(This story is marked "Romance" for a reason.)
Part 3:
I stood up from talking to Pann and turned towards Blueblood he was just shorter then me when I stood up. He towered over all his servants, but I was still taller. Time to put on a show neither him nor his servants would forget, and there was like 10 or so of them surrounding him. I put on my best Southern accent I could, cleared my throat and called out to him, “CUZ!”
I ran up to him to put an arm around him, “Whoa nelly it’s been donkey’s yonks, since ah’ done seen ya last. Remember that thar rodeo that done happened last year? Man those t’wer good times.” Then I put on my best snobby noble accent and said, “But I dare say, how is it exactly that you managed to get yourself cleaned up from all that filth and muck.” I stepped away from him, turned around and held my hands out wide and said in the voice that most would find in a lawyer, “Ladies’n’Gennelmen of the jury. I’d like you all to know that said rodeo never actually happened… That was just me making my point.” I paced back and forth with my right hand on my face and left hand on my right elbow in front of the line of servants that gathered to watch the spectacle. “But I’d like to have you know on why I’ve made such a point.” I then stopped to look at Blood and pinch my chin with my thumb and index finger in pensive argument with my self, “It is evident to me, and the rest of the people here that Mister Blueblood here doesn’t follow up on current affairs, that of my witness, who has decided to remain anonymous, has charitably informed me that this member of the equine species doesn’t know who I am, Isn’t that correct?” I pointed to Blueblood and waited for an answer.
I was expecting a huge OBJECTION but instead I got a, “Umm yes?”, what a buzz kill.
“I thought so, but I’ll get back to that later…” I dropped my act like an anchor, and spoke normally, “From what I have heard; Blueblood here doesn’t know that noble and nobility are two different words, for one can have nobility…” I gestured my hand towards the servant audience and continued, “Without the need to be a noble.” I pointed my finger towards Blueblood and continued, “The way I see it, is that these servants, maids, butlers, or what ever else people/ponies here, guards included…” I looked towards the white horses with wings and golden armor that had joined the group of servants and I continued, “… have higher nobility than us two combined.”
“Hardly likely.” He mumbled.
“Hardly likely? I find that hard to believe, Sir Blueblood. I don’t see you defending members of the royal family…” I gestured to the guard audience, they seemed to nod but I wouldn’t have a clue, these guys sure know how to play poker, “… Or cleaning the stained glass that represents your history…” I gestured towards the supposed cleaners, “… And from what I’ve seen and heard from my short walk, having the decency and loyalty to stay by you even with all the taunts and commands that you yourself give out.” I paused for a bit and waited for a response from the Prince.
“G-Guards! Put this beast in the hold!” He commanded the white pegasi. They advanced towards me with a serious look on their faces.
“Well… I can see where this is going, ALTHOUGH! I’m not sure if my mother, AKA. Your aunt would approve of such shenanigans.” The pegasi stopped advancing as they realized what I meant.
“How dare you mock my aunt Princess Celestia like that? Guards I will not ask again-“ he began to say, with a stern look on his face.
“Then don’t, and I hardly say that mocking my mother would be a very wise action giving the place I am currently in.” I interrupted him.
“What do you mean; mother?” He inquired.
I sighed, “If you must be told again, my birth mother and father were… Unfortunately, killed in the corrupt world that I lived in, however, being the thoughtful and kind mother that she was, bless her heart, she gave me to Princess Celestia, knowing that she will take care of me, had you listened in the past few days even you might have the slightest clue of what I’m saying-”
“What is going on here?” Came a regal voice from out side the group, the group parted leaving a line that the princess of the sun can walk through.
“Princess! This beast is insulting royal honor!” Blueblood called out to his aunt, I merely stayed quiet awaiting the princess’s response, while bowing on one knee of course.
“Prince Steven? Is such claims true?” She asked, I then replied.
“Not entirely, I was not insulting royal honor as he had said, I was just giving credit to the working forces of this castle.” I then heard a murmur of agreement from the crowd, “I only hope that over-exaggerating is the only trait that Blueblood and I share.”
“That’s Prince to you Hyeu-mane Bean!” He objected.
“I don’t think you have even EARNED the title Blueblood, oh and it’s Human Being.” I simply restated. His face was Priceless! He was giving off enough hot air out of his ears he’d replace the furnace on a hot air balloon. I then saw Pann up next to the princess talking to her. After a few seconds of silence the princess came to a conclusion.
“Steven, my son, I believe that Ms. Pann was showing you to the balcony, meanwhile I would like to have a chat to my nephew, in private.”
Thank you ladies and gentlemen you have been a wonderful audience!
/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\
Pann was walking me back on the track towards the balcony, however unlike last time, this walk didn’t have all the ponies staring at me in disgust, only respect and admiration for what I had done.
