Dream
It had been years since the fall of Lord Voldemort. Peace once again reined in the world of magic. Though at times, Harry could still hear his voice. The mocking tones of Voldemort as he faced him in the forbidden forest filled his mind as he slept on his rather uncomfortable hospital bed. He never liked hospitals, though it seemed he spent most of his life in them. Every year he had attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry he had visited the hospital wing due to some sort of injury from a battle or a Quidditch match.
As Harry slept, the memory of the day he defeated Voldemort replayed in his head over and over and over again. The stress of the situation still felt fresh to him. At last he awoke from his slumber to find his aged wife, Ginny Weasley, sitting on his bedside looking at him. The constant beeping of the monitors and life support played in the background.
“I didn’t want to wake you.” She said. “You looked like you were in the middle of a pretty vivid dream.”
Harry gently grasped her hand with his own. “It was just a memory. I’m actually glad you’re here.” He replied as he looked into her eyes. He rubbed his face with his other hand, trying to get rid of his sleepiness. He could still feel the lightning bolt shaped scar on his forehead.
“It’s not just me.” said Ginny. Just then, Ron walked into the room followed by Harry’s son Albus. It appeared that age had touched everyone. Ron’s hair, which used to be a blazing red hue, now held no color. His eyes, though wrinkled and worn, still shown with a quiet determination and loyalty that Harry had always admired. Albus was now in his mid forties. His face had just started to wrinkle, and his soot black hair was peppered with grey. They all watched Harry as they came into the room.
“Oy mate.” Said Ron. “How’ve ya been?”
“Great.” Replied Harry. “Never felt better. How are you and Hermione?”
“Oh, we’re fine. Hermione was feeling a bit under the weather today so she couldn’t come. She said for you to hurry up and get out of this hospital and come home.”
“I thought she’d say something like that. She hasn’t changed has she?”
“Nope. She still treats me like a child sometimes.” Ron chuckled as he spoke.
Harry chuckled along with his friend. His laugh quickly became a hoarse cough. It only lasted for a few seconds, but it was enough to cause concern for everyone in the room. Harry lifted his hand and said, “I’m fine.”
He turned to Albus. “How are things with you and you’re wife?” Harry asked.
“A little crazy. Things at Hogwarts have gotten a little hectic. My classes have seemed to have lost interest in the lessons.” Replied Albus.
“What do you teach again? My body isn’t the only thing that’s failing me.” Said Harry jokingly.
“Potions.” Albus responded.
“Ah, that’s right. Try blowing something up. I’m sure that will restore more than their interest.”
“I’ll try that.” Albus chortled. “How’s your heart?”
“I’m fine. Don’t worry about me.” Harry tried to dismiss the question but Albus started his father down until something came out. Just as Harry was about to speak, a nurse garbed in white entered the room. “Visiting hours are over.” As quickly as she came, she had left.
“Guess I’ll be headin’ home then.” Said Ron as he rubbed the back of his head.
“I need to be going too. I’ve a lesson I need to prepare for tomorrow.” Added Albus. They exchanged their good-byes with Harry and quietly stepped out of the room.
Ginny looked into Harry’s eyes for a moment before leaning over to kiss him on the forehead. Harry tightened his grip on her hand slightly. “Don’t leave yet.” He said.
“Alright.” Ginny replied as she pulled up a chair and sat down next to Harry’s bed.
Harry closed his eyes and drifted off again into a deep sleep. His grip on Ginny’s hand loosened. He took one long, deep breath and slowly released it. Ginny felt his hand slowly go limp and cold. She smiled and stroked Harry’s white, messy hair.
“See you in a while.” She choked. Tears began to blur her vision as she looked at her lover as he peacefully in his hospital bed.

Questions That Need Answers
A wet trickle fell down Twilight Sparkle’s face as she slowly awoke from her rather unusual dream. She wiped her face dry with her right-front foreleg and then proceeded to rub the sleep from her eyes. She had been crying in her sleep. She put a hoof down on her pillow as she sat up in bed. It felt wet. She must have been drying for a while. This is silly. What am I crying for? She thought.
