Full Summary: The Elements of Disharmony had been lost for 15 years until Stormcrasher, Lily Star, Sunburst, Flamestriker, Roadrunner, Courage Fighter, and Destinyseer stumbled upon them. The six elements yield power as strong as the Elements of Harmony and Magicseeker, a unicorn with dark intentions, plans to take over Equestria with them. While still learning how to control these new elements, the six ponies must protect them from the darkness that is Magicseeker at all cost. Even if it means they must become friends to do so.

Author's note: This takes place before the events of season 4. This is my first MLP, so please give me some suggestions on how to make this a better fanfic.

    Prologue

Nestled behind thousands of trees and caves, there sat a small cottage in the Everfree Forest. There was not much inside. Only a shelf of spell books, a wooden table, six gems, a unicorn, and a pegasus.

"We need to get rid of them," the pegasus grumbled, opening and closing his wings. "Princess Celestia will not be pleased."

The pegasus had a tan coat and his cutie mark was a shovel. His mane was yellow and was very short. He had small pupils and sea green eyes. He was muscular, yet small and fragile.

Magicseeker jabbed him in the chest with her hoof before going back to wrapping six jewels in silver paper. The first was a diamond, the second was a sapphire, the third, an amethyst, the fourth, a ruby, the fifth, an emerald, and the last, a mix of an opal and a tourmaline. Though they were all shaped like real gems, they lacked the bright, beautiful colors and were replaced with shades of black, white, and grey.

Magicseeker, the unicorn, had a dark red coat with splashes of blood red. Her eyes were blue, gentle, and soft, yet she was cold and cruel. Her mane was pitch black and curly and she wore golden earrings in her ears. Her cutie mark was three black swirls in the form of a heart

"We can't, Cloudjumper!" Magicseeker snapped. Her reddish pink horn glowed as she placed the wrapped gems in a box. "The Elements of Disharmony are indestructible." She rolled her eyes at his confused look. "They can not be destroyed. And besides," She tapped the box with one hoof, "I need them to destroy the Elements of Harmony."

"But they aren't as powerful as the ones Princess Twilight and her friends possess," whimpered Cloudjumper.

"They will be," Magicseeker replied with a wicked smile which instantly shut him up. "Oh, they will be. I just need some bark from a Timberwolf."

"Are you mad?" Cloudjumper jumped back. "A Timberwolf?! How are you going to get bark from a one of those things?"

"Who said I was getting it?"

Cloudjumper trembled from head to tail as he crept slowly towards some sleeping Timberwolves. Why, oh, why, did he agree to this so long ago? To join Magicseeker on her quest to rule Equestria?

Because she's your friend, he told himself unhappily, stepping over a brown tail. And she'll use those horrible elements against you.

He sighed quietly, lifting his spear ever so slight at the sight of a flinching wolf. Cloudjumper's gaze soon landed on a small Timberwolf sleeping by a tree.

He gulped deeply, stepping towards it. He held up one of the Elements of Disharmony with his other hoof. It was the amethyst, The Element of Lies.

Cloudjumper edged closer towards the young Timberwolf, spear raised. Once close enough, the pegasus stabbed it in the back. It left a hole right through the wolf.

Instantly, it howled, waking the whole pack.

Cloudjumper froze, and for a minute he thought his heart stopped beating. He backed away from the little wolf as it reassembled itself. Timberwolves turned to stare at him, yellow eyes filled with hate.

He quickly grabbed the bark that the Timberwolf had missed and opened his wings to escape. Unfortunately, he was tackled by one of the wolves surrounding him. Snarling, the wolf opened its jaws, ready to come in for the kill and snap his neck.

I knew it! I knew it! I knew it! I'm going to die. Thanks a lot, Magic. He closed his eyes.

But then, a purple-grey beam shot the wolf in snout. It shivered before falling down into a pile of ash.

The pegasus blinked, spotting the Element of Lies on the ground a few feet away from him. He guessed he dropped it when he had been pinned. It was glowing purple-grey like the beam.

Cloudjumper nervously turned to the other Timberwolves. They all just stood there, staring at the ash of their fallen member of the pack. Using this distraction to his advantage, he picked up the gem with the hoof holding the spear and fled.

Magicseeker opened the cottage door to a panting Cloudjumper. She prepeared to ask what had happened, but thought better of it. She noticed the pegasus carrying bark and yelped in joy, snatching it from him.

"I am NEVER helping you again!" Cloudjumper cried as she dropped the bark into a heated black cauldron. "If it weren't for the Element of Lies, I would be DEAD right now."

