Chapter 1: 1. Royal Training, and Secrets

Load Full Story Next Chapter

Author's Note: It is a sequel to Dark Equestria. I could make the stories into series- not counting "The New Lunar Republic," "Pinkamena the Cupcake Killer," and "My Little Mane Six." By the way, the pairing may start off as fluff at first, and may turn more intimate in the later chapters. Enjoy the story!

Twilight's P.O.V

I am waken up by the shining of the sun. The sun ray shines through the window, signaling me to wake up to start my training. My friends walk into the room, and they seem a bit tired, yet happy. "Good morning," Rarity said, "We may go home today. The training may take some of your time, so we wouldn't see each other as much. You may be immortal, but it doesn't change our friendship one bit."

"She is right. We were a bit in denial at first, but we are accepting the fact," Apple Jack said.

"I must tend to the animals," Fluttershy quickly said as she dashes out of the room.

"I'm sure the burden of the duties will be heavy at first," Rainbow Dash said.

"We could prepare for the very first Winter Moon Celebration when you have time," Pinkie Pie said with excitement as Celestia enters the room.

I climb out of my bed, and then I smile at my former mentor. "Ready to start your training?" Celestia asked.

"Would I have to wake up early to raise the sun?" I asked.

"Not always. Colder seasons mean later sun rises."

"Do warmer seasons mean earlier sun rises?"

"Of course, Twilight Sparkle. The Dawn Court shall begin soon. There will be suitors, and also some ponies that may want to speak with you. Now, you girls, you must go home so that Twilight Sparkle can have time to train."

"Of course," My friends said in response as they walk out of the room as quick as they can.

I follow Celestia onto the castle's balcony, and she smiles at me. "You will make the sun set tonight. I have rose the sun for you because I decided to let you sleep for a while. As the new Sun Princess, you will go to bed a few hours after lowering the sun. The ideal bedtime for you is nine o'clock," She said.

"I was used to staying up late and sleeping in," I replied.

"Your sleep schedule is to be changed. Depending on the season, you would have the duty to either rise or lower the sun. The months are colder now, so the sun may set a bit earlier than it does in the warmer months."

"What about being immortal? How does it feel to lose a mortal friend to death from natural causes like aging or being ill?"

"It usually is a tragic time, but alicorns who are young cry more than the older ones. The older ones are generally stoic and calm, though they may want to be playful from time to time."

I nod, and then we walk to the throne room a minute later. I notice a few ponies entering the throne room. "Go sit upon the throne," Celestia said.

I sit on the throne, and a few stallions walk up to me. They bow down, and I smile. "You don't need to bow down. I'm not a ruler yet," I said.

"You are becoming a ruler, though. You get to rule alongside Luna," Celestia reminded me.

I hold out my hoof to let the stallion kiss my hoof. "I am from Prance, and they call me Prince Toulouse. I am looking for a maiden to marry," The stallion said.

He has a light blue coat, and his mane is copper brown. He has a throne chair for a cutie mark, with a rose in the center. He must be looking for love. A few of the mares are with him- and they are wearing fancy capes. "Are they your sisters or something?" I asked.

"They're mares in waiting," Toulouse said.

"You know... Rarity would like you, and she's also related to royalty. She deserves to be your wife," I said.

Rarity appears out of the blue, and gazes at the stallion. She starts blushing as she giggles shyly. "A handsome prince?" She asked.

"Are you Rarity?" Toulouse asked.

"Of course. What is your name?" Rarity asked him.

"My name is Toulouse, and I am the prince of Prance."

"The fancy country filled with love, and not to mention that beautiful city of lights?"

"Of course. We will talk more."

I sigh with relief. At least he isn't going to force me to marry him. I mean, I am still not sure if I can commit to a rushed relationship. Flash Sentry appears before me, and bows politely. He isn't wearing armor. "Why aren't you wearing armor today, Flash?" I asked.

"Princess Twilight Sparkle, I would love to court with you," He said.

