The Fading Rainbow

The clouds over Ponyville was nice and clear, all thanks to the pegasus who worked hard every day to do a good job. There was one pony who would brag about how she did the best work and how fast she could do it. That would be the pony with the rainbow color mane, Rainbow Dash. After she was done with the day’s job, she would speed by Carousel Boutique. Rainbow wanted to see the one pony that would for some reason make her heart flutter just by the way the wind would blow through her mane. Rarity keep it so clean and styled, Rainbow could never keep her mane that good looking. The way Rarity held herself also made her week in the knees. But there was no way she would let anypony know this. She was too cool to have these feelings or even have feelings for another mare.

Rarity walked out to head to the shops to get some new material for a dress that needed to be done by tomorrow night. Before she could move out of the way, Rainbow Dash came crashing into her. The two ponies went tumbling down the road. There was a cloud of dust trailed behind them as the rolled. A few ponies stopped and watched the two mares slide to a few feet away from where Rarity was once standing.

“What is the meaning of this Rainbow Dash?!” Rarity glared at Rainbow for causing her to roll around in the dirt. She was about to give Rainbow whining that would make the ones that she give the Diamond Dogs look like a whimper. But before she could get it out, Rainbow being to say something.

“I’m sorry… I kind of wasn’t um… seeing where I was going. I” Rainbows Dash looked around as she could feel the blood rush to her ears. – “I should be going now anyway. Later Rarity.” And there went Rainbow shooting away from the lost Rarity, sitting on her haunches blinking in the dust.

Rainbow used one of her front hooves to wipe the sweat running down her face. That was a close one. I can’t let her see me blushing. I just can’t let anyone know that I like another mare. Rainbow Dash hid on the one of the clouds in the sky above. She looked up to the blue sky as she tried to get her heart rate down. It was beating through her chest. She closed her eyes so that for any pegasus who flew by would think that she was just taking one of her naps again.

There was no way she was going to let anypony think that she was not cool. For having these kind of feelings for another mare. It would kill her to hear what other ponies thought of her and of Rarity. She couldn’t do it to the pony that made her heart skip a beat every time she saw her. This was the first time she had ever made such a mistake. Was she losing her cool? Was she fading like an old rainbow? Oh Celestia, what am I going with my feelings for her?

A Diamond Shining Bright

Rarity got back up after having Rainbow Dash knocking her to the ground. She looked down at one of her lovely white hooves. Rarity was about to faint before she remembered who caused her to get a little dirty. A quiet giggle escaped her lips.

“Thanks a lot, Rainbow Dash.” Rarity sighed and walked back into Carousel Boutique. “You caused me to need to shower before going shopping.” She was the kind of pony who wouldn’t want to be seen in any place where other ponies could see her with some dirt on her hooves. Rarity didn’t waste any time getting back inside.

Before Rarity got on her way to the shower, she had to stop by her bed to look for something. Covers and pillows went flying in the air as she tried to find something that meant the world to her. A squeal that nopony would think would come from Rarity, the queen of fashion in Ponyville, shot through the room. What she pulled close to her chest was a plushie doll of a rainbow maned pegasus. It was a Rainbow Dash plushie that she made out of the highest quality materials in all of Equestria. Her face and ears under her pure white fur were turning red.

“Oh Rainbow, you don’t know how you make my heart flutter.” She fell back onto her bed. “I wish I could show you how I feel about you.” She felt tears roll down her cheek. All that Rarity wanted to do was lay there and cuddle her Rainbow Dash plushie, but sadly she had to go to the market and get materials for the dress she was commissioned to do. So she did the only thing she could do, take a shower and make the run through the market as fast as she could.

The sun was shining brightly thanks to Princess Celestia. The warm rays felt really great on Rarity’s back as she moved down the road. Rainbow Dash and the other pegasus did a really good job today. She loved the market on those days. She could see how the materials glowed in the light of a great day like this.

In the skies above here, there was a rainbow streak shooting across it. Rarity just looked up and had a dreamy expression on her face. She snapped back to what was going on when the pony at one of the shops, she was going to, called out to her. Rarity smiled as she moved to talk to the sales pony.

“Hello there, any new materials come in for me to use?” She looked at what he had laying out for display.

“We did. It’s the best I have ever seen in all my days selling.” He pulled out the brightest rainbow material that Rarity had ever seen in her whole life, well not including Rainbow’s mane.

“How many bits do you want for it?”

“For you Miss Rarity… 150 bits.”

“I will take it.” The magic around her horn moved the bits out of her bag she was taking with her to the market and dropped it down in front of him.

“Ah thank you, Miss Rarity. Is there anything else I can do for you on this nice day?”

“If you would be so kind my good friend, I have a list of things I need for a few of my dress.” A list unfolded itself, enveloped in blue magic, in front of the sales pony. He just smiled and nodded in understanding.

“I don’t think this should be a problem. Just give me a few to get it all together,” said the sales pony.

“Thank you so very much.” Rarity smiled, because on that list of materials were some of the things she needed to make another plushie of herself. It would look so lovely next to her Rainbow Dash. Oh thank you, Celestia for this lucky day… now if I could only tell Rainbow Dash my feelings for her. Maybe one day I will be able to be as bold as she is. That would be very lovely indeed.

