"Alright, Miss Hooves. Time to continue the story!" said the Doctor, taking over for the narrator.

"Okay, but I'm gonna need more muffins," Derpy said.

The Doctor said, "Shall we fast forward to when Sombra took rule of the Crystal Empire?"

He continued, "At this point in the story, Sombra had already succumbed to the effects of the dark magic. He had become dark, cruel, and just plain evil! Sombra had barged into the Crystal Empire's throne room."

"Sombra said, 'Crystal King: I challenge you to hoof - to - hoof combat for the throne!'"

"The Crystal King stated, 'You are a fool, Sombra! A failure like you could never defeat me!'"

"They met at the Crystal Arena. Silence fell. Sombra and the Crystal King dashed at eachother, with death as their intent. Horns clashed, hooves cracked, and magic spells were forged. On and on they fought. And as the Crystal King was about to impale Sombra with his horn, Sombra teleported away. He appeared behind the king and whispered in his ear, 'Checkmate,' and impaled him instead. Sombra was victorious, with the king's blood running down his face! He was now ruler of the Crystal Empire," the Doctor recounted.

"For many years, Sombra ruled with an iron fist and dark intents. He enslaved the entire Empire and sent anypony who opposed him to work in the mines or executed them. He had changed, and he was no longer the sweet, dashing stallion with which Luna had fallen in love," the Doctor concluded.

Final Chapter: The Death of King Sombra

The Doctor had finished telling his story to Derpy and went out to do some "timey-wimey" stuff. But that was not the end of the story for Luna and Sombra.

When Luna heard of Sombra's treachery, it broke her heart. And with tears in her eyes, she and her sister banished him from the Crystal Empire. But as he was banished, in a final act of evil, Sombra made the Crystal Empire disappear!

With the grief of losing Sombra, feelings of Luna's night not being appreciated grew. Jealousy and anger toward her sister shaped into a darkness that took hold of Luna and turned her into Nightmare Moon. Celestia had no choice but to banish Luna in the moon.

One thousand years passed. Luna was freed from her prison in the moon. The Crystal Empire reappeared. Sombra returned and was defeated again. He was chased out of the Crystal Empire into the cold. But that was not the end of his story...

Some time later, the Crystal Princess, Cadance, found a magically sealed box. The energy signature indicated that only Luna's magic could open it. Cadance took the box to Luna in Canterlot. Cadance gently woke Luna from her slumber and asked her to open the box, because she was curious what was inside. Luna opened the box and saw that there was a crystal inside. It was a video crystal left by Sombra with a message for her.

Luna told Cadance she wanted to watch it by herself. So Cadance left, with the assurance that she'd later receive a full report about the video. Now alone, Luna watched the crystal.

The video crystal showed a holographic image of Sombra with a message. He pleaded, "Luna, my love. Over the years, we have done so many things. We have had so much fun! Our love is boundless! I feel I must explain what is happening to me, because I am losing control. I have been using dark magic to keep me alive and stave off the cancer, which is ravaging my body. I know it's wrong, but I didn't want to die and leave you alone. But now, I am close to the brink of losing my sanity. I'm afraid of what I might do. That is why you must promise me, if I do lose control, I want you to take my life. I love you, Luna. I'll love you forever."

Luna replied to the holographic image, "I promise, my love. I don't like it, but I do understand. I only wish I'd found this crystal sooner. It would've saved so many ponies, and us, so much pain."

Later, Sombra and Luna met again. Sombra snarled, "Luna, have you come to stop me again?"

Luna said, "Sombra, please try to remember our love. I only want to help."

Sombra barked, "I have no love, for my heart is dead inside!"

Luna sensed then that he was beyond saving. She knew what she had to do.

Before Sombra could react, Luna whispered, "Goodbye, my love," and impaled him with her horn through his heart!

Tears ran from her eyes, as Sombra's blood ran down her face. Luna's heart was broken again.