The unicorn waved a hoof dismissively. "Stop complaining. You're alive, are you not?"

    "Yes, but-"

"But nothing, all that matters is that you are alive and, more importantly, you have brought me my wood!" She sang the last part happily. "So how did my wonderful Element of Lies help?"

"It shot a beam out at a Timberwolf that was about to kill me and turned it to ash."

    "Good, good."

"The weird thing is that the gem wasn't in my possession. I accidentally dropped it." Cloudjumper blushed at the last part. The unicorn had trusted him with one of Element of Disharmony and he had let it slip out from his hooves.

Magicseeker gasped. "No, no, this will not do." She opened the box of gems and unwrapped them. "The elements are not supposed to help others." Magicseeker dumped the elements in the cauldron. Cloudjumper followed her lead and put the Element of Lies with the others. "Luckily, this spell I'm about to cast should perfect them." She pulled out a spell book from the shelf with her magic.

Flipping through the pages endlessly, she finally stopped on one with scribbled drawings of the Elements of Harmony on the right page. Magicseeker gagged in disgust at them before looking to the words on left page.

She muttered the words into the cauldron, the red liquid inside began to glow intensely. Cloudjumper's eyes widen in fear. The Elements of Disharmony were in red bubbles and were slowly rising.

"This land shall feel my wrath!" Magicseeker cried out the last sentence, causing the six elements to blast out the open windows and door. When the unicorn saw this she snorted in fury. "Where are they going?!" She glanced one of the windows to see the Element of Darkness rush passed the many trees in the Evergreen Forest.

    Cloudjumper shrugged. "Somewhere?"

She shot him a glare full of hatred. She looked down at the book she was reading. "I must've messed up a line. That wasn't supposed to happen!"

"Since your little jewels of terror are lost, I'm just going to take my leave." Cloudjumper hurried towards the door.

"Not so fast," hissed Magicseeker, using her horn to stop him. "I need you to find them."

"But they could be anywhere in Equestria!" Cloudjumper replied, struggling against her magic hold just as the spell book flipped to a page with a map. There were six glowing dots heading in different directions. Written at the top was Map of Equestria. There was a legend with the Elements of Disharmony beside it.

"Here." She shoved the book into his hooves. "Use this to find my gems."

    "Bu-"

"You say but a lot, don't you?" Magicseeker whispered under her breath. "Just find them or I'll find a book to place a curse on you."

    Cloudjumper sighed in defeat. "Fine."

    2. Chapter 1

Author's Note: Sunburst's name has been changed to Charmcaster due to the fact Sunburst is a canon character.

    Chapter One

Destinyseer groaned, rubbing her head with one hoof. Where was she? How long had she been out? Two? Three hours?

She got up, taking in her surroundings. She was in a dark forest. A small stream flowed by in front of her. Destiny looked up to see a crow perched on a branch, looking down at her with curious eyes. She could smell the sweet, delectable scent of maple syrup coming off the trees as she tried to recall what had happened.

I was... Running? Yeah, that's it. From... uh, Destinyseer thought, tapping her dark purple chin. Umm... Okay, I have no idea. Nevermind that, I should probably get home.

Lifting her head high, she trotted forward, her white tail swaying back and forward behind her.

Destinyseer was a earth pony with a dark purple coat and a straight white-silvery mane. Her eyes were sunset orange with a mix of a bright vermilion red. She had three black dots atop her head. One on her forehead and the other two over her eyes. Her cutie mark was a bunny made of red, gold, and orange dots, for her talent was fireworks.

Mumbling to herself, she stepped upon something hard. She yowled as pain flared in her front right hoof, jumping back.

"Ouch, ouch, ouch," Destinyseer cried, hugging her hoof close to her chest. "Dang rock!"

Charging up the magic in her horn, she looked down to see it was not a rock, but a black sapphire. The unicorn tilted her head at this. Last time she checked, sapphires were blue not black.

Destinyseer's horn glowed as she lifted the gem and eyed it closely. It sparked in the sunlight as she dropped the sapphire onto her held up hoof. There was a bright blue flash once it made contact with her fur. She was thrown back into a tree, banging her head against it very hard.

"Not again," she moaned, blinking at the black spots in her vision. "Why'd it do that?"

She walked back over to the stream to see if she was seriously injured. She gasped at what she saw. Destinyseer was wearing a grey necklace with the black sapphire around her neck and blue vines were spiraling up her hooves. She tried to yank the necklace off with her magic but failed. She tried again with the vines, but again failed.

