CHAPTER 5: DEMENTIA - PART 3

As Eve made her way through the blizzard and flames, through the ruins of her now demolished home, she sluggishly took each step, and the color of her eyes had dimmed, representing something almost lifeless like a walking corpse. Based on the baby draconequus's demeanor, she was broken, again, the blood of her friend covered her torso, and she was still no different from a little girl in shock even with all her power.

In such a fleeting moment, Ms.Tusk was gone, she'd failed to protect her, and now she was gone. And the little draconequus couldn't wrap her mind around the idea that something like this could happen. She tried to find the answer in her database of experiences and memories, she thought back to so many days, begging for an answer to make sense of this madness in some conceivable way, and something specific actually came to mind.

But it felt like no answer.

Perhaps another realization, perhaps just nostalgic remembrance, but she felt it bore some importance anyway.

A little kindness goes a long way. Those words stuck in her mind like glue.

She drifted back to a certain time, a certain memory, still attempting to find some sense of hope in all this.

__________________________________________________________

The baby draconequus sat on a desolate piece of land in the middle of the ocean. Her cowl raised as she had her frail arms wrapped around her knees. She looked off towards the vast infinite sea, unaware of what she should do, what her purpose was other than to wait for Twilight Sparkle. She was scared, alone, conflicted, in guilt. But she couldn't bring herself to cry at the time, she could only sit there, lost in her own feelings and lonesome thoughts, but as she sat there looking at the big deep blue, a thought actually came to mind. Something emerging out of her tragic existence that gave her more purpose.

A last piece of redemption? Something to help makeup for what she'd done.

Perhaps she could create it? Perhaps she could bring this idea to life to prevent creatures like her from going on the same course, maybe she could even make it fun. She climbed to her feet and raised her paw with a soft smile "Okay...." it couldn't hurt to try. And with a slight twitch of her bandaged paw, a large perimeter of the ocean around her started to freeze over, becoming a solid canvas for her to work with. She snickered playfully, raising her claw and looking over the now massive land of ice, then taking a few steps out onto it before looking up towards the sky. "Hmmm..."

Maybe she could still do some good.

And so she began to craft to her heart's content. Like a god who could create mountains and oceans, craft trees and form stone, she built her island piece by piece, like a child playing with a set of lego's. And day by day, as time went on, her island only continued to grow, at first being some tiny little slice of paradise, then expanding into something much more. It was her personal pride and joy, naturally growing into her own grand achievement.

And although she knew she would most likely have to pay for her crimes in the future, maybe this private sanctuary could remain, and be a home to creatures who had trouble finding their own. A pony society separate from pony society, a society built on the same concepts except for other creatures. It was something worth going for, and maybe she could pull it off if she worked hard enough at it.

There was still that small childish hope, even as an embodiment of despair that she held onto.

And it's what kept her going through this period in her life.

It was as if for once in her life, a higher power had actually been on her side, helping her, pushing her, motivating her to continue, and baring her the rewards for her services. And as she worked, it wasn't surprising to find that some passerby's travelling across the vast seas took notice of the strange piece of land being crafted seemingly out of nowhere.

And maybe some of them even wished to be friends.

__________________________________________________________

One of these curious individuals being none other than a strange dragon creature, looking down from the sky in puzzlement. He looked to the rest of his allies before stopping, "You all return without me, I'll catch up later."

These creatures didn't question one another, nor did they really seem to care. They only regarded their fellow with a nod before continuing on, making their way off in the same direction they were originally heading, and disappearing into the distant clouds. These creatures looked like dragons, but not fully grown, but nor did they seem young, some even being full fledged adults.

The solo individual squinted a bit looking at the island below, as it just shifted and changed at will, it was perhaps one of the most perplexing yet astonishing things he'd ever seen in his life. Most assuredly there was an answer to this mysterious occurrence lurking down there somewhere, and he felt he couldn't leave until he satisfied his curiosity. So he made his way down towards the island, confident in his own capabilities as he sought to find out what awaited him down below.

Eve was still working on her island, and didn't seem to be putting in too much effort in particular, actually she made it look easy. She was like a construction worker, eyeing different pieces of the ever-changing land, finding areas that felt out of place and fixing them, except she accomplished all of this in mere seconds.

She was currently standing on a small stone platform overlooking the entire landscape, and she humorously had a small wooden table with a milkshake sitting atop of it as she went to work. Little did the baby draconequus know, such potential was supposedly only achievable in full grown draconequus adults these days, not that it really mattered to her.

"What is this?"