The Rainbow and the Diamond

Rainbow dash was zipping across the skies doing the job she was tasked with for the day. Her wins pushing faster and faster. She want to get done soon so she could do her flyby of the Carousel Boutique. This time she made sure that Rarity wasn’t going to be in the way. Rainbow Dash couldn’t handle another run in like that. She may be the cools pony in all of Ponyville, but her feelings for Rarity would not be good either of them.

“Today must be my luc…” Rainbow was cut off as Rarity come running out to flag Rainbow down.

“Rainbow Dash darling, could you come here and help me with a dress I’m working on. I need somepony who can pose in it for me,” Rarity smiled sweetly at Rainbow, trying to get her to do this for her.

“I don’t know R” – The look that Rarity was giving her was just too much for her to say no to. She would have said yes in hoofbeat if it meant that she would be spending time with her. – “Fine Rarity, I will help you model your dress.”  Before she could even begin moving to the door. She could feel the magic pulling her pass the doors.

Rainbow Dash lets out a long sigh as Rarity was dressing her up and putting makeup on as well. Her ears where turning red under her sky blue fur. She kind of like being dressed up by Rarity. Rainbow smiles with her eyes close as Rarity sings a little song.

“You have a very lovely sing voice Rarity,” Rainbow mutter without really thing.

“Why thank you sweetie. That is so kind of you to say," Rarity smiles as she keeps getting the dress on Rainbow Dash. The dress was looking smashing on Rainbow. Rarity steps back and smile at her work.

Rainbow walked over to the mirror and blushing as she looks at herself in the dress, "Wow, Rarity. This dress looks amazing. It looks like it was made for me."

"Oh... well I just seen the materials and well... you know me. I just love making dresses and made one for you for the next Grand Galloping Gala," Rarity moves around Rainbow so that she could hide her face.

Rainbow felt herself being to floating in the air as the dress being to come off her in a very hurry. Rarity’s horn was glowing with magic. Before Rainbow could say a word about what was going on. She found herself sitting outside the door with the makeup still on her face.

Rarity had her back to the door to keep Rainbow just in case she try to get back in. She pulled out her plushy of Rainbow Dash with her magic and held it close to her chest. She hope that Rainbow would think that she just had more work to do and need the room cleared to work.

Rainbow got off her rump and looked at the door and was kind of worried why she was rushed out. She didn’t want to push the issues with Rarity. She couldn’t afford do anything dumb like rushing back in there. So with a heavy sigh she flies home and hope Rarity is okay.

For the next few days Rainbow chose not to fly by the Carousel Boutique for she didn’t want Rarity to get upset with her. She did get kind of lucky, in that she got few more jobs that would let her spend more time working. Which she used to practice some of her tricks that she would one day use to get into the Wonder Bolts.

While Rainbow was working hard. Rarity was trying to do the same, but as she would work on a new dress that she was commission to do. She found herself looking out the window and watching Rainbow flying. She found herself stopping her work while watching. This was getting harder and harder for her to deal with. So to keep her eyes in the room, she pulled out the Rainbow Dash plushy doll. She knew that this was not a fix that would last long.

Rarity was not the only one who had their minds on other things while they work.  As Rainbow racing around trying to keep the sky clear. The thoughts of Rarity would drift through her hear. For a moment she thought that she seen a group clouds that look like Rarity. She thought she was going crazy.  It only had been a few days since she had last seen Rarity.

Rarity finished up the few dresses she had to work on. So with nothing really to do for the rest of the evening. She took her Rainbow Dash plushy to her bed so she could snuggle it before she had to cook dinner. She let out a sigh as she realized that she was going to be alone tonight. Sweetie Bell was out for the night with her friends.

As she was eating a simple meal of nicely cooked dandelions. She looks over to where she had left the Rainbow Dash plushy and sighs. What is up with you Rainbow Dash dear? You made my day to see you fly by here, but you stopped. Oh, I wish I had someone to talk to about this. She really like seeing Rainbow Dash fly by? Oh how she could see Rainbow’s mane flowing like silk

She stump her hoof on the table and looks toward the sky. “Rainbow Dash I will be bold like you. I will show you my true feelings. Maybe if I’m bold like you, you may like me the same back?” She looks down and feels a feeling of fear. She rather deal with Discord again then try to tell Rainbow Dash her feelings.

Rainbow felt safe to fly by Carousel Boutique again. So when she was done with her work of the day, she took a nice speed past there. Unknown to her, Rarity was waiting for her to fly by.

“Rainbow Dash,” Rarity called out, which caused Rainbow to stop.

“Y…yeah Rarity? What do you need?” Rainbow’s heart was being to race.

“I need some help with something important,” Rarity smiled as Rainbow lands in front of her.

“I… I guess I could help,” Rainbow’s heart was now beating faster and faster as Rarity walked her into Carousel Boutique. As they both enter the room, the door lock and Rarity was now looking at Rainbow.

“I have a few questions that maybe you can answer for me,” Rarity moved closer and closer to Rainbow. Rarity’s heart was now racing as she got closer. She had never been so bold before.

