"Where is he going?" Spike asked as the group stood on the balcony watching the approaching mass of darkness.

"Its Natsu." Lucy answered. "There's only one place he'd be stupid enough to go."

She then pointed her hoof at the advancing mass. Spike's eyes widened.

"He-he wouldn't..." He said almost breathlessly. Lucy and her companions nodded simultaneously.

"Oh but he would. That bonehead's been known to do even stupider things." Grey answered.

As soon as Natsu arrived, he rushed ahead without a second thought, not even noticing the other ponies around him all garbed in gold armor. He just barely registered the shout of somepony before he plowed right into the changeling lines and was immediately engulfed by the dark mass. At this point however, he didn't care. These creatures were hurting a guild member and everything she cared about. As far as he was concerned, nothing mattered more than destroying these creeps and ending this war.

At first, he was doing quite well. Not only was he bucking and punching, but because of his training he was also using his unicorn magic, cutting massive swathes into the changeling lines. And for a moment it seemed like he could end the war. However it wasn't long before the changelings overcame their surprise and began to fight back. As a hundred were cut down, a thousand more replaced them.

It wasn't long before Natsu found himself overwhelmed by the massive swarm as they dove right at him. As darkness surrounded him he screwed his eyes shut and for the first time ever in his life, he wondered if he was going to die. Then, like a massive weight been lifted, Natsu felt changelings suddenly being knocked off him. Before he could open his eyes to see his rescuer Natsu felt a sudden sensation of floating before he felt like he was being yanked backwards.

Like he'd been shot out of a canon, Natsu felt himself flying out of the swarm before grinding to a halt on the ground. Finally able to see his surroundings, Natsu found himself staring up the muzzle of a white unicorn stallion with a blue mane garbed in purple armor. As he stared, the unicorn leaned forward a hard look in his eyes.

"ARE YOU INSANE?!" He blasted into Natsu's face. "Massive unstoppable changeling swarm plowing forward and you thought the smartest thing to do WAS TO THROW YOURSELF IN!?"

"Uh." Was all Natsu could say, still a little dazed by his fight and rescue followed by this unicorn blasting in his face.

Before he could gather himself enough to say anything a white stallion dressed in gold armor ran up.

"Captain!" Was all he said. The unicorn, who was obviously the captain, nodded as if he received the message.

"PULL BACK!" He called to the other ponies. At his word they pulled away. As his stallions ran the unicorn levitated Natsu to his hooves before giving him a shove. Still a little dazed and confused, Natsu ran

Halfway up the mountain, the unicorn paused in front of Natsu, almost knocking him off his hooves. Once he'd steadied himself, Natsu noticed that the unicorn was looking down the mountain. Following his gaze Natsu saw the changeling horde had stopped it's advance not far from the mountain.

"Why are they stopping?"

"Nesting." At the unicorn's answer, Natsu turned.

"Changelings are like bees. Mostly in nesting habits. In a hive, you've got the queen changeling who lays eggs that become new changelings. Normally, changelings take a month or so to develop. But Queen Chrysalis somehow found a way to speed up her children's growth considerably. I'd say we have a day or two at most."

The unicorn paused before extending a hoof. "I'm Shining Armor by the way." He introduced as Natsu took the hoof. "Sorry I didn't get to introduce myself earlier."

"Thats okay. My name's Natsu."

Another long pause as Shining Armor narrowed his eyes at Natsu. "You wouldn't happen to be one of Twilight Sparkle's students, would you?"

"You know me?"

"Course I do." He replied as he began to trot up the mountain path once more. "Flash always keeps me updated on events back at the castle. Not to mention Twilight's written about you in a few of her letters to me."

"Why would she write letters to you?"

"Why wouldn't she? She's my baby sister."

Natsu froze in shock, almost knocking the stallion behind him down the mountain the hard way. Shining took notice.

"Why is that so surprising?"

"Sorry." Natsu apologized as he resumed his own walk. "It's just, Twilight never mentioned a brother."

"I would imagine not." Shining replied so good naturedly it almost sounded like a laugh. "When Twi was born, I was in boot camp. By the time she got into school, I'd graduated and gone to a cadet school for the royal guard. We hardly saw each other while she was growing up, but we were still important parts of each other's lives. Also, Twi's not one to go on and on about anyone. Guess it's an after effect of not having many friends as a filly."

A\N And that's as far as I got. Honestly, I don't think I'll be able to finish this fic. It was my very first thing that I'd written so I didn't think things through and now I'm pretty much stuck in a rut. So I've decided that if I'm unable to write this fic, perhaps someone else can. So from this point on, I'm announcing the discontinuation of this fic and anyone who wants to write this story is welcome to it. I'm sorry but there isn't anything else I can do.
