Chapter 7: Chapter 7: Mother's Day
Previous Chapter Next ChapterHey guys, it's me Sunblast X and welcome to Chapter 7 of: Luna's Foal. As usual I haven't been able to upload an chapters because I don't have internet at my house, so I can only update when I'm at a computer with internet. That aside though, let's start chapter 7 shall we?
It was morning at Canterlot castle and Pip had just eaten breakfast.
"Bye mom, I'm going to the park with Ray!" Pip shouted as he was about to exit the breakfast room.
"Wait a second" She said as she walked up to him, stopping him. He turned around. "What about my goodbye kiss?" she asked with a smile. She bent down and turned her head to the right. Pip smiled and lovingly kissed his mother's cheek. Luna gave a kiss back, on his cheek as well. "Go on sweetie, have fun with you're little friend" she said as she rubbed the top of his head. He then ran outside and headed to the park.
-Canterlot park-
Pip and Solar Ray were at the park swinging on the swings. Well, Pip was on the swings. Ray was busy picking flowers.
"Ray, why are you picking flowers?" Pip asked him.
"I'm picking roses and making a card for my mom" he said.
"That's nice of you" Pip said. "What's the occasion?" he asked.
"It's mother's day!" he said with a smile. Pip had a confused look on his face.
"Mother's day…?" Pip asked with a raised eyebrow and confusion, not knowing what this day was.
"You know, the day where you thank your mom for all she's done for you" Ray said. Pip was still confused. It was then that remembered that little detail about his friend. "Oh…. That's right… you were an orphan most of your life…" he said awkwardly. "Well, anyway, mother's day is the day where you celebrate all the things your mom has done for you. It's a day where you get to show her how much you really love her" he explained.
"Really? Hm. Maybe I should do something to show my mom how much I love her" Pip said. "But what do you get a mom who not only adopted you, but is also a princess?" He asked himself, placing his hoof on his chin with a thinking expression.
-Meanwhile at Canterlot castle-
"Mother's day?" Luna asked her sister with a raised eyebrow.
"Yes, it's a day where children celebrate their love for their mothers" Celestia explained. "And since you have a child of your own now, you can celebrate it this year and onward" she said, and then took a sip of her tea.
"That sounds nice. Unfortunately I won't be here today to celebrate it with my child, for I have to attend to in the Crystal Empire" Luna said, and then walked away. "Who knows? Maybe my son will have something waiting for me when I get back" she said and continued walking. She then hopped into her hardcore chariot pulled by night guards and headed to the Crystal Empire. It was at this second that Pipsqueak came in.
"Hey Aunt Celestia" he greeted his aunt.
"Hello dear nephew" she greeted back with a smile.
"Where's my mom?" he asked.
"You just missed her, she already headed out into the Crystal Empire" she told him. Pip had a disappointed look on his face. Celestia saw this. "What's wrong, Pipsqueak?" she asked her nephew.
"Well, I just found out today's mother's day and I…" he trailed off.
"You wanted to do something nice for your mom" Celestia said, finishing his sentence. He slowly nodded. "Oh Pip, that is so sweet of you" she said in a sweet voice, hugging her nephew and nuzzling his face with hers. It was then that Pip got an idea.
"I know! I'll make her a card" he said. He then ran to his room to start working on his mother's day card for him mom.
-Pip's room-
Pip burst into his room with an enthusiastic look on his face. He was greeted by his dog licking his face.
"Hey Fang" he said, petting his dogs head. "I'm going to make a card for mom for mother's day" he told his dog. He opened the drawer of his nightstand and took out a piece of dark blue construction paper. He folded it in half and cut it into a certain shape. When he unfolded it, it was in the shape of a heart. He then took out a bottle of glue and some blue glitter. He spread the glue along the borders of the heart shape paper. Once that was done, poured glitter where the glue was and it made the card nice and sparkly. "Ok, that's done. Now to add a message to make this even more special" he said. He took out several different colored pencils. With them, he wrote a message and drew a picture. "Perfect!" he said looking at his hoofmade card. He then set it down for the glue to dry. It was then that another idea came to his mind. "But why stop there? I could do more stuff to show my mom how much I love her" he said with a light smile. He then ran out of his room.