“Oh… ha ha, what could I be able to answer for you Rarity? I don’t know fashion,” She was backing away.

“Why did you stop flying by here for a while?” Rarity’s voice was getting shaky. Rainbow looks around the room and she didn’t know what to say. She need to be as bold as she was when she was flying and doing all the ticks.

She took a deep breath and look Rarity in the eyes, “I thought you might have been mad at me when you kind of kicked me out the last time. I didn’t want to make any madder at me. Rarity, I couldn’t handle you being made me… I love you, Rarity.”

Rarity drops back on her hunches and blinks, “You… you love me. I... I didn’t think that you would feel that way about me.” Her breathing being to pick up.

Rainbow Dash walks toward her. Her eyes told Rarity that her feelings were true, “Yes Rarity. I do, I have for a long time now. So I must ask you one question now. Will you be my special somepony?”

Rarity looks up at her and slowly nods, “Yes, oh yes Rainbow.” Rarity being to cry for joy. A dream they both had been wishing for came true. Rainbow smile and kisses Rarity deeply. The kiss last for a long time for them. Oh thank you Celestia for this day. Was the thought that want through their heads.

Clouds Hide the Rainbow

A few days pass from the day they first share their first kiss. Rainbow dash would stop by Carousel Boutique for a meeting with Rarity. There was a knock at the door and Rarity let out a giggle of glee as she rushes over to the door to open it. Rainbow looks around and then rushes into the room.

“I don’t think anyone seen me come,” Rainbow moved close to Rarity and give her a sweet kiss. Rarity blushes as she kisses back. It was a dream come true for them, but they couldn’t even go out into Ponyville as a couple. So they made each meetings special.

“Oh Rainbow darling. You just know how to make a pony feel so special.” Rarity nuzzles up on Rainbows neck. Rainbow guided Rarity to a bunch of pillows they had laying for them to cuddle for a few hours before Rarity had to get back to work. Rainbow lays down and motions for Rarity to come to lay down with her. How could Rarity say no to her Rainbow Dash?

“I have nothing to do with you being like this. You are so lovely and you make the best dress,” Rainbow’s face turns red as she thought about trying on a few dress that she wouldn’t wear before in public. “Maybe you could dress me up and make me just as lovely as you are?”

Rarity let out a little gasp and gives Rainbow a kiss. “Now you shush my Rainbow. You are a natural beauty. I couldn’t improve on you my love,” Rarity smiles and kisses up Rainbows neck. That sent shivers down Rainbows back.

Rainbow Dash pokes her head out the door to see if she could make a clean get away. Things look clear and she shoot out of the door. She was about to the clouds before the one thing she didn’t want to happen, happen.

“RRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNBOW DASH,” Came the voice of the party pony, Pinkie Pie. This made the Rainbow Dash to freeze and fall back to the ground. As she slowly open her eyes to see Pinky standing above her.

“What are you thinking, Pinky Pie. You could have cause me to get really hurt,” Rainbow rubbed her head as she got up.

“Oh, I’m sorry. I just seen you coming and going from the Carousel Boutique a lot. And I just thought that I should say hey,” Pinkie smile want from ear to ear. This just cause Rainbow to break out in a cold sweat as she was scared that Pinkie would find out about her and Rarity. Pinkie had the biggest mouth in all of Ponyville.

“Oh, okay… hey, Pinky. I should be going now. I… I have things to do today.” Rainbow started to move away from Pinkie Pie.

“Okay, Rainbow Dash. I hope you and Rarity are having a good time,” Pinkie being to jump away.

Rainbow jump up and back to her cloud. “Oh Celestia Pinky found out. I don’t know what to do,” She paced around her cloud like a dog chasing their own tail. Rainbow Dash did the only thing that she could do to calm down. She jumps off the cloud and dive down the ground as fast as she could, to only pull at the last second. Rainbow pulled off ever tick she had to pass the time. The sun was setting as Princess Luna brings a lovely night.

Rainbow land on her cloud. Her mind was still racing with the events that, “I need to talk to Rarity about this.” She jumps off her cloud and flies down to the Carousel Boutique. She banged her hoof on the door. The door open and Rainbow pushes into the room and lands on top of Rarity.

“What is the meaning of this Rainbow?” Rarity blinks as she looks up at Rainbow Dash.

“PINKIE PIE KNOWS,” Rainbow was truly freaking out.

“Come down darling, it’s okay. Come here and we can cuddle till you feel better,” She walks Rainbow over to her bed and cuddles up with Rainbow and smiles. “I got you know dear.”

“Thank you, Rarity. I really need this. That thing with Pinkie Pie scared me to death,” Rainbow curls up into Rarity. She slowly fell sleep into in Rarity’s hoofs. Rarity smile as she joins Rainbow in a happy sleep. Her last thought before she want to bed was. I hope things work out. I don’t like seeing my sweet Rainbow Dash being this stressed out. Then she was out like a light.

The Diamond Holds the Rainbow

The rainbow mane Pegasus slowly wakes in a room she hadn’t seen before. As she became more aware of the world around her, she could feel the warm breath of somepony slowly breathing on her neck. Rainbow Dash sighs happily feeling the warmth of Rarity’s body against hers, wishing this moment could last forever, but she had a job to do.

