Chapter 1: The problem
"I have learnt that my friends are too important to be taken for granted, that I will never meet anypony else that is as honest, kind, adventurous, generous or funny as my friends and if somepony is feeling down, even if they are too busy to , we must always thrive to make them feel better" retorted Twilight Sparkle.
" I am so proud of you, my student " rejoiced Princess Celestia, with a modest smile on her face, not too big, not too small, the perfect amount, such was the way of royalty.
Twilight left the Princess' castle in an almost smug trot, as if to say 'I aced the friendship report again, I'm the mare, I'm the mare!' Of course she did not say this, she just trotted, smiling.
It was about an hour after Twilight had left and the Princess was still at her royal post, with her two guards on her sides, motionless, statue-like and silent. The castle had gained a peaceful tranquility about it, Princess Celestia yawned. She was tired, it had been a very long day of royal duties, normally she was busy any other day, but today was an especially busy day, she damn near had to rebuild half of Equestria, all because of one ponies little 'problems.' She yawned again.
"What time is it?" she asked the guard to her right "Shouldn't Luna be raising the moon tight about now?"
"Just about now, Your majesty, yes" The guard responded in a monotone voice, such as a robot.
Without missing a beat, Luna appeared through the dark blue curtains of her bedroom chambers which separated the royal hall from her door to her room.
"Somepony say my name?" Sniggered Princess Luna
"Finally!" Celestia rolled her eyes "Can you take over from here, please?" Celestia begged
"Yeah sure" Luna giggled at Celestia tired expression "You go to bed, I'll take over from here"
Princess Celestia smiled, still with a tired expression "Thanks sis" She moved out of the throne and advanced towards her bedroom, she turned her head back to see Luna on the thrown, looking upwards, a bluish tint on her horn as she was raising the moon, with a concentrated expression. Princess Celestia gave a slight smile before pulling back her curtains with magic and pushing open the door to venture in her bedroom.
Even though it was night time, the Princess' room was brighter than the moon plus all the stars combined, it had a grand 4 poster bed in the middle of the room against the wall, with pearl coloured sheets, next to the bed, on each side were Mahogany drawers. In the far corner was a walk in wardrobe, full of different fancy, which was strange considering she didn't wear them most of the time. Her window was opposite her bed and showed a beautiful, unimaginably immaculate view of Ponyville.
As she viewed over her room, her smile melted away and turned to a both disgruntled and tearful expression, she slumped onto her bed and shoved her pillow in her face. After a few minutes she brought herself up from her submerged state.
"Everyday, every fucking day, it's the same thing, what is the point? Why do I bother teaching? Why do I bother getting close to people when I know I will outlive them? I know they will die. Anypony would do anything to be where I am right now, but they don't know how I suffer without ever being in pain, how thousands of years pass like mere seconds, the sacrifices I had to commit. The things I have seen, the places I have been...... the deaths of my closest friends."
The princess stares into space as if in a trance, yet she is merely reminiscing of her past.
"Starswirl, my friend, I remember you, when my father taught you all you knew, when Discord rained over Equestria, I'm sorry, I tried to motivate the Prince and Princess......but, I couldn't, believe me please, they were in some trace"
The princess' tears streamed sideways down her eyes, she closed them momentarily before reopening them, back into her trance.
"I'm sorry, what Discord did to you, I'm so sorry"
The princess regained her composure, she stood from her bed, brushing her tears away from her face with her hoof.
"No longer, no longer will I be encased in this earthly prison, a rejection of both heaven and hell. I swear by my father, I will turn myself mortal." Celestia raised her hoof in anger.
"Celestia?" Princess Luna entered the room
"Yes, sister?" Celestia responded with a perfectly neutral face
"It's nearly dawn, you should probably take over from here"
Celestia sighed. A restless night. Perfect.
