Chapter 1: A Little Bit of Good.

A Little Bit of Good.

A Little Bit of Good.

---------------------

Recess at Ponyville Elementary was always greeted with abandon, no matter how commonly it came. Fillies played on the grounds, colts chased each other and caught bugs, and here and there, friends gathered together to share what they'd learned, or just to relax until the bell rang once more.

Today however, though still like most other recesses, saw a most peculiar event trespass to those who watched.

Peppermint Twist had been jumping rope in a corner by herself, when an errant ball had come from behind and collided with her up-side the head. Her glasses flew off her face from the impact, landing quite a fair few feet away. The filly instantly fell on to her knees, and began groping around for her glasses, as she was as nearly blind as a bat without them.

A look to the side revealed that the ball hadn't been so errant after all, as Diamond Tiara rested a hoof on another one, pointing and laughing at Twist's predicament. At this distance, one couldn't hear what she was saying.

But one could see the look of shock on Silver Spoon's face, as she stared over at Twist and her frantic search. The grey filly then turned to her companion and shoved her disapprovingly, which got a look of startled surprise. The two seemed to argue for a bit, at one point Silver pointing to her own glasses, her face twisted into a heated expression. One almost expected for the pink pony to begin shoving and yelling in kind, but whatever she had said, had a disarming effect of Tiara, who leaned back, ears folded.

Silver Spoon then proceeded to dash over to Twist, and retrieved her glasses. She held the filly by the shoulders, and then gently placed them on her face again. Needless to say, Twist was shocked and surprised as she got a good look at her came to her rescue, but didn't waste time wondering as she leapt forward and hugged the grey pony tightly. Said pony stood still for a few seconds, before awkwardly patting her on the back.

Diamond Tiara joined them presently, looking oddly contrite. Twist looked at her, and words were said, again muted by the distance. Eventually, the tan pony nodded to her, before breaking off from them to continue her recess, apparently none the worse for wear, while Silver Spoon rejoined her friend's side. They traded more words, comforting ones it seemed, before the two proceed to perform their sugar-lump-rump routine. The fillies then proceeded to wander off together in a completely different direction, away from the playground.

Applebloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo all stared from their seat at the picnic table, even after the bullies departed the schoolyard. "Did that just... happen?" Scootaloo asked.

"It did." Bloom confirmed, looking over at Twist, who was now playing in the sandbox. "That was Silver Spoon, bein'... nice."

"You know, I'd always thought that there was good in every pony." Sweetie spoke up, looking at her friends. "Not everypony shows it, but it's there. And I think we just saw it right now, too."

The pegasus made a face, while Bloom tapped her chin. "Come to think of it, ah think Silver Spoon was th' first one to start clapping after Granny Smith came in to school an' told her story to everypony."

"So maybe she's not as bad a pony as we think she is, okay." Scootaloo huffed. "But why does she hang around with Diamond Tiara then? More to the point, why's she keep picking on us with her? I wish they'd show us a little of that 'goodness'."

The unicorn shrugged, before turning back to her sandwich. "Maybe she just usually saves it for her. Plus, you saw how she talked to Diamond Tiara... and don't tell me that what she said to Twist wasn't an apology. Who knows?"

"Maybe she sees a little good in her too."