Rainbow Dash moved slowly so as not to wake her sweet Rarity. Once she was free, and able to see Rarity curled up like she had once had somepony to hold.  The sight warmed her heart to see how lovely Rarity looked. Rainbow smiled and leans over, kissing her on the forehead.

With the worries that had caused her to seek the comfort of her marefriend gone from her mind, she set out to do her daily job, like she had done the day before. The work seemed like nothing to her now, she felt free to think about other things as the work passed by.

A little while had passed from when Rainbow Dash left the place, and Rarity slowly wakes up as the sunlight begins to shine into her room. She slowly moves her hoofs around feeling for the body that she held not long ago, letting out a grumble and sitting up, looking around the room with sleepy eyes.

“I guess…” Rarity lets out light yawn. “Rainbow dash went off to work. That is good to see. If she is feeling better, then I must have done something right.” The young mare slowly got out of bed and made her way to the mirror to do her usual morning check of her mane. There was one spot that was really frizzy from where Rainbow's head had been while they were sleeping. Rarity face got a little warm as she remembers cuddling the sleeping Pegasus before she herself fell sleep.

One of the best parts of owning your own business is that you get to pick your hours as long as you meet deadlines.  So with a good few days to finish three dresses, she head's for the shower to get her mane back to its perfect state. It was nothing for her to get her hair to this, she had been doing this for years.

Rarity goes back to her studio, where all her dress making happened. The room was a complete mess, but it was her mess and it was just how she liked it! She knew where everything was. She just had a few touch-ups on a few dresses that she was working on. Tomorrow the client would stop by to see how the dresses where coming along and to give feedback on what else Rarity should do for them.

She had only worked a few hours on the dresses when she hears the bell at the front door, letting her know that she had a guest. “I will be with you in a few, Darling,” She says, completing the last bit of the touch-up she had planned for the day. She walks down the stairs to see who had come to her shop, smiling as she sees who it was, moving closer. “Hello, Twilight. What can brings you by on such a lovely day?”

Twilight shifted from side to side with a look of worry, but, then again, when didn’t’ she have a look of worry when she came to see her friends? Looking back at all the things that had happened to them, that look was pretty normal. “Well, Rarity… there have been things said around town about you and Rainbow Dash,” Rarity looks closer at Twilight, seeing that she looked kind of scared on top of the usual look of worry.

Rarity moves closer to Twilight and puts a hoof on her shoulder. “What have they been saying dear?” Twilight looks up at her and lets out a sigh.

“They say that you and Rainbow Dash are a couple now, and that you two shouldn’t be together since you both are mares,” She says, looking down again.

“Twilight dear, you are my best friend, I can tell when you have more to say. Now tell me what is bothering you so much right now,” Rarity asks with a smile on her snout.

Twilight looks up, and now Rarity could see tears starting to roll down her cheeks. “I think they are wrong, saying such things about you two. And I feel broken…” She looks back down in what could be called shame. Rarity had never seen Twilight like this before. “Now, I feel like I can be truthful about my feelings for…” She stops before she could say the name of the pony she cares about.

“Who darling? It seems that you know who I have feelings for, so why don’t we both talk about these things together?”

“Applejack,” She said so soft and quiet, to the point where Rarity almost missed what she had said. Rarity pulls Twilight into a big hug that about knocked the air out of the poor little alicorn. “Rari… Rarity, please let go… I can’t breathe,” She stammers, gasping for air.

“Sorry dear, I-I kind of was overcome with joy that you have such a great special somepony,” Rarity moves back a bit, Twilight blushing deeply now as she looks down at the ground. Rarity places a hoof under Twilight's chin and raises it up so she could see her eyes. “Don’t be ashamed of your feelings for her. Just follow me to the dining room and we can talk about things while enjoying a nice cup of tea.” Rarity smiles, walking Twilight back. She knew how hard it had been for her to hide her own feelings for Rainbow Dash, but she now had an outlet to help her. Twilight just followed books, and Rarity didn’t know how many of those books had stuff that would actually help.

Rainbow Dash was just finishing her weather clearing job for today. She still had time before she would head out to see Rarity again, so she did the one thing that she did when she had nothing to do: She flew over to a good cloud and flopped her back down on it, letting out a yawn as she slowly drifts off to sleep for a quick nap.

She had only just fallen asleep for a few minutes before she could hear whispering around her. She just brushes it off as somepony flying by and not trying to wake her, but the whispering didn’t fade, instead, it grew like more and more ponies were joining together to whisper. That was it she thought, I can't take it anymore! She jumps up off the cloud, seeing a whole group of ponies staring at her.

“What the hay are you ponies whispering about, and why are you all looking at me?” She screams, sending most of the ponies flying away, but a few lingered, grinning at her. One of the bigger looking Pegasus move closer to her.

“We are talking about the mare loving mare sleeping on the cloud. And some of them are wondering why she even shows her face for all to see,” he said in a voice that would send most running for the hills, but that was not Rainbow Dash.