"Excuse me, but I am immortal because of my alicorn ascension a few years back."

"That princess shall be mine!" A male voice shouted.

A crazy stallion rushes through the crowd, and approaches me in less than a second. "Are you stalking me?" I asked.

"You never wanted me to marry you, so how about we get married today?! I heard great news about you. You are so beautiful, and... MARRY ME!" He said.

He rushes into my face, as if to kiss me. I block the kiss with a magical force field, and the stallion seems more frustrated than ever. "How do I deal with stalkers?" I asked myself.

"Tell the guards to take him away," Celestia instructed, "Being stalked and being forced into a marriage without permission is not a pleasant experience."

"Guards, take him to prison!" I shouted loud enough for the guards to hear.

I swear, this stallion is going to molest me or something. I don't know what's going on in his mind- he must be like a creep to all the beautiful mares. The guards drag the stallion out of the throne room, and then I calm down a minute later. My heart is still beating fast. "I didn't ask to be stalked. He looks as if he's going to molest me," I said, "Is this a common occurrence for rulers?"

"It is not a common occurrence for them, but sometimes it also happens to other celebrities like actors and singers. That's what you should know- it rarely happens. But, if a pony threatens your safety and wouldn't stop, that is when you should get the guards," Celestia replied.

"You know there's also cases of serial-"

"Don't worry about what could happen. I know you worry a lot, but you must calm your fears and put up a brave front. That way, the bad ponies will be less likely to hurt you."

"But, what about when I get bullied one time as a little filly?"

"The principal did take action back then, though the bullies would deserve a harsh punishment for hurting you. Sometimes you have to stand up for yourself."

We stop speaking, and the ponies have left. "The Dawn Court has ended. Now it's time for other duties," Celestia concluded.

The stallion's craziness is still deep in my thoughts. The thought of him sends chills up and down my spine. I shudder for a slight second. A few ponies walk in a minute later. "Our brother has gone missing. He was playing hide and seek with his friends in the Everfree Forest, and he never came out for a few days. We are getting real worried for his safety," The purple mare with the green mane said.

"We request that you send out search parties," The younger mare with the blue mane said.

"Okay. Well, I'm not sure how a ruler can deal with missing pony cases. I will contact the town police and tell them to search for your brother," I said, "How old is he?"

"He's of kindergarten age."

A few minutes later, they leave, and then Celestia starts speaking to me once again. "We will take a break for now," She said.

"Okay," I replied.

"Hopefully the lunch will take your mind off that crazy stallion."

We enter the dining room, and then we eat lunch quickly. It seems to be almost afternoon, so it could have been a late lunch- sort of. As I look out the window, I think about Princess Luna. She is so beautiful, and she blends in well with the night sky. Only some ponies love her night, but the others still don't. To me, she is more than just a friend...

I love the night, and Luna is just as lovely as the magnificent night sky. I suddenly imagine slowly kissing her on the lips, and then I blush. I shake my head to get out of the day dream. "Were you daydreaming?" Celestia asked.

"Yes," I replied as I blush even more, "It's about a special somepony who is not like the others..."

"Are you thinking about Discord, perhaps?"

"No. It's about a dark blue mare."

"My sister?"

"Maybe."

"But, you are going to rule with her! Never will she have to date a pony of the same sex! She would not want to be unappreciated ever again, Twilight... She has a few coltfriends in the past, but never a marefriend. And if co-rulers ever want to fall in love, they must be the opposite genders, not the same gender!"

"Are you saying that she doesn't want to fall in love with me?"

"No. I think she sees you as just a friend."

When I leave the dining room a bit later, I replay Celestia's words over and over in my head. Is she telling the truth, or is she just a bit protective towards her younger sister? Is Luna really straight or closeted? Do the ponies still frown upon the thought of two princesses or two princes dating each other? If so, then I'm not sure how I could find an immortal alicorn that is male. I mean, the only alicorns I know are Celestia, Luna, and Cadence. So, maybe it's not the right time to reveal to the princesses.