-The kitchen-
Pip had been walking through the castle until had arrived at the kitchen. He entered and walked up to the head chef.
"Um, hello chef" Pip greeted him.
"Oh, hello Prince Pip. What can I do for you today?" he asked Pip.
"Today's mother's day and I was wondering if you'd be willing to help me bake a cake for my mom, Princess Luna" he asked.
"That's awfully kind of you. What kind of cake would you like to bake for your mother?" the head chef asked. Pip put his hoof to his chin and thought for a moment. What kind of a cake would his mother like? A mother as special as her deserved a special cake. But what kind? Pip then got an idea of what kind of cake to make his mom.
"I know! A chocolate cake with blue frosting, white star shaped icing, and a message written in black icing saying 'Happy Mother's Day!'" he told him.
"Very creative, and you used her favorite colors too" the chef said. "Come back in an hour or so, the cake should be ready by then" he said.
"Ok, thanks" Pip said, and then walked out the kitchen so the chefs could bake the cake.
-The halls-
After Pip was done asking the chefs to bake his mom's cake, he was walking through the halls of the castle, a confident smile across his face. This wouldn't last long because he then bumped into Blueblood.
"…Hey cousin Blueblood" Pip greeted his cousin, even though he was a pompous jerk.
"Hello, runt" he greeted back, but with an insult.
"That's Pipsqueak!" Pip shot back.
"Whatever…" Blueblood said, not caring. "So, what are you up to? As if it's important" Blueblood said harshly.
"I'm making a special mother's day surprise for my mom" Pip said with a smile.
"Your mother? You mean that horrible aunt of mine, Princess Luna?" he asked rhetorically with a raised eyebrow. "Hmph. That mare isn't even good aunt, let alone a good mother. She doesn't deserve anything special" he said. Pip gave him an irritated glare.
"Hey Blueblood, want to see a new spell that I've learned?" Pip asked. Pip then lit his right hoof up with magic and stomped it on the ground. This then caused a mystical hoof to come up from under Blueblood and hit him in the family jewels. Blueblood held his private region in pain. "No one talks about my mother that way, you pompous jerk!" Pip said to him with an angry tone and expression, and then walked away with his head held high and his eyes closed. You can talk bad about Pip all you wanted, but no one talks bad about his mother and gets away with it… no one, not even Blueblood. After taking care of Blueblood, Pip was going to see if his card was done drying. But not before running into his aunt.
"Hello again dear nephew" she greeted him. "So, how's the special day for your mother going?" she asked, curious as to how things were going.
"So far so good" he said with a smile.
"Is everything alright? I heard yelling awhile ago" she said with a worried look.
"Yeah, Blueblood was talking bad about my mom. Don't worry I took care of it" he told her.
"What did you do…?" she asked him with a raised eyebrow.
"I used my magic to hit him in the in the family jewels" he said.
"Well, I don't approve of you being violent towards others… even if it is Blueblood" she said. "I mean, Luna might approve since she probably despises Blueblood more than any of us. But not me, understand?" she asked as she held her nephew's chin up with her hoof.
"Yes Aunt Celestia" he said.
"Good" she said. "Now go on and continue making your mother a special day" she said, rubbing his head. He nodded and headed to his room.
-Pip's room-
Pip was now in his room and when he checked on the card that he made, it was dry.
"Yes! Now I'll a card and a cake to give to mom for mother's day" Pip said with a sly smile. "But to make this to make this day special for my mom, I'll need to give her something else that she likes… but what?" he asked himself. He then remembered something that she liked. "Black roses!" he said, knowing what else to get her. He then headed out of his room and went to the flower store.
-Canterlot flower store-
Pip had made it to the flower store.
"Excuse me" he said to the flower mare that was behind the counter, getting her attention.
"Oh, hello, how may I help you?" she asked him.
