(Dawn the next day, Ponyville)

DarkSteel waits for Darkstar late at night at the edge of house moon and stars territory near ponyville his silver coat and black mane reflect the full moons light as does his gold and silver armored robes a he now feels as a last gift from his mother.

Inside his satchel is many components for the ritual Tears of Nightmare Moon , a piece of Celestia's mane the remains of the element of magic and several other once powerful but now useless relics of a time all but forgotten he sets them up in the correct positions angles and the like.

Speaking in a old language to awaken what little power remains inside them for this last desperate move . He feels like death its self is standing over him its scythe at his thought just waiting for him to make one mistake and walk into its cold dark embrace.

He senses Darkstar nearby and his mind travels back as far as he can remember losing his family to the Cult of Laughter, wandering aimlessly for months from refugee camp to refugee camp. Hated and demonized just for having magic and having to either run away or risk losing his horn.

So many cold hungry nights , reaching the Canterlot barrier and passing through it , attempting to steal food from the castle in a desperate attempt to survive , failing and getting captured by the Knights of Luna.

Being brought before his mother to be executed , using all his fear and desire to live to blast away the executioner and others by sheer uncontrolled magic , passing out and waking up in his now room and twilight making him an offer.

" I can teach you to use your magic harness it you are the only pony I've met with power to match my own and your still just barley a colt if you refuse ill have no choice but to lock you away as you are a potential threat." He agreed of course at first he was terrified of her but as time went on he began to see what no others did twilight was alone and hurting in a single reckless day she lost all of her friends and by the end of the year was at war with them.

At first his attempts to get closer failed but when he explained what he went through and he knows how she feels they bonded slowly but surely their relationship changed from master and apprentice to mother and son.

DarkSteel remembered the first of many things he went through living with her his first day training under her , his first day training with the knights of Celestia and Luna his first time he met and freed a slave this and many more things flooded his mind as he finished the preparations just as Darkstar came into view.

"Are you sure you don't just want to surrender Darksteel, I can promise you that no harm will come to my sister. I never planned on killing her to begin with, just simply bring her to justice, she is my sister after all." He stated as Darksteel paused for a second.

"All the pain and suffering of the people will stop and if my hunch is right then the princess will be back very soon and all will be right with the land." He stated.

"You lie." He growled.

DarkSteel drew his personal strange weapon known as a MANABLADE he made from a old schematic he found in the Canterlot restricted section. It was a hilt with no blade to a earth pony or Pegasus but in his hoofs it was a silver and black blade comprised of pure magic and channeled his magic around it and assumed a defensive stance and waited for Darkstar to make the first move and make the first move Darkstar did.

He knew not to underestimate him and didn't plan to using the amulet to enhance his speed he came at DarkSteel with unnatural speed and power his two blades a blur to any normal pony's trained or otherwise eyes but not to DarkSteel he had prepared himself for this and barley blocked Darkstars powerful attack , Darkstar was surprised but didn't let it faze him as he continued to test DarkSteel and his defense.

He fond them both to be formidable and jumped back to avoid to the powerful Manablade's strike DarkSteel used his powerful magic to enhance his own speed and agility to attempt to break through darkstars powerful defenses.

He knew Darkstar had far more experience then him in one on one combat or in anything really but Darkstar was getting older and slower his body had been through a lot of punishment over the years and he knew that any wound inflicted would heal rapidly but Darkstar had used the amulet so long that if and that is a really big IF he was separated from it Darkstar might not be able to fight anymore his age would catch up and so would his old wounds.

The battle went back and forth for hours it was a battle of age-won skill, power , and wisdom verses young well trained skill , ferocity and a desire to protect what they both truly cared about. In the end Darkstar and steel and both realized that their skills were equal and in the long run DarkSteel would win due to having more energy and being younger.

But that was only if Darkstar didn't have the power of the Alicorn amulet to enhance him he knew if he was going to win he couldn't use some of it he has to use it all he had made a deal to help House moon and Star conquer Equestria if he lost he expected a difficult battle but not this.

DarkSteel felt the air around him chill and felt dark power start to pulsate off Darkstar he knew from the feeling this wasn't some of the amulets power, Darkstar was going to use it all he knew he would soon come face to face with the demon of his nightmares and readied himself for it ...

But he wasn't ready enough Darkstar when he entered his full power reaper form was faster, stronger and far more powerful than anything hed ever seen and in a instant he was knocked off his hooves and was pinned down in the remains of twilights old home the library. He looked into darkstars demonic eyes and heard him trough all the pain say.

"YEILD" . DarkSteel knew that if was anyplace else he would have no choice but Darkstar and he were now in the center of the ritual circle and he said

" Yes Darkstar i accept your yield" confused Darkstar too late noticed the strange smells and markings in the library and looked down at DarkSteel as he cut his hoof on a rusty nail and slams in in a sigil on the floor.

