Corruptible

A/N: A small side project. Updates will be in a period of every two weeks enjoy.

Summary:

Twilight knew she needed to stop Nightmare Moon, but what she didn't know was all the knowledge Nightmare Moon had about her mentor and friends. Inspired by The Element of Corruption by Fyronarion.

Twilight went to face Nightmare Moon, she didn't want her new friends getting hurt so she went alone. As she entered the Castle, she could feel Nightmare Moon's presence watching her, studying her. She shuddered at the feeling and continued on, looking for the mare of darkness. Her new friends suddenly rushed in and she gasped in surprise,

"Girls what are you doing here, this is dangerous," she said,

"We couldn't let you face Nightmare Moon alone, darling," Rarity said, "so we decided to come help,"

"Thank you," she said, her confidence boosted tenfold. They entered a long hallway to see Nightmare Moon herself at the end,

"Please stop this sentimental nonsense," Nightmare Moon said, annoyed, "I learned you can't trust even your own siblings 1000 years ago,"

Twilight lit up her horn and said,

"It's over Nightmare Moon, the night will end, we're bringing daytime back,"

"Oh yes, Twilight Sparkle," Nightmare Moon said, "my sisters next plaything. But you are different, you are the element of magic. Your ordinary magical abilities are powerful enough but fuelled by the element of magic, you would be undefeatable,"

Twilight lowered the power in her horn,

"What are you saying?" She asked, unsure. Rainbow Dash interrupted,

"Twilight can't you see she's toying with you, just whoop her flank so we can get out of here,"

Twilight turned her head towards Rainbow but said,

"Continue," to Nightmare Moon,

"Only in private, and I know things about Princess Celestia and your friends that you would not believe, I've been studying you over 1000 years. I know a lot,"

Twilight was stuck between what to do, she could get it over with and defeat Nightmare Moon or she could hear her out, in private. Before she could make her decision, Nightmare Moon's horn lit up in a blue aura and she uttered an ancient spell. Twilight heard a creaking, cracking sound. Twilight turned around to see all her friends were turned into stone statues,

"CHANGE THEM BACK!" She yelled at Nightmare who replied,

"Oh don't worry, that's only temporary. Now listen to me, Twilight Sparkle,"

Twilight gulped and said, "okay,"

Nightmare Moon looked pleased and said, "My sister, Princess Celestia has an awful habit of using ponies for a while and then completely forgetting about them. She even partly did this to me. She would make sure she would get what she wanted and if they didn't want to do what she said, she would never help them again. During mine and her rule, she would often use me to cover her own financial and political problems, then blame me face to face for doing it anyway when she knew it was her. She then decided to take on pupils to train in magical arts to get what she wanted quicker, she used so many innocent ponies this way, including one who's now in jail,"

"You're lying," Twilight said, confused. Why would Princess Celestia do such things?

"I am not," Nightmare Moon said then continued, "Celestia then decided to look into the future to see and hunt down the best ponies to train and use. She found you. She made sure you two would cross paths and you would have your magical overflow in your entrance exam so she could use you do defeat me and any others seeking to destroy her. She sent you to Ponyville as she knew you would meet all your 'friends' who are all in league with Celestia and her schemes," Nightmare Moon explained.

Twilight wanted to deny it, she was so confused. She broke down, sobbing and looked at the statues of her friends in hatred. Celestia used everyone to get her way.

Nightmare Moon saw her confusion and knew this was the time to break her, to get her to join her in her efforts to dethrone Celestia. She said,

"I can help you. I have been part of Celestia's schemes too and I know how it feels to be a puppet under her control. If you join me, we can overthrow that demon and restore true harmony to Equestria. Your so called friends only ever talked to you because of your status I. Canterlot. Remember what Rarity said about being so happy about you having a status in Canterlot and saying you were going to be great friends talking about it? Such a great friend, all your friends only followed you because they knew of your status,"

"You're lying," Twilight said through gasps and sobs,

"I never lie," Nightmare Moon said, "I stand firm in belief that false words are true evil."

Twilight was next to crying and in a mental battle with herself;

They only liked you for your status…

Shut up, they're your friends…

They wouldn't be if she was just a commoner…

Yes they would…

I doubt they'd even talk to her…

Twilight looked at her 'friends', burning and bristling with anger. Nightmare Moon held out her hoof,

"Join me and we can stop Celestia's tyranny and rule Equestria fairly, together!"

