Author's Note: before we get this fic underway I first gotta clear some shit up:

1: The pony this fic will be mostly based on is a little somepony called Black Adder, a renowned war veteran of 20 years with a troubled past and a disturbing future. That's all the information I'm giving on him at this point in time, the rest shall come, just bear with me.

2: This fic will be 80% OCs and 20% Canon characters. If you don't like it, fuck off.

3: The canon characters in this fic will undergo MAJOR characteristic changes. Again, if you don't like it, fuck off.

4: This fic will be using the Metric system, not Imperial. The reason for this is because I'm Australian and I use Metric so fuck you Americans! Jokes DONT KILL ME!

5: another big thing is that this is going to be yet another side project. Luna's trial is my big project, this is the one I'll be coming back to once Luna's trial is finished and UNSC classified is now the least of my worries. I'll be doing those fics in that order.

6: oh, one more thing that I almost forgot to mention is that this takes place between Season 3 and 4 so that's why Twilight is an Alicorn.

Now that I've cleared some shit up, let's start, shall we?

Treebary Balcony, Ponyville

2200 hours

The moon was high over the peaceful night. Stars twinkled ever so brightly, like little openings in the sky. Most of Ponyville was covered in a veil of darkness, with the exception of Sweet Apple Acres in the distance and Sugar-cube Corner, both of which had light emanating from them. Some ponies decided to have a late-night stroll, holding their lanterns close to their beings to help them penetrate the darkness. I waved slightly to the odd passer-by, but rarely did they wave back, most of the time they just smiled awkwardly and kept walking. I wish I was more renowned, like the other princesses I thought with sorrow. But I'm just some pony who has the blessing of both wings AND a horn. I sighed and retreated from my balcony and into the warm room that was my bedroom. I used my magic to close the doors behind me, lift the book I was reading from the bedside table and lifted the blanket on my bed slightly so I could snuggle in. Once I got comfortable in my bed, I opened my book and started to read from it. I hadn't got even half a page down before a deafeningly loud explosion occurred just outside the Treebary, causing all my windows to break inwards and towards my being. I shrieked and defensively put up a small bubble shield around myself, to stop any glass from potentially injuring me. Once the rain of glass ended, I leapt out of my bed and onto my balcony once again so I could see what was happening. I saw a large crater had appeared roughly where the explosion happened and I could see a smouldering hot... Thing in the middle of it. I flew down (I say flew, more slightly controlled gliding) towards the crater to get a better look of what happened. Within seconds the whole of Ponyville was crowding around the crater. I sew a familiar Rainbow shape come towards me and Rainbow Dash perfectly touched down next to me.

"What happened here, Twi? One moment I was happily sleeping in my bed, next thing I know, somepony decided to pull off a Sonic Rainboom right next to my house!? I mean what the buck!?" She exclaimed, throwing her hooves in the air.

"I know, but maybe... Wait, how did you know it was a pony?" I intently asked her.

"I dunno, I'm just using my deduction skills and by what I saw, I'm pretty sure that it was a pony who pulled that off." Suddenly we heard an almost Inaudible groan come from the crater.

"Wait, there's a Pony in there!" Somepony from the crowd called out. I turned to the crater and saw that the pony's claims were true. There was a pony in there. Rainbow and I both rushed to the pony's side, offering to help him up.

"Ugh, get off me." He muttered, we backed off slightly. He shakily stood up on all fours and took a look at his surroundings.

"Where am I? Where's north?" He asked, rubbing his head roughly with his hoof.

"Umm, you're in Ponyville and... North's thataway." Rainbow responded, pointing in the general direction of North.

"Thank you, Ma'am." The mysterious Pony stated and he started to light his horn, but was interrupted when he suddenly cried out in pain and dropped to the ground.

"Woah, woah there buddy, you ain't going nowhere in this condition. Come on, we'll get you to the hospital." I cheerfully spoke, offering my help once again and this time he accepted. He put his hoof around my back and he used me as a support as him, Rainbow and I walked slowly to the hospital. I turned to the crowd and told them to go back to bed and that we'll all help clean up all the broken glass. Once I said that, the crowd quickly dispersed and us three were the only ones on the road.

"I... Didn't quite... Catch your name...?" He said in between breaths. He'd been hurt bad from that fall.

"My name's Twilight Sparkle." I cheerfully responded.

"So you're the new princess, eh?" His statement caused me to blush, which caused Rainbow to giggle quietly.

"And who are you, dare I ask Ma'am?" He added, this time to Rainbow. She flew in front of him and stated proudly,

"I'm Rainbow Dash! The most awesomest flier in all of Equestria!"

"Ah, I've heard great things about you, miss Dash. One of the hoof-full of ponies that have ever pulled off a Sonic Rainboom, not once but twice! Your more famous than you think, Rainbow!" That small speech caused her to blush slightly.

"Anyway, we never caught your name, Mr... ?" I politely asked.

"Oh me? Names Black Adder, of Celestia's Elite Guard." He responded. We all stopped and gaped at him.

"Black Adder? Like THE Black Adder? As in, CAPTAIN of the Elite guard Black Adder?" Rainbow asked, her jaw nearly hitting the ground.

"Celestia's Elite guard to be accurate and yes, I'm the Legendary Black Adder! As you can see I'm nothing really special, just your average pony." He obviously didn't think highly of himself.

Authors note: Hello, me again, I didn't really like the ending of this first chapter, thought it left it too open. But hey, as long as you guys like, I'll try to like it too.

Oh and it'd be nice if you guys could spend about a minute of two trotting a review of this. It'll really help the fic and me personally as a writer.
