ledge her back hooves were on, but caught her balance before she toppled over completely, not that it would really matter for a Pegasus pony such as herself. She recovered from the scare quickly, and then went back to Pinkie's window, but this time hovering in front of it. She knocked again, getting impatient.

"Pinkie Pie it's me! Rainbow Dash!" She said quickly, but quiet enough so the ponies out front couldn't hear her.

After about a minute Pinkie came through the door, hopping as usual. She started to look for something, and then shifted her head, noticing Rainbow Dash, and she smiled real big. Rainbow Dash put a dull look on her face, impatiently waiting for the window to open.

"Will you hurry up and open the window…?" She asked, her tone slightly demanding.

Pinkie hopped over to the window gracefully, obviously taking her sweet time, and opened the window.

"Finally!" Rainbow Dash exclaimed flying through the window.

Rainbow Dash sat down, but Pinkie grabbed her tail before she could even relax.

"Come on! The rest of our friends are downstairs, silly!" Pinkie said surprisingly well even with Dash's tail in her mouth.

"Wha-"Rainbow Dash started to speak but stopped as Pinkie began to drag her downstairs. Hitting her head on the first step, she knew that this would get bumpy, so being dragged by her back hooves, she flapped her wings and lifted herself into the air, floating on downstairs. Once Pinkie stopped, Rainbow Dash flew to her side, yawning with her eyes closed.

"So, what's with the crowd out front?" Rainbow Dash asked. She then opened her eyes just to get an amazing sight. There standing at the counter, was the whole Wonderbolts team, actually acknowledging her existence. "Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gos- I mean, Oh that explains it…" She started with an excited tone, but instantly went to a cool tone, as she tried not to act so much like a fan. Twilight, Applejack, and Rarity glared at both Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash. Twilight was the first to actually speak up.

"Yes, this is the reason everypony out there is 'crowding' around Sugar Cube Corners… Pinkie! I thought we told you to keep Rainbow Dash out?" She said loudly.

Pinkie Pie tilted her head "I did…?" She asked, and then looked as if she was thinking.

"Oh yeah!...Oopsies!" Pinkie said sounding like an innocent filly.

Rarity sighed, "Ugh, can we really ever trust her?"

"Well, she is ah friend, sugar cube…" Applejack replied.

Rainbow Dash sighed and started to take her leave, as she said "I can take a hint…I can tell I'm unwanted here, so I'll just leave…" She felt hurt that her friends would keep her from the Wonderbolts. She flew up to a window on the side of the building and looked back at her friends.

"Sugercube…wait…" Applejack said but she was too late. Rainbow Dash exited through the window and flew to her cloud home, above Pony Ville.

"Why in the world would my friends do that… especially since they know that it's my dream to become a Wonderbolt…" she said out loud, then thought for a moment in silence.

"AH! This is so confusing!" she finally said before landing on her cloud with ease. Tank hovered over and looked at her with his bead-like eyes.

"Atleast I know that you want me to achieve my dream…" She said patting his head gently.

After She Left At SCC (Sugar Cube Corners)

Applejack spun around her face obviously showing that she was mad at her friends.

"Look what y'all did now…! You hurt RD's feelins…Pinkie's too!" Applejack said loudly, making it almost a yell.

Both Twilight and Rarity looked down, feeling the same guilt eating them up.

"We should go apologize…It's reasonable to say sorry to you too Pinkie…" Twilight spoke up meeting Pinkie's gaze. Next was Rarity, after many moments of silence.

"I'm sorry too Pinkie…but I'm even more sorry we kept this from RD…I mean she's probably really hurt that we kept her from…" Her voice lowered to a whisper "…her role models, if not her dream…" Rarity said quietly, her tone slightly sad.

"Apology accepted! Now let's go apologize to Dashie and PARTAY! YEAH!" Pinkie said before pointing to the back door with a party hat on. "TO TWILIGHT'S BALLOON!"

"Umm…" someone said from behind them.

They turned around and then remembered the Wonderbolts were here.

"Oh! Right! You guys follow us…afterwards we'll find you guys somewhere to stay…try to be as quiet as possible!" Twilight said solving the problem.

The Wonderbolts followed quietly behind the Mane 6, out the door. Everypony was about to take off until Fleetfoot kicked a can, after stretching her leg.

"Rollll…CRASH!"

"What was that? OH MY GOSH, LOOK IT'S THE WONDERBOLTS!" A Pegasus, obviously a Wonderbolts fan, flying overhead screamed, alerting the fans.

"FLY! NOW!" Spitfire screeched quickly, as the Mane 6's balloon was pushed up by some Wonderbolts and the other part of the team taking flight by Spitfire's request. The only thing on their minds was that hopefully they'd get to Rainbow Dash's before the fans got to them.

Meanwhile At Rainbow Dash's House

Rainbow Dash sat on the edge of her cloud looking down towards Ponyville with a confused look on her face. After sitting there for a minute or two, something caught her eye.

It was Twilight's purple balloon, and the Wonderbolts were following quickly behind it in her direction…but behind them were tons of Pegasus ponies. Fans she guessed, as she ran to her house and opened the door. She watched as the balloon landed, and Twilight casting the 'Walk on clouds' spell on Rarity, Pinkie Pie, Applejack, and herself, before jumping out of the balloon onto the soft surface of the cloud.

"Hurry! Get inside!" Rainbow Dash yelled. They immediately listened and quickly went inside of her house, followed by Rainbow Dash at the back. She shut the door and bolted it shut. Her friends and the Wonderbolts both turned to face her. This time Applejack spoke first.

"Look, Sugarcube, we just thought you'd go all crazy fan once you saw the Wonderbolts…I'm mighty sorry about earlier…and I'm pretty dang sure some other ponies have somethin' to you too…" Her tone was calm, and collected as she spoke.

Twilight lowered her head shamefully, and said "I'm so sorry Rainbow Dash, you too Pinkie…I guess I just lost my temper…"

Rainbow Dash smiled a bit but then turned her head towards Rarity, who was standing right next to the quiet and shy Fluttershy.

Rarity sighed, and spoke quietly. "Fine…I'm sorry Rainbow Dash…You of all ponies know that I can cause a lot of drama…"

Rainbow Dash nodded and smiled lightly "Oh I don't know…those apologies were pretty lame…" she says but then laughs saying "…Just messing with ya! Apologies accepted guys!" She finished her first sentence then began her next sentence. "…But…why ARE the Wonderbolts here in Ponyville?" she asked pointing a hoof to the said Wonderbolts.

They step up, but Spitfire is the first one to speak.

"Well…to tell you the truth we're on vacation…Princess Celestia generously allowed us to take a break from all those shows…" She said her tone quiet and calm. Today Spitfire's mane looked less windblown than it had, and she looked well rested, Rainbow Dash had observed. Another Wonderbolt, A handsome colt with a dark navy mane stepped up, and Rainbow Dash immediately knew his name. It was Soarin', the pony whose pie she had saved at the Gala.

"We went to Sugar Cube Corners to order some pies!...But then some fans saw us through the window…your friend Twilight Sparkle was already there, helping Pinkie Pie out with some of the cooking, so she teleported your other friends in…then a few minutes later you came in!" He said quickly, his tone joyful even though his day was slightly disastrous. Rainbow Dash thought for a second, then looked at the Wonderbolts once more.