“I’m what and why wouldn’t I show my awesome face for all to see?” She exclaims, indignantly.

“You heard me little mare! You are a mare loving mare, and that is just wrong! It should be a mare and stallion, never two mares. You should just leave town or something,” He said in such a way that just made Rainbow Dash want to give him a quick buck in the side, but then something dawned on her. I can’t do this, what if I get hurt and then they choose to pick on Rarity? Best thing I can do, is do the one things I’m awesome at, flying fast.

As the group move closer to her. She grin and turn around and sped away. She looked back to see if they were still after her. And not a real big shock to Rainbow, they were trying their best to keep up with her. This went on for a while, but out of nowhere they just stopped. When she looked ahead of her, it was too late. Her body smacked the side of the mountain going about fast enough to cause a sonic rainboom.

Rarity was just on her way back to Carousel Boutique, but before she could even get her hoof to the door, Applejack came rushing to her with panic written all over her face. She came to a stop in a cloud of dust, breathing fast and trying to get her words out.

“Rainbow…. Hurt… You need to come….” She gasps out, hoping Rarity knew what she was trying to say. The look on Rarity’s face was nothing but a blank slate. She couldn’t believe what she was hearing, there was no way that Rainbow Dash could be hurt so bad that Applejack would rush here this fast or this late. When it got through to her what was happening, she nodded her head, telling Applejack to take her to Rainbow.

With a nod back from Applejack, they were off to the hospital. The race over to the hospital felt like it was taking forever for Rarity, the sun was just about gone by the time they got there. Rarity was not in any mood to be polite and ask for other ponies to move out of the way, she just pushed her way through and slammed both her front hoofs on the information counter. “Rainbow Dash’s room, now please!” She said trying to keep her voice from rising to a yell.

“What relations are you to Miss. Dash?” The nurse asked, not really caring how much of a rush Rarity was in at the moment. Rarity had to think a second and give up trying to sugar coat it.

“I’m her marefriend,”

“It shows that she has no next of kin or family in the area,” She said looking at the papers she had pulled out of her files.

“So what, just let me back in to her room now please!” Rarity said, raising her voice now.

“Fine, I don’t see what could hurt. I think that having some friends nearby might help her feel better.” The nurse sighed, she wasn’t getting paid enough to deal with this all the time. She points down the hall to Rainbow’s room, and Rarity didn’t waste any time rushing down the hall.

Rarity’s heart just shrank when she saw a bandage covered Rainbow. She rushes over to her side and rests her head onto one of Rainbow’s hoofs that wasn’t covered, seeming safe to touch. Rainbow was under enough medication that she was out like a rock though, more so then she normally would have been. Rarity told herself that she wouldn’t leave Rainbow’s side till she woke up. The sun set, with Rarity falling asleep in the chair next to Rainbow.

The Truth About The Diamond and The Rainbow

The sun was just rising over the horizon and Rainbow Dash had been awake long before that. She saw that Rarity had fallen asleep in the chair next to her bed and held one of her hooves as she slept. Rainbow could see the stains on her face where tears had flown down her muzzle. So she chose to let Rarity sleep and not let her worry any more than she had so far.

Even with all the pain meds they had her on, she could feel how much she hurt. No matter how much it hurt her to turn her head, she looked at Rarity sleeping in the chair next to her. Thoughts of when she began to develop feelings for her filled her mind. It was at the Best Young Flyer Competition, and Rarity flew near the sun and she just look so beautiful, the most beautiful thing she had seen in her whole life. Her thoughts continued to drift back to that day.

The light from the rising sun hit Rarity’s face, causing her to try rolling over and away from the offending light that wanted nothing more than wake her from the sleep was enjoying. After a few minutes, she just gave up and slowly opened her eyes to see that Rainbow Dash was looking at her with a dreamy look on her face.

“Well morning, you sleepy head. How did you sleep?” Rainbow smiled at her.

“I could ask you the same, dear…” Rarity let out a yawn. “But I can tell that the meds are making you happy.” She giggled as Rainbow blinked at her.

“What makes you say that for?”

“Oh just that dreamy look you have on your face.”

“Oh… I can tell you it’s not the meds giving me this look on my face,” Rainbow’s voice got really low when she said this. At the same time, there was a red tinge forming below her eyes. This caused Rarity to giggle, seeing Rainbow blushing like that, however, she was also doing the same thing.

Rarity got out of the chair and made her way to the door, but not before she walked up to Rainbow and gave her a light kiss on the cheek. She made sure that it wasn’t an area that would cause Rainbow any pain. Seeing Rainbow’s blush growing brighter only prompted her to giggle more while she went back to door.

“Where are you going; Rare?” Rainbow asked, still trying to recover from the kiss on her cheek.

“Just home so I can get cleaned up for you, dear. I want to look my best for you all the time,” Rarity answered in a matter fact tone.

“You don’t have to do that for me, Rarity. You look very beautiful right now,” the pegasus added in a low voice. Rarity had a bit of trouble hearing it, but upon realizing the words her face turned bright red under her white coat.

Rarity didn’t know what to say to Rainbow. She decided to turn around and head back into the room, next to her love. Dash looked up at her and before she could say a single word, Rarity kissed her deeply. The only thing Rainbow could do was kiss back, her eyes slowly closed as she could feel Rarity’s feelings for her.

