Prologue: In the Beginning

My name is Artemas Metaxas, but they call me "Dark Moon". I'm a Tenno agent, a master of the Warframe "Ash".

I'm still getting used to this new form. I don't know where to start really. I suppose I'll start from the beginning.

It all began when the Grineer rediscovered cloning. The years of cloning developed flaws in their genetics. They were outcasts of society. Soon, a Grineer, Counselor Vay Hek, promised freedom from the Grineer oppression. Back then, their empire spread across the Galaxy. The Grineer are ruthless and will do anything to expand their empire. The Tenno used to fight for the Orokin, the wisest creatures I've ever met, but the Grineer saw them as just another weak race to be put to the slaughter. That was the start of the war. We Tenno fought as hard as we could, but the Orokin knew we couldn't win. They sent us out, to the farthest reaches of the Milky Way galaxy, to hide the Warframe technology from the hands of the Grineer. After the Grineer severed the alliance between them and the humans on earth, a company called Corpus saw it as just another way of making money. Corpus has since then taken control of some parts of the solar system's rail network, and with that, the lost Orokin artifacts. With the Tenno gone and the Orokin dead, the Grineer and Corpus still fight for control of the Orokin technology. With their fighting, there were waves of energy that got to Jupiter's core, awakening a new threat to life as we know it: The Infestation. With the Infestation growing and the war between the Grineer and Corpus escalating, the Lotus, the watcher was forced to call us, the Tenno. The ten survivors of the old war, the Warframes: Excalibur, Loki, Nyx, Frost, Rhino, Ember, Volt, Trinity, Mag, and mine: Ash.
