My Name is Nightmare Moon
Chapter 7: Chapter #5- Time for Action and Time for Tears
Previous Chapter Next ChapterI was silently sobbing into my own hooves. I fuck everything up. Everything. I think Nightie went somewhere, I can't even summon her by thinking of her.
I'm just... alone right now. I piss everyone off. Even the little pony in my head doesn't want to be near me. Figures.
The tears slid down my face and onto my legs, leaving wet trails in the black, silken fur. I sniffled, the waterfall never stopping. I don't even know how long I was here. I want to be away. I want to be outside. I want... I want to be home. But I pissed off everyone there, too. I pissed off everyone I care for. Who's not pissed at me? I'm even pissed at me.
I hate being emo.
I finally stemmed the flow of tears, standing up and walking over to a cracked, dirty, long mirror, staring at the beautiful mare who's body housed the stupid me. I looked at the mare in the mirror, noticing my mane was now closer to a bob, seeing as the man had cut nearly all of it off, getting a lot of money for the locks of my mane. Nightmare Moon's mane. Fuck, I can't even be in my own body. I wasn't even crying my own tears.
"I fucking hate you, you little bitch, E-" I can't even bring myself to say it. That name, the name I hate the most. I can't say my own name. My throat twisted into a knot, burning, then the tears starting falling again. I drove my front hoof through my damned reflection, shattering the mirror. My face felt hot, and the numbness in my hoof turned into a pain like I'd never felt. I wanted to scream out, but I couldn't even bring myself to do that. Blood streamed out from several gashes, shards of glass all over my silky black limb.
And then I felt someone removing the glass while stroking my chest. My eyes blurred, I peered into the mirror again. Nightie was controlling m- her hoof to pet my throat and chest, and using magic to remove the shards and close the wounds. She had a small smile through the wetness. I added to that smile, even if it was miniscule.
"I know how you feel." She whispered into my brain once my hoof was healed.
"N-no one does..." I choked out, losing the smile.
"Maybe not. But I can try." She tried to force the smile back, but I resisted, my head hanging instead.
I whimpered, ears flopped against my head, but she kept stroking.
"Why are you sad, my little dearest?" Her tone was worried. I was too sad to notice her being affectionate.
"B-because... I can never go home..." I sat on my rump, using my free hoof to wipe away the tears.
"I promise, once I'm done with you, you can go home." She cooed softly.
"N-no! You d-don't underst-st-stand!" I coughed, my wings flared. "I c-can't go back because ev-everyone hates m-me!"
"Shh, I doubt they hate you."
"Th-they do! M-my own m-mother told me I'd become a f-fucking druggie!" Nightie seemed a bit taken aback that I cussed. Or maybe because of my mother's prohecy. Or both. Heh, I'm trapped in a guy's shed because I'm a black alicorn with a starry mane, which he's cutting off and selling, who also has a demon in her mind trying to bring eternal night, which is a villian from a children's show about goddamn pastel ponies. How sure am I that I'm not on acid?
"Oh, but mothers are like tha-"
"NO, THEY'RE FUCKING NOT!" I screamed, my throat hoarse.
"Shhhh, little one."
"N-no one cares..." I whispered, a trail of snot running down my nostril. "I p-pissed off the only one who ever l-loved me..."
"Trust me, someone cares." Nightie forced me to look into the largest shard, which had landed directly in front of me.
"I don't even care about myself." I choked out, trying to look away.
"No, little one," Nightie said, "You don't have to."
"Then who cares?"
"Me."

Luna opened her eyes, finally awaking. She groaned, however, when she noticed she was in an empty, black abyss, filled with mist.
"Thou hath brought thee to thou realm, night demon, what doth thou want?" Luna cried out into the emptiness. From the swirling mist, Nightmare Moon walked out, fully clothed in her armor.
"I want you to know that you were fun when we were together, I mean it, I really mean it, but I found another lonely little filly to befriend. So, I guess this is goodbye, Luna." Nightmare Moon said, patting the blue alicorn on the head before turning to walk away.
"Thy shalt not let thou escape and corrupt another innocent soul! Tell thee, Nightmare Moon, where is thou latest victim located?" Luna snarled, her wings flared as she caught the larger of the two in her magic.
"Ooh, Luna, you already know. I know you know." The black mare easily wiggled out of the younger's relatively weak magic. "She's on Earth, somewhere you cannot get to. Besides she needs me. Have you not seen into her mind?"
Nightmare Moon laughed for a moment. "Oh, of course you haven't! I forgot, we're not one anymore. However, I am so very close to it with the other. You see, we're in one body, but when she finally accepts, we will be bonded until she dies. Which I won't let happen. She's just too much fun."
"How old is thou victim this time?" The blue one asked, still in a defensive position.
"Oh, thirteen, fourteen at the most." Nightmare Moon looked at her boot.
"So thou is choosing one from an uneasy age? Thou cheat, Nightmare."
"Heh, nothing is easy, from what she's told me. She's about as messed up as you were."
"THOU HAD LOST THY PARENTS, COLTFRIEND, AND BEST FRIENDS!" Luna screeched, losing it just as Nightmare had hoped. "OF COURSE THY WAS MESSED UP!"
Suddenly, a loud, heartfelt scream of sadness echoed through the mist.
"She's upset! So sorry to cut our little visit short, but she needs me right now." Nightmare said, opening her leathery wings.
"No! Thy shall lock thou in thy mind if thou tries to hurt her more!" Luna's horn lit up, but Nightmare Moon had pushed herself into the air.
"No, I really have to go. DAMMIT, she hurt herself. I really must go!" And with that, the demon flew into the mist, and Luna woke up for real in a hospital bed. It had been the real Nightmare Moon, Luna was positive, but when she spoke about the girl being sad and hurt... why did Nightmare look worried?