After what felt like a lifetime for the two, they broke apart, panting for air, but both wore a wide smile. Rarity began making her way back to the door to leave as Dash’s voice stopped her in her tracks. “Why are you still leaving?”

“I have a few things to take care of. I promised Twilight we would have a cup of tea together. And I was thinking about seeing if she could borrow you another copy of those books you’ve been reading.”

“YOU MEAN YOU ARE GOING TO GET ME THE NEXT COPY OF ‘DARING DO’?” Rainbow squealed. Rarity just nodded and made her way out of the room, to leave an overjoyed Rainbow Dash lying in bed.

Rarity walked into the café where Twilight was sitting at a table, waiting. Already prepared on the table were two cups, Twilight knew what Rarity liked to drink. Why wouldn’t she, they had a tea date every Wednesday. But with things going the way they were, they moved it ahead a bit so they could talk some more.

“I’m sorry that I’m late, dear. I just got back from checking on Rainbow Dash. She hurt herself really badly and well… I was at her bedside all night,” Rarity said as she took her seat at the table.

“Oh my, I hope she is okay. Is there anything I can do to help?” The look of worry for her friend was very visible on her face.

“Yes, she seems okay, she was awake long before me. And I can only think of one thing you could do to help. Can she borrow the next issue of ‘Daring Do’?” Rarity smiled as Twilight was trying hard not to giggle.

“Of course she can borrow the next copy, I was already wondering when she would show up and ask me for it. We can pick it up after we had some tea.” She barely got the words out before she burst out laughing.

“Thank you so much, Twilight. Rainbow was about to burst out of her wrappings when I told her about asking to borrow it. But enough of that stuff, Rainbow is fine and will be out in no time, so tell me more about you and Applejack,” Rarity said with a smile trying not to seem to push the topic on to her, but Twilight’s face still turned red and her eyes went looking everywhere but at Rarity.

“I don’t really know where to start...” Twilight’s eyes finally locked back on Rarity.

“How about we start from beginning. Like when did you start to develop feelings for her?” The smile never left her face. She could tell that Twilight was still feeling shy talking about her feelings. But from the many things they learned over the time they knew each other. They learned that it was not good to keep so many things bottled up.

“Well, that would be the best way to start.” Twilight took a deep breath before she began. “It happened back when Nightmare Moon came back. You know, when I was holding onto the edge of a cliff for dear life. The look Applejack gave me when she told to let go, nopony had ever made me feel so trusting. And my feelings only have grown from that point on.” The last words end with a gasp as Twilight took in some well needed air.

Rarity was kind of dumbstruck at how much Twilight had said in one breath. But that passed as an excited grin slowly made its way on her face. She was about to respond something, but was cut off by a stallion dropping his hoof down on the table to draw Rarity’s focus on him. She looked up to see a stallion with a green coat and a blood red mane.

“How can I help you, sir?” Rarity asked, already annoyed at the stallion for barging in on her private talk with Twilight.

“Yeah, you can go with me to the movies tonight and forget about that fillyfooler everyone is saying you are with. And then show them that you’d rather be with a stallion like me.” His voice just accented his oversized ego. Rarity’s brow began to lower at hearing him use such language to talk about her special somepony. She rose out of her chair to look him straight in the eyes.

“I’ll  have you know, sir, that such language won’t win a mare over. And I won’t stand for such words being said at all about her. I can tell you that she has much more manners than you ever will have. She loves me for being me and not only for my looks. So I will tell you to take that movie and… and… stick it right where the sun doesn’t shine.” Her face took a red shade from how angry she was feeling, and also a little ashamed for using such a crude language like that in public.

The stallion just looked at her and grinned like a maniac before pushing her to the ground. He placed two of his hooves on her shoulders to keep her down. “Don’t you know that mares are to date stallions like me and not some good for nothing mares like Rainbow Da…” He was cut short as a hoof kicked him in his ‘happy area’. This caused him to roll to his side and replace his hooves to cover that spot from any more attacks. Rarity got up and walked over to a still shocked Twilight, motioning for her to leave with her. Before exiting the café, Rarity looked back at him, disdain clear in her eyes.

“I hope you have learned never to say such mean things about her again. If you clean up your act and treat others better, you might find someone someday.” That being said, Rarity left with Twilight to pick up a copy of ‘Daring Do’ for her beloved Rainbow Dash.

The Shattering Diamond

Rainbow Dash was lightly sleeping after Rarity left to have her tea with Twilight. She couldn’t wait for her to come back with the next copy of ‘Daring Do’, but the medicine she was given took a lot out of her and she thought that Rarity would be back before she would wake up.

Her sleep didn’t last as long as she had hoped for. Before she knew it there were voices in the hallway, but what caused her to not to brush it off was hearing Rarity’s name, mentioned by some stallion.

“This Rarity is so going to get it. That little fillyfooler will pay for kicking me ‘there’,” the high pitched voice called out in the hall. Rainbow had an idea where he was kicked. What really worried her, though, was that Rarity was the one who kicked him. She was also getting angry at hearing that guy use such a nasty term to call Rarity, her Rarity. If it wasn’t for her body being in pain at any fast movement, she would’ve been out there, slapping that stallion and telling him a thing or two about insulting Rarity.