At that moment the former library was filled with cerulean light and In the center of it Darkstar felt something , something wrong with him he looked down to see his reaper form slowly faze out of his body and become a transparent version of it in front of him he could see the amulet inside it as well and watched it slowly start to collapse on its self and implode.

When the amulet was destroyed within seconds the cerulean light was gone and they were back in the library their roles reversed DarkSteel and his Manablade at his neck and he felt weak to weak to even lift a hoof but he could only utter two words

"Yield Darkstar, your war is over." Darksteel stated as Dark looked at the space where his amulet used to be before it was destroyed.

So many things ran through Darks head as he just stared at the space when he heard a voice not his own.

'THIS ISN'T OVER! PULL YOURSELF UP! SHOW THIS CHILD WHAT IT IS TO BE A LORD OF THE IMPERIUM! SHOW HIM THAT HIS LITTLE TRICK DIDN'T STOP YOU!' Dark froze and he looked around for the person but only saw Steel glaring at him.

"I SAID YIELD DARKSTAR!"

"Do you hear him order you around? Are you going to let this fool, this weak little child win, with everything hanging in the balance?" The voice asked as Dark felt his eye pulse.

"Don't make me kill you Darkstar." Steel growled

"Darkstar are you just going to sit there and let all you worked for crumble to the ground?" It asked as a burning hate sparked in Darkstar.

"Very well.. Uncle." Steel said as a powerful pulse blasted Steel away as the house was destroyed from the powerful blast making Steel fly through two buildings.

"What just happened!?" Steel yelled only to be on the end of a powerful hoof to the face knocking him through every house on the block.

THOOOM!

Steel landed in the old park badly beaten and bloody from going through the old houses when he heard sinister laughter from all around him making him quickly scramble to his hooves and looked around for a while before he spotted a red dot in the dust looking at him before it blinked making him jump as it disappeared.

"You should surrender now Darksteel, as we speak my forces are laying waste to the city. It's very easy Darksteel, just say I give." Steel heard him say his voice all around him.

"What did you do Darkstar, I can feel the dark power in you. What have you done?" He asked before his face was slammed into the cobble stone making him scream in pain.

"What have to for my plans to come to light, you don't get the big picture do you boy?" The deep rumble of Darks voice growled in his ear.

"If you win, you will never be able to free the princess, yield to me Steel and this war is over. Why fight for such a lost cause and wrong cause at that? You are a fool Steel." Dark said before vanishing just as Steel's blade passed through the space where he was.

Steel picked his head up spitting out a few teeth as laughter could be heard all around him.

"FACE ME LIKE A STALLION DEMON!" He yelled as the laughter went down to chuckle coming from his right he turned and gapped at Darkstar's form, he was jet black with a black and red horn and a single brightly glowing red doted eye. Steel could see sharp points that looked like small fangs from the smirk he was giving him.

"I kind of like the new me if I do say so myself." Dark stated as Steel readied his blade while dark gave a frown.

"So you wave your blade at a unarmed oppenent? Some stallion you are." Dark said as his horn gave off a dull glow of almost black in aura as Steels hilt turned black before falling to ash to the ground.

"There we go now all is fair." He smiled at the enraged and the look of disbelief on the younger stallions face.

''What have you done!?" He yelled while Dark continued to smile.

"I made us even." He stated before getting serious.

"You call me a demon but yet I'm the one freeing this land from years of pain and death! You think the few good things you did will save my sister from her sins!?" He asked his voice becoming more and more deeper as power sparked over his bady glaring at the other stallion.

"You think because you have destroyed the amulet that it was going to stop me!? Surrender now or DIE!" Darkstar ordered towering over the younger stallion who sighed he knew that Darkstar would not hesitate killing him if he had to but he couldn't just give up without a fight.

Darksteel growled as he started to charge up his horn only to feel a blinding pain to his jaw and then body as he flipped through the air before slamming into a building leaving a imprint on the building.

"Ughhh."

"I WILL SHOW YOU WHY I'M NAMED DARKSTAR THE REAPER!" Darkstar growled rearing back just as Darksteel move watching as his hoof went through the stone wall only to feel pain erupt from his face and then again to his back as he slammed into the ground, while he rolled over to see Darkstar falling towards him with a small black orb at the tip of his hoof.

"I yield!" Darksteel said as Darkstar landed above him and smirked.

"Good choice." He said as he put his hoof to his ear and sat down hearing his little girl talk to the people making him smile.

"You know Steel your cousin even if you defeated me would have avenged me and brought honor back to our family, yours and Twilight death would have been assured I can promise you this." He said sounding a little tired.

You were beautiful baby girl, I'm so very proud of you."

"I'm in Ponyville, in your aunts old library."

But don't worry I'll be home soon ok?" He said.