Well, it isn't that bad, Destinyseer thought, admiring the jewelry. I still want to get it off though. It might belong to somepony else. And these vines will probably leave with it. I hope somepony in Fillydelphia will be able to remove the necklace. Speaking of home, where is it? Wait, what am I saying? I'll just use magic.

After saying the spell she closed her eyes, ready for dark purple mist to take her back home. Nothing happened. She opened one eye in annoyance. Why hadn't her spell word? Her spells always worked!

"Was it you?!" Destinyseer snarled down at the necklace, tapping it. "Or was it you?" She held a hoof. "Did one of you do something to my magic?"

In response, the sapphire began to glow and out shot a black beam. It stroke a tree, turning it to ash. Destiny took a frightened step back, trying her best to hide her fear and confusion.

W-w-what? H-h-how? She thought. Forget about Fillydelphia, I need to get to Ponyville. Princess Twilight Sparkle and her friends might be able to understand... Whatever this is! She gazed around at the trees, wondering how she would ever be able to get out of here. I'll try the spell again.

After chanting the spell three times, Destinyseer sighed and started walking. Hopefully there was a nearby village that could give her directions. In no time, she spotted a path leading to a town up ahead and ran quickly towards it.

    Had she found civilization?

I have, and it's exactly where I need to be.

She was in the Ponyville, home to a princess and the bearers of the Elements of Harmony. She smiled and trotted faster up the path. Destinyseer spotted structures the closer she got to Ponyville, some large and some small.

Once she stepped into the town, heads swerved around to look at her. Destinyseer simply nodded at them as she passed.

They must be very befuddled about my appearance. I would.

"I would love to help, Fluttershy." Destinyseer's ears shot up at the voice. She looked around frantically for the source.

    "Oh thank you, Twilight."

Twilight! That was why the voice sounded familiar. She leapt up onto a boulder to get a better view. She spotted the purple unicorn walking beside a yellow pegasus.

That's the Spirit of Kindness herself, Fluttershy! Destinyseer squealed, bounding over to the princess and Element of Kindness.

"Oh my gosh! I'm so glad I could finally meet you!"

    "Why hello, wh-"

"But before we get to know each other, I need your help with this." Destinyseer pointed a hoof at her necklace.

Twilight gasped, flaring her wings in surprise. "This can't be! I thought they were all lost!"

"You thought what was lost?" Destinyseer tilted her head.

Twilight turned to Fluttershy. "I'm sorry, Fluttershy, but we need to get to the castle. Tell the others to meet me there right away."

Fluttershy nodded, though she looked slightly confused. Waving goodbye, the pegasus took off into the air.

    "What's wrong?" Destinyseer asked.

"I'll explain on the way, now quickly! I have to tell Princess Celestia about this immediately."

    3. Chapter 2

    Chapter Two

The white ruby glowed intensely as Roadrunner picked it up with a hoof. He had been coming home from work when he saw a gem hidden behind a boulder. It disturbed him that the ruby was pale white instead of bright red.

Roadrunner was a turquoise blue earth pony with a dark green mane. He had two golden earrings and his cutie mark was a roadrunner. His eyes were a blue grey and he his mane was styled like a Mohawk.

Roadrunner jumped back as smoke flowed out of the jewel and wrapped around him. What was going on? Once the smoke cleared, the ruby was gone from his hoof.

Weird… he thought, peering at the ground to see if he had dropped it. He felt something around his neck as his eyes awkwardly traveled towards it. He shrieked, shaking himself from head to hoof. The ruby had transformed into an amulet with the white gem in the center. He looked down to see white vines around each hoof.

"This is… odd," Roadrunner muttered, examining his hooves. "But also cool." He looked around to see if anypony else had witnessed what had happened. Nope. He was alone in an alleyway.

Shrugging, Roadrunner trotted towards his house. It was in the center of the city, which was very busy and crowded, so he took the longer way.

Wait till the guys at work see this, he thought, jumping over a fence. Piper Beat is going to freak out. Though, this look isn't half bad.

Roadrunner was well aware that ponies were staring at him as he walked by. He ignored them and continued forward. The earth pony soon arrived at his little, cozy hut.

When he saw the light shinning faintly through the curtains covering the windows, he knew his sister, Tumbleweed, was home. Swinging open the front door with a smile plastered all over his face, Roadrunner hurried over to the living room couch and gave his big sister a gigantic hug.

Tumbleweed frowned in disgust, pushing him away. She, like her brother, was an earth pony and had a bright yellow coat. Her eyes were a very dark brown and her hair was the color of peaches. She had a tumbleweed cutie mark.