Twilight knew what the right decision was now, she knew who the real problem was. She grabbed ahold of Nightmare Moon's hoof and a blue cloud passed from Nightmare Moon's horn into Twilight's. Twilight underwent a shocking transformation. She turned blackish purple and gained a red chest plate with the starburst from her cutie mark engraved on the middle. She wore red shoes and her mane turned a purple shade with pink swirls, and where the stripe was down the middle, had turned black and white. Her element, now on her head, changed colours to red. Her eyes turned into like Nightmare Moon's, except they were purple not blue. She grew a tiny bit. Her mane and tail had grown and both had stars twinkling in them. Nightmare Moon said,

"You are now my apprentice, Twilight Sparkle. I will teach you the ways of magic and you obey me alone. Prove your loyalty to me,"

"I will do anything, mistress," Twilight said,minister checking out her new body,

"Anything… Hmmm," Nightmare Moon thought then said, "kill one of your false friends, this will be hard for you but they never liked you anyway, they only were around you for your status, pay them back,"

Twilight gulped and Nightmare said, "use your magic,"

She complied, activating her horn and approaching Pinkie Pie, who was still petrified in stone. As Twilight did her business with Pinkie Pie, Nightmare Moon thought to herself,

'With the most powerful element on my side, taking down Celestia alone should be easy but she has an army of guards. Good thing I know someone with an army too. Twilight will be the best apprentice ever.'

Twilight finished her job and asked Nightmare Moon,

"did I do well, mistress?"

"yes," Nightmare Moon replied, "and call me Moon, not mistress. We want to be friends, correct?"

"yes Mis-I mean Moon," Twilight said,

"good, your new name is Nightmare Twilight, you are my apprentice and are 100% loyal to me alone,"

"yes Moon," Nightmare Twilight said happily. Nightmare Moon was so much nicer then she'd originally thought,

"what are we doing next, Moon?" Asked Nightmare Twilight,

"we are visiting and old ally and friend of mine," Nightmare Moon replied. She had fully convinced Twilight to join her without brainwashing her. She was incredible.

Chapter 2

NIGHTMARE TWILIGHT POV

My new mentor, Moon, flashed me one of her rare smiles and says,

"First we should deal with those old 'friends' of yours,"

"They are not my friends!" I say, furious with the way Celestia used me and the fact that my so called 'friends' only liked me because of my status in Canterlot.

"Good," Moon said and her horn lit up in a magical aura. There was a mighty cracking sound and I walked into the shadows, unseen. Rainbow Dash was the first to speak,

"Hurry up Twil-" she hesitated as she saw I was missing,

"What the hay did you do to Twilight?" Applejack asked Nightmare Moon,

"Oh I told her the truth," she said,

"She did," I confirmed and walked out of the shadows. They all gasped as they saw me.

"That doesn't explain where Pinkie Pie got to," Rainbow Dash said. Nightmare Moon laughed evilly,

"Oh yes, the element of laughter is dead. My faithful new student and princess of the nightmare forces killed her to prove her loyalty to me," my mentor said,

"Twilight, how could you?" Asked Applejack, feeling betrayed,

"You were never my friends," I said, "you all only ever liked me for my status in Canterlot. You in particular, Rarity,"

As soon as I finished, Moon's horn lit up and she teleported them all back to Ponyville. All apart from Rarity, who had shut her eyes in fear.

"Twilight please, you have to stop this," she begged but I said,

"My name is Nightmare Twilight to you, weakling. Why didn't you send her back, Moon?"

Moon replied, "because unicorns and alicorns are superior to other pony races. She has potential that I am not willing to waste,"

"Oh no," Rarity said, "I will not become some horrific monster like you,"

"I never said you had a choice," Nightmare Moon said and lowered her horn towards Rarity, who screamed as blue smoke floated into her as well. She screamed again for a split second as she grew to become part of the nightmare forces as well. She grew taller and her skin darkened. She gained golden armor, similar to that of Nightmare Moon's but more aesthetically pleasing. Her hair grew to immense lengths and her horn too. She stood up in her new golden boots and said,

"What have you done to me!?"

"You look beautiful, don't you like it?" Said Nightmare Moon,

"Well, I suppose it's unique in style," Rarity said, confused as to what to think,

"I think your friends were holding you back from realising your true potential," Nightmare Moon said,

"Really?" Rarity asked, shocked,

"Oh yes," Moon confirmed, "I've been watching you and I realised that your friends don't want you to become a big fashion hit for their own selfish reasons," Nightmare Moon said,

"I suppose they have been rather distracting," Rarity agreed,

"If you join me, I can assure you will have a very high fashion line and you will be royalty, all you have to do is help me and my student defeat your selfish 'friends' and the lying princess, Celestia,"

Rarity was sure on what to do next, she always wanted to be royalty, she secretly thought her friends were holding her back anyway. She accepted Nightmare Moon's offer.