"Yeah I'm fine baby girl, I'm just very tired." As he looked up at Steel who was looking at him confused.

"Very soon sweetie, very soon. Put your mother back on ok?" He asked

"Hey hun make sure to watch over the kids ok until I come home. I love you." He stated as Steel sighed.

"Lets go nephew, it's time this war ended." He stated getting a sigh from Darksteel.

(1 year later)

The victory over Moon and Star was heard far and wide as the alliance celebrated and the Imperial army left for home leaving fresh troops nearly 300,000 Imperial troops while Templar troops with the help of Moon and Star's Inqusition hunted down the Laughing Mare along with Lunar and Assualt Marines.

With most of Everfree burned and rebel groups destroyed or surrendered progress was easy when they found and destoryed the demon's body after it was found from ripping the information out of Cranky Doodle Donkey and Mayor Mare. Twilight was called to actually seal the demon away with Darkstars help.

With the demon destoryed the ominous light in the changeling area disappeared while a bright light formed above the land as Celestia and Luna along with Discord appeared, the land was overjoyed to have their empress back, but the ponies of Equestria looked on at their long lost sun princess with fear and shock.

While the Imperium celebrated Luna's return Twilight and those of the Mane 6 looked on in shame as Celestia wept looking on at the ruined land, in all her years since before the three tribes were united had Celestia ever seen such death and destruction.

Even when Discord was ruling none of the ponies died from his harmless pranks, but even after uniting the land and freeing it from Discord it only took 15 years for it to be undone.

She looked out at the fire still burning the Everfree when she hear the click of claws come up behind her.

"Princess Celestia? What happened?" She started to tremble a she turned to see Spike back to normal before wrapping him in a hug.

"I'm so sorry!" She cried as the confused baby dragon hugged the mare back as she cried on his shoulder. Both were unaware of the black stallion listening in before walking away.

In the Imperium the ponies cheered happy their leader was back while Luna quickly made her way to the wounded to see what she could do for them, taking the time to visit each and every one of them and even waited for those that were in surgery to wish them well. She offered thanks and prayer for those that died in her name and the Imperium's to free Equestria.

She wept for her own friends that died and even was able to heal Rarity of her disease while she morned over Pinkie Pie. Darkstar was permantly the way he was, after the amulet was destroyed the demonic power inside him rose up to take the void filling Darkstar with far more power than he could have ever thought.

Vinyl loved the new look while Fleetfoot was a little worried at first before both Celestia and Luna gave the all clear when his phyc eval was all done. Avitus thought it looked awesome while Rarity said it gave him a dark and mysterious charm to him. Darkstar was just happy that everyone was ok with his new darker look and didn't shun him for what he had to do.

Over the year Darkstar and the rest of his family had gotten together to vist Twilight who had only recently relized the horrors that she had comitted when Celestia had came to see her, leaving both mares crying through the night blaming themselves for what had happened.

In the months following the year all the refugees were brought back to Equestria to start over and build a new life with their ruler back in power and hoped to live in peace for once as unicorn, pegasi, and earth ponies lived side by side once again.

Darkstar married Rarity and Fleetfoot at the end of that year and retired from all military duties, he was given the Imperial metal for his acomplishment during the time of the invasion.

Rainbow Dash and Fireblaze married that year as soon as they got back to Equestria, Dash had Cloudy as her best mare while Blaze had Nara as his best griffon. The two were expecting a foal in a few months time and they couldn't be happier.

Creamskull found and acended to the that of a reaper of death and now guides the lost souls of the dead to their eternal resting place. He stops in to check on Darkstar ever once in a while just to make sure his friend is ok.

Drago moved to the Imperium to be close to his friends and even met a mare who was surprisingly Sister Helena of the Assult Marines. The pair made a odd couple but they made it work, Drago said that the make up sex was always great.

Glittershot became the lead tactian after Darkstar left and was Solars go to mare and had even started to date the youngest of the Sparkle family.

Zephyr Star cussed Darkstar out for being a idiot and take a power he didn't know about that could have corrupted him worse than the Laughing Mare. But after he calmed down enough he grumbled about him for a few more minutes before hooking him up to a computer and doing various test on him poking and proding him with a smile on his face since it was "Order from the Empress." He would always say.

Applejack and Fluttershy were also sent for heavy phycologcal Evaluations.

Fluttershy is still in the ward as she still claims to hear the voices of the Everfree.

Applejack was sentenced to life for war crimes against unicorns in a maximum secruity prison in the Imperium with a chance of parole. Her family visits her often and even Dash visits her when she was in the Imperium.

Twilight was senctenced to life for war crimes against pony kind with a chance of parole. Darkstar and his brothers visit her every chance they can.

Steel was given 5 years in prison for various war crimes where he met Stardancer who now visits him quite often.