Soon the sounds of the angry stallion faded away and it was good enough to help calm Rainbow down, but she would be having a word to Rarity about what happened. She heard a beep and felt a wave of bliss as the device they had her plugged into, gave her more medicine. She felt like she was in a dream and she marvelled at how things in medical field had changed from when she would need to have a doctor or nurse come by every so often, to give her the happy medicine.

It took Rainbow Dash a while before she realized there were two ponies in her room. It must’ve been late because the room was darker than before and she couldn’t make out much of the ponies. But as the world around her became a little clearer, it was just one pony in the room. Before she could take a guess who was in the room with her, a voice she knew echoed from the dark.

“Hey, Sugacube. I didn’t mean to wake yah. I just had to finish some things up before I could rush over here,” came the sweet voice of Applejack. Rainbow was glad to see her friend here. It had been a while, between her weather job and seeing Rarity, meeting all her friends was getting kind of hard to do. Rainbow smiled and was about to say ‘hey’ to Applejack, but was cut off again.

“I thought I would take this here chance to talk to you. Seeing as you ain’t flying off and that sort of things. The whole town is abuzz with the news of you and Rarity.” There was a long silence before she began to speak again, this time her voice sounded like she was about to cry. “I wouldn’t be the Element of Honesty if I didn’t tell you this now...” Applejack didn’t know how to tell Rainbow Dash her feelings before. She didn’t want to feel like a fool for tripping over her own words. Her feelings for Rainbow had been there for a long time. Applejack couldn’t really pick the moment in time where she first felt something for this mare lying in the bed. Hearing the rumors about Rainbow and Rarity just gave her the feeling that she was running out of time to get this weight off her back. This was probably the only chance she would ever get to tell her. “Rainbow Dash… I love you.”

Rainbow just laid there, not knowing what she could do at this point. It seemed that Applejack thought she was still asleep. The farmer was pouring out her soul to her, knowing full well that she was with Rarity. She just kept telling her more and more about her feelings. Rainbow had few choices to pick from; she could just lay here and fake being asleep and let Applejack tell her deepest feelings for her, wait here and hope Rarity comes back to help her talk to Applejack about things. Or she could try and sit up so she could talk to Applejack one on one. All the choices seemed to still lead to an heartbroken Applejack and leaving Rainbow Dash feeling like crud. It didn’t take Rainbow long to choose which one she had to do.

She slowly rose out up and let out a gasp as a sharp pain went through her gut. She guessed she had done more damage than to herself than assumed at first. This caused Applejack to look up and then look away as a light blush came to her face.

“Didn’t hear a thing did yah, Dash?” Applejack asked as she tried to keep her voice in check. Applejack prayed that Rainbow didn’t hear her. She looked over to her, seeing Rainbow nod slowly.

“I’m sorry, Applejack, but I couldn’t just lay here and let you think I wasn’t awake. That would be like lying to you. You are my best friend and I could never lie to you.” Rainbow stopped and tried to think of the best way she could word what she should say next. She never thought that she would be placed in something like this. She had to take a page out of Applejack’s book and just be honest with her.

“I am really sorry Applejack. I feel like crud for not sharing the same feelings back. I’m in love with Rarity. I wish there was some way I could make this up to you. Maybe once I’m out I can help you find someone else who shares those feelings for you.” Rainbow hoped that this would work and that they could still remain friends.

It seemed fate, yet again, was not with Rainbow. Applejack’s mind was just rushing in every direction but the right one. She knew that Rainbow was in love with Rarity, but she deep down really wish that it was her that Rainbow was in love with. The facts and what one wish for was two different things. Fact was that Rainbow is with Rarity and no amount of wishing would change that. And the fact that they were all friends just made Applejack feel even worse then she felt telling Rainbow her feelings in the first place. Applejack just couldn’t deal with being in that room at the moment. Applejack burst into tears and run out of the room before Rainbow could even move an inch. She let out a sigh and looked down at the foot of her bed. She thought that life would get better when she told Rarity her feelings. Hearing Applejack tell her the same things that she told Rarity, life just didn’t seem fair to her. Did her happiness come at a price of losing one of her best friends? She could feel a tear being to roll down her cheek.  It wasn’t long before she heard that dang beeping again. The dang thing keep from getting too stressed out, they said that it would cause her to take longer to heal. So it wasn’t long before she fall back into her pillow, the last thing she seen before falling asleep was a copy of ‘Daring Doo’ and a note on top of it.

Rarity had been by Rainbow’s room the other day to visit her a little and drop off a copy of ‘Daring Doo’. Sadly Rainbow was out like a light when she got there. A passing nurse told her that the meds would make her kind of sleep. That this was to help her heal quickly. Rarity understood that she was right and just left the book on the nightstand next to Rainbow and made a quick little note for Rainbow to read, she hope that she would. But she knew the chance of that happening. Everypony knew Rainbow loved reading ‘Daring Doo’.  That note was just something in the way.

