Deadliest Pony
Chapter 4: Wildlife Brawl
Previous Chapter Next ChapterWho is Deadliest?
Basil, the Hydra, the Ursa Major, the Timberwolf, the Manticore, or the Cockatrice. To find out, we call upon Fluttershy to give us her input on Basil. As usual, are judges are Darkheart, Trueheart, Nobleheart, Noheart, the Spirit, and the Star, all the way from the Care Bears universe. Fluttershy now takes the stage to tell us about Basil
Basil
Type: Mountain Dragon
Special Talent: N/A but is very strong like all dragons
Height: 50'
Weight: 30 tons
Very protective of his loot
Much nicer than other dragons
Sensitive to verbal lashing
"Like all dragons, Basil has a powerful tail, claws, and jaws" Fluttershy murmurs, showing off a Dragon claw. "His hide is nearly impregnable to most forms of attack and he can blast scalding steam from his mouth" Fluttershy continued, only heard because of the amplification spell at the podium. "While he can fly, he's not a very agile flyer. He's also very sensitive" Fluttershy managed to finish before stage fright took its toll and she fainted.
"Ugh, the kindess from that made sick" Noheart groaned before pulling out a paper. "Next up is....Twilight Sparkle giving us information on the Hydra" he stated, creating a portal to suck Twilight onto the stage.
the Hydra
Type: Hydra
Special Talent: N/A but is as strong as it's size indicates
Height: 40'
Weight: 40 tons
His heads don't agree with each other
Rather stupid
Only has front legs
"Well, going from personal experience, the Hydra is nearly as strong as a dragon and much faster on the ground" Twilight stated, shuffling through a pile of notes at least 2 feet tall. "While it is rather stupid, it's many heads do give it plenty of plans for attack" Twilight said before the notes fell into a disorganized pile on the floor. "Excuse me, I have to go organize my notes" Twilight mumbled, blushing as she left. The Spirit rolled her eyes and teleported in their next expert, Trixie.
Ursa Major
Type: Ursa Major
Special Talent: N/A but very large
Height: 286' ft
Weight: 300 tons
Largest creature in Equestria
Not aggressive
Caring mother to Ursa Minor
"Why can't I say my name?" Trixie sputtered as soon as she found that her trademark tic was't working.
"I took it away. Your arrogance would've annoyed me" the Spirit replied bluntly before flipping her pages in an attempt to get the unicorn talking.
"Well, an Ursa Major is basically a bear the size of a small castle" Trixie said, quite miffed at her lack of flair. "Ummmm, that's about it" Trixie mumbled, realizing how little ponies knew of Ursa Majors. Darkheart facepalmed before turning Trixie into a frog and calling up their next expert.
"Scootaloo, you'll talk about your cousin, the chicken-python err, Cockatrice" Darkheart said, barely interested.
Cockatrice
Type: Cockatrice
Special Talent: N/A but very clever
Height: 16' 6" (the one seen by Fluttershy was a juvenile)
Weight: 200 lbs.
Smallest contender today
Known to respect authority
Enjoys scaring its victims
"Haha" Scootaloo grumbles as she realizes why she was picked to represent the chicken like monster. "The Cockatrice can turn ponies to stone by staring at them, though the effect can be reversed if the target is prepared and has enough will" Scootaloo said, shaking a little as she remembered how close she had been to that fate. "The Cockatrice can also do a sort of "hover jump" like me and strangle with its tail" Scootaloo said, blushing as she demonstrated the hover jump. "The Cockatrice has a sense of honor that makes it seem somewhat cowardly in some situations." Scootaloo finished before hover jumping off the stage.
"Poor foal" Trueheart murmured before using her Stare to conjure up Gilda.
"Its my turn already? Well, I'll tell you about Manticores" Gilda grunted, fairly angry over being told that she had lost to Garble.
Manticore
Type: Manticore
Special Talent: N/A but very fast
Height: 6'
Weight: 700 lbs.
Rather nice when not wounded
Easily angered
The first monster ever encountered by the Mane 6
"Manticores are about as strong as a bear but are much more agile due to their wings, though they can't do true flight" Gilda said, sniffing arrogantly at the flight comment. "Manticores have very powerful tails that can strike with incredible speed before injecting their prey with a dissolving hemotoxin" Gilda stated, showing gruesome images of stung ponies with gangrene and amputated limbs. "Manticores don't fight often though, so they don't have much experience" Gilda finished before flipping the judge's off for her loss and flying off.
"Charming" Nobleheart muttered before calling up their last expert, Applejack.
Timberwolf
Type: Timberwolf
Special Talent: N/A but basically a wood wolf
Height: 6' to 30' depending on fusion or not.