The appearance of the sudden voice caused the baby draconequus to jump as she yelped a little, turning to see who it was. And when she caught sight of the strange dragon like creature standing behind her, looking down at her curiously, she could only smile as she went back to making her island. "It's a home! I'm making it!"

Well he could see that, but how was she doing it, and more importantly, why create a whole island? Of course he put his curiosities into question. "But why? What's the point of all this, why're you doing it?" He didn't mean to be too privy, but it wasn't often one came across some little creature who could create mountains at will, maybe he'd just stumbled upon god and this was how the whole world was created. Now that'd be funny, he snickered softly to himself at the thought.

Eve chuckled as she looked towards the ground."Because I'm a monster who has a lot to make up for."

This caused the dragon creature's eyes to widen as he raised a brow at the little creature. "Hm?..." Monster? The word left a bad taste in his mouth, he didn't really believe in monsters, just a world of diverse creatures and different philosophies. And more importantly, why did this little creature consider herself a monster? She seemed decent enough, and this island wasn't harming anyone, it actually appeared like a pretty nice thing to do. So once again he put his thoughts more into words. "Why do you call yourself such a thing little lady?"

Eve's eyes saddened as she opened her mouth and paused "I...-" She looked to the lower left, as her body quivered a little, and she had trouble finding the words, especially for some stranger. "I've done really mean things." She smiled with a hopeful gleam. "B-But maybe, if I..if I work hard enough at it, I can-" And as she looked over the vast landscape, the beautiful home she was creating, she didn't even notice the tears trail down her face. "I can..." And as she trembled, noticing the soft transparent pellets hitting the surface of the stone platform, she wiped away her tears and snickered. "S-Sorry, I don't mean to act like such a baby mister....I cry a little too much sometimes..."

The dragon creature responded simply. "Talon Drake is my name little lady." And he approached the sobbing little creature with a concerned look, she certainly didn't seem like any monster to him, and even if she'd done things in her past, she seemed sorry for it. Although he felt there was a lot more to this little creature than met the eye, he lowered himself beside her, getting a good look at her face. "Where I'm from, a little kindness goes a long way." And from his perspective, there'd be plenty of more time to learn about her.

Eve looked at him, a little confused at first as she sniffled. "H-Huh?"

Talon smiled at her with a soft smirk. "You sound earnest, and what I see now is kindness.-"

__________________________________________________________

And as Eve drifted back to the present, looking upon a certain scene, her eyes remained the same.

She took slow easy steps towards more open ruins of her castle, as spread out around her were five figures. As if placed here purposely as some despicable divine sign. She looked over to the first, sprawled out across the blackened floor, the twisted broken corpse of a komodo dragon creature.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who'll see it.

"Muges Komo my lady, such unfaltering dedication is pure art in my eyes."

Then she glanced over to the bug-like creature who'd been severed from the waist down.

And as time goes on.

"You're the first child to not have fled at the sight of me little creature, I am honored."

Then over to a panther-like woman, practically charred beyond recognition as she laid on her side, stiffened in place.

I'm sure you'll start to understand.

"You're no monster to me little girl. My contract is forfeit, I cannot bring myself to kill you."

And then to the impaled dragon creature with his back against a stone slab.

Your kindness certainly shall go a long way. You've just gotta be patient.

"So, would you mind if I decided to assist you out here for some time, my lady?"

And in the background, a massive beast with its torso blown open, its innards hung out, steaming from its recent passing.

Eve made her way to the center between all of them, as her breaths were soft, and barely apparent. She looked around at all of them, praying for any sign of movement, some sign of life in this now frozen wasteland she'd created. And as it only became more apparent none of them were getting up, she couldn't bring herself to accept it. H-How can any of you protect me if you can't even protect yourselves you dummies?

Icy tears rolled down her cheeks as the blizzard caused her mane to flail about violently with the course of the wind. She was angry with all of them, angry with herself, infuriated that she'd let this happen, infuriated that they were all here to begin with, infuriated that none of them survived besides her. How could they all just die on her!? How could they leave her with this burden!? How could this have even happened!? And as she sobbed, attempting to take everything in all at once, it was unbearable. Why did these things always have to happen to her?!

She fell to her knees.

A little kindness goes a long way.

"Mr.Talon?.........."

Silence.

"M-Mr.Sham?...."

Silence.

"Mr.Komo...."

Silence. Nothing besides the sounds of harsh winds.

Eve turned to look at the charred corpse of the kind panther woman she once knew.

"Ms.Prowl?"

