Rainbow Dash knew what today was. She had been looking forward to it all year. It was the Day of the Pegasi, the day that celebrated Cloudsdale. The anniversary of when the Pegasi Tribe became part of Equestria. On the day of the unicorns, Twilight had been rubbing it in to any of the mane six she came across that she was angry that there was no day for alicorns. It really bugged Rainbow, so she said "Twilight, don't worry. You can celebrate the day of the unicorn and I'll let you celebrate the day of the pegasus with me!". She was kinda regretting that decision, now that Twilight was flying happily beside her, talking about the new spell she had just learned.

"And you gotta really concentrate, or it might make your wings lose their feathers."

At the mention of wings, Rainbow escaped from her thoughts and replied,

"Um, I kinda zoned out then, what are you talking about?"

"The new spell I learned, it makes your wings heal quicker from a fall."

"Ah, okay,"

They both landed in front of the Ponyville school.

"Twi, I gotta do a performance here for pegasus day…" Rainbow said quickly.

"That's okay, I'll just watch you." She replied, smiling.

"Um okay."

Rainbow walked into the classroom as Cheerilee explained to the fillies and colts what Rainbow was doing. Scootaloo's eyes widened with joy as soon as she saw her hero.

"Rainbow Dash!" She yelled.

Scootaloo ran over to Rainbow Dash and hugged her tightly.

"Good to see you too, squirt!" she replied.

Rainbow walked up to the place Cheerilee was standing and looked over the nine ponies in the class. The Cutie Mark Crusaders were looking really excited and Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon even looked happy as well. She cleared her throat and giddily yelled,

"Are you guys ready to celebrate the best day of the year?!"

They all shouted back "Yes!"

"Alright then, follow me outside!"

She then zoomed off outside, leaving a Rainbow Trail behind her. Twilight was very excited, whenever Rainbow Dash did tricks on Pegasus Day, she really made lots of effort to do it perfectly. She trotted off after the young ponies and her friend.

Rainbow Dash felt the wind in her mane as she did loops and soared through the sky. She was a free spirit and nothing was going to stop her. She gained speed as she kept rising up, getting higher and higher every second. Then she stopped and looked down. She stretched her wings, her hooves and felt her heart pounding. She was off. Speeding rapidly towards the ground, she felt the barrier. It pointed into a streamlined ark and as Rainbow broke the sound barrier, the biggest sonic rainboom she had ever done surrounded the sky. Her grin widened as she did a final loop and landed back on the grass.

"YAY!" Shouted the ponies on the ground.

Scootaloo was so happy that she flapped her wings like a hummingbird. Sweetie Bell released some light green magic sparks and Applebloom jumped around in a circle. Twilight cheered for her friend as she gazed up at the rainboom.

"Now, it's your turn!" Rainbow shouted as she landed.

Twilight thought for a minute, then raised her hand.

"Yes Twi?" Rainbow asked.

"Um Rainbow, not everyone is a pegasus…"

"I know, but the earth ponies and unicorns can help the pegasi fly."

"Uh, okay."

The CMC got in a group and Applebloom and Sweetie Bell stretched out Scootaloo's buzzing wings.

"Okay, now I really have to impress Rainbow Dash, but I can't fly…" Scootaloo moaned.

"Don't worry Scoots! Just try!" Applebloom replied.

Scootaloo flapped her tiny wings as fast as she could. She hovered above the ground for a second, but then came crashing down again.

"Urrggghhh!" She groaned.

"What do we have here then? Blank Flank can't fly!" Came a voice from behind them.

"Diamond Tiara, we don't have time for you to blab on about how we don't have our cutie marks!" Sweetie Bell yelled.

"Yeah! And it's not like you are ever gonna fly!" Applebloom pointed out.

"Oh, did you hear that Silver Spoon? The babies don't have time for our amazing cutie marks. See you later losers! And Scootaloo, keep trying to get a cutie mark in crashing and failing!"

"I hate her! I hate her, I hate her, I HATE HER!" Scootaloo whined.

She looked at her wings. She knew that Diamond Tiara was right though, she would never fly.

"What's wrong squirt?" Rainbow Dash asked as she walked up to Scootaloo.

"I'm never gonna be able to fly," cried Scootaloo

She sniffed and turned away from Rainbow.

"All of the other pegasi I know can."

"Squirt, when I was a filly I learned to fly when Fluttershy fell off a cloud. I dived down to rescue her and I safely flew back up with her. You will fly when you are ready." Rainbow said warmly.

She flapped over to some other fillies and winked at Scootaloo.

"She's right you know, don't worry Scoots." Applebloom comforted.

The school bell rang. Rainbow said bye to the fillies and dashed off. She soared through the sky at a light pace, waiting for Twilight to catch up.

"That… Was… AWESOME!" Twilight screamed as she clutched her friend.

"Hahaha Twi, you sound just like me!" Rainbow smirked.

"Haha, yeah I guess so, anyway what do we do now?"

"Well, I need to pick up some cupcakes from Sugarcube Corner, then I am gonna prepare for when the Wonder Bolts come next week."

"The Wonder Bolts?"

"Yeah, they go all around Equestria celebrating Pegasus Day. Today they are in Canterlot and next week they will be in Ponyville! I want Spitfire to know that she is looking at a future WonderBolt!"

"That sounds cool, so are we going to Sugarcube Corner?"

"Sure!"

The two mares flew in the direction of Sugarcube Corner and landed across the street from it. They walked to the door and pushed it open, having the top ring a small bell.

"What can I do for you dear?" Mrs Cake said as she was trying to feed Pound Cake.

"I'd like to retrieve the cupcakes I ordered please." Rainbow answered.

"Okay then,"

Mrs Cake bent down and picked up a slightly squashed pink box.

"Sorry, Pound Cake stood on the box, the cakes are fine." She added last minute, hoping the order would be fine even with the condition of the package.

"It's fine Mrs Cake, tell Pinkie Pie that I said hi."

"Okay, bye you two!"

"Bye!" Twilight cheered.

They walked outside and started flying to Rainbow Dash's house. On the way Twilight asked,

"Rainbow, what sort of things are you gonna do to impress the Wonder Bolts?"

"Err, you know, the usual sonic rainboom and flips."

"Okay."

They landed on a grassy field with trees dotted around it. It was underneath Rainbow's sky house.

"Okay, I'm gonna do tricks and you can watch if you want."

"Sure."

"Take a cupcake, I ordered them for me and you guys anyway."

Twilight took one as Rainbow dash sped in-between the trees. She pulled up and zoomed into the sky. Making sure she was low enough to have oxygen, she shot down through the clouds. She could hear Twilight cheering her on as she broke the sound barrier. The second rainboom of the day looked like it was going to impress the Wonder Bolts so much, that she would be praised on it forever.

Rainbow carried on doing tricks until Twilight yawned. She bolted to the ground and asked Twilight if she wanted to go home. She said she did so they slowly walked there.

"I had a great Pegasus Day Rainbow Dash!" Twilight yawned.

"Me too," Dash said beaming at her.

"Well see you later!" Dash shouted as she flew off.

"Bye!" Twilight called after her.

Rainbow Dash decided to watch the sunset like she did on other special occasions. She lay on the grass, underneath a huge oak tree that shaded her from the heat. She had lots of fun today. She thought that Twilight would go on about books, but she had been pretty cool. She would ask Fluttershy, her oldest friend, what she had done for Pegasus Day. But that could wait until tomorrow.

Rainbow was staring at the beautiful sunset, when she heard a voice saying,

"Where am I?".
