Chapter 1: Even the Changeling needs a little love

Even the Changeling needs a little love

A/N: Helluu, so a little little background info for you; I am not a hardcore mlp fan and I wouldn't say I'm much into shipping either. However, I stumbled across My Little Pony accidentally (little cousins, eh?) and managed to get a little sucked into it. I began wondering about Chryslestia after 'A Canterlot Wedding' and since have grown to like this ship. I've researched some stories based on the ship itself, and not found that many. And after a sleepless night of many ideas concerning the two I've managed to come up with this. Its still a work in progress so bare with me. The story is F/F, so please don't read if it may offend you in any way. The rating may or may not go up, depending on how the story unravels. The story is a little AU with my own ideas intertwined within, but I hope to do my best explaining any references that aren't in the show. But anyway, enjoy!

Celestia sat at the head of the table, head propped up on her hoof. It was yet another council session, and once again it was going no where. The topic turned to alliances-or love, or both. Celestia couldn't tell with the amount of attention she was paying. All she was aware of was that Twilight and Candence were in some form of debate, while Luna and Discord watched on. It wasn't much like her not to be concerned with the issues arising in her Kingdom, yet she couldn't seem to help it today.

The day marked exactly a year since the changeling invasion, and Celestia hadn't heard from the Queen since. She often questioned what happened to the Queen and her children, but she couldn't quite bring herself to writing to Chrysalis...

The two young mares trotted happily among the meadow in the setting sun. The black coated mare nuzzled her companion lovingly, taking in her scent; 'strawberries, mmm...no wonder what she had for lunch'.

"Chrysalis..." Celestia whispered as her companion nipped at her neck.

"Hmmm?" Chrysalis then lightly pushed her friend over with a mischievous grin, until she lay among the tall grass looking up lovingly at the other mare.

Celestia wrapped her hooves around Chrysalis' neck and pulled her closer, eventually pulling her into a kiss and down to the ground on top of her. The changeling broke the kiss gazing at her lover, Celestia lingering onto their intimate exchange a little while longer; 'its all about the precious little moments'.

"You are beyond beautiful, my love." Chrysalis breathed out, just about, as Celestia's magenta eyes glanced into Chrysalis' emerald ones. Celestia couldn't imagine herself growing tired of those breathtaking orbs.

"I love you." Was all Celestia managed to choke out. Chrysalis still on top of Celestia, dipped her head down and captured her lover's lips.

"Celestia!" Luna's demanding voice finally came through to her, snapping her out of long lost memories; how things have changed. She was left very much confused at the changeling attack, it didn't seem like Chrysalis to do such a thing.

"Yes, beloved sister?" Celestia managed to croak out after clearing her throat and shifting in her chair.

""We're wondering if you're alright, dear sister, you seem a bit flushed." Luna explained. Celestia's eyes immediately widened, but she caught herself just in time, though it didn't help the growing blush much. She swallowed the lump in her throat before answering.

No.

"Yes, quite, thank you. Now where were we?" Celestia regained her "queenly" posture, as Luna liked to call it.

"Your highness?" Jene, one of the captains in the royal guard popped his head through one leaf of the giant doors, "I am aware we are not to disturb council meetings, your highnesses, and Sir, but I come with an urgent message."

"Come in, please." Celestia gestured for the guard to hand her the letter he held with his magic, blue glowing from his horn. He entered, placing the letter into the alicorn's hooves as she gestured.

Celestia nit her eyebrows together as she stared at the stamp on the letter. Black wax, with insect wings imprinted in green; changeling. The princess almost ripped the letter open, removing the note from the envelope.

"The room filled with silence, watching their monarch as a variety of expressions crossed her features, her eyes scanning through the letter. Her complexion no longer showed signs of blush, however she did grow uncomfortably pale. Luna exchanged looks with Discord, who shrugged smirking at the Night Princess. Luna turned back to her sister, and was about to speak, but Discord beat her to it.

"Celestia dear, you're almost burning holes through the paper, what does it say?" Discord questioned.

Celestia tried to find words to explain, but her dry throat made it almost impossible for her to form any words.

"It...th-the Changelling queen, and princesses will be arriving in Equestria in less than 3 hours to discuss the alliance." Celestia's gaze didn't leave the letter in her hooves.

"Princesses?" Twilight asked her monarch "does that mean Chrysalis has had heirs?" the question left an unwelcome stinging in Celestia's heart.

The Princess sighed, closing her eyes and trying to put together all the thoughts rushing through her mind. She had to explain this somehow. But how?

"Jene, please see to it that we have suitable accommodation for our visitors." Celestia commanded.

"Of course, your highness." the stallion left the room filled with complete silence.

"I don't think so, my faithful student...you see, a long time ago; long before your time, I knew Chrysalis. Princess Chrysalis. She had an older sister, and their mother, was the Queen of all hives spread among the two Kingdoms. I don't have an explanation for why they are all apparently alive, considering, well a rumour that all three were defeated by Sombra's army, tortured and then left for dead..." Celestia's chest began to feel tighter but she ignored the growing emotions inside of her "...but then later Chrysalis invaded Equestria and it confused me, because, well, it wasn't the same mare I knew, but then again 200 years is sure to change anypony. There has to be an explanation for that as well as their sudden arrival. But please, I may be wrong. It may be that Chrysalis survived and produced heirs..." Celestia trailed off, not believing her own words.

"Well, we're sure to find out, aren't we? Now excuse me, your imperial highnesses, but I do need to get ready for this arrival, I hope it gets saucy, and I can't look scruffy for that now can I?" Discord teleported elsewhere leaving the four princesses alone. An uneasy tension filled the air as Cadence managed to work up the courage to speak up.

"Auntie, may I ask why you are so calm about the arrival of this Queen and her daughters? Have you forgotten what-"

"I haven't." Celestia spat, sharper than intended, "But we all need answers, my dear niece, especially you. So please, if you will, try to be as civilised as possible, no matter what we may encounter." The monarch softened her tone, briefly glancing at Cadence.

"Cel-"

"I'm fine, Luna. The three of you too should get ready, we don't know what to expect." Celestia regretted her tone, but made it clear she didn't want to be questioned, her eyes were focused on the gardens that lay outside the window.

The three nodded exchanging glances, then leaving the Sun Princess with her thoughts.
