On a large island, far, far away from the continent of Equestria, {I'm just going to call the continent that.} a very great and powerful Kingdom is being destroyed by an evil force. The mighty King of the Elements, Inferno Blaze, has already fallen, leaving the Elements to his wife, Crystal River. She had already gotten the last of them, and grabbed a basket, putting her two fillies inside. Their names were Azure Onyx, and Ember Pyre. She was taking them to the ocean, so that hopefully, they could survive. She had also used her Unicorn magic to seal the other Elements, into two, the Fire and Ice. Ember would take the fire, and Azure would take the ice.

Galloping away, she tried her best to avoid the guards that were looking for her. It was hours she had ran, and decided to use her wings. When the docks came into view, she landed, and laid down the basket carefully. She lifted the cover, revealing her two beautiful filly children.

Ember was a dark red colt, with yellow stripes. His hair was the same color, but it was shaped into spikes. So was his tail. Even though he was asleep, she could remember exactly what color his eyes were. Ember had brown/hazel eyes, which were full of excitement, adventure, and trust.

Azure was very different from the family. She had midnight black fur, and dark blue stripes, much like Inferno's. Her hair was the same color as her stripes, and was tied up like their culture. Her eyes were a sapphire blue, but she was different from Ember. Her eyes consisted of coldness and maturity, emotions you'd see in a full-grown pony. Even though she didn't like to play, or have fun, Crystal River still loved her daughter will all of her heart. As if on cue, they both opened their eyes, and looked at their mother with sadness in their eyes.

Smiling, she opened her mouth, and began to sing their favorite lullaby:

This is what I brought you this you can keep,
This is what I brought you may forget me.
I promised to depart just promise one thing,
Kiss my eyes and lay me to sleep.

This is what i brought you this you can keep,
This is what i brought you may forget me.
I promise you my heart just promise to sing,
Kiss my eyes and lay me to sleep.

She could hear voices in the distance, but ignored them.

Kiss my eyes and lay me to sleep.

This is what I thought,
I thought you need me,
This is what I thought so think me naive,
I promise you a heart you promised to keep,
Kiss my eyes and lay me to sleep.

Kiss my eyes and lay me to sleep.

The voices were getting closer and closer by the second, so she decided that it was time. Her children were falling asleep, so she put a kiss on their foreheads, and put the lid back on. The voices were dangerously close now, but she didn't care. She laid the basket in the water, and let it go, watching her children float away. Several tears rolled down her face. Turning around, she saw a faint light in the forest.

Crystal Lake looked back at her children, and whispered the last lyrics.

Kiss my eyes and lay me to sleep
