MLP: The Forgotten Prince

A/N: Well the first one in a long time now, guess no one would really figure it'd be a My Little Pony story this time but a) I wanted to try something new and b) I had some idea's for this series for some time now.

Well enough of my chatter and on with it.

Prologue : The Story Of Equestria's Forgotten Prince.

Equestria. A peaceful land full of ponies of all kind that live together in harmony and who are watched over by two rulers Princess Celestia and the recently returned Princess Luna whom was once jealous and angry over her sister's power of the sun, ponies who would play and be joyously active while her nights they slept through and unappreciated.

After so many years Luna had finally snapped and unleashed her inner rage and jealousy from her nights going unappreciated and in her mind hated which caused her transformation into her dark and terrible alter-ego.

Nightmare Moon.

With her transformation came the desire to make night eternal and force all of Equestria to love and appreciate the night. Princess Celestia could not fight and hurt let alone destroy her own sister and thus used six magical objects known as the Elements of Harmony to banish and seal Nightmare Moon into her own moon for a thousand years.

The story of the Princess of The Sun and Princess of The Night is well known and recorded through-out history but unknown to quite a large number of Equestrian's there's a piece of history that was said to have been covered and removed by the Princess' themselves by those who were closest to them.

That is the history of Equestria's missing and undoubtedly unknown third ruler, Prince Cosmos.

There is much speculation if there is even a prince at all but whispers of his existence flow through the winds of Equestria even to this day and by those long gone who knew of his name, there were even rumors of rare sightings of this Prince Cosmos near Ponyville.

The known story of third ruler is that he was born as the second youngest of the three and was known as Prince of The Stars. While his sister Celestia controlled the power of the Sun and his sister Luna controlled the power of the Moon, Cosmos was said to be able to control the power of the Stars themselves and could bring real beauty to Luna's nights while helping to control the balance of Equestria with their light and energy.

The three of them ruled Equestria for hundreds of years and kept all forms of the lands balance intact until the day that was spoke of to today happened.

Prince Cosmos had vanished.

No pony knows how, why or what happened just that there was rumbling in the castle above Canterlot along with a massive outburst of magical energy which was in the color Cosmos was known for, a shining deep purple.

Witness reports that it had grown quiet afterword's with the castle slightly damaged with cracks along various outer walls.

That was all that could be recorded, the remaining sibling Princess Celestia gave no real indication as to what befell the Prince of The Stars only that he was no longer in Canterlot and no more than that.

What had befallen the Prince of The Stars?

Was it an attack to crumble the leadership by old enemies?

A backfired spell of his creation?

Or possibly... a fight between the two of them?

While the last theory is heavily unlikely it is not considered an impossibility due to disagreements Princess Celestia and Prince Cosmos have had due to Celestia sealing their sister up in her own moon when Cosmos believed that their could have been another way. Again we aren't truly sure of the circumstances because of the witnesses of such events having long since passed away but based on rumors that still flow in Canterlot.

We continue to search for the facts to this day or until time itself tells when or if this story is indeed true, because of the facts of Princess Luna's case with the Nightmare Moon incident this publisher does in fact feel and believe them to be true to the core.

A sigh escaped the owner's lips as the book regarding the founding and history of Equestria was closed and was placed back on it's spot on one of the many shelves in the room that contained an almost endless amount of reading material with magic with the purple glow around it being an indication. The mare that owned the building, a tree library, had medium purple colored fur with a mane and tail that was dark purple with a light purple stripe in the middle of both with a horn on her head and a large crystal star surrounded by smaller stars on her flank which was known as a Cutie Mark.

This mare was known as Twilight Sparkle. A species of pony known as a Unicorn and a proprietor of knowledge along with being quite skilled in the magical arts.

She also represented the element of Magic as one of the six Elements of Harmony with the others being Applejack, the element of Honesty, Rarity who represented the element of Generosity, Pinkie Pie the element of Laughter, Fluttershy the element of Kindness and Rainbow Dash who represented the element of Loyalty.

All six of them had managed to defeat Nightmare Moon during that time and transform her back into Princess Luna who had since taken her place as the second ruler of Equestria and they had become it's Guardians as they represented the powerful elements.

At the moment she was researching upon this "Prince Cosmos" whom she got interested in after hearing some rumors from older ponies back in Canterlot, she asked Princess Celestia about him during the time of the Grand Galloping Gala but she would keep directing her towards another question or pretending she didn't hear it. When she did, seemingly, she played it off as nothing more than a figment character Luna made up while she had been locked away in the moon.

Twilight didn't completely dismiss it when something in her teacher's eyes said otherwise.

"Spike! Have you found those old history books yet?" She shouted to her assistant whom was a baby dragon she hatched during her trials to become Celestia's apprentice. Said dragon poked his head into the room after coming back up from the basement to find any other archive regarding this Cosmos character. Spike, still being a baby dragon, was short with light purple scales with a green underbelly, hands with small claws, a tail, webbing on his head which was green and light emerald eyes.

He shook his head to say no and to get rid of some dust that gathered on him. "No Twilight there's so much junk down there now it's hard to get through it all." He went back down and moved a few things with Twilight hearing quite a few bumps to emphasize his point before coming back up. "Besides wasn't this whole legend made only recently, like a year ago recent?" He asked with a raised brow holding up a finger.

"Because no pony bothered to write anything about it up until now Spike." She replied rolling her eyes at how lazy he could at times. "According to the book by Story whispers of Prince Cosmos have been around since the time before Princess Luna became Nightmare Moon." She levitated some old dusty books out of storage chest Spike brought up and set them on her reading table.

The title was Equestria's History Vol. I, exactly what she had been looking for and hopefully an answer to this missing prince.

Spike sighed in relief in hopes she wouldn't need him all over the place, again, for the tenth time that day. "So I guess you might have an answer to that now Twilight?" Said unicorn mare face-hoofed and nodded. "Yes Spike it is, thank you and now you can go have that ruby gem for lunch." She replied and rolled her eyes as he let out a whoop of joy and shot upstairs with a cloud dust behind. Twilight giggled a bit letting humor replace her frustrations and went on to hopefully find an answer.

Who could be upset when they're were or might make one of the biggest discoveries in Equestria history?

A/N: Well prologue is done and I was thinking about making it longer but that would take the preview out of it plus it's been about three or four days since I've started and I'd rather not keep using time on it.

Well not a first time for an OC but definitely rare for Alicorn and one related to those two, thought I'd make this more interesting since I don't really like that normal OC pony in the first place plus I like evil-ish drama with family groups hence my like for Naruto hating his family though it is justified.