"Do you guys have a place to stay…?" She asked, sounding slightly concerned. Spitfire shook her head making Rainbow Dash's plan ready to be initiated.

"Good. Twilight send a message to Princess Celestia telling her we need a Cloudsdale house, a big and secure one." Rainbow Dash said urgently, but with only a hint of niceness in it. Twilight nodded, then went over to a desk Rainbow Dash had in the corner of her house, and Spike followed. A quill and paper sat there, along with a box and an inkwell.

"Spike, take a note…" Twilight said sounding business-like.

Spike grabbed a piece of paper and a quill and began writing as Twilight spoke.

"Dear Princess Celestia, I must ask a favor from you. We need a big and secure Cloudsdale house built for the Wonderbolts during the vacation, or vacations. The Wonderbolts would greatly appreciate it. Your Faithful student, Twilight Sparkle." She finished and looked at Spike and nodded.

Spike held the note infront of him and blew green fire, or gas, Rainbow could never tell which it was, on the note, and it disappeared. About two minutes later Spike once again breathed green fire/gas and a note and a slip of paper popped out of it. Rainbow Dash caught it and read it aloud.

"Dear Twilight, Good idea, it'll give the Wonderbolts a great place to get-a-way on their vacation, here's your note of approval. Sincerely Princess Celestia."

Rainbow Dash grabbed the slip of paper, and flew out of the ceiling window, Fluttershy shutting the window behind her. Rainbow Dash flew towards Cloudsdale, the wind licking at her mane and tail. She loved flying; to her it was her life. She closed her eyes upon entering Cloudsdale, and floated in the air for a moment. Her old childhood bullies looked up at the sun, to find some of it blocked by her. She snapped open her eyes and looked at them. She shook her head and flew to the making building. She landed, and walked in towards one of the builders, then handed him the note.

"What's this? …The Wonderbolts? Princess Celestia? Right on it, Ma'am…the house will be done by tomorrow!" He says his voice gruff, but showing slight fear.

Rainbow Dash nods and flies out. As she heads out of Cloudsdale she spots a pie vendor and buys only as much as she could carry for the Wonderbolts. She places the bits in the other pony's hand, and the pony packs the pies in a box tied to Rainbow's back. She nods a goodbye then Rainbow Dash flies back to her cloud house. She lands on the roof, the fans strangely gone, but she still knocks cautiously and quietly on the window. It opens and she slips inside as Fluttershy, once again, closes the window behind her. Rainbow Dash lands in between her friends gently.

"Soarin', Spitfire, the Wonderbolts vacation house will be ready by tomorrow…Feel free to stay at an inn, or if you prefer here…Oh yeah! I got you guys some pies too…here…" She says, as Applejack loosens the rope holding the box. Rainbow Dash sits down allowing the box to slide easily off her back.

"PIE!" Soarin says loudly before grabbing the box with his mouth, by the strings that bounded it together. Spitfire walked towards Rainbow Dash and stopped a few feet away from her.

"First you save our lives, then Soarin's pie, now this...Words cannot express our thanks." She says her voice sounding friendly and calm. "As for your offer we gladly accept…one night here won't be so bad…"

Rainbow Dash nods and quietly says "The extra bedrooms are that way; hope you enjoy your stay…" She points a hoof to a door next to a dresser then walks over to her friends.

"Wow…The Wonderbolts are in my house…" She says quietly as she reaches her friends.

"Well don't do anythin' reckless now, R.D." Applejack said obviously worried with the whole concept of the Wonderbolts staying at Rainbow Dash's house.

"Applejack's right, one reckless move, and your 'becoming a Wonderbolt' dream is done for…" Twilight adds.

"Yes I know, which is exactly why it's only for one night…Speaking of which shouldn't you guys start heading home before it gets dark?"

Most of her friends nodded and started to walk out. Rainbow Dash watched them then shut the door behind her friends, keeping the cold chill of the windy day from entering her home. She watched them safely fly off in the purple air balloon through the window and sighed in relief walking over to her bed. Her bed was a simple light wooded set with a rainbow and cyan blue comforter. Rarity hoof made it for her a long time ago, and Rainbow was happy to accept the gift. Next to her bed was another light wood object but this time it was a neat night stand, with some paper and some quills dwelling on the surface. Her pillow was on the floor next to the stand. It was cyan blue, like her coat color, and the pillow also had a white cloud with a blue, yellow, and red lightning bolt coming from it. It was a copy of her cutie mark, and another gift from Rarity. She picked it up with her mouth, and gently placed it on her bed. After looking at it for a second, she started to write a note to the Wonderbolts.

The note read: "Dear Wonderbolts, I'm going out for a late fly…If you get hungry again go see my friend, Applejack…" She put the note on the inside of the door as she was walking out, then she heaved a sigh of relief.

"Finally…Now I have some breathing room…" She said looking up at the cloudless, now starry night sky and smiled "…just me and the wind in my mane…"

She ran towards the edge of the cloud, and jumped off, opening her wings in mid-jump. The wind instantly hit her, as she flew high up above her home, her mane welcoming the cool breeze. Her neck craned upwards, and she took a quick look at the milky full moon, surrounded by the twinkling stars, and then made a sharp turn. When she looked ahead of her, a quick pony was headed her way. She looked closer and recognized one thing in particular. The golden amber eyes, one going a whole different direction than the other. It was Ditzy Doo.

She braked immediately but she was too late. Ditzy Doo ran into her with such force, she was knocked unconscious. Her last view was of below, where Ponyville was closing in fast, then her eyes closed and everything went black.

Later that night…

Rainbow Dash's eyes snapped open, and she jolted up. Her body complained as an intense pain flashed through her body, causing her to clench her teeth, but that didn't stop her from observing her surroundings. She was in her cloud home, but this wasn't her room, it was also very dark, the only thing allowing her to see was moonlight shining through a window above her. She flapped her wings, only to get a jolt of pain down her spine. Her wings were dislocated, and she knew it. She was sure it was from the fall, but another question popped into her head.

'How am I alive? There's no way I could've survived that…' She thought in her head, and then looked around the room for any possible clues to this small mystery. A cloud was covering the moon now, so all she could even see was darkness. She weakly crawled out of the bed, slowly making her way to the door. There was light on the other side so it wasn't that hard to find. She stopped at the door when she heard voices talking on the other side.

"Go to sleep already, Soarin'…" It was Spitfire, Rainbow Dash was sure of it; the next voice was easy to figure out too.

"How am I supposed to sleep? The pie-saver is injured! Not only that, but she hasn't woken up yet!" Soarin' says his voice only slightly serious.

"It's only been five hours…I'd be surprised if she were to wake up now! We have to try and rest!" Spitfire replied, her tone filled with anger…or was it jealousy? Rainbow Dash couldn't tell, but accidentally hit her hoof against, making her it open just slightly, and alerting the two members of her presence. She walked in acting as if she didn't hear anything, but had just woken up. Soarin', Spitfire, and the other Wonderbolts who were awake, all craned their necks towards her, their eyes as big as the full moon itself.

"Ugh…my head…" She groaned. Her legs gave out from underneath her and she instantly hit the ground with a loud thump. Soarin' ran over to her and looked her over then slowly picked her up on his back, and put her back in the bed she was in before. Rainbow Dash watched as he left the room then came back with an ice pack in his mouth. Closing the door behind him, Soarin' dropped the ice pack on the ground, and turned on a lamp.