And as she did so, the charred corpse caved in on itself, dissipating into ash and blowing right past the baby draconequus's face. Eve snapped. Her fragile glass mind shattering into tiny little pieces. This was absurd! There was so much they still didn't get to do, so much they didn't discuss, so many things they never got to learn about one another, and it was over? Because of what!? Because some random explosions happened to occur right over this very spot and decimate the lot of them, all of them accept her!? What cruel sickening disgusting despicable idiotic twist of fate was this!? Eve screamed at the top of her lungs as she tore at her mane, digging her claw and paw into her face as she did so. Her cries becoming violent and hoarse and barely distinguishable. This is what it all lead up to!? This was the mad destiny she was cursed to!? To have gained everything once again only to have it all stripped away!?

She slammed her paw and claw on the ground, tearing at the floor and gritting her teeth as the frozen tears ran down her face and she didn't know what to do. Not even with her powers, could she magically create life, she couldn't bring them back. So in such a fleeting moment, without having a chance to say farewell, without being able to have one last talk, to even leave on better terms, they'd gone, and all because they were here assisting her with her twisted dark little mind. It was unacceptable! This world, she'd had enough of it! She couldn't take it. She sobbed violently, slamming her head on the blackened pavement and curling in, gripping at her cloak.

This world, wasn't fit enough for anything anymore, no redemption, no happiness, it was never possible.

There was only one fitting method, and she'd chase after it to the ends of the earth to find it.

There was only one route left, but, she'd wait, they wouldn't get away with this.

Princess Celestia snapped angrily. "H-Havoc!? What...What is the meaning of this?"

Havoc looked back to the screen, raising a brow at the princess before snapping his claws, opening his own portal to the Icecream Mountains with a smirk. "Me taking care of the situation Celestia, what's it look like?"

Twilight's eyes widened at the portal. Time magic?

Princess Celestia shook her head in desperation. "You don't know what you're getting yourself into Havoc, is this truly your idea of efficient work!? You have the experience to bring that baby draconequus a means of peaceful resolution! Yet what you're doing now is foolish!" Princess Celestia stomped a hoof as her expression saddened. "You don't have to let this happen! She isn't an average child, she learns and adapts to pain at a dangerously accelerated rate!"

Havoc sighed as he prepared himself to go through the portal. "What're you suggesting Celestia?"

And as he did so, Ravage and Rave, Eve's parents, didn't fail to take notice of Celestia's words.

Princess Celestia gritted her teeth. "What I'm suggesting is she doesn't simply come to an understanding of how pain works, she goes beyond it! What I'm suggesting is that your actions will only continue to accelerate her progression. What I'm suggesting is that her representation may very well be beyond yours, and her destiny is far more complicated than you assume! Do not test her Havoc, I'm begging you!"

Havoc sneered. "So you went playing with fire, eh Celestia?"

Twilight couldn't help but cut in, absolutely confused. "W-Wait! Representation?...Destiny? What're you all talking about?"

Havoc looked to the young princess with a snicker. "So you don't know huh? We aren't so different from one another, although your kind probably likes to think as such little princess. Like ponies have their purposes represented in their cutie marks, we to have our own representations, except ours aren't as common as yours. Every now and then there's some draconequus who end up unable to figure out their own destinies, and have absolutely no grasp on their magic or how to connect with it, these are the failures."

This caused Twilight's nose to wrinkle a bit in annoyance, due to the fact the way he spoke of those draconequus, it almost sounded as if he were describing the cutie mark crusaders.

Havoc raised a paw, continuing. "These draconequus don't last long, not that it's anything surprising. In a society of winners, who needs losers like that? Then there are those draconequus who find their special talent, yet these talents all have some relation with our chaotic magic. Some find their representations in more common things, while others." He smirked a little, glancing to the upper right with a smug expression, as if referring to himself. "Are a little more exceptional." He shrugged with a sigh. "Ya see, we don't have some creepy tat appearing on our rears, so we usually choose what defines us in our names. So in the end, we aren't so different. If anything, just a bit more complicated."

Twilight blinked a bit, left a little speechless by his explanation, almost fascinated by it.

Havoc turned back towards the portal. "Least that's how I see it. Either way, this Eve character was raised in Equestria, meaning her destiny may very well be a mystery to all of us. She bested you all however which has got me interested. She's practically a living legend, and based on what Celestia says, her representation may very well be pain itself." He glanced back at all of them with a sneer. "So I'm going to find out, and overcome this little brat myself." And he waved as he stepped through the portal, accompanied by his two allies.

Celestia snapped at him once again. "H-Havoc, wait!"

But in that next moment, they were already gone.

Twilight looked to Princess Celestia worriedly. "P-Princess?..."

Princess Celestia lowered her head as she just sighed. "....Come Twilight, we must head to that island."