She looked around her bedroom which was still dark. Spike was sound asleep in his basket at the foot of her bed. He had pulled his blanket up over his face except for his mouth which was poking out. Still sitting up in bed, Twilight looked out the window and then at her clock. It was only 3 am. She didn’t feel like sleeping, however. The dream was still fresh in her mind and she was confused as to why it had affected her in such a way.
She pushed the blankets off of her and snuck downstairs into the library. She silently closed the door behind her and lit a candle with her magic. She began to brows her vast collection of books, carefully looking over each one. She slowly became frustrated as the tome she was searching for continued to eluder her. For once in her life she regretted having so many books.
After what seemed like hours she found it on the tallest shelf on the far end of the library. With her magic she pulled it out of its place and down to her level. The tome was terribly dusty. With a puff of breath Twilight cleared the dust off which produced a thick cloud. She coughed a little and tried to wave the dust away. The tome she held was rather large with deep blue leather covers. In shining, gold letters the title read Visions and Dreams. She opened the book which produced a slight cracking noise. She skimmed through a few pages before flipping them over. After flipping a few more pages she stopped and began to read more thoroughly.
Dreams are a state of mind that allows one’s imagination to flow freely. No one knows for sure what these magical things are or how they work; but while dreaming one can have and do anything or simply visit old memories. Some say that dreams can reveal the past or even predict the future. Others say that they are like portals to worlds far beyond our own.
Twilight cringed as sunlight fell upon her face. She hadn’t noticed the time as she was enveloped in her reading. She rubbed her eyes as they tried to adjust to the light. She placed the book back on the top shelf where she found it. What she had hoped would help her figure out what her dream meant, but it proved to make the matter even more confusing. She sat on her haunches and rubbed her temples. Her head ached as she tried to figure out what was going on. He ear sprang up as she heard a sound coming from upstairs. A few moments later Spike opened the door to her bedroom and yawned. His blanket dragged behind him as he descended the stairs and walked over to Twilight.
“Good morning sleepyhead. What are you doing up so early?” Twilight asked trying to hide her own fatigue.
“Mornin’.” Yawned Spike. “You’re up pretty early too. Were you up all night studying again?”
“Oh no. I just got up early because of a dream I had last night.” Replied Twilight as she got up.
“Nightmare?” Asked Spike.
“No, not really; it did leave me a little confused though.”
“What was it about?”
“I don’t know. I dreamt I was in a strange room surrounded by these money-like creatures. I was lying in this bed with some sort of machine hooked up to me. I think I was also one of those weird monkeys, now that I think of it. Anyway, I remember they were saying something about a hospital, a school, and something else. I can’t remember what. After a while most of the creatures left except for one. She was holding my hoof, but it wasn’t a hoof. It was some sort of strange fleshy thing with little appendages sticking out of it. She said something and the room went dark. Then, the next thing I know I’m awake.”
“Wow, that is one weird dream.” Spike exclaimed.
“I know. I can’t figure out what it means. I tried researching dreams but that only left me with more questions.”
“Meh, I wouldn’t worry too much about it. You probably ate something weird. Happens to me all the time.”
“Why doesn’t that surprise me?” Giggled Twilight.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Spike wasn’t sure if he should be offended or not.
“Oh nothing.” Replied Twilight. She walked over to her desk and picked up a paper, quill, and some ink and began to write. She hoped that maybe writing down what she remembered of the dream would help something click. A few moments later Twilight put down the quill and turned back to Spike who had already begun his chores.
“Hey Spike. Why don’t we go get some breakfast before we start.” Twilight beckoned Spike to follow after her as she walked toward the front door.
“YES! I heard that Sugar Cube Corner is serving breakfast now. Let’s go check it out!” Spike said excitedly. He ran up to Twilight and jumped onto her back.
“Where did you hear that?” Inquired Twilight.
“I heard Pinkie Pie talking about it a few days ago. I wanted to go see for myself, but I never got around to it.” Spike explained.
“Well, I could go for some pancakes right now. Let’s go see if you’re right.” Twilight said as she opened the door and stepped outside.
“Awe yeah! PANCAKES!” Cheered Spike.

Breakfast With Friends
Sugar Cube Corner. The best bakery in town is now serving breakfast (limited time only).
