Rainbow Dash: The Mother of Three

Chapter 1: A Pregnant Mare

A Pregnant Mare

A cyan mare lay on a couch inside of her cloud home along with her adopted daughter. Her Rainbow mane glistened in the sunset, showing her beautiful colors. As she lay on the couch, her orange pegasus daughter was playing with some Wonderbolts toys. The mare looked down at the young filly and smiled. As she looked down, she saw the unmistakable roundness of her belly. She was with foal. Her foal had been inside of her for the past nine months. She was due within a few weeks. Her heart warmed at the thought of it. Her adopted daughter would soon have two new siblings. Rainbow Dash remembered the day when she found out.

"TWINS!?" The cyan mare was exuberant at the thought and crushed her husband into a big hug. "I can't believe it!" Soarin', her husband, fought as hard as he could to breath. They were at the gynecologists office finding out about the health of their baby. They had refused to ask the gender of the child, or rather children, because they wanted it to be a pleasant surprise come the big day. Rainbow Dash could not have been happier with the development of her children. Healthy, and twice the fun. Of course, that also meant double the work for taking care of the children, but Dash was ready for anything.

Dash's thoughts were interrupted when Scootaloo spoke to her mother. "Mom?" she asked in the voice that melted Rainbow's heart to the core. "When is my sibling coming?"

Rainbow looked down at the orange filly. Everytime Scootaloo called Rainbow Dash mom, a little part of her melted. She loved Scootaloo more than anything in the world. The day she adopted her was the best day of her life. Her gaze drifted into the orange filly's eyes. "Very soon Squirt! Are you excited? You might get a filly or a colt to play with!"

"I hope one of them is a filly!" Scootaloo replied with exuberance.

"Why not a colt? Wouldn't you want a little bit of something different?"

"Well ya, but a filly would be easier for me to play with!" Rainbow chuckled. She really did not care what the gender of her children would be. She just wanted them to be healthy.

"Well at least you have two chances at getting a filly. Who knows? Maybe they will both be fillies!"

Scootaloo's eyes widened at the thought. "Ohmigoshohmigoshohmigosh! That would be SO AWESOME!" Rainbow could not have helped but smiled at how the filly had picked up her mothers catchphrase. Rainbow Dash heard a rumble come from Scootaloo's stomach.

"Sounds like some filly is hungry. What do you say I whip up some mac and cheese? It is the best thing I cook"

"Its the ONLY thing you can cook, mom," Scootaloo replied as she got up and ran to the kitchen.

"Hey! Don't diss your mother's horrific cooking," Dash answered playfully. She walked over to the kitchen and began to cook the mac and cheese. As she cooked, she could not help but wonder what the future would hold. Not one, not two, but three total children to take care of? It certainly would put a lot of stress on Dash and Soarin'. Because Rainbow Dash was idly cooking the mac and cheese, not paying too much attention, Scootaloo had to yell to tell her mom the food was done. Rainbow Dash snapped back to reality, looking down at the cooking pot below her. Scootaloo was right. The macaroni and cheese was done. "What would I do without you Scoots?"

"Probably burn the house down! Now hurry up! I'm starving!" Scootaloo said, dramatizing how hungry she was.

Rainbow Dash poured the food into a bowl and handed it to the filly. The minute the filly sat down at her chair, she began to wolf down the plate. "Easy there carnivore! You're rivaling my cravings of the past few months!" She watched as Scootaloo vaccuumed the food off of the plate. She couldn't help but see herself in the filly. She was just as spunky and excited about flying as she was when she was a filly, not to mention as hungry! Her thoughts were interrupted when a baby blue stallion walked through the front door.

"Honey! I'm home!" Soarin' walked to the kitchen, obviously enticed by the aroma of the mac and cheese Rainbow Dash made for Scootaloo. "Honey! Something is wrong! The kitchen isn't burned down!"

