Chapter 1: 1. Chapter 1: Not a good start

I was playing guitar on stage. Thousands of people cheering for me and my friend, Silver Blaze. I had my guitar in my hands, fingers ready to strum the chord leading into our first song. He stood behind his drum kit, his hands in the air with his sticks in his hand. He hit them together to count us in.

And then I woke up.

I peeled off the pizza that was on my hair. It's grease was left in my rainbow hair and my band mate was laughing his arse off. He was my only friend and we made a band soon after finding out we both played instruments. I played guitar and sang and he played drums and did some singing as well.

"Arse hole." I said to him.

"Ah cheer up Runner bean. We're on next anyways." He explained. He played with his pastel purple hair and I tried to sort mine out. I reached inside my bag and I pulled out my song writing book. I started reading over the lyrics to the song we were going to play for our school's battle of the bands. We had entered alongside loads of other people. But it also prompted others to make some bands that sounded like they were made the night before the competition. The one playing at the moment were some sort of pop boy band thing and they sounded pure shit. They focused more on dancing and prancing around the stage like retards than the actual music.

"Oh come on. Can they shut up already? I want to get our set over and done with." Blaze moaned.

"Same here. Look at them. They have no actual musical talent." I agreed. I reached back into my bag and I pulled out some stuff to do my eyeliner with.

"Another layer?" Blaze asked.

"Yeah. Gotta look fresh. If you want, their are some spare piercings in there." I told Blaze. He reached in and pulled out a bag full of eyebrow and lip piercings.

"Dude, how many of these do you need?" He asked. I was doing my eyes at that point still and I couldn't answer him. He didn't wait for an answer and put one in his eye and gave himself snake bites. Once I was done with the eyeliner we swapped and I put one in my eyebrow but only one in my lip.

"Well then. We look scene enough now. What song are we doing again?" Blaze asked.

"Ummmmm. Out of the black by Royal Blood." I told him.

"Shit man. Gonna be tough." He replied.

"Yeah... But we've ran through it before and it sounded perfect." I said.

The band playing had finished to a very undeserved applause from the judges. We had soundchecked and moved Blaze's drum kit onto the stage. I stepped up to the microphone and I had my guitar in my hands.

"Hi. We are 4Ever and the song we are doing is a cover of Out Of The Black by Royal Blood." I annoucned. Blaze counted me in and I started with the guitar riff.

The song took everything out of us and at the end of the song Blaze had a drum solo. I ended it with a dive bomb using my guitar's whammy bar and the judges gave us an unappreciatve clap.

"Thanks for your time." I said as we left the stage.

We packed up our stuff and kept it near the stage so we could pick it up at the end.

After another half an hour of boy bands and cringe worthy pop punk bands, the judges had come to a conclusion on who was the winner.

"Today, we have seen some remarkable talent. But, there can only be one winner. And that is." One of the three judges annoucned. Me and Blaze didn't feel moved at all because the judge sounded as bored as we were.

"The lads who made up London Revival!" The judge droaned. We turned around and saw it was the boy band that I was unfortuantly woken up to. They cheered as they collected their prizes.

"Seriously? Bullshit." Blaze moaned.

"Yeah!" I agreed. The group swaggered past us and showed off their £5 vouchers as if they had just won the lottery.

"Better luck next time emos!" The leader jeered in my face.

"Oh sod off. There's no talent in singing with a backing track." I told him.

"Well... Last time me and the lads here checked, screaming doesn't count as singing!" He argued. By now, I was pissed off and I stood up so I was towering over him.

"Well... Last time I checked, whining and moaning doesn't count either. So how about you get the fuck out of my face before I hurt one of you." I threatened. He scoffed at me and walked off.

We grabbed our stuff and we made our way back to my house. I put my guitar back on it's stand and Blaze set up his kit behind it.

"That was so stupid." Blaze muttered. I turned to face him and I couldn't help but smile.

"Yeah. But I caught a glimpse of one of the Judge's notes. He thought we were pretty good from the looks of things." I told him.

"And? They still had to come to a vote." He argued back. I knew he was uspet about it so I brought him into a hug. As I was embracing him I saw someone put something through the letter box in my door. I went to go and get it and attatched to a newspaper was an ad for something called 'Rock Out War'

"Hey man! You might want to see this!" I told Blaze as I held up the leaflet for the ad.

"What the hell man? This sounds awesome!" He exclaimed. We read through the whole thing and we saw that the prize for winning the contest was a summer at a recording studio where we get to record and mix an album.

But the only downside was we had to picked out by possibly hundreds of other bands that entered.

"Well... Worth a shot ain't it?"I told Blaze.

"Yeah. Let's sign up for it then!" He replied.

I got out my laptop and we went straight to the link on the leaflet. We made an account and we were able to use our band's current name. We looked around at other band's pages and some of them seemed to be legit bands. We looked at some original music made by others and it sounded bland and boring.

"Well. Should we start recording some stuff?" Blaze asked me.

"Yeah. Let's get to it!" I replied.