"I'm going to have to set your wings back in place, okay?" He said his voice serious. Rainbow nodded, due to the fact she wanted to get it over with. Soarin' picked the ice pack up from the floor and slowly approached Rainbow Dash, taking in every detail. She was cyan blue, with a multi-colored mane. Her cutie mark was a white cloud, with a blue, yellow, and red lightning bolt, coming from it, it was pretty unique. He'd never seen anything like it. He then looked up at her dark magenta eyes, it was either that or a strong rose, either way he loved the color.

"Re'y?" He asked making it look as if he was checking for any more injuries instead of checking her out.

Rainbow Dash nodded, after doing a quick check over him. All she could see was his navy blue mane, and his emerald green eyes, due to his Wonderbolt suit being on, but she didn't mind. She didn't want to hook up with anyone, afraid that they would just hold her back. Soarin' stepped behind her and sat down. The bed was pretty big so it wasn't that cramped, but Rainbow still scooted a bit away from Soarin', being sort of uncomfortable. He placed the ice pack on her back, holding it with one hoof, and then placed his mouth on the tip of the left wing. He used his other hoof to press down on the same wing.

"Ahh…ck…" Rainbow Dash screamed in pain, but muffled it by clenching her teeth. She tightly shut her eyes knowing more pain was on coming. A loud pop was heard as her left wing went back into place. Soarin' looked at her, making sure she was alright, then placed his mouth on the tip of the right wing, then did the same as before. Only a squeak was heard from Rainbow Dash as the bone popped back into place, the pain slowly subsiding. Soarin' looked at her as she turned to face him. She abruptly asked "How am I alive…?"

Soarin' blinked then shed a toothy smile. "I saved you of course; though I lost the pie I got from your friend Applejack…Consider it a thank you for saving my pie at the Gala!" His voice was a bit joyful and childish, but he said it nicely.

"Ah, Okay well thanks…Without you my awesomeness would be gone!" She said in a cocky and playful tone. He nodded to her and took the ice pack from her back, then walked out the door to the other Wonderbolts, closing the door behind him. She stared at the door in the darkness.

'Wow…He was pretty nice…' She thought in her head '…and handsome…I wonder if he's free tomorrow…' She then shook her head 'What am I thinking? He's a Wonderbolt of course he's busy…plus a relationship will just hold me back…No more filly thoughts...' she finished, before laying back down in the bed, shutting her eyes, and attempting to fall asleep. After a few minutes, sleep finally overtook her and her dreams began to play before her now closed eyes

The next morning…

When the night ended, morning came, causing the sun's rays to trespass into the window and onto the sleeping figure of Rainbow Dash. Soarin' walked in the room a bowl in his mouth, holding what was to be Dash's breakfast. He started to say something to wake her up but the sight before him froze him and his tongue in place.

On the bed Rainbow Dash lay sprawled out, her fluffy messed up mane on the pillow, sticking out a bit, with the sun making her multi-colored rainbow hair shine. She looked so peaceful so with that last thought he grabbed the bowl and placed it on the night stand next to her bed, looking at her one last time. He walked out of the room shutting the door softly behind him. He looked back at his wings and sighed, a slight blush on his face.

"Stupid wings…always giving things away…" His wings were straight up, which was what another Pegasus would call a…

"A wing-boner, really Soarin'?" Soarin' froze up as Spitfire spoke, amusement and a pinch of jealousy in her voice.

"Hey! Shut up! You go in there and look at her, yourself, before you judge me!" Soarin' dared Spitfire putting his wings back in their normal closed position.

"Might as well…at least I can wake her up unlike somepony I know…" She replied sticking her tongue out at him. She opened the door and Soarin' followed her in watching her closely. Spitfire knew Soarin' was behind her but she didn't know what she was about to see. She looked at Soarin' approaching the bed, then swiveled her head towards it.

"Well-"She started, but froze when her eyes hit the scene before her.

'Wow…and she doesn't even have to try…' She thought. She saw the same sight as her team mate did, the sprawled out, messed up maned Pegasus pony, Rainbow Dash, sleeping as if she hadn't slept in days. Her wings slowly stood straight up and Spitfire sighed.

"Damn it…Soarin' wake her up…" She growled walking out of the room to calm her own wing-boner.

Soarin' chuckled and whispered "You even got Spitfire…impressive…" He knew Spitfire was jealous of Rainbow Dash; due to the fact Spitfire liked him ever since he joined the Wonderbolts, and all of the time he was spending with Rainbow was driving Spitfire crazy. They went out once but he knew she wasn't the one for him, so he told her he just wanted to be friends. Ever since then he would always talk to girls, just for Spitfire to barge in and scare them away. He shook his head, and nudged Rainbow Dash with his hoof.

Rainbow Dash sat up, yawning quietly. She opened her dark magenta colored eyes but quickly closed them as the sun's rays hit her eyes.

"Ah! Celestia! That sun is so freaking bright…!" Rainbow said before opening her eyes once again.

Soarin' watched her get up, shake her head a bit, then put a hoof through her mane to get it back like it was the day before. Her head to turned to the bowl, then to Soarin'.

"Thanks for the breakfast…I'm going to need it if I'm going to try flying today…" She said quickly before digging into the bowl. It was filled with carrots, and celery, a good meal for flying, Rainbow Dash thought. She ate as quickly as she could without giving herself a tummy ache.

'Okay…time to test these puppies…' She thought, opening her wings. She walked out of the room, past Soarin', then out of her house seeing Spitfire already out for a flight.

"Morning Spitfire..!" She yelled over to her, a smile being thrown over to the fiery-haired Pegasus. Spitfire looked over at Rainbow Dash but just nodded and kept flying.

'Strange…she's acting weird…' Rainbow Dash thought to herself but shrugged the thought off. She closed her wings and jumped off the cloud. The ground was closing in fast.

Spitfire watched her wondering what she was doing. Suicide? No…she wouldn't would she?

Rainbow Dash quickly opened her wings, the force throwing her high in the air.

"Woo! Time to pick up the pace!" She said loudly and flew around a bit more picking up speed.

Soarin' stepped outside onto the cloud porch…at least that's what he would call it, and watched both Spitfire and Rainbow Dash closely.

Rainbow Dash flew higher flew higher up into the sky, unknown to the Wonderbolt watchers. She stopped for a second, and then dived towards the ground, her speed increasing. Soon enough a white cone of light began to form infront of and around her. She shut her eyes tight.

"Here…we…GO!" She yelled before…

"BOOM!" Rainbow Dash propelled forward, a rainbow following her as she flew towards the ground, then rose back into the sky with equal force, before landing back on her cloud porch, the rainbow depleted. It took a moment for Rainbow Dash to notice that all of the Wonderbolts were gathered there on her cloud, staring at her in amazement.

Spitfire glared at all of them, then looked elsewhere, seeing a large mansion like cloud house in the distance. She flew next to the rainbow maned Pegasus before any of them could comment on the rather amazing trick, she said. "Well Rainbow Dash thank you again for letting us stay here, but sadly our cloud shelter is finished. Come on, Wonderbolts!"

Soarin' stepped up first, surprising Spitfire, all the others followed behind him soon after. As soon as all her Wonderbolt team mates flew a distance away, Spitfire turned to speak to Rainbow Dash. No one was there, and Spitfire looked around to see that Rainbow Dash had walked to the door, and was waiting for Spitfire to leave.

