I hate this place. It's pitch black and severely cold. I'm just lucky I have the abilities to survive here. Any mortal even with the best tech their world could offer would die within the first few minutes here. Luckily though I'm not a mortal. My name is Desmond God of the shadows. I am six foot five, African american, I have black hair, brown eyes, I have black wings, wear all black with silver bracelets that have symbol etched into them.

I Guess I should begin my story about how I even became a god when I wasn't always one. Though however reluctant I am to do so I feel as though I should write down the events I went through for others to learn from. Well It actually started here in the shadow realm. I had just stolen from the penumbra castle and was flying away at extremely high speeds. At this time I wasn't wearing the black clothing I wore now for that is one of the things I had stolen as well as the silver bracelets which I now had on my wrist. I wore a simple white shirt, blue pants, black sandals, and a back pack that held what I had stolen.

I had gotten at least ten miles out before I heard an explosion coming from the direction of the castle. I stopped flying turned around hovering in place. From my position I could still see the castle clearly but there was a difference. Standing in front of the now half destroyed castle was a creature so huge and horrific that I can't and never will be able to be able to describe. It was looking right at me which would have scared most but I took it in stride I fear nothing.

"I WARNED YOU ONCE DESMOND NOW I WILL SHOW NO MERCY!" The monster bellowed then sprouting wings from it's back flew towards me faster than it should be able.

"Come and get me you pussy!" I yelled back at then turned back around and flew away twice a fast as I was before. That didn't do much for me because the monster was closing in and fast.

"YOU WILL NOT ESCAPE FROM ME DESMOND YOU MADE A MISTAKE OF NOT ONLY COMING HERE BUT ALSO STEALING FROM ME .PAY!"

"Can't you use your inside voice your giving me a headache!" I yelled back at him which only seemed to get him even more furious because not a second later a ball of fire shot at me which I just barely missed. "Shit you getting serious now aren't."

I dodged fire balls left and right and it was slowing me down a lot. The monster was catching up with me and quickly.

"Shit I can't keep going on like this." I thought to myself as forced myself to fly faster.

By this point the monster had decided to upgrade from fireballs to black lighting bolts which immediately hit my wings setting them on fire. I started falling fast and the monster was gaining on me.

"No, no, no it can't end like this I promised her I can't die yet." I yelled angrily knowing that if I hit the ground the monster would kill me. Unbeknownst to me though the symbols on my bracelets were beginning to glow a deep red.

The ground was closing in fast but I still felt no fear instead I closed my eyes and accepted my fate. By now the symbols on the bracelets were glowing very brightly so brightly that the light got through my eyelids. The last thing I saw when I opened my eyes was the dark, cold ground.

"What the hell." I said as I witness the dark ground disappear and get replaced with a bright blue sky. For a second I thought I was dead but I still felt wind rushing past me and my wing still hurt like a bitch. I realized I was still falling but somehow got higher and was no longer in the shadow realm seeing as I could see light. I twist my body around and found I was much, much higher in the sky so high I couldn't recognize the landscape. From what I could tell though I was falling over a forest. It was at that point that I realize I may just die but I remembered my book bag.

I face palmed. 'That would have came in handy a few seconds ago.' I thought to myself

I grabbed the book bag from my back with a firm gripped making sure the wind didn't take it. I opened it up, reached in and pulled out a pure black orb. It was cool, smooth, solid, and about the size of a baseball if not a little bigger. I gave it a hard squeeze making it making it morph and grow. It began to move up my arm then past my shoulder and so on soon it had cover my whole body save for my hands, head and wings. It felt cool on me and for a second I forgot I was free falling but remembered real quick when I crashed Into the ground and immediately blacked out.

When I woke up I was surrounded by darkness. For a second I thought I was back in the shadow realm but then I saw the moon up above and realized my mistake. I stood up slowly my joints were sore from the crash. When I was finally able to stand at full height I nearly fell from dizziness. I leaned into a tree trying to get my balance which I almost had when I heard a roar.