Pann directed me to an archway, and said “That one has the best view out of all of them, I’ll leave you to it.” She turned around and started to walk away, and she called back, “Meanwhile I have rooms to attend to, best of luck!”
I looked towards the archway as I anticipated the fresh air, I moved towards the balcony, but I heard steps that weren’t my own. I looked around but I was the only one here. I heard a heavy sigh and someone speak, “Another day gone, another night to be.” I stood against the wall and peered out the archway and saw Luna there standing at the rails of the balcony, “And Steven is gone, and his son will never know.” She faced up and began to flap, her horn seemed to shine as she rose of the balcony, the flaps became less constant as pure magic levitated her there; and then I saw the most wonderful thing. The sun lowered below the horizon as a greyish yellow disk took its place, the moon lifted a bit more and what appeared to be a cloud of purple smoke appeared behind it, the purple smoke then dissipated throughout the entire night sky then disappeared, revealing a beautiful starry night sky. I was too engrossed in the sky that I didn’t notice the weeping princess on the ground until a few seconds after she had landed.
“Princess?” I quietly said.
“Wha-?” She shot up from her position and looked towards me, with her cheeks stained with fresh tears. Her teary eyes reflected the moon’s shine as she looked at me, “Oh… It’s you.”
I went towards her and she went back to her curled up position. I kneeled down next to her and she seemed to curl up further, I hesitated, but I asked her, “Princess… What would I never know?”
She looked up at me, with those eyes, those perfect round teal blue eyes, I could get lost in those forever, she closed them and looked to the floor. I sat down cross legged next to her, Gilda complained against my back, I just took her off and placed her next to me; there was a woman in need. I didn’t really know how to deal with emotional women, but with all the shows and movies I’ve seen I concluded that emotional women just need someone there for them. I lifted my hand and moved it towards the night princess, it was a few seconds of deliberation but in the end I decided that I should give her a comforting hand. I put my hand on her back, her fur felt nice between my fingers, and swayed it back and forth.
“Shhhh, it’s alright.” I softly comforted her; all I wanted then was for her to be ok.
She mumbled something, “Plmm orr geetah” she quietly commanded but I couldn’t decipher her mumbles.
“What?” I quietly asked, she lifted her head up, but didn’t look at me.
“Your gee-tar, it amplifies what you want inside, concentrate on what you want, and play it.” She told me, and then she put her head back down.
“Umm, Ok?” I skeptically said. I reached for my guitar, I knew I couldn’t play it without the amp; I positioned it in my lap anyway. Think about what you want, and play. I reminded myself, I thought about it, and I realized I wanted her to be happy, to stop crying, but then a deeper thought crossed my mind. Do I want her to? No, she just needs to be happy; I want her to be happy. I locked that thought in my head, and strummed the guitar.
To my surprise the sound played as if it had an amp already attached, I continued playing, and it felt natural. I wanted her to be happy, I played a slow low series of notes, then I elevated pitch and speed, and started playing a happy volley of medium toned notes. It was a surreal feeling playing Gilda, I wasn’t just hearing the song. I was… Feeling it?
She lifted her head and turned to me, she was smiling softly. I continued playing and she got up and shifted her position, then she laid her body around me and I felt her warmth on my lower back, a cool warmth, and I continued playing my guitar. Her head was at my right knee and her flank at my left, I kept playing as I looked at her tail, it was swishing back and forth in time with the music. She shifted her head again, her muzzle was at my knee, and I felt her breath against it. It felt good. I kept playing as I let my thoughts drift. She put her tail on my left leg and started moving it along the length of my shin. Her soft tail, her soft fuzzy playful tail was rubbing my shin, I liked it, and it felt nice. I looked down at her head as she put it on my right leg. Mmm… This feels nice. I thought to myself, I stopped playing Gilda and put my right hand on her head, I moved it down her head and over her cheek, then down underneath her chin and started to rub under her jaw. She closed her eyes in bliss as a lazy smile emerged on her lips. She lifted her head away and straightened out on the floor. She looked at me with her tired loving eyes, and beckoned me to do the same.
I wanted to make her happy. I took off my coat, put it on the floor and put Gilda on top of it. I then adjusted my position and laid down facing her with my right side to the ground. I looked into her teal eyes and she looked into mine. This moment could not be more perfect… I lazily thought. Then I remembered something.
“Now, what was it I’ll never know?” I kindly asked her. She looked at my eyes and replied.
“Who your father loved before he left me.” She said softly. I knew what she had meant.
“I thought he loved Celestia?” I questioned. She frowned.
“When you asked that question, in the human world, I couldn’t answer then and tell you the truth. Because I was the male.” She laughed lightly and smiled, “It would have been awkward then.”