Spitfire was sort of hurt, that the Pegasus wanted her to leave so early but she turned and followed her team without another word.

Rainbow Dash felt strange as they all left, but she couldn't explain it, not even to herself. She walked to the edge of the cloud, and sat down. As she sat down, a pale azure blue flashed before her eyes, giving her quite a shock, which would've made her scream for help but a hoof covered her mouth before she could even attempt to.

"Don't say anything…" The gruff, quiet, and strangely cheerful voice of the colt said.

She nodded as he removed his hoof. As soon as it was away from her face, she gasped and said.

"Oh my gosh! You're…"

To be continued...

Trouble On The Horizon?

Soarin' sat at one of the many tables in the Wonderbolt's new vacation home's dining area, a fresh apple pie untouched infront of him on the wooden surface. He looked at it then turned his head gazing now at the open window a few feet away from him. He was looking in the sky for the messenger he sent earlier, but instead the sky was empty and void of any sign of life, only a few puffy clouds occupying the blue expanse of empty sky. He sighed, laying his head on the table next to the untouched pie.

"It's only been a few minutes...give him time..." Soarin' said to himself, gazing at the Wonderbolt suit on the pillow across from him.

"Please hurry..." he whispered, closing his eyes.

~At Rainbow Dash's House~

Rainbow Dash had stopped talking in mid-sentence to observe what the colt looked like fully. He had a blue and navy blue curly mane, with his coat being the pale whitish blue color like Soarin's coat. He had a brown bag that mail ponies would normally use, on his back, and a pair of Wonderbolt goggles on, giving Rainbow Dash the hint that he was, indeed, a Wonderbolt, because unlike the fake pairs of goggles with plastic lenses that were sold to the fans, these ones had glass lenses. Her nervous feeling started to creep up on her, and her thoughts started to work over time.

'Did I do something wrong? Oh no! What if I did? What if...they never let me join the team?!' Rainbow Dash thought in her head. She was snapped out of her thoughts when the Wonderbolt spoke up.

"You're Rainbow Dash, right?" He managed to pant out between breaths.

"What? Oh! Yeah, that's me, the fastest flier in all of Equestria!" Rainbow Dash said quickly, no matter how hard she tried to hide it, her nervousness was showing on her face.

"Yeah...Okay, well I have two letters for you..." He turns his head to the pack of mail and pulls out two scrolls with his mouth, and gives them to her.

She takes them and opens one placing the other on the white fluffy surface that was her cloud porch, knowing it wouldn't fall through. The colt was about to leave, but Rainbow Dash had a strange feeling she'd need to send a letter back in the future, so she set the letter in her hoof down, and called out to him.

"Hey, wait! What's your name?" Rainbow Dash yells up at him,

"High Winds, the Wonderbolt... Be seein' ya!" He nods to her before flying off in the direction of the giant cloud mass, that Dash assumed, was the Wonderbolt's new vacation spot. She shook her head, and picked up the letters in her mouth. She walked inside and sat the letters on her desk, right next to her own copy of Daring Do and the Griffon's Goblet. The desk, like most of the furniture, was made of light wood, and was made especially for her. Her cutie mark's outline indented into a drawer to her right. She sat on a pillow in front of the desk and started to read the opened letter first. The writing was easy to read, and was short, too.

The letter read:

'Dear Rainbow Dash,

Do you mind leaving the Wonderbolts alone for their vacation? Especially Soarin'. I mean he has been working really hard, and deserves some rest.

Thanks, Spitfire'

It also had a Wonderbolt's symbol next to Spitfire's name, but Rainbow Dash ignored it. Rainbow's ears laid themselves against her rainbow colored mane. Had she been bothering Soarin' the whole time? She shook that thought from her head and opened the other letter, which, like the other one, had a Wonderbolt symbol on it. This confused her a bit but she read on anyways. She first noticed this letter was a little less sloppy than Spitfire's, and longer, too.

The letter read:

'Dear Rainbow Dash,

If you read this after Spitfire's short letter, than you'll most likely be a bit more happy after reading this. I'm coming to Sugar Cube Corners to pick some food up tomorrow, then I will be heading to Sweet Apple Acres. I'd like you to meet me in the back fields just before sunset, so I can check on your wings. Wouldn't want a future member of the Wonderbolts to have her wings clipped, now would we?

See you then, Anonymously Anonymous'

Rainbow Dash's eyes widened like somepony's in a horror movie would after finding a dead body, but she told herself it'd be okay, and that it was just a quick wing-checkup. She wouldn't really be there for long, just a check up from...whoever, then she could head to Sugarcube Corners and sleep over in Pinkie's room with her other friends. Pinkie Pie had asked her a week or so before, and Dash, being the element of loyalty, told Pinkie she'd be there. She had a lot to do tomorrow, including the mysterious check up, Pinkie's cupcake sleepover, and, due to the fact tomorrow's weather called for clear skies, she also had to do her job.

She figured she'd go tell Pinkie about her plans and rest. She sat the letter on her desk, and went out the door. It was a clear, sunny day, and when Rainbow Dash looked down, all the ponies in Ponyville were enjoying it by either playing, flying, or having lunch with friends. Dash smiled and jumped down, with open wings. The wind hit her mane with a sudden blast, as she sped to her target location. She was heading to Sugar Cube Corners, more importantly, to Pinkie. She landed just outside the door, and went to open it just for the door to open itself and for somepony to bump into her and fall down.

"Umph..." Dash heard the small sound and looked down. There on the ground was the familiar pale yellow coated, light pink maned pegasus, Fluttershy.

"Oh, sorry Fluttershy!" She said lending a hoof to help her friend up.

"Oh it's quite alright, Dash, I was just about to start looking for you anyway..." Fluttershy spoke quietly as she got pulled up onto her hooves by Rainbow Dash. Fluttershy opened her mouth as if she was going to say more but Pinkie Pie interrupted by hopping out of the door of Sugar Cube Corners and bumping into Fluttershy making her fall once again.

"Oh, there you are Dashie! I just asked Fluttershy if she could find you! I had to get someone to tell you not to be late to the sleepover! Everyone that's an element of harmony is gonna be there..." Pinkie said quickly as Rainbow Dash started to speak.

"Actually Pinkie, I have to talk to you about that..." She started, just to be cut off by Pinkie

"...Especially the element of loyalty! Right Dash?" Pinkie asked the question obviously expecting an answer, as she stared directly at Dash.

Rainbow Dash couldn't think straight with all the pressure on her, so she just blurted something out.

"Heck yeah! I'll probably be there first!" Dash said, her instinct taking over. 'Oh no! Why'd I just say that? Stupid, stupid, stupid!' Dash thought in her head franticly.

"Yay, so now I know everyone's gonna be there! This is gonna be the best party ever!" Pinkie said, bouncing back into the door way of Sugar Cube Corners and closing the door behind her.

Rainbow Dash looked back at Fluttershy with the familar 'Can we talk?' look that they both knew well, not even noticing that Fluttershy had gotten up. With a nod of approval from Fluttershy, RD trotted behind her and followed her friend all the way to the quaint ground cottage her filly-hood friend lived in. When they arrived in front of the door, Fluttershy looked back at Dash. Her rainbow maned friend looked upset, with her gaze towards the ground and some of her mane over her right eye. She was eager to help and maybe even figure out what had her so down. She sat her pale yellow hoof on the wooden door and pushed gently. After a small creek of the the door, Fluttershy walked in the opened doorway followed by Rainbow Dash, who when inside, then sat down on Fluttershy's couch by the window.

