Fluttershy was busy picking blueberries for her animals. She carefully dumped them into her basket. Angel impatiently sat on her back. Fluttershy looked over her shoulder. "Oh, Angel. I'm almost done," She tossed the berries into her sack that layed across her back. They went home.

Twilight was studying for the big test she had over the weekend. She grabbed all her quills, index cards, ink, books, and much more. "So the first one's on history, then science, the UGH! Sppiikkkee!" Twilight called as she dumped all her "needed" books beside her table. Spike ran into the room. "Yes, Twilight?" Twilight shoved a index card in his face. Spike pulled it off. "Uh.." Twilight sighed and picked up a quill. She dumped it in ink and grabbed back the card. She began to write. "Give this to Applejack." Spike nodded.

Applejack was bucking apples off her trees. One by one, the apples fell off. Big Mac walked out from the barn, "Good work," he said. Applejack stopped and smiled at her brother. "Thanks Mac." He walked back in just as Spike arrived. "Applejack!" He called. Applejack looked over at him. "Twilight told me to give this to you, then to pass it on to Rainbow Dash!" Spike held up the card. Applejack squinted at the small print. "Dear friends.."

"Dear friends,
I'm afraid I have some news. I won't be able to make it to Pinkie's birthday this weekend, or anything for that matter. I'm.. mo- I'm going on vacation to Canterlot, to visit my brother.. Wish me luck in my travels. I will miss you, signed, Twilight Sparkle..." The friends read aloud. Pinkie's eyes started to fill with tears. "She won't be able to make it to my pparrttyy?" Her words were jumbled. Applejack pulled off her hat and patted Pinkie on her back. "I'm sorry.." Applejack walked away. The remaining friends walked away as well, but not Pinkie. She sat still on the cold, hard ground. Her hair fell to her shoulders, and it started to rain. A puddle had formed at Pinkie's feet, and Pinkie let her first tear fall.

When the rain stopped, Pinkie was still sad. She lied still on the ground. Pinkie slowly got up, her mouth shut. She sighed, then gave it up.

Twilight had just finished packing when Fluttershy barged in. "Oh, I'm sorry, it's not a good time.. I'll just come back later.." She ducked her head. Twilight gritted her teeth and tried to figure out a way to stop Fluttershy from seeing the empty bookshelves. She smiled and pushed Fluttershy out the door. "Nope! Not a good time, come back, NEVER! Bye!" She slammed the door and sighed. Flutteshy outside gasped but then walked home. Twilight stacked all her bags and then placed her book holder on top. Spike was left holding the bag full of the elements of harmony. Twilight looked out the window. The guards were flying down. Twilight picked up the bags, then looked for her friends. None in sight. Relived, Twilight opened the door and dumped her bags on the carriage. "Come back for me," She whispered. The guards flew off.

When the guards returned, Twilight had Spike hop on her back and they hopped in the carriage, ready to go. Her friends just thought Twilight was visiting her brother, but the truth is, she was moving. As they flew, Twilight thought and thought hard about telling her friends the truth, but they already left, no use now. She sighed. Did she have everything? Of course I do, she thought, I checked the house twice before I left. But for some reason she felt worried she left something important.

Pinkie Pie was busy decorating Sugar Cube Corner for her party. "Okay, Pinkie?" Mrs. Cake asked. "You sure you got everything under control?" Pinkie nodded and Mrs. Cake left the room. Pinkie hung up some balloons. "Yellow for Fluttershy, white for Rarity, orange for Applejack, blue for Rainbow, and pink for me!" She quickly popped the purple balloon. "This WAS for Twilight, but she won't be here!" She stomped on it. She tossed it in the trash. She covered it with old banana peels then repeated the process. What she didn't know was Rarity was watching outside, but she walked in. "Sweetheart," she said. "you're taking this too hard. I missed Rainbow's party when I went to Canterlot for a meeting with Fancy Pants!" This was true and Pinkie knew it. She sighed. "But this is DIFFERENT! This is MY party! Look at my cutie mark! I'm not used to people missing MY parties!" Rarity understood, well. She knew she couldn't make Pinkie feel better, and that was that. Have a good birthday, was all Rarity said before she left.