“Awe, you mean they’re only doing this for a little while?” Whined Spike.
“That’s what the sign says.” Twilight confirmed.
“Good thing we’re doing this now. If we had waited any longer then we might’ve missed this glorious opportunity. I can’t wait to sink my teeth into those sweet, moist, buttermilk pancakes.” Spike’s eyes lit up and he began to drool.
“Spike, stop that! You’re getting drool on me, and it’s gross.” Scolded Twilight.
“Sorry Twilight. I can’t help it. It’s just that they’re so good!”
“Well, try to control yourself. We don’t even know what they’re serving.”
“Only one way to find out. CHARGE!” Spike jumped off of Twilights back and ran through the open door. Twilight giggled and walked in after him. A wall of delicious smells struck Twilight’s nose as she walked into the room. Ponies from all over Ponyville were seated at tables and booths eating various breakfast foods. Twilight caught up with Spike who was standing by the counter. Mrs. Cake trotted up to them. Her apron was smudged with flower, eggs, and a plethora of other things.
“Oh, hello Twilight! Hello Spike! You two here for breakfast?”
“Why yes we are. How long have you and Mr. Cake been serving breakfast?” Twilight asked.
“Oh, not for very long. This is just a trial. We wanted to see if adding a breakfast buffet would be good for business, and if things keep going like today then we just might make it permanent.” Exclaimed Mrs. Cake.
“That would be awesome!” Spike was getting a little excited. He was looking around at all the ponies eating and began to drool again.
“What can I get for you two today?” Asked Mrs. Cake.
“I’d like some buttermilk pancakes, please.” Replied Twilight.
“Make that two.” Spike added.
“All righty then. You can take a seat anywhere. You’re pancakes will be out shortly.” Said Mrs. Cake as she walked into the kitchen.
As Mrs. Cake left, Twilight and Spike heard somepony calling out to them. They looked around the room, trying to find the source of the voice. Finally they noticed Applejack, Rarity, and Rainbow Dash sitting in a booth in the far corner of the room. Twilight and Spike sat down with them.
“Hey guys, have you eaten yet?” Asked Twilight as she sat down next to Rarity.
“Not yet. We all just got here. What’r y’all doin’ round here?” Replied Applejack.
“We’re here for the pancakes.” Said Spike.
“I hear these pancakes are to die for. I gonna get a huge stack of em’.” Proclaimed Rainbow Dash.
“Wanna see who can eat ‘em the fastest” Spike asked her.
“Challenge accepted.” Said Rainbow Dash.
“Come now, you two. Show some manners. Not only will you make yourselves sick, you’ll also make complete fools of yourselves.” Rarity Stated. She glanced at Twilight who nodded in agreement. “Twilight, you look positively exhausted.” She exclaimed.
“Who me?” Twilight responded.
“Of course. Did you get enough sleep last night?”
“I’m fine. I just had a strange dream, that’s all.”
“What was yer dream about?” Asked Applejack.
Twilight told her friends of her strange dream and how it left her totally confused. Her friends looked a little confused themselves.
“That is one strange dream.” Said Applejack. “Ah don’t think Ah’ve ever heard of the weird monkey thingies. What do you think RD?”
“I don’t know. It might just be something you ate.” Replied Rainbow Dash.
“That’s what I said.” Announced Spike.
“Well, anyway. It’s alright now. I’m going to ask the princess about it later. What are your plans for today?” Inquired Twilight.
“Well, I have an order to fill with a client out in Canterlot. She has ordered six dresses for her six daughters for a party of some sort, and she needs them by the end of the week.” Rarity responded.
“Sounds like a big order. Think you can manage?” Asked Twilight.
“I’ve had bigger orders. I can usually make two dresses in a day so this shouldn’t be too much of a challenge.” Replied Rarity.
“Ah’ve got ta go fertilize the west and south fields today.” Added Applejack.
“And I’m gonna be napping.” Rainbow Dash boasted.
“Sounds like everypony’s got their hooves full today.” Said Twilight.
A few minutes later, breakfast was served. Applejack, Rarity, and Twilight engaged in idle conversation while Spike and Rainbow Dash commenced their contest only to have Spike almost choke on a piece of pancake.