"Would you like some tea, Dash...?" Fluttershy asked quietly.

"Uh...Sure, Fluttershy, that sounds great..." Dash said looking out the window, not really paying attention to what her friend said.

Fluttershy looked at Dash for a second before disappearing into the kitchen, Angel bunny following behind her.

Rainbow Dash moved her gaze from the window, remembering the last time she was in the quaint, homey cottage. It was the day when all the pegasi had to train their wings to create a huge tornado to lift the water from Ponyville's reserviour to Cloudsdale to make rain for all of Equestria. She remembered when she caught Fluttershy not practicing and went to the cottage to find her. When she got there and knocked, she found Fluttershy pretending to have the pony pox. She was letting loose fake coughs in a robe with "pony pox" all over her face. After giving Rainbow Dash a weak excuse Dash spoke up.

"Oh, you poor thing. You know, there's only one cure for pony pox..." Dash grabbed a bucket and filled it full of water.

"I know, plenty of bed-" She was cut off from saying anymore as Rainbow Dash had dumped the bucket of water on Fluttershy, washing the "pony pox" off.

"Cold water! Those pony pox are clearing right up!" Rainbow said after a small yelp came out of Fluttershy's mouth. Rainbow smiled to herself before noticing Fluttershy sitting accross from her and jumping a bit.

"Oh I'm sorry...did I scare you? I didn't mean to...you just looked so peaceful..." Fluttershy said in a panicked quiet tone. Rainbow Dash relaxed knowing Fluttershy wouldn't tell anypony.

"You didn't scare me...I uh...just finished a flashback..." Rainbow said looking away. It wasn't the full truth but atleast it wasn't a lie.

"Oh...okay...w-well you needed to...um...get something off your chest...?" Fluttershy asked looking Dash in the eyes again. Rainbow Dash sighed and nodded once causing Fluttershy to only wait until Dash finally said something.

"I got two letters from the Wonderbolts today..." Dash started and looked at Fluttershy. She looked confused but concentrated on what Rainbow Dash was saying, so Rainbow took that chance to continue. "One, from Spitifire, telling me to leave the Wonderbolts alone for their vacation..." Rainbow paused and Fluttershy frowned. "Weird thing though, is that she specifically told me to leave Soarin' alone because he has been apparently working really hard recently..." Dash said shortly after her silence. Fluttershy's ears perked up in surprise. The rainbow maned mare saw this and instantly opened her mouth to question it, just to get cut off by Fluttershy herself.

"Didn't they used to date...before they split it up a few months back...?" Fluttershy said aloud, and Dash scrunched up her face.

"So? What has that got to do with anything in her letter?" Dash replied her voice laced with confusion.

"Um...nothing...I hope...if you don't mind me asking...what about the other letter...?" Fluttershy replied quickly, as if she was solving some great mystery, but along with that, she was as gentle as a caring mother. Dash gave her the same confused face as before, and calmly replied back to her after a second.

"Well it had the same Wonderbolt's logo and design as Spitfire's letter except this one was from an anonymous Wonderbolt...telling me to meet them in the back fields of Sweet Apple Acres...said they're gonna check on my wings..." Rainbow Dash shuffled nervously in her seat, avoiding Fluttershy's gaze.

"Your wings? But they look fine..." Fluttershy questioned, tilting her head to get a better view of Dash's wings, all the while showing her confusion. Dash sighed and explained to Fluttershy what happened after her friends left and what had happened this morning. Throughout the explanation she received small gasps and high pitched squeaks from the yellow pegasus, but when she finished, Fluttershy was looking directly at her.

"Dash, um, why'd you come to me with this information...I mean it's no trouble but, uh, w-why me?" Fluttershy said quietly, looking directly into Dash's deep rose orbs.

"Well...I need advice, and I've known you since flight school...and, yeah...So, your advice, Shy?" Dash said quickly trying to avoid sounding sappy and getting straight to the point.

"Well...uh...I could send you with one of my animal friends...then I could tell Pinkie...um...that your helping my friend and will be at the party alittle late...if you want..." Fluttershy said quietly, presenting her idea to Dash. The cyan mare thought about it for a second, and shrugged.

"Sounds good but what happens if something...bad...happens?" Dash asked the light pink maned mare, keeping her eyes locked on the floor.

"Well my friend would um...would alert us..." She replied quietly. "Oh I know who we can ask too...don't you worry Dashie, nothing will happen to you while he's on the watch..." She paused and smiled innocently "Some say he's got the eyes of a hawk...but the cry of the..." Fluttershy looked at Dash and squeaked cutely "...falcon!" Fluttershy whispered and began to giggle quietly.

Rainbow Dash sighed closing her eyes for a second then smiling at her friend's sudden humor at her event. She stood up on her hooves and spoke up quickly.

"Well, Shy, I'm gonna get going...I think I need a nap after all of this talking..." Dash said, laughing. Fluttershy smiled and nodded. After exchanging goodbyes, Dash exited the small cottage with a quick flap of her wings and rocketed towards her house. After a minute or so she landed on the fluffy cloud surface of her porch with a loud yawn. She was tired and she figured after napping she could go and practice a few tricks. She smiled smugly and walked into her house, her day going perfectly.

~Later at the Wonderbolt's vacation home~

Soarin' wandered the halls looking for High Winds hoping to talk to him about something that's been on his mind for awhile. He stood out among the other Wonderbolt's in the halls because he was the only one not wearing the aerial jumpsuit, but that didn't matter to Soarin'. He just wanted to have a nice relaxing vacation out of the normal celebrity routine. He also wanted Spitfire to leave anyone he hung out with on the vacation alone, and that was what High Winds was for. He stopped at one of the rooms and knocked on the door.

"Hey High Winds, you in there?" Soarin' asked from the hall.

"Yeah Soar! Come on in, bro!" A voice said from the other side of the door. Soarin' pushed on the door and opened it. He quickly walked in, shutting the door behind him, and looked at High Winds. Even though High Winds and him looked alike, they weren't brothers, although they both felt as if they were.

"Any news on Spitfire and her mail...?" Soarin' asked quietly. High Wings nodded and told Soarin' about the letter sent to Rainbow Dash and how he read it over before re-tying the scroll shut and sending it.

"Oh great...now she's jealous over that rainbow maned mare..." Soarin' grumbled. "Thank's High Winds...I need to go think this through..." He finished then walked out of High Wind's room and into the hallway. Before he could even turn around a white and yellow blur stopped infront of him.

"Soarin'! Soarin'! Hey! There you are! I need you to do me a HUUUUGE favor tomorrow, okay? Oh, please please please!" Said the energy filled Wonderbolt, Surprise. She had on an urgent face, so Soarin' wondered what it could possibly be.

"Okay Surprise, but what is it?" He asked quietly, a smirk on his face. Surprise's favors almost always benefitted him greatly.

"Well I need you to go to Sweet Apple Acres and buy two pies...then wait for me to pick them up in the back fields..." She said giggling

"Okay...but why and when?" Soarin' replied. This was alittle suspicious, even for Surprise. It took a minute for her to reply, but she did eventually.