“Oh…” I said, I tuned on my back and looked up, “My father fell in love with the night…” I realized out loud, but said it softly. She shifted across to me and lay next to me. I put my arm around her head and neck and we just lay there for a time. I could feel her forelegs pressing against my right side and one of her back hind legs on my thigh, and her tail…
I just realized what was happening, and why it was so wrong. She was a horse. I was falling for a horse.
I felt her snout on my neck. My dad probably did the same thing. Now it was more awkward than before, I was falling for a horse that my dad fell for.
I turned my head towards her and looked at her, and she looked at me. The doubt was evident on my face. Realization struck her features and she backed away and frowned.
“Oh… I’m sorry, I-I got carried away.” She hesitantly said.
“No, it’s alright Princess.” I put my hand on her head; my fingers were on her cheek and my thumb was on the top of her head. After a bit I sat up and crossed my legs, I tried to get what just happened out of my mind. She shifted her position she laid stomach first with her forelegs underneath her. (What? You expect me to describe her back legs? What do you think I am? A pervert?)
I thought a bit and I remembered I had some more questions to ask, “Princess?”
“Yes?” She replied lazily with a hint of disappointment.
“I know it seems odd but, how did you know about the three items?” I asked her, willing to pry her from the information.
“What items?” she curtly responded.
I leaned back and put my hands behind me for balance, “The -uh-, my coat, Gilda and the shades.”
“Oh those.” She paused for consideration, “Well, before your father left this land to live with Alexandra on earth, and to raise you, he asked for 2 things. The first was that he asked both Celestia and I for a favor, he didn’t want to forget this beautiful land.”
“I can see why.” I agreed.
“The day before he left he asked if he could be connected to us in any way at all, I suggested dream sharing, but Celestia refused, she wouldn’t be able to do that. So instead, Celestia suggested a permanent thought link between us, a thought link is tricky stuff, it enables the connected to share thoughts and senses, it needs a rune symbol to help so we went to the garden and drew the rune into the grass. The spell worked brilliantly and as soon as the light and smoke died down, I felt, connected, to both Alexandra and Steven, it was an idle connection, but it was there nonetheless. I could still feel your father with me when he left.”
She paused for a bit, “The second favor however, he asked only me, the night before he was to go. He wanted me to enchant three items for him, the three you mentioned. I gave the three items specific traits: The coat, I enchanted so that only you can take it off, so it stays on no matter how much the wind disagrees with it, it also protects you from all destructive magic (y’no, fire, water, ice, air, super awesome laser thingies, ect.), except for levitated objects, unless it’s been summoned, but it also provides your body with an extremely high pain tolerance if it hasn’t.” I nodded when I recalled my recent battle with Stacy, “Oh yeah, and it also dissipates levitation auras used against you, so you don’t get picked up and tossed around yourself.”
“Gilda was a special enchantment, there are some not-so-magical enchants then there are the most magical, some of the not-so-magical ones is that it doesn’t need an amplifier for ponies to hear it being played. Also another one is that it will always be tuned right. The most magical difference Gilda has that other gee-tars don’t is that it uses the power of music to amplify what the user has willed, also the gee-tar will control your hands, sort-of-like an automatic feature, but you also learn from it.”
“So I can do pretty much anything with the guitar?” I asked, slightly confused.
“Not pretty much anything, you can to any and all with it.” She assured me.
“So… I can make other guitars or instruments play by themselves?” I wandered (Think of the possibilities!).
“What ever it is that you will it to, it will do it.” She said slightly annoyed, but she continued, “But it can only be used by you or whom you alone allow. However, it is strong and magically protected while you use it, but, if someone was to try to use it without your permission or you had forbid them from using it and they still try, it will break as a safety feature, it is far too powerful to be used by someone who cannot control it.”
“Wow, that’s kind of, over-the-top don’t you think?” I asked.
“Not if the top has been raised to reach it, this is a very powerful instrument.” (Ha get it? Instrument!) She assured.
“What about the shades?” I inquired.
“Luna?” I heard a voice call, it wasn’t Celestia, it was a deeper, menacing voice. I moved my head to look at the speaker, my face brushed against something in the cold night air, sending a shiver down my spine. I shook harder. I quickly moved my arm under my body to get my coat from underneath me as I let out a grunt. I fell to my side onto the unforgiving tiles as my motor controls were dwindling. I felt the unforgiving cold of the night air. It felt like something was picking away at me, tearing something out of me, at the same time I felt like something was entering me. My necklace started to tighten. I coughed as my air supply was cut off.
I tasted blood.
“NO!” I heard Luna yell, “GO AWAY!”
I heard a low evil laugh as I blacked out.

I deliberately left out the shades for a side story I will make… Remember Magnet?