"I would like to buy a bouquet of black roses for my mom" he told her. The mare then quickly got a bouquet of black roses for Pip.
"That'll be ten bits" she said. Pip reached into his saddlebag to get the correct amount of bits. "So who's your mom? Do I know her?" she asked.
"You should. Believe it or not, my mom is the princess of the night, Princess Luna" he said.
"Princess… Luna?" she said with nervousness. Like others in Canterlot, she was intimidated by Princess Luna. "Uh, you know what? You can just have those, no charge" she said.
"Really?" Pip asked.
"Yeah, the son of Princess Luna gets flowers for free. Especially since its mother's day" the mare said.
"Wow, thanks" he said, and then headed back to the castle.
-Canterlot castle-
"This is great! I made my mom a card, I'm baking a cake for her, I got her flowers, and along the way I bought her a box of chocolates" Pip said as he walked into Canterlot castle. "This is going to be best mother's day EVER! Nothing could possibly go wrong!" he said with a smile. He then went to his room and set his stuff down. He set the flowers on the bed, and the box of chocolate on his table. He then left. What he didn't realize was that he left the chocolates in the sun. Pip was then walking through the hallways.
"Prince Pip! Prince Pip!" someone shouted from behind him. He turned around to see it was the head chef.
"Chef? What's wrong?" he asked with a concerned look.
"It's the cake…" the chef said.
"What happened?" Pip asked.
"It's… burnt" he said. Pip's had a shocked and disappointed look on his face. "I'm sorry Prince Pip" the chef said with an apologetic look. Pip gave a light smile.
"It's ok, I've still got the other gifts I have for my mom" he said. Pip then went back to his room. However, when he did, he saw that the chocolates had melted all over his desk. "Oh no!" he said with worry. "No! No! No! No! No!" he said, holding the chocolates in disappointment. He sighed and threw the chocolates in the trash. "Well, at least I've still got the flowers" he said. He then grabbed the flowers in his mouth and put the card in his saddlebag. He then walked out of his room. "I may have lost the cake and the chocolates, but it can still be a good mother's day with the flowers and my card" he said, holding the flowers in his right hoof. He then went to the kitchen to go get a snack.
-The kitchen-
Pip walked into the kitchen and saw Celestia at the table.
"What are those, Pipsqueak?" his aunt asked him, noticing the flowers in his hoof.
"Flowers for my mom" he told her.
"Aww, Luna loves black roses" she said, thinking it was sweet that her nephew got his mother her favorite kind of flowers. Pip then set the flowers on the counter, used his magic to open the cabinet above him and used levitation to grab a granola bar. He was going to grab his flowers, but when he looked at them the pedals were gone.
"What the?" Pip asked with a confused look on his face. He looked up to see that the rose pedals were used to make soup. The chef that was making the soup carried the pot away. "Aw come on!" he said. He then walked away with a sad look and his ears lowered.
"Pip, what's wrong?" Celestia asked him.
"…Nothing" he said. "Excuse me for moment" he said with a little sadness in his voice as he left the kitchen. This left Celestia with a concerned look. She then decided to follow her little nephew.
-The halls-
Celestia was in the hallways searching for where her nephew might be.
"Pipsqueak?" she called his name. She was searching left and right for him. She searched his room, but he wasn't there. She searched the backyard, but he wasn't there either. She even checked the Canterlot archives where he got his magic book, but no such luck. Now she was searching the hall and she still couldn't find him. That is, until she heard little noises. She followed it and it led her to the door of the throne room. Celestia then cracked the door open slightly. What she saw made her sad on the inside. She saw that Pip was crying. "Poor Pipsqueak" she said, looking away from the scene.
"Hello Celestia" a voice said. Celestia turned her head to see it was her sister, Princess Luna. She looked at Luna with a face of concern. "What's wrong?" Luna asked her sister with equally concerned look.
"It's Pip" she replied.
"What happened? Is he alright?" Luna asked, worried about her little foal.