"I accept your offer," Rarity said and Nightmare Moon replied,

"Good, now Nightmare Twilight and Nightmare Rarity, we leave for the badlands now,"

We left by long range teleporting, we appeared in front of a massive cave system, guarded by two armoured creatures that looked like ponies but were black and their legs were full of holes,

"State your business," one asked,

"We're here for an audience with Queen Chrysalis," Nightmare Moon stated,

"No one can just come for an audience with the queen," the other stated, "now get lost!"

Nightmare Moon beckoned to Nightmare Twilight and Nightmare Rarity and they both attacked one guard each.

"Now will you let us in?" asked Nightmare Rarity sweetly,

"Yes," said the guard and escorted them through the cave system to a set of double doors. The doors were surrounded in a green aura and flung open. The Queen of the Changelings was waiting on the other side and her eyes widened when she saw who was there,

"Moon!" She said excitedly,

"Chryssie!" Moon said with an equal amount of excitement and they embraced each other.

"You haven't met my two students, this is Nightmare Twilight and Nightmare Rarity," said Nightmare Moon, "now listen, I need a favour. Can we work together to overthrow Celestia? I need an army,"

"Sure, anything for you, Moon," Chrysalis said.

"Excellent. I will see you soon," said Nightmare Moon and we left, back to the castle. When we arrived back, Nightmare Moon said,

"Okay, Twilight, you need proper battle armor, take off that useless breastplate and crown and I will get you some proper armor. We need everyone in top form when we attack. I took off my armour and Moon handed me better armour, styled like hers and Nightmare Rarity's except it was Crimson like my previous armour. I put it on and Nightmare Rarity clapped her hooves in excitement,

"Oh this is so much fun," she said, "are we going to train our offensive magic now?"

"Yes," replied Nightmare Moon.

CELESTIA POV

I was worried, I thought that Twilight should've defeated Nightmare Moon by now, that's what she was meant to do. A group of 3 ponies rushed in, I recognised them as Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy and Applejack,

"Princess Celestia, Twilight's joined Nightmare Moon!" Rainbow Dash said,

"WHAT?" I roared,

"It's true, she joined her and she killed Pinkie Pie," Applejack stated in her country twang, sorrow evident in her voice,"

"Umm, Rarity was also left with them, who knows what they've done to her," Fluttershy said,

"Oh sister of mine, you will regret this dearly," I muttered darkly and said,

"Where are they currently located?"

"In your old castle," said Rainbow,

"Watch out, Nightmare Moon, the dawn will triumph,"

A/N: And chapter two of this dark story is finished. I know you all hate me for making Twilight and Rarity evil but trust me, I have some very interesting things planned for this.

Chapter 3

CELESTIA POV

"Ready the guards, Captain Shining Armour. We leave to my old castle in the Everfree Forest to take down Nightmare Moon ourselves. But Shining, I must warn you, your sister, Twilight, has joined Nightmare, are you still willing to fight?" I asked my Captain.

"Anything for you, Princess Celestia," He said, but I noticed his hesitation.

"Good, gather up all your men, let's make this quick." I finished.

"Yes Princess Celestia," He said and briskly walked out of the room, I leaned back on my throne before getting up and finding my battle armour.

NIGHTMARE MOON POV

I called for the Nightmare Forces to come to me, and they did, my armies of darkness, my two students and the changelings, we were sure to win against Celestia and her pathetic guards. I had another plan though, another ally to help in my conquest.

It was rather easy to break Rarity onto my side, after discovering her 'friends' sabotages to stop her from leaving Ponyville, she turned to our side rather quickly.

Twilight was a different matter. She did want to be like me, but her love for Celestia was slowing her. My fiendish sister, who has been brainwashing Equestria for hundreds of years. She would no doubt come, to fight me and attempt to defeat me. But not this time. Without the Elements Of Harmony, she is powerless to stop me and the night will triumph against her.

Twilight and Rarity were in the sparring room, being trained in hoof to hoof combat by Chryssie's toughest warriors. I was teaching them offensive magic along with a few lessons with Chryssie.