"How was work, Roady?" she asked, flipping through an issue of Wild West Gossip.

Roadrunner narrowed his eyes, plopping down beside her. "Don't call me Roady, and work was fine."

"Sure thing, Roady," Tumbleweed replied, smirking. She looked over at him and her eyes fell upon the amulet around his neck.

Catching her look, he said, "Cool, right? I found this as a jewel near Salon Creek, and when I touched it, it became this and I got vines around my hooves." He gestured towards his neck and then held up a hoof.

Tumbleweed frowned slightly. "That belongs to somebody, maybe you should give it to the mayor. He'll certainly find the owner."

Roadrunner sighed. He knew that his sister wouldn't let him keep it the moment he stepped through the door. He did not want to return in to its rightful owner, he wanted to show off the vines and jewel. Besides, finders keepers, right?

But, he nodded anyways and reached to grab the necklace. He tugged on the white ruby, and, without any warning, it electrocuted him. Roadrunner screamed, pulling hard as the ruby sent electricity jolting throughout his body. After twenty seconds, it died down.

"WHAT IN EQUESTRIA JUST HAPPENED?" he cried, shuddering.

Tumbleweed gaped at him before she burst out laughing. Glaring, Roadrunner bonked her on the head with his hoof.

"I'm sorry!" his sister apologized, giggling. "But that's what happens when you mess with other pony's belongings."
Pausing from his shuddering, Roadrunner bonked her on the head again. "Yes, ponies protect their items by putting lighting charms or spells on them."

    Tumbleweed shrugged. "It's a possibility."

"Wellthat's stupid. How am I supposed to take this off now?"

"I'm sure someone is Manehattan will know."

"Do we know anyone that can-" he was cut off by a scroll appearing on the coffee table.

Both siblings glanced at each other before Tumbleweed picked it up and unrolled it. Curious, Roadrunner leaned forward, anxious to read the scroll. They never got letters from anypony.

"What does it say? What does it say?"

"I'm about to read it," Tumbleweed said, hushing him with a 'shush'. "It says:

    Dear Roadrunner of Manehattan,

It is I, Princess Twilight Sparkle. I am requesting your presence at the Castle of Friendship, for we have matters to discuss. A coach of pegasi will soon arrive to take you to Ponyville. I know this is short notice, but I need you to come immediately. All of Equestria, and maybe even beyond, is at stake. For the sake of everypony, please accept this request.

    Sincerely,

    Princess Twilight Sparkle

P.S: Please do not bring anypony with you; I do not want anypony to start fretting about the new danger that awaits us all."

"Wow, sounds pretty serious," Roadrunner whispered, getting up to pace. "I wonder what is so important that she would request ME, of all ponies, to meet with her."

"I know right? I mean, usually her and her friends solve the problems in Equestria. What could be so big that her and her friends can't handle it?" Tumbleweed replied. "I hope you know- whether you like it or not- you're going, right?"

Roadrunner nodded. "Yes, I wouldn't want to jeopardize Equsetria's safety."

Suddenly, there was a knock at the door and a cough. Tumbleweed rushed over and answered it. A grey pegasus smiled at her before looking over her shoulder.

"We are here to take Mr. Roadrunner to Ponyville."

"That was fast," Roadrunner said, galloping over. "I'm here. Ready to leave."

"Then let us depart," the pegasus said, leading the earth pony towards the purple carriage parked in front of his house.

"See you later, Tumbleweed!" he called over his shoulder, getting into the carriage.

"Goodbye, Roadrunner, you better save Equestria or else I'm going to kill you!" Tumbleweed called, closing the front door.

"Let's go, stallions," the grey pegasus called as the carriage began to lift into the air.

Immediately, Roadrunner became nauseous. He had never been in the air before; he was an earth pony after all. He pushed down the peanut butter, jelly sandwich that was trying to make its way up towards his mouth.

This is going to be a long ride.

    4. Chapter 3

    Chapter Three

    "Lily Star!"

    "Over here!"

    "Come back!"

Lily Star squeezed through the crowd of fans, batting away ponies that got too close with her wings. This happened almost everyday. She would walk out of a shop and suddenly be surrounded by a crowd of ponies.

Okay, this is WAY too much attention, she thought. I gotta get out of here!

Opening her wings, she lifted up into the sky. The ponies below yelled "NO!" or "BUT THE INTERVIEW!" Somepony grabbed her by her tail, but she was able to shake them off.