"He tried to plan a perfect mother's day surprise for you, but everything went wrong and now he's crying" Celestia told her.
"Oh my little colt…" Luna said with her hoof close to her mouth.
"I think you should go talk to him" Celestia suggested. Luna nodded and headed in to console her crying son. Pip was on the ground crying, his hooves over his eyes as he sobbed. Luna saw this and knelt down in front of him. She then held him in her arms, cuddling him up to her chest.
"Sweetie…" she said in calmly, nudging him lightly with her nose. Pip sniffed and looked up at his mother with tears in his eyes. She looked down at him with a warm smile. "What happened, Pip?" she asked him.
"*sniff*… Well, you see… I was trying to give you perfect mother's day" he started. Luna nodded, listening closely to what he said. "I asked the chefs to bake you a cake, but it got burned" he said.
"Oh…" she said, knowing that must've been hard.
"I got you a box of chocolates, but they melted in the sun" he told her. She had a look of pity on her face. "And I got you a bouquet of your favorite flowers, but one of the chefs accidentally cut off the pedals to make soup" he said, more tears in his eyes. He then sobbed. "And all I have left is a card that I made you. Now you'll never now how much I love you!" he said, and then cried again, crying on his mother's chest in her arms. Luna felt his sadness and held him close, nuzzling him caringly.
"There, there, Pipsqueak. I know you tried your best to make me happy" She said, nuzzling him. "But you didn't have to do all that just to show me how much you love me" she told him.
"*sniff*… I didn't?" he asked with a sob.
"No. You show me how much you love me everyday just by being a good son and by showing me what a good mother I am by letting me raise you as my own" she said, wiping the tears from his face. Pip sniffed once more.
"Mom…" he said, burying his face in her chest. The two held each other close, accepting each other's embrace.
"Is it ok if I see the card?" she asked. He looked up at her and nodded. He then looked through his saddlebag and took out his mother's day card for Luna, handing it to her. She then began to read it.
"Dear Mom,
Even though we're not related by blood, I still consider you my true mother. Because family isn't about whom you look like or whose blood you have, it's about the ponies that love and care about you enough to raise you. And that is you're my favorite princess and the best mom ever. I love you, mom. XOXO
-You're loving son, Pipsqueak"
The note read. Once she was done reading it she felt touched. "Oh Pipsqueak…" she said, emotions flowing through her. She felt her heart melt with joy and love. Now it was her turn to cry a little. She cried a little as she held her foal in a tight embrace. "Let give you some kisses" she said, and then kissed him all over his face. Once done, she nuzzled his face lovingly. A fun thought then crossed her mind. "Want to know what I love about you, Pipsqueak?" she asked with a smile.
"What?" he asked.
"I love your kind heart…" she started. "I love that cute little scarf you wear around your cute little neck…" she said, holding up his scarf in her hoof. "I love your messy little mane…" she said, rubbing the top his head. "And most of all, I love that cute little raspberry on your tummy" she said, pointing at him.
"Raspberry? What raspberry?" he asked, looking at his stomach.
"This one!" she said, tackling him to the ground. She then pressed her lips against his stomach and did a raspberry. This made him burst into uncontrollable laughter as she continued to do it.
"S-Stop! I-hi-m ticklish! Ahahahaha!" he said through laughter, tears of laughter coming out of his eyes. Luna did it one more time before stopping to let Pip catch his breath. She giggled, and then sat up, holding Pip in her arms once again.
"So what else did you do today?" she asked.
"Nothing much… unless you count me defending your honor by punching Blueblood in the family jewels" he said.
"*Gasp* you punched Blueblood in the privates?" she asked with a surprised, yet happy look.
"Mm-hm" he nodded.
"Ok, now I'm really proud of you" she said. She then set him down. "Come on, let's go get some pizza… just the two of us" she said and they walked out, walking side-by-side, smiling at each other. Celestia watched as her sister and nephew left to go spend time together.
"Hm… those two…" Celestia said with a warm smile, ending a heartwarming day.
And so ends this chapter. See you all next time in chapter 8
