This is just a little story that came to my mind, my little cousin loves this show and recently I can understand why! :P This is set before Season 3 episode 10

It's Pain to Love Him

Chapter 1: Meeting Him

Princess Celestia stared at the statue of discord, which her faithful student Twilight Sparkle had been able to stop with her friends and the elements of harmony. No-one knew the truth of her feelings towards him, once she had loved him but know she didn't even know.

She knew that Discord could hear her.

"More than 1000 years ago, you were very different Discord." She spoke quietly gazing at him. This statement was very true.

More than 1000 years before

"Celestia!" Her mother called up the stairs to Celestia's room. Celestia gave a long sigh, if was better to go and see what Mother and Father wanted or else they would come and see that she had just been staring at the sun for a while, somehow she felt connected to it. Maybe the sun had something to do with her cutie mark?

Ignoring her own question Celestia began the long walk down the grand staircase to where her father and mother stood smiling at her. Her mother was as white as snow, just like her but her mane was as bright as the sun, flowing around her. Celestia's father was midnight black with having hair that shone like the stars.

Celestia had taken after her mother whilst her baby filly sister had taken after their father. Celestia was still little but she believed that one day she would rule over Equestria just like her father and mother were doing.

"Hello, Mother did you want to see me?" Celestia asked looking up at her mother with a big smile.

"Of course my dear, I have somepony to introduce you to my dear!" Her mother smiled again and moved out of the way to show a young colt that looked a few years older than her.

"Who is this, mother?"

"Why my dear this is Prince Daze" Her mother finished.

Celestia could see a very handsome young colt. He had a dark mane which was like the night, his fur coat was grey and his eyes were the strangest yellow.

"It's a pleasure to meet you Princess." Prince Daze said, bowing down. His wings were outstretched which caused a little confusion in Celestia, what did he have to hide? He must have his cutie mark and she really wanted to see it.

"Of course Prince Daze" Celestia cried bowing as well.

"Well we will let you two play outside, Filly Luna does need looking after." Her mother pushed them out the castle's doors and into the garden.

"So Prince Daze, where are you from?"

"Just call me Daze, my princess. I'm from a city to the North but I don't really want to talk about it. I'm expected to do my duties but it's hard, my mother has become very ill and I think very soon I will have to rule which is something I dread."

"Oh Daze, would you like to play Find the filly?"

"I would love to; I assume I have to find you my princess?" Daze chuckled as Celestia began to run, He could hear her gallops on the grass, Celestia was such a little bundle of joy, well for a girl.

Throughout the afternoon, the played underneath the sun laughing together chasing each other around the garden, making good memories together.

When the evening arrived, Daze and Celestia headed back to the castle, seeing who could get there first.

Prince Daze stayed a week in Canterlot and the two became very good acquaintances. An hour on the day Prince Daze was going to leave; Celestia had decided that she had wanted to find out what his cutie mark so decided to ask him about it.

"Daze, why do you hide your cutie mark underneath your wing?"

Daze sighed and his eyes wavered but he decided to tell her, she could keep a secret she was sure.

"Because I don't understand what it is, neither does my mother." He removed his wing and Celestia saw a strange cutie mark in a circle with arrows pointing around.

"Promise me, Celestia that you will not tell a soul!"

"I won't, I promise!. I don't want you to go, it's been such a fun week hasn't it?"

"Yes my princess, I will be sad when I have to go and now the time is nearing, My mother will be here to pick me up and I dare say that it's past your bed time!"

Celestia stifled a giggle and jumped onto her bed.

Daze was about to walk out when Celestia called after him.

"Daze do you know when you will be back?"

"No, my princess but one day I will return." With that Daze walked out her room towards his ill mother.

Celestia settled down in her covers, gazing out at the night, wondering when she would see her new found friend again. They had such a good time together and she couldn't wait time to spend time together again.

As Prince Daze walked down the stairs, he saw his ill mother struggling to hold herself. One of these days she was going to pass and join the great ponies that had lived before them. She would be with his father again.

He helped her into the carriage where she flopped to the floor, it was going to be a long journey back to his home.

Half a day later Prince Daze had arrived at his home and was about to climb the stairs when his mother fell to the ground. He ran to her, tears brewing in his eyes, this was it, she was about to leave.

"Mother, no! You can't not now!"

"Oh my sweetie Daze, I have been so ill, The Kingdom is now yours, please rule over it just like me and your father have done."

Daze held his mother's hoof as her chest stopped rising and falling. He had been dreading this day and he didn't know when he would ever see his princess again. He stared at the same sky, wondering if she was also staring at the sky and dreaming of a day where they would meet again but which might not even happen.
