When the Unified Earth Government made contact with Equis at the dawn of the twenty-sixth century, a course of events was set in motion that would turn Equestria from a quiet and fledgling interstellar kingdom, into an empire at the heart of one of the largest alliances in the galaxy.
Now, in the midst of the darkest days of the Great War with the Covenant, alliances and age old beliefs are being tested throughout the galaxy. An Alicorn, a Spartan, and a brilliant AI, aided by mysterious figures from the distant past, as well as friends both old and new, may hold the key to victory against the might of the Covenant that threatens civilization itself. The Great War is not the only event of galactic magnitude, however. Malevolent forces from aeons past - some surpassing even the ancient Forerunners and their contemporaries in power - begin to stir in places long forgotten.