"They're for me but because I have to help a few others get the pies from Sugarcube Corners I can't um...get the ones at Sweet Apple Acres." Surprise paused. "Oh and be there a bit before sun down and don't wear your uniform, okay? Kay, bye Soarin! You'll thank me later...Uh I mean...I'll thank YOU later! BYE!" She finished talking and sped off down the hallway before Soarin' could even think about questioning what she just said a second ago. He sighed and shook his head.

"She's so random sometimes..." He whispered and turned opposite to the direction Surprise went and began the short trip to his room. It was time to do some serious thinking and maybe even take a shower.

~Later at Dash's house~

It was dark, the only illumination coming from the moon. The light shining on a sleeping cyan blue pegasus, as she tossed and turned in her sleep. Her dream was normal at first, she was flying at a high speed nothing else but the sky and a few clouds around her. Then a yellow bolt with white wings came down and she stopped abruptly.

"What the hay...?" She whispered looking at the bolt in fascination before a flash blinded her, followed by a large roar of thunder. When Dash looked back towards the bolt again, it wasn't there. In it's place was Soarin' in his Wonderbolts uniform, smiling and holding out a hoof towards her. Dash smiled and floated towards him, her wings slowly flapping. All of the sudden, she felt burning on her back and smelled smoke, and turned her head to look behind her.

"I said...DON'T BOTHER HIM!" A very furious Spitfire screeched, as her hooves started to get surrounded by fire, engulfing whatever they were touching in flames, and they were resting on Dash's cyan wings. Dash screamed, and jerked up, opening her eyes in a flash, and scanned the room for anything that was in her dream. The only things even close were the Wonderbolts posters. She stared at one with Spitfire on it and panted heavily. She shook her head and sighed.

"I need to go out for a night fly..." she whispered to herself, then yawned. "Then some more sleep wouldn't hurt..." She finished, completely forgetting what she said earlier, and crawling off of her soft bed. She looked around her room for a second and let out another sigh. Dash didn't know why she had such a big house built. After a while it started to get lonely, with all its empty space. She shrugged, opened her wings, and sped outside, ready for a nice night fly.

A slight breeze ruffled Dash's mane as she stopped to look at the moon. It was a waxing gibbous, and the light was shining on everything and everypony who was even out this late, making it easy to see an abundance of things. Rainbow Dash smiled, and began her evening flight by flying at a casual speed...well...what she counted as casual anyway. After a second she started flying towards the moon, stopping halfway and performing some minor tricks like loop de loops and corkscrews for a few minutes, then continuing flying towards the front of the moon. She stopped there and smiled, taking in the view of Ponyville, and Sweet Apple Acres enveloped by the whitish glow of the moon, making the drops of a recent rainstorm visible on many of the roofs to Dash's deep rose pegasus eyes. After a while she sped off once again, heading towards her house. She landed on her cloud porch softly, too sleepy to do any more tricks, and went inside to rest, thinking no one saw her.

This was not the case, however, as two Wonderbolts in the far off distant cloud home saw everything. The navy maned colt could've sworn he just saw the most beautiful pony in Equestria, not knowing himself, that it was Dash. The only thing he knew was that she was a pegasus, due to the fact she was in the sky. Even with his pegasus eyes, he couldn't see in the dark, or even THAT far away. The pony was a speck in his vison, but an imprint into his mind. Soarin' smiled, vowing to find that pony and get to know them. Be friends if it was a colt, and if a mare...maybe more.

The other Wonderbolt knew exactly who it was and scowled. Spitfire would have to work overtime to keep the bolts away from that little mare.

"She'll never get Soarin', not while I'm around..." She hissed and turned to the pony whom she hired to watch Soarin' and smiled. "Understand?" Spitfire asked.

"Yes ma'am, keep Soarin' and Rainbow Dash from seeing, or communicating with eachother..." The pony replied as if following the order could risk the fate of Equestria.

"Good, now go hit the hay...or should I say can?" Spitfire replied cruelly and laughed. The pony glared and left the room. Once out they trotted to their room.

"Don't worry Spitfire...You'll get what's coming to ya...and next time you'll kick the can...but instead of fans knowing where you are, Rainbow Dash will know what you were trying to do with that letter..." She muttered, venom dripping off of every word, as she entered her room. Taking off her goggles and uniform she laid in bed staring at the ceiling plotting ways to get Dash and Soarin' together without Spitfire in her mane.

-TO BE CONTINUED!!! DUN DUN DUN!-

Before The Awesomness

The next morning, Dash woke up to the sound of knocking at her door. She groaned.

"No one's home..." She shouted and turned over in her bed hugging her pillow to her chest, while her covers, kicked off the bed in the middle of the night, laid on the floor.

"Daaashie~! Come ONNNN, sleepyhead! It's already mid afternoon, and if you don't get up now, you'll miss your date with- I mean the check up with the Wonderbolt!" A giggly voice replied from outside the door. It was Pinkie Pie but Dash wondered how she got up here in the first place.

"Pinkie, please try not to be so loud! I'm sure Dash just woke up." This was a different voice but she'd been friends with the alicorn long enough to know that it was Twilight Sparkle. Well...there's the answer to how Pinkie got up here. Twilight had been practicing really hard lately and seemed to be getting the hang of flying.

"Y-Yeah...She does sleep a lot..." The shy voice of Fluttershy made her immediately get up and fly to the door. She opened the door quickly taking in the sight of her three friend's faces.

"HEY! I ONLY SLEEP A LOT BECAUSE I PUT IN A LOT OF PRACTICE AND IT MAKES ME REALLY TIRED!" She stated loudly with a huff and walked out of her house, closing the door behind her. She rubbed her eyes. "How long until sunset Twilight?" She asked with a yawn.

"It's only mid afternoon...so we could probably go to Applejack's farm and eat before you head to the back fields. Sound good?" Twilight asked, looking straight at Rainbow Dash. Dash's stomach growled right after Twilight finished.

"Sounds awesome actually..." RD grinned and looked down at Sweet Apple Acres when it hit her. "Wait...how did you know about the meeting with the Wonderbolt?" She asked looking over at Fluttershy.

"Sorry Dashie...but I felt like everyone should know about the meeting..." Fluttershy said gently, looking down at the cloud under her hooves causing her mane to slide over one of her eyes.

"That's okay Fluttershy...I was probably gonna tell them later anyway." Dash says with a shrug and smiles. "Now how about we all go get something to eat? I'm starving!"

Without waiting for an answer Rainbow Dash zoomed off towards Sweet Apple Acres. After about a minute or so she arrived at Sweet Apple Acres and gracefully landed next to Applejack, who was standing next to a table watching Dash with a smirk on her face.

"Figures you'd rush over here at the sound of free lunch..." Applejack chuckles and nods to a small group of blurs off in the distance. "...they aren't even close, sugarcube!"

Rainbow Dash laughed and sat down at the food laden table. It was covered with a few of the apple family's most popular goods which were apple pies and apple fritters. There were six apple juice boxes all set around the table too.

"Tables already set...so don't act like you didn't expect me to race down here!" Dash sat down next to Applejack and waited. A few minutes later the rest of the mane 6 was seated and eating.