Weight: 30 lbs to 120 lbs depending on fusion or not
Hunt in packs
Can fuse into "King" form
Rather cowardly
"Dem Timberwolves are pretty hard to kill 'cause they can reform from wood. They can also fuse into a giant "King" timberwolf." Applejack drawled while pointing out videos of Timberwolves in captivity. "Timberwolves hunt in packs so for this battle, there'll be a pack of 4" Applejack continued. "Now, they get scared from loud noises and can be broken apart pretty easily. They also can't reform if killed as in King form" Applejack continued before finally sticking out her hoof expectantly. The Star sighed and tossed the cow-pony some bits for her time. Now that we have our info, we'll hear the judges' opinion.
The Star: I believe the Ursa Major's care for its offspring will let it win
Trueheart: I think the Timberwolves' teamwork will give it the edge
Noheart: The Cockatrice's "stoning" ability ensures a victory
Nobleheart: Basil's sensitivity will be rewarded
The Spirit: The Hydra looks the coolest
Darkheart: I want to go home so I abstain
Let the fight begin!
A pack of Timberwolves marauds the Everfree Forest, looking for a meal. One of them yips in pain as a Cockatrice leaps onto it and begins coiling around its neck. The other wolves are shocked for long enough that the coiled wolf has its neck snapped before they can act. Snarling, the lead Timberwolf slaps the Cockatrice away, making it hit a tree with a sickening thud. The Cockatrice lies still, blood dribbling from the back of its head. The dead sticks that made up the dead Timberwolf collected back into one being with a few sharp pops. His renewed lease on life was brutally ended as he was incinerated by a steam blast from Basil. The remaining Timberwolves bark angrily before attempting to harass the huge dragon with nips on the dragon's heels.
"Leave my territory!" Basil boomed before flicking away the Timberwolves. The Timberwolves squeaked in fear and began to run, fear gripping their hearts. Before Basil could incinerate them, he was tackled from behind by a huge beast. Basil screeched in shock as the Hydra began taking bites out of his back. One of the Hydra heads noticed the fleshy and unarmored wings on Basil's back and lunged for them. Unfortunately, another head had the same idea and they smacked into each other, staggering the Hydra and allowing Basil to buck it off. As the Hydra struggles to get up, Basil blasts his boiling vapor right onto the Hydra's spine, burning the creature and causing it to spasm in pain. The Hydra eventually got back up only to fall over seconds later.
"What?" Basil questioned before seeing the angry Manticore standing behind the Hydra. Its powerful poison had killed the multi-headed creature and it was now looking straight at Basil. Basil swiped his tail, expecting the creature to fall easily. The Manticore instead leaped over the tail and slashed through the scales on Basil's belly, drawing blood. Basil attempted a headbutt but the Manticore stabbed him in the wing with its tail. Basil roared in fury before disemboweling the troublesome creature and checking his wing. Already the venom had made it useless which made the next part of Basil's job much easier. He blasted it with boiling smoke, stopping the venom from spreading but taking his own wing off in the process. Basil fell to the ground, sobbing in pain as he waited for the wound to become numb. He wouldn't get that luxury though. A king Tinmberwolf walked through the trees, snarling savagely at the wounded dragon.
"Please leave" Basil grunted, attempting to intimidate the wooden creature. The king responded with a savage lunge to to the dragon's neck, ripping out his jugular and spraying the dragon's life-blood everywhere. As the king Timberwolf dug into the dying dragon's neck with gusto, there was a stir from a nearby cave. The king heard a noise and looked around for the source of it. He finally looked up just in time to see a huge paw crash down on him. The Ursa Major roared in defiance, satisfied that its territory had been cleared out. It then felt a small itch on its nose. It moved its eyes one last time before turning to stone. The Cockatrice now stood on a huge stone bear and squawked in delight at its new meal.
Cockatrice wins!
The Timberwolves' reforming ability cam in handy for getting the Cockatrice off of them when it foolishly attempted to frighten them. Unfortunately, the Timberwolves could not deal with a dragon's roar or steams and so fled. The Hydra's greater weight allowed it to pin Basil but its lack of coordination meant it was able to be bucked off. The lack of front legs on the Hydra made it hard for it to get up and easy for the Manticore to stab it in the neck with its stinger. The Manticore's lack of experience led it to charge Basil head on and while its agility helped it for awhile, eventually it was simply overpowered. However, it was a Pyrrhic Victory as the Manticore's venom was already flowing through Basil's veins. While many other animals would have simply taken the pain, Basil's greater intelligence meant that cauterizing the wound effectively paralyzed him for a while. In that while, the opportunistic Timberwolves fused into their king form and killed the wounded dragon. The Timberwolf king, while powerful, was no match for the foot of the an irritated Ursa Major. Unfortunately for the Ursa, the Cockatrice caught it by surprise and so turned it to stone.
"Yes! Chickens rule" Scootaloo squeals happily as she sees the test results
The winner is the Cockatrice