Chryssie and I were very old friends. When I first ruled, we conquered most of Equus together and she helped me forge the 10 hidden nightmare weapons. The nightmare weapons are each unique and designed to be able to kill immortals. They were only ever used once against Celestia, and now they are lost throughout all of Equus. Rumour has it that a powerful Diamond Dog clan have one, and Emperor Hajj of the Griffin Empire has a few, along with Minotauria and Saddle Arabia. Celestia probably had a few as well.

I needed to find them, I needed allies. Sure, the changelings are good allies but if I can get my hooves on the nightmare weapons, nopony will stop me.

Twilight and Rarity walked in,

"Moon, when will we overthrow Equestria?" Twilight asked me, my recently corrupted student looking up at me with curious eyes,

"Soon my students, soon," I said and Rarity said,

"I can sense Celestia and her army is coming soon, I believe it's time to call for the changelings."

"As can I," Twilight said.

"My students, I do not believe you are ready to go up against your 'friends' quite yet, oh, and Twilight, you didn't actually kill Pinkie Pie, you killed a cloned version of her whilst the real one was teleported back to her home by myself," I told them, they were clearly disappointed.

"But, since I'm a good teacher, I'm willing to let you fight as long as you don't jump sides," I finished, they quickly cheered up.

"I wouldn't betray you, you showed me the real truth," Twilight said to me.

Rarity looked slightly uncomfortable but a quick scan of her mind showed that she had no plans on betraying me.

"Twilight, Rarity, today we claim Ponyville as our own!" I said and they cheered. As an afterthought, I entered their minds and altered them slightly, making them that tad more loyal to me. Their eyes glazed over for a second then back to normal as my spell took hold, giving a subtle chant of

'Obey Nightmare Moon, Nightmare Moon is your mistress, Nightmare Moon is your friend,'

Constantly repeating in the back of their minds, influencing them. Of course, it wasn't that strong, I still wanted them to follow pretty much of their own will, I just wanted to make sure they would never betray me, and this would ensure they would not be able to use the elements, if they ever got them, against me.

Chryssie arrived at the castle with a vast army of changeling warriors, all in armour, ready for battle. Combined with my Shadow Forces, our army was in the millions.

CELESTIA POV

I called for an urgent diplomatic conference with Emperor Hajj. As usual, he arrived rather quickly and said,

"what is the meaning of this eternal nighttime, Princess Celestia?"

"Nightmare Moon has returned and I need you for an alliance to defeat her," I said desperately at him.

"No," he said,

"WHAT!?" I roared angrily,

"I refuse to endanger my Griffins in a pony war," he said, "and if you actually paid attention to your sister, she wouldn't have become Nightmare Moon anyway," he said and turned around to leave. That was when he pushed me over the top. I magically started to control him mentally, making him into my slave, my puppet.

"Now," I said to my hypnotised griffin emperor, "would you kindly go gather your armies for Mistress Celestia?"

"Yes my mistress," He said in a drone and left the palace.

An hour later he returned with the might of the griffin army, in his hypnotised state of mind. I commanded him,

"Hajj, Your army will accompany mine to Ponyville. We fight there,"

"Yes Mistress Celestia," He droned.

NIGHTMARE MOON POV

"Chryssie, Bring your army to Ponyville, we capture that town first." I said, "Celestia should want to meet us in battle, so I will face her and you hold off her army with my students."

Chrysalis smiled and asked,

"I'm sure I could bring other changeling hives onto our side, how about I contact them?"

"No time," I said, "Twilight, Rarity, Chrysalis, we leave now."

We marched out the castle with our humongous army. My students, Chrysalis and I at the head. We were ready.

IN THE CANTERLOT STATUE GARDEN

In the statue, nopony noticed the statue of Discord start to crack and shake. Soon, the master of chaos would return and Equestria would fall. The disembodied voice of Discord cackled in excitement of his release…

NIGHTMARE MOON POV

Ponyville was in a state of terror ever since I first showed up to their 'Worship Celestia Day' otherwise known as the Summer Sun Celebration. It amazes me to think that my sister had created an entire day just to show off how amazing she was.

This wasn't the first time I've been to Ponyville, the first time was back before I was banished, during Celestia and My rule. Of course, back then the settlement was much smaller but not all that much…

1124 YEARS AGO

"We are in debt as Princess Luna spent all our money buying armour and weapons for her night guard!" Celestia yelled out the 'reason' why she needed tax. The real reason, she needed money for her royal spa to be built. She always blamed everything on me, Luna this or Luna that. She often collected unnecessary tax and used too many ponies. I remember one, Limeheart, I believe she was called, she was taken in by Celestia but when she called her a tyrant for her methods of personal gain, Celestia threw her in prison because she

'Took an attempt to kill her.'