Lily Star was a famous singer, whom was well known around Equestria so she barely ever got time to herself. The paparazzi were always knocking down her door.

Lily Star had a teal blue coat, and a long, curly, lavender mane and tail. The tip of both her tail and mane were light blue. Her eyes were the color of bright, red rubies mixed with a dark orange. Her cutie mark was a golden star with a black microphone beside it.

As she soared over Canterlot, she took a deep breath, and then exhaled. Even though she usually liked attention, she wanted a break once in a while from crazy fans. Suddenly, something caught her eye. She hovered in place, peering at a shiny object hidden behind a building and behind a dumpster.

What could that be? She thought curiously, slowly heading towards it.

"Interesting," Lily Star murmured, lifting the grey amethyst with her hoof. "It's grey..." She poked the jewel with her tail. "Looks real and feels real. Why would somepony leave something as valuable as this out in the open? Oh well, it's mine now."

She yelped when grey smoke came out of the jewel. She stumbled back, confused. What was happening? A few moments later, the smoke cleared and the gem was gone from her hoof. It was now a necklace around her neck.

Star Lily gasped, trying her best to pull it off. The necklace was beautiful, yes, but it didn't match her coat at all! It was no use though, it didn't budge. She paced in a circle, flapping her wings.

Ugh! Why won't this stupid thing get off? She thought, suddenly noticing the grey vines around her hooves. She yelped, tugging at them. Maybe, hopefully, someone in Canterlot will know how to remove them.

She took off into the sky once more, heading to her best friend's house.

The sunlight of the setting sun beat down on her as she nearly tangled with another pegasus. After yelling at the other pony to watch where he was flying, Lily Star dove down towards a dark green house with lovely, red rosebushes.

"I. NEED. HELP!" Lily Star cried, crashing through the unicorn's open window.
"Nice. To. See. You!" Lolly yelled back, popping her dark red head out of her hammock. "What's up, Star?"

She pointed to her neck, trotting over to her. "This-" she then held up her hoof higher. "–and this is what's up!"

"How beautiful," replied Lolly, admiring the shiny, grey necklace. "Where'd you get it? Was it from a fan?"

"As much as it pains me not to talk about my recent fan gifts, we must put it aside for now. Like I said before; I need your help. This necklace won't come off. Neither will these vines."

Lolly held the necklace up with her hoof and studied it. "I've never seen this before," she commented. "How about you talk to Princess Celestia? I'm sure she can help with a magic spell."

"Princess Celestia is not available today; she's in Fillydelphia trying to do who knows what."

    "How about Princess Luna?"

    "She's with her."

Lolly tapped her chin, frowning slightly. "Princess Twilight Sparkle knows a lot about magical talismans."

Princess Twilight Sparkle! Why didn't I think of her? She thought as she stared internally at her necklace. She then smiled and nodded her head.

"Thanks!" Lily Star chirped, flying out the window. "Your help was deeply appreciated!"

"I know," Lolly whispered before diving back into her peaceful slumber.

To the train station! Lily Star thought, beating her wings as fast as possible. She had a show tomorrow morning and she did not plan on missing it. Oh, but wait! Ponies will recognize me if I go on the train. I'm going to need that disguise Stitches made for me a few weeks ago.

She turned around and flew to her mansion instead. Lily Star then came to a halt. My mansion is all the way on the other side of Canterlot! By the time I get there, put on my disguise, and then fly back to the train station, it'll already be past midnight! And if I don't get that disguise, I'll be mobbed by crazed fans. She huffed, floating down onto a building's roof.

"Oh, if only I could teleport," she murmured, pacing. Suddenly, just like before, grey smoke swirled out of her amulet. The smoke was thick that she couldn't see two feet in front of her. She felt like she was being sucked into a black hole and then dumped out. Again, after a few moments, the smoke disappeared.

Lily Star blinked, looking around. She gasped in surprise, stumbling back. She was in her bedroom.

B-but… HOW?! I'm not a unicorn, I can't do magic. She glanced down at the necklace lying innocently against her neck. Is this thing cursed with-

But before she could finish her thought, a scroll appeared on her bed. Fan mail? She picked it up and quickly read it over. Her eyes widened at the words written across the paper.

Princess Twilight Sparkle wanted to meet with her about some crisis? But why? Did it have something to do with the jewel she had found?

Well, there's only one way to find out.

"STITCHES, CANCEL ALL MY CONCERTS, INVERVIEWS, AND APPOINTMENTS, I'M GOING TO PONYVILLE!"