In the back fields...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Soarin' facehoofed and sighed in front of Surprise.
"So you guys picked up all the pies...and I have to check on Rainbow Dash all of a sudden? I'm starting to feel like I was set up..." Soarin' groaned and sat down on ground.
"Well...that's the only thing I have left to do, plus I didn't expect for the other wonderbolts to help me today and this is really important because of her hurt wing and yeah, plus I think you'll get along!" Surprise said quickly causing Soarin' to regret staying up late last night to watch that flier.
"Surprise...I'll do it now just please leave for now..." He says defeated. He didn't even eat breakfast this morning and he was starving.
"YAY! Thank you Soarin'! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Oh and here, you probably didn't eat this morning did you?" Surprise smiled and set a pie in front of him. Where she got it he didn't know but he didn't care.
"No I didn't. Thanks Surprise!" He smiles and digs in. Surprise sticks around for a second more before flying away.
It didn't take Soarin' long to finish the pie, in fact he still had a good amount of time before Dash would be here.
"Well...a nap couldn't hurt..." He mutters before climbing into an apple tree and laying himself down in a patch of comfortable leafy goodness. After a couple of minutes he was out like a light.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

2 or 3 hours later...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rainbow Dash was flying towards the back fields at a casual pace due to her nervousness. Who would the wonderbolt be? Would it be Spitfire? Fleetfoot? Soarin? All these questions gave birth to new questions like why they suggested to meet up. Was this really about her injury? She shook her head and looked up at the sky towards the hawk flying overhead. She smiled and remembered that she didn't have to worry. She had eyes in the sky and her friends waiting for her to return. Rainbow Dash dropped her gaze back towards the trees in front of her. There were plenty of apple trees around her so all she could see was the green of the leaves, brown reddish color of the tree trunks, the almost white-blue of a sleeping figure in the branches and the blue sk- Wait...what? White blue? Sleeping pony? In the branches?
Dash blinked a couple of times before she noticed that Soarin' was the pony who was sleeping in the tree. She smirked and instantly thought of a wicked way to wake him up...but figured that probably wouldn't make Soarin' happy...and if Soarin' wasn't happy, then she guessed Spitfire wasn't happy and so on and so forth, not letting Rainbow Dash on the team and such. She shook her head and prodded the colt in the face.
"Hey uh...Soarin'? Wakey wakey...?" She tried saying quietly but he stayed fast asleep. She'd need to be loud if she wanted to wake this pegasus up.
"HEY! SOARIN'! GET UP!" Rainbow Dash yelled pushing Soarin' out of the branch easily. Soarin' jolted awake but still fell on his stomach.
"Owwww!" Soarin groaned and stood up, rubbing his stomach. The moment he saw Rainbow Dash, he instantly became alert. Even though he was alert all the colt could utter, with a stupid grin on his face, was...
"Oh hey Rainbow Dash."
Still Not To The Awesome Part Yet
By the time Soarin' and Rainbow Dash had finished with the check up and talking about several things, including the letters she had received and Soarin' getting set up to be in the field for the check up, the moon had risen. After a couple minutes of silence, Soarin' figured he might as well check out Dash's wing. He looked at Dash and prodded her wing with his shoulder.
"Hey, maybe we should go ahead and test out that wing?" Soarin' said with a smirk.
Dash looked at him for a second and grinned. She flew into the air quickly, catching Soarin' off guard and causing him to jump.
"What type of test, you scaredy cat?" Dash laughed and flew behind him.
Soarin' laughed and turned his head to grin at her. "How about a trick challenge? I'll tell you a trick to do and you perform it..." Soarin said "...and just so you know I'm not gonna go easy on you! A test is a test!"
"Bring it on!" Rainbow Dash said and flew up in front of the moon. This gave Soarin' an idea.
"I want you to do a couple of high speed corkscrews, then from that make two loop de loops and then show me some of your other tricks!" Soarin' yelled up to the mare. Rainbow Dash nodded and began the routine. First came four corkscrews followed by two tight circles. Then quickly she flew in a big circle around the moon. Afterward, she flew around two clouds and made them into the shapes of ponies.
Soarin' wasn't paying attention after she performed the loop de loops though...because he had found her. The pony that had been a beautiful flying shape the night before, was the pony in front of him now. Her beauty was out of this world as the moon shone on her rainbow mane, making the colors shine like the northern lights. The fact that the mystery pony was Dash made it even better, considering he had developed a small crush on the mare after she first saved him and the other two wonderbolts at the Cloudsdale Young Flyers Competition. Then when she had saved his pie it only made him like the mare even more. He watched as Rainbow Dash finished up with a final loop de loop and flew down next to him.
"So coach, how did I do? Am I fit to fly in the next race?" Rainbow Dash joked.
"That was great! Your wing seems to be in perfect flying condition. You're a really fast healer Dash. But I have one question." Soarin' replied and bit his lip nervously about what he was gonna say next. Rainbow started to get a bit impatient waiting for an answer, so she decided to question the hesitating colt.
"Okay...so what's the question?" Rainbow asks.
Soarin sighs and looks her in the eye. "Would you care to go on a date with me tomorrow? I've kind of had a small crush on you for awhile now...and that performance was stunning...I just wanna give us a shot and see where it goes." He says, blushing and rubbing the back of his neck with his hoof.
Her eyes widened and a blush appeared on her cheeks, she was surprised. She ran a hoof through her mane and she thought for a second. He was a wonderbolt. She probably shouldn't be going on dates with wonderbolts, but her heart told her to give Soarin' a chance. He seemed to be a pretty cool guy. He had a good sense of humor, he was handsome, and he was also a great flier. Rainbow Dash had made up her mind.
"Sure. Drop by my place in two days at noon?" Rainbow Dash smiled.
"Y-Yeah! Anyway I better get going. I'll see you later Dash!" Soarin smiled and waved a goodbye, before flying away towards the Wonderbolt Vacation home.
Rainbow Dash watched him fly off for a minute before flying towards Sugar Cube Corner to meet the girls.
-----------------------------------------
      A couple of minutes later...
-----------------------------------------
Dash flew next to Pinkie's window and knocked twice.
"Hey Pinks, open up!" Rainbow said through the window. She saw a purple aura surrounding the window before it slid right open. Twilight must already be here, she thought. The other girls were probably here too. Usually Twilight would be the last to arrive due to her being busy with Princess business and all her egghead stuff, but Dash had arrived later than usual due to the checkup. She flew through the window with a big smile still on her face.
"Hello Rainbow Dash! We were starting to get worried." Twilight smiled as Dash took a seat on a pillow, to the right of Applejack.
"Well there was nothing to worry about. Soarin' checked my wing and made me do a couple of trick runs to test it. It was pretty awesome!" Dash said, leaving out the date detail, but smiling widely at the thought of it.
"You've been nothin' but smiles and giggles since you got here Dash..." Applejack said, nudging Rainbow's shoulder with a smirk. "...and I reckon' it has somethin' to do with Mr. Soarin' the Wonderbolt. Mind sharin' with the rest of the room?"
Dash nudged Applejack back and stuck her tongue out at her, before replying with "I don't know what you're talking about!"
"Daaaashiiiieeee! Tell ussssss!" Pinkie squealed while bouncing in place on a pillow to the left of Rainbow Dash.