Maybe, we need a new ruler, maybe there should only be one Princess of Equestria…

BACK TO THE PRESENT TIME

I shook my head, attempting to clear the memory. Ponyville looked deserted, but I could sense that everypony had locked themselves indoor.

"Citizens of Ponyville, come out and bow to your new Queen!" I yelled out and one by one they left their homes and kneeled before me.

"Captain Stormwave," I asked for the Captain of my Shadow Forces, "take a survey of all ponies who look able bodied to fight. Them report back to me,"

"Yes my Queen," he said, his sharp teeth glinting in the dark of my eternal night.

"I'm going to connect you to the hive mind so we can plan without anyone overhearing," Chryssie said to us and we all agreed.

I felt a tendril of something enter my mind and it connected to something, which I assume linked me to the mind.

"My Queen!" Captain Stormwave yelled out to me urgently so I teleported to his side,

"What is it, Captain?"

"Solar Guards, Griffins and Celestia!" He cried out, pointing towards my sister and her army, who were descending from Canterlot.

"Citizens of Ponyville, go somewhere safe and do not come out until the fighting has ceased!" I commanded and they all started to clear out until the streets were deserted once again. I was glad that they were listening to me.

When I looked up at Celestia's army, I noticed something off about the Emperor Griffin, he seemed dazed, I don't really know how to put it but his eyes were glazed over and he was flying slightly wobbly as if in a trance.

In a trance…

Oh sister of mine, you didn't, did you?

I was disgusted at my sisters use of hypnotism on the Emperor, no doubt he didn't want his Griffins to fight so Celestia forced her way into his mind and made him too.

Celestia and her army landed down the street we were on.

'Captain Carapax," I heard Chryssie call for her Captain in the hive mind, 'Attack the Griffin forces from the west with half our forces, the other half, we attack from the east.'

"Attack head on, Stormwave!" I commanded then flew to meet my sister in battle. Nightmare Twilight and Rarity were glaring at Celestia and then took on the Royal Guard on the front lines.

CARAPAX POV

I led our forces round sneakily, keeping quiet. Our black chitin blended in well with the eternal night, so we were almost impossible to see as we snuck round to the Griffin Army. Suddenly with a mighty roar, we charged the Griffins, who looked shocked then charged right back at us. We collided and and started to slash and hack at each other. They were better warriors but we had magic on our side, so shields were up instantaneously to protect the weakest parts. I soon spotted out the Griffin Captain and fought my way over to him.

He looked almost as battle scarred as myself. My chitin was scratched and dented in some places, multiple burn marks and a slightly broken horn.

"I'm going to break that horn of yours off," he growled at me, so I replied,

"You can try, or are you too chicken?" I smirked and he lunged at me with his shortsword,

"You're going to pay for that, bug," he snarled.

"Or am I?" I asked as I shaved off a few of his feathers and cut into his skin lightly with a well aimed swipe of my dagger, because my spear was useless in hand to hand close up combat.

He grunted and took another lunge at me but his sword bounced off my chitin leaving a slight scratch, it didn't hurt.

STORMWAVE POV

The most exhilarating part of a battle is always the first charge. Looking into your opponents eyes and choosing which way to slice them down with your shark tooth sword. The rush of adrenaline you get as you are about to swing and the satisfactory sound of your blade hitting flesh. Maybe I'm just a battle junkie.

I swung and took out the guard who foolishly tried to take me on and I soon found myself face to face with none other then Captain Shining Armour.

"Back off, scum," he said to me but I replied,

"Queen Nightmare Moon offers you a choice, be with your sister and accept the darkness no become one with the Shadow Forces, or die. Simple,"

"I would rather die then be a cowardly traitor," he said, but I noticed the pause before he said that and the uncertainty in his eyes.

"So be it," I said and we clashed into a fight, our soldiers and guards ceasing to fight and forming a circle around us as an arena to fight in.

NIGHTMARE MOON POV

"Release the Griffin Emperor from your spell!" I yelled at Celestia but she said,

"You will pay for this embarrassment, sister!"

"We will see who is the embarrassment to Equestria when I rule!" I yelled, "no more unfair tax, no more lying, no more using ponies and no more CELESTIA!"
