I had forgotten how enjoyable a flight can be. Without the chariot escort and unencumbered by the trappings of royalty I feel free in a way I have not been for a very long time. The untended air of the Everfree offers challenge and excitement with every gust.

Despite the dangers of flying in wild airspace there is a soft stillness to my flight. The soft roar of thousands of trees swaying in the wind, the rosy glow of the sun in the east.

How long will it be before I may experience this moment’s peace again?