"Yes darling, please tell us. We are your friends after all." Rarity added with a smile, sitting on a very fancy red pillow that she had probably brought from the boutique. Twilight nodded and looked over at Dash.
"You don't have to tell us if you don't want to...but we definitely won't tell anyone else should you choose to tell us." Twilight said calmly.
Dash looked at all of her friends and noticed that Fluttershy hadn't spoken yet. "Fluttershy...what about you? Would you like to know too?" Dash looked over at Fluttershy who looked quite interested despite her silence.
"Well...I-I wouldn't mind hearing about it...but I'm not gonna force you to talk about it. You can tell us if you want...or you don't have to...that's okay too." Fluttershy replied and smiled timidly at Rainbow.
"Well...it's not that big, so I guess I can tell you guys..." Dash said.
"Spit it out, Sugarcube!" Applejack said while poking Dash's shoulder with her hoof.
"I'm getting to it, AJ, calm down! Anyway...Soarin' asked me out on a date." Rainbow had barely said 'date' before Twilight, Rarity, and Pinkie all squealed loudly. Fluttershy had squealed too but hers was barely above a whisper. Applejack and Dash both covered their ears with their hooves until they saw Twilight mouth the words, 'We're done'. Applejack and Dash both uncovered their ears before Applejack turned to Rainbow Dash and grinned.
"Congrats on the date Sugarcube!" AJ said before Rarity began to talk.
"When is it darling? I simply must know if I am to make a dress for you-" Rarity started before getting cut off by Rainbow Dash.
"It's in two days at noon and I'm not wearing a dress. Soarin' and me are just gonna hang out in casual wear...no offense Rarity." Rainbow sighed.
"Well what about-" Rarity started.
"No jewelry either." Rainbow Dash interrupted.
Rarity sighed and quietly mumbled an "okay" before Pinkie bursted out talking.
"WE SHOULD THROW YOU TWO A "CONGRATULATIONS FOR GOING ON YOUR FIRST DATE" PARTY!" Pinkie said excitedly, still bouncing on the pillow.
"Sorry Pinks but I think I'd rather it just be a normal date. Just me and him for now, okay? Maybe if Soarin and I work out you can throw us an awesome party." Rainbow replied with a huge grin.
"Oh boy! That'd be so great! I'm gonna start planning IMMEDIATELY...well...after the slumber party of course!" Pinkie giggled excitedly and looked over to Twilight with a smile. "Hey Twilight how about you start us off?"
"Well I'm sure I speak for all of us when I say congrats Rainbow! Now how about we get this slumber party started?" Twilight said and looked at the other five. Seeing nods from everypony, she spoke again. "Truth or dare anyone?"
-----------------------------------------
   At the wonderbolt vacation home...
-----------------------------------------
"So, what you are telling me is that Soarin' went to check on Rainbow Dash's injury, figured out it was her flying the night before, and now they are going on a date tomorrow?" Spitfire looked over at the pony in front of her with tired eyes.
"Yes ma'am. That is exactly how it happened." Fleetfoot replied taking notice of the lack of rage the pegasus in front of her seemed to have.
"Okay. Thank you for informing me. You are dismissed." Spitfire said before spinning the chair 180 degrees so that she could look out the window. Fleetfoot looked at the back of the chair, feeling kind of bad for Spitfire, but after a bit she turned and walked out the door. Spitfire sat there for a couple of minutes before the door opened again. This time it was a security guard.
Oddly enough, this particular security guard was a unicorn instead of a pegasus. She had emerald green eyes and a pale cornflower blue coat, similar to Soarin's, but her mane was a striped pattern of cyan and violet. She had a pair of goggles around her neck with gold rimmed rainbow lenses, and a black and white strap.
"Soarin' just got back, Spitfire. Would you like me to retrieve him for you?" The security guard asked.
"No thank you, Chaos Spectrum. I'll go find him myself. Go get lunch. I'm sure keeping that spell up all the time takes a lot out of you and you are probably starving." Spitfire grinned as she heard Spectrum's stomach growl.
"Ah...yes...Thank you Spitfire." She sheepishly smiles and salutes Spitfire before using a teleportation spell and disappearing.
"Silly mare..." Spitfire shook her head with a smile and decided it was time to go see Soarin'. She walked out of her office and down a couple of halls, thinking about what she'd say to Soarin'. After a couple of minutes, she arrived infront of Soarin's room and knocked on the door with a frown on her face. The door opened to reveal a happy looking Soarin'.
"Oh, Spitfire...What do you need?" Soarin' looked as if he had been expecting someone other than her, but this wouldn't take long.
"I just wanted to talk to you for a second. I heard that you are going on a date with Dash. Is it true?" Spitfire walked inside of his room and sat on his bed.
"Yes it is. Why do you wanna know?" Soarin' sat on the bed next to her and sighed.
"Well that's okay with me. I just don't want you to get hurt...so be careful and don't move too fast okay? You're like a brother to me Soarin, and I don't like to see you hurt." Spitfire smiles and looks at Soarin'. Soarin' looks surprised but happy.
"Okay...will do Spitfire! Thanks." Soarin' smiles and hugs Spitfire. Spitfire hugs him back for a second then gets off the bed and walks over to the door.
"I've gotta go take care of something. I'll see you later Soarin'." Spitfire says and, without waiting for a response, she walks out the door. A few doors down she stops and knocks on a door. Fleetfoot opens the door and looks surprised to see Spitfire.
"Hey...I know I've been acting really rude to you lately and I'm sorry. You know the details between Soarin and me. I hope you forgive me because I don't think I could stand to lose my best friend." Spitfire says, looking at the ground, letting her ears lay back on her head. Fleetfoot looks at her for a second then sighs and smiles.
"I forgive you Spitfire..." Fleetfoot replies. "...now would you like to come inside and talk? You know, like we used to?"
"I would love to." Spitfire smiles and walks into Fleetfoot's room, closing the door behind her.
-----------------------------------------
     The very next day....
-----------------------------------------
The next day, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie, Applejack, Twilight, Rarity, and Fluttershy ended up sleeping until late in the afternoon due to staying up so late. Rainbow left quickly, remembering that she forgot to feed Tank. Within a minute or two she arrived at her house and landed on her cloud porch.
"Tank, come here buddy!" Rainbow Dash called and walked into her house, before filling up Tank's food bowl. Tank came flying around the corner and began eating his food. Dash smiled and stroked Tank.
"Good boy!" Rainbow said before she heard a knock at the door. She instantly flew over to the door and opened it to see Spitfire.
"Oh hey Spitfire." Dash nervously said before closing the door behind her. "Need something?"
"Well first, I want to apologize for sending you that letter to you. Soarin' can hang out with whoever he wants and if that means he wants to hang out with you then that's cool with me."
"Oh okay...its no problem at all. I know you two were once a couple...so I guess I understand where you were coming from." Dash chuckled nervously.
Spitfire nodded and then continued to speak. "Second, I heard that you and Soarin' are going on a date tomorrow. All I ask is that you have a great time on your date." Spitfire smiles.
Rainbow Dash's nerves instantly melted away and she smiled. "I'll definitely try." Spitfire hugs Dash.
"Thanks, Rainbow! I'll see you later!" Spitfire waved and Dash watched her fly away towards the wonderbolt vacation cloud before turning around and walking back into her house. She walked into her room and sprawled out across her bed.
"A little bit more sleep couldn't hurt..." Dash yawned and fell asleep.
(( ...and then the ferocious, monstrosity of a cliffhanger reared its head, causing you to be filled with, not fear, but sadness...for you now must wait for Ch. 5!))