"WHAT?!"
Celestia jaw dropped when Luna told her of her talk with Nightmare Moon.
"A-are you sure it wasn't just an exhausted dream?" The white alicorn asked.
"Thy art certain, sister." Luna said, looking out the window, into the distance. It was late at night, but neither sister cared. "And the worst part... the victim is but a child, this makes the whole ordeal all the more dangerous."
"No... no... she wouldn't..." Celestia hit herself a couple times. "Even you were technically in adulthood when Nightmare Moon corrupted you..."
"This child, though. Whilst thy was speaking to Nightmare Moon, the child had screamed as if she was sad and in pain. Not physical pain, but emotional." The blue mare finally averted her eyes, staring at her hooves. "Thy wonder why. The Nightmare said the child is in as much agony as thy was, but then again, she might have lied."
"When should we initiate a search party?" Celestia asked, putting her hoof on her sister's.
"Immediately."

Dearest Twilight Sparkle,
As you may or may not have known, Nightmare Moon has been torn from my sister, and has inhabited the mind of a teenaged filly from a place called "Earth". From what Nightmare Moon has hinted to Luna, the filly is in much grief and therefore not only is she much more susceptible to being corrupted, but due to her young age, she may also inadvertantly abuse her newfound powers should Nightmare allow it. We are counting on you to pinpoint exactly where the Nightmare and her victim are so we can try to save the filly and lock the Nightmare away face-to-face. The fate of not only Equestria and Earth, but the poor victim, lay in your hooves.

Twilight read the letter over several times. The lavender unicorn finally looked up from the paper to the group of five mares and a purple drake sitting around her eagerly awaiting news.
"Nightmare Moon has been ripped from Princess Luna." The mare said plainly, holding her hoof up so nopony would intterupt her. "Her host is a young teenage filly in a place called "Earth". This apparently is not in Equestria, possibly not even on the planet of Gaia. It's up to me to find her."
"Wait a moment," A cyan pegasus with striking magenta eyes and a scruffy rainbow mane spoke up. "Can life exist on other planets than Gaia?"
"Theoretically, yes," Twilight said, adjusting a pair of specticals on the tip of her velvety muzzle. "Earth might even be in another galaxy, or even universe."
"Now how in the buck would Nightmare Moon escape Princess Luna's body and world-jump?" The rainbow mare asked again.
"She's a goddess, Rainbow Dash, what do you think?" Twilight stared at Rainbow Dash, who cowered a bit.
"So, what are you going to do, Twilight dear?" Rarity, an elegant alabaster unicorn with a curled purple mane, asked the bookish mare.
"I am going to find Nightmare Moon, no matter how long it takes, or how hard it is." Twilight replied, determination in her purple eyes. "Because a lot of ponies are in danger... and whatever might be on Earth."

It was thundering, but I wasn't scared. I was never scared of thunder or lighting, I actually loved it. I was, however, still sad. I reflected on what Nightie had said. That I didn't need to be there for myself, because she would be. I wondered for a moment if that's what she told Luna. But, as soon as the thought came, it vanished like it was a whisper I didn't care to listen to.
Then, I just cried.
God, that never happens unless I'm seriously stressed. Then again, I kind of was.
"Do you want me to sing you a lullaby?" Nightie asked gently, almost motherly.
"I... n- actually, yes. Please, could you?" I replied, just like a little kid. I just needed someone to comfort me, and maybe, just maybe, Nightie could do that for me right now.
Before she even started, an odd feeling rushed over my coat, like electricity or something.
"Come to me, children, and follow my way,
Into the world of darkness and magic.
With all my power,
I'll show you the way.
To all your dreams,
Hopes,
And illusions."
The electric feeling once again rushed over my coat, making me shudder.
A clap of thunder roared through the sky as Nightie hummed to the tune of the song. I heard branches falling, and I would have been a bit skittish if not for the goddess singing to me.
"Come to me, children, and follow my way,
Into the world of darkness and magic.
With all my power,
I'll show you the way.
To all your dreams,
Hopes,
And illusions."
I could feel my eyelids drooping as she sang the same words again. I didn't care, I was exhausted, and I wanted to sleep before tomorrow came. She hummed again, a mental fog overtaking me before she spoke softly in a sing-song voice.
"Darkness.
Magic.
Power."
I was almost gone.
"Dreams.
Hopes.
Illusions."
The electric feeling.
"Come to me, children, and follow my way,
Into the world of darkness and magic.
With all my power,
I'll show you the way.
To all your dreams,
Hopes,
And illusions."
The feeling for the last time before...
I...
Fell...
Asleep.