Chaotic Noteworthy took a step forward. "Princess, would you like me to contact magistrum forces, we may very well be heading into a warzone as it is."

Princess Celestia glanced down at him with a raised brow. "I appreciate the offer young stallion, but we are short on time..."

Silver Shade sneered in the background. Hmhm, things just only continue to pick up around these guys.....

While Princess Luna's appearance only worsened as time went on. "S-Sister...forgive me, I don't believe I can accompany you all without first receiving some rest. Please do be careful..." She looked to Chaotic and Silver Shade. "Please you two, do all that you can to keep them safe."

Chaotic and Silver Shade nodded with a salute. Responding in sync. "Of course princess!"

Princess Celestia gritted her teeth lowering her head. "If we allow this to happen, then we may very well be throwing the entire world into a new age of turmoil. Word of Havoc's defeat would most certainly spread, bringing all sorts dangerous individuals to the equestrian borders in search of reward. We cannot allow Eve to put herself in such a situation, to do so would endanger us all."

Twilight felt a little puzzled. "Havoc's defeat? Princess what makes you so sure-"

Princess Celestia cut her off. "Havoc is certainly not the worst Twilight, but nor is Eve. There are many....others...that would be more than willing to reach out from the far reaches of our world to find an explanation behind such a prodigious individual. Eve has proven time and again when pushed, her limitations appear...endless...it is a mystery that continues to jar even me, and it is something I'm certain Havoc is unprepared for. He may be on the council of draconequus, but his intrigue will lead to his downfall. And if word gets out that another of the racial leaders have been defeated by this baby draconequus." She paused as she cringed. "We shall be dealing with a lot more than just Eve."

Pinkie came in out of nowhere. "THE REWARD WILL BE THROUGH THE ROOF!"

Twilight cocked a brow. "Pinkie!? When did you get-......" She did a facehoof. "Oh forget it."

__________________________________________________________

Havoc, Ravage, and Rave, stepped through the portal, exiting out onto the ruined castle of the Icecream Mountains.

While sitting in the distance still on her knees was a baby draconequus, looking towards the ground.

Rave's eyes widened in disbelief as she got a good look at the creature in the distance. It certainly was their daughter, and as she looked to her husband, they both noticed that their expressions mimicked one another's, and they were shocked to find they both looked almost worried as well. Rave looked back to her daughter with sad eyes, she then looked to Havoc in annoyance, angered by the fact he'd totally decimated her home.

How could they have not seen she had so much potential? It was amazing to think she'd created all of this.

Eve just sat there. "Did you all do this?" She asked in a soft tone.

Havoc snickered beneath his breath. "Heh, credits all mine kiddo, sorry, can't help but wreak a little havoc now and then. So, you just been sitting there the entire time?" He leaned forward a bit. "Did you know we were coming or something?"

Eve nodded plainly. "Mhm....they always come to me eventually..."

Havoc snickered as he crossed his arms. "Is that so? Well you see Eve, I've been keeping tabs on you for a-"

Eve interrupted him, her red iris's focusing on the three figures. "Are you ready?"

Havoc almost felt insulted. "Ready? Listen kid I'll be the one to-"

Eve flicked her paw. "I'm starting the game mister."

Havoc sneered. "Hah! Yea right, is this some kind of jo-" But as he moved to raise his paw and claw, he found them stuck in place, unable to budge. He looked to his comrades, Rave and Ravage as they to were stuck in place, Havoc's eyes widened as he looked down at himself. What the heck!? And it wasn't earth nor any other common resource holding them down, it was,....blood? Wrapped around their legs and arms like barbed wire.

The draconequus looked towards the source, it being a impaled dragon creature on a nearby stone slab. She was using his blood as a weapon?! What the hell? Havoc found himself a little caught off guard by the aspect like his fellows but, nonetheless, something such as this wasn't going to keep them pinned to the ground.

Rave snapped to him. "Havoc!"

Havoc snapped back. "I know, I know, alright!? Calm down, sheesh!" He rolled his eyes.

And before the blood wires could tighten to the point of severing their limbs from their bodies, they each phased through and swiftly raised their arms towards the baby draconequus.

Ravage's claws grew to an amazing extent as he snarled. "NOW!"

Havoc gritted his teeth as he chuckled a bit. "You're a little overconfident you know th-" But as the three of them looked to the baby draconequus once again, their eyes widened. And Havoc paused.