This only cause Rarity to giggle. It was getting late and Rarity had a feeling that tomorrow would be busy like no other. Her ears twitched a little as she could hear something off in the distances. She turn only to see a shadow of what she thought was a mare running towards the edge of town. She could hear her crying and only hope that mare would feel better. No pony should being crying on such a lovely night. In the back of her mind she was wondering why that mare was crying.

The thoughts of that mare still peek its little head to the front of her mind, even though she was sitting in her little living room. Then things hit her, the direction the mare was running. Sweet Apple Acres was in that way. There were only three mares she knew of that lived there. It couldn’t be Granny Smith, she was too old to be running that fast. It wasn’t Apple Bloom, she wouldn’t have a reason to be out this late and to be crying. That only left one Apple that could be running and crying into the night.

She didn’t know what to do. She had to do some dress work, but she couldn’t deal with worrying why Applejack was crying about. She looks over to the clock and sighs. It was getting late and by the time she would make it to the farm, the Apples would be asleep. She would go over to see Applejack after her visit with Rainbow Dash. With the next day planned out, she made her way to bed.

The sun was coming up and the light was beginning to bug the living daylights out of Rainbow. She want to sleep a little longer, but the light would not let her be. She was feeling so much better than she did the other day. That was the best part about being a pegasus, you can get hurt and no time at all you're all healed. She keep her head on the pillow and looked over at the little clock they kept on the nightstand. It read twelve in the afternoon. There was a light little cough that made her look at Rarity smiling at her from the only chair in the room.

“Well I see somepony is doing better now?” Rarity just giggled as Rainbow set herself up to have a better look at her.

“I’m doing so much better that my lovely Rarity is here,” Rainbow said in her best flirting voice she could muster at the moment. But it did what Rainbow wanted, a faint red being to come to Rarity’s face. Now it was Rainbows turn to giggle.

“You’re only saying that to get into my bed,” The way the words came out of Rarity’s mouth was enough to send a shudder down Rainbows back. She didn’t want to admit to losing at anything, but she lost when it came to using a flirting voice. It shown as her whole face was turning a very bright red. To save what awesomeness she had left, she quickly change the subject.

“Well… I’m sorry that I wasn’t awake when you stopped by last night. I hope you sleep well without me saying or…” Her eyes darted around the room before finishing what she was saying. “Kissing you goodnight.”

“I did kind of miss your kiss last night. But I had other things last night. I see a mare running down the road and I think that it might have been Applejack.” This cause Rainbows heart feel like it stopped. Should she tell Rarity what happen the night before. It wasn’t a hard thing to pick, she was going to be honest like she was with Applejack.

“I think I know why she was crying for,” Rainbow’s voices was kind of shaky from feeling like crud for being the reason why. Rarity just blinks at her, not fully understanding what she meant.

“What do you mean, Rainbow?”

“She was in my room last night and well…” Rainbow was scared to look and see what Rarity’s face looked like. “She told me that she loved me.” She closed her eyes and hope that there wasn’t a hoof flying to smack her. But there was nothing, not even a word. This scarier than anything else in this world. Then came a question that Rainbow knew the answer or she only knew part of it.

“What did you tell her…” Rarity choked out trying not to cry before Rainbow could tell her told her everything. “And what do you feel… the same?” To Rarity, it felt like the hardest thing to ask. It almost painful to have to ask Rainbow that last question. She loved Rainbow and would believe that she wouldn’t share the feeling that she said she had for her to Applejack.

“I told her that I love you, Rarity. I even told her that I would help her find a pony that would feel the same to her that she felt to me.” She said in a rush to defend herself.  But was she froze as her mind and her heart had a fight for well everything that would matter to her. She knew that she is head over hooves for Rarity, but part of her kind of really like Applejack. The time that this battle was taking place inside of her. To Rarity, it was the answer to the question. Rarity’s mind jump to one thing that she didn’t really want to believe. That Rainbow might have feelings for Applejack and might just leave her for Applejack. She felt so mad and sad all at once. Her world that she just gotten use to was now crumbling away around her.

Rarity was known for an occasionally over reacting to some things.  Rarity was kind of in the right to burst out crying and giving Rainbow a good hoof slap before she ran out of the room.  Rainbow didn’t know what to do. She slowly place a hoof where she was hoof slap. She didn’t cry. She didn’t move. Rainbow just seat in the bed looking at the door. That hoof slap really must knock a few things loose in her head. She didn’t want to rush out after her while she couldn’t really move. She knew that before going to Rarity, she would need to get her feelings in order. Does Applejack mean just as much to her as Rarity or is Rarity the only pony for her. Before Applejack told her feeling to her. It would have been Rarity hooves down, but now she didn’t know any more.

Rainbow never really had the time to just sit back and look at her own feelings. She knew that she like to spend time with Applejack, but to spend that kind of time with her never cross her mind. She like doing the little games that they did to see who was better. Had that been her way to flirt with Applejack. She let out another sigh. Why did this have to happen now. She was enjoying her life. She didn’t want to feel so lost about her own feelings. She had the time on her hooves now to really think about where her feelings belong.  Life just became harder then she thought it would ever be.