"Haha Mr. Wonderbolt. Why don't you sit down so I can give you some of my burned cooking," Dash replied sarcastically. Soarin's reply was nothing but a sheepish grin. Rainbow Dash walked to the pot and poured some food for her and her husband. As she set down both of the bowl's, a sharp sound came from their daughter.

"Done!" Scootaloo had finished the entire bowl in under five minutes! "Ten seconds flat mom!"

Soarin' burst out laughing at the comment, but immediately stopped when she looked at his scowling wife. "Here's your food honey"

"Thanks Dashie!" He bent his face into the food and began to sloppily eat it all up.

"Calm down Soarin'! It isn't apple pie!" Dash said, laughing at the sight. She couldn't help but be flattered at the same time though. Usually when Soarin' ate like that, he really enjoyed the food. Dash watched as the food flung from the bowl into his mouth and everywhere else. A thick bong was heard from Rainbow Dash's wall clock. 9 'o Clock.

"Time for somepony to go to bed!" Scootaloo froze, her eyes glazing on Dash.

"Now?"

"You heard me young filly. You need your sleep for school tomorrow! Besides, tomorrow is Friday! You get to stay up all you want this weekend squirt!" Rainbow Dash replied with a smile.

"Please? Just five more minutes with Soarin'?"

Rainbow looked into the filly's eyes. She couldn't say no to that. "Fine! But 5 Minutes!"

"Yay!"

Rainbow Dash walked up into her room to brush her teeth. She had to be extra careful, what with her giant belly obscuring everything. The past three months have been the hardest on the pegasus. She wasn't allowed to fly for fears of endangering the baby. Telling Rainbow Dash not to fly was like telling Pinkie Pie to not throw parties. It just can't work out. Thanks to the pestering of her husband, however, she has not flown since she was told not to. She brushed her teeth, attempting to get all the food out. When she was done, she walked downstairs to see Scootaloo hugging Soarin'.

"Good night daddy!" Scootaloo said. Rainbow Dash had a tear begin to form in her eye. That was the first time she had seen Scootaloo call Soarin' dad.

"Time to go to bed Scoots!"

"Okay mom!" Scootaloo broke the hug with Soarin' and trotted with Dash up to her room. When Scootaloo was tucked into bed, Rainbow Dash sat at the foot of it.

"Mommy loves you Scoots. Good night, I will see you in the morning," Dash said, kissing the filly on the forehead.

"Love you mom!"

"I love you more Scoots," Dash replied, closing the door to Scootaloo's room slowly.

Rainbow Dash walked down to Soarin', who remained at the dining table. Soarin' seemed off ever since he had gotten home. Dash looked at him and asked, "Whats eatin' at ya? You sorein again?" Rainbow Dash smiled at her pun.

"No. It's Spitfire. She says she may have to kick me off of the Wonderbolts, seeing as I have been missing too many practices to take you to all the prenatal doctors. It has been biting at me. She has been overworking me, trying to get me to break. I think she may be jealous of all of this"

"Now why would she be jealous?"

"Because we were together before I met you. I thought we were soul mates. When I met you, however, I felt something I never felt in my life. Love. You were the only pony that I had ever felt that way about. I love you Dashie, and I had to get rid of Spitfire to truly show it!"

"I'm flattered. You know I don't dig the emotional stuff though!"

"So how is everything with the baby?"

"Babies..."

"I know! I just keep forgetting!"

"Well, today was relatively quiet. I think Fluttershy is set to come over tomorrow. I can't wait for these babies to come out! I am getting sick of staying on the ground!"

"It will all be over in a couple of weeks honey. Then you'll be a mother!"

Rainbow Dash felt a tear fall from her eye. "I already am a mother," she replied, thinking of how much she loved Scootaloo. "I just can't wait to be a better one"

Soarin' and Rainbow Dash hugged, for what seemed like an hour. Nothing could break them apart. Not even Spitfire. They each felt the heat of eachother radiating to the other. Rainbow Dash now felt multiple tears fall from her eyes. I will be a strong mother. For Scootaloo and my new children!