Eve's bandaged arm had already been unwrapped as she regarded them with a blank stare. She raised her paw as she nodded. "You to mister." And at that moment she'd manifested a giant smoldering jawbreaker in an instant, the massive sweet looking similar to some otherworldly object, blue and black flames decorating its exterior as the center seemed to hold a scorching red core. Eve flicked her paw up as the smoldering jawbreaker ascended a few meters, then begun its rapid descent back down. In the next moment the baby draconequus got in a batting position as if she were playing baseball, and stood in position as a crystal candy cane appeared in her grips, and she spun full circle, making contact with the jawbreaker perfectly as the smoldering sweet shot towards her enemies at an accelerated rate.

Havoc cringed.

BOOM!

The three draconequus tossed and tumbled midair before landing then skidding on a open field of vanilla icecream.

Rave was left speechless as she stood, breathing heavily and noticing she'd been wounded. She's....excellent....

Ravage gritted his teeth, furious at the fact his own daughter could act so fast. "Absurd..."

Havoc snickered as he looked to the both of them with a soft laugh. "Hah! She got a lucky shot, big deal!" But he was annoyed by the fact these wounds did sting him. How could a little girl manage to bring him pain? Pain he grew to understand over countless millennium!? It wasn't possible! "If she gets too cocky, I'll threaten to blow this whole island to smithereens! She stands no chance, you two got that?!"

A shiver ran down Rave's spine as she looked up towards the sky.

Eve descended as she flapped her wings some.

Havoc smiled. "Hmph..."

Eve landed in the field of vanilla icecream. "Everything here is mine to control. I hope you know this mister."

Havoc sighed at her. "Don't get cocky with me kid. I outclass you in every possible way."

Eve responded in suit. "You broke the rules. I'll make sure there's nothing left of you."

Havoc's nose twitched in annoyance. "There are no rules, you know you're really starting to tick me off. I'd heard rumors of your talents, but you're just a kid with a wild imagination and no respect for her elders."

The three draconequus got into position.

Havoc smirked while Rave and Ravage looked upon their daughter in hesitation.

Eve stood in place. "And you're just a big cheater, a speck that I'll erase from the game."

Havoc sneered once again. "Tch, keep talking kiddo, you believe you're untouchable? I've been at this a lot longer than you have, and I'll show you just how to bring that big wall of invulnerability you believe you have, crashing down. All representations have a weakness, and I will find yours. It's what I do."

Rave called out to her daughter. "S-Sweetie....it's me! I'm your mother!"

Eve's eyes widened as she raised a brow. W-What? But as she took a minute to get a good look at them, there was almost an instant recognition, causing her to shiver. And she took a few steps back. W-What're they?

Ravage looked to his wife. "What do you think you're doing Rave?"

Rave took a step forward. "And we're sorry for abandoning you!" The female draconequus flashed her husband a smirk, before looking back to her daughter with a pleading expression. "Please, don't do this."

Havoc snickered. Hah! So she's playing that card huh? Certainly would make capturing her easier.

But soon Eve stopped retreating backwards, just gritting her teeth as she looked at her mother angrily, tears swelling in her eyes. "Be quiet,....I already had a mom, a real mom...." She wasn't going to allow such a thing to hold her back.

Not now.

She raised her clenched fists, almost amusingly getting into a fighting stance of her own. But...this does make things harder.... What was her birth parents even doing back here? And as much as she didn't want it to, this information did effect her to an extent, she couldn't bring herself to ruthlessly slaughter her own parents, and even though death was now becoming far too common in her world, she couldn't bring herself to off them so easily. That meant she had two targets she needed to avoid attacking.

Rave sighed as she seemed a little disappointed. "You should listen to your mother you know." She chuckled placing a paw on her hip, raising a brow at her daughter with a humored smile. "That's a cute stance you're in, do you plan to kill me with it?"

Eve trembled as she felt frozen in place. Why were her words effecting her?! "B-Be quiet!"

Ravage sighed, taking a step forward and spreading his arms. "Don't do this, you don't really expect to succeed do you?"

Eve gulped, as she found herself questioning her own abilities, and she looked to the lower left. "I..."

Rave snickered. "Listen honey, just come with us, and everything will be fine."

As Eve stood there, she grew increasingly flustered with every word that came out of their mouths. "I SAID BE QUIET!" She raised her paw angrily and prepared for another attack. She wouldn't let their words justify the deaths of her friends. That was the last thing she was going to do.

But Havoc smirked. Took a little too long there kiddo. And with a twitch of his own claw and paw, he worked his magic.

Eve had been distracted by her parent's words, she looked below her feet, noticing a strange marking had appeared and ignited with a red light, which seemed to be a runic circle. H-Huh?

And in the next moment her position had imploded on itself, then setting off like a mine bomb, creating a vast cone shaped explosion reaching to the very clouds.