"ROOOOOOOAR!"

I raised an eyebrow. "What was that?" I said to myself.

I wanted to see what could make such a loud roar so I went in the direction of it. Soon I found myself in a standing just outside a small clearing hidden by a few bushes what I found was surprising there was a manticore. It was standing over a group of strangely colored ponies.

The one closest to me was purple with a dark purple mane tail with a pink highlight going through it, it also had some kind of horn sticking out of its head. Next to it were two regular looking ponies one was orange with a blond mane and put it a pony tail next to it was a pink pony with a slightly darker curly pink mane and tail. next was a white pony with a purple mane that made loopy loop it also had a horn on its head, floating over it was a was a blue pony with wings with a rainbow mane and tail. Lastly was something that kinda got me sad there was a cute yellow pony with a long pink mane and tail laying passed out right in front of the manticore.

The maticore took a step closer getting ready to pounce on its prey.

'Can't let that happen.' I thought to myself

I jumped out of the bushes with a war cry.

"FOR NARNIA!"

I took the manticore by surprise. Before it could regain it senses I ran up to it giving it a strong kick to chin making in rearing up on its hind legs before it could come back down I came forward and gave it a few jabs it the stomach knocking it down paralyzed.

"I love pressure points surprised they worked though eh what ever don't look a gift horsed in the the mouth." I said I then turned around ad looked at the ponies. my eyes were immediately drawn to the purple one who's horn was glowing purple.

"What the fu-" I was interrupted by me blacking out

When I woke up I wasn't happy. For one I was strapped down on my stomach to a bed and secondly I was nude. I really wasn't happy that they took my book bag and clothes especially the clothes I went through a lot to get them. At least my wings were bandaged though. I couldn't really get good look around but I could tell I was in a room with one door and no windows. I tried to break the straps but they much stronger than they looked they. didn't even budge and that's saying something went it's me. I started grunting with exertion trying to break my bonds. Some one must have heard me because soon I heard the door open and saw the purple pony from earlier walk in.

The purple walk forward. "H-hello there."

"Did yo just talk?" I asked in puzzlement.

"Of course I did my name is Twilight sparkle who and what are you."

'Well fuck this is weird I can't be dreaming I would know it if I was I bet this is his fault.'

"My name is Desmond and I am human African to be exact."

"Guess I owe Lyra an apology." I heard her mumble to her self

"Uh can you tell me why I'm strapped down."

"Yeah sorry about that but I couldn't risk you being a danger to any ponies."

I rolled my eyes. " Then can you tell my why I'm naked and where I am?"

She blushed at that. "Well you see your wings were damaged so we to strip you down to properly bandage them."

"OK that makes sense now location?"

"You are in ponyville eqeustria."

"Eqeustria that can't place be right there's no place on earth called eqeustria."

"Earth?"

"Well fuck isn't that some shit can you unstrap me I'm guessing since you were able to get me trapped like this so easily you wouldn't have a problem doing it again if I started acting up what are you by the way?"

She tapped her chin with her hoof in thought. "Hmm you're probably right OK for now but I can not allow you to leave the library." Her horn started glowing and the straps undid themselves she then walked away but before she walked out she walked out she said. "By the way I am a unicorn your clothes are on the dresser over there come down when your ready."

She walked out and I rolled on to my back ignoring the pain coming from my wings. "Unicorn huh alright then that explains the magic well this could be interesting." I said to myself as I got up and walked over to the dresser on the other side room.

When I got to my clothes I found they were no longer black and were normal again. I wasted no time putting on my clothes and running down stairs. I found twilight handing a scroll to some little pule and green lizard thing. It blew fire on the scroll and then walked out through the front door. Twilight was just turning around when I came up to her and talked to her in a calm voice.

"Twilight did you by any chance find a black orb?" I asked

"Yes I did why do you ask?" she responded

"Well it is mine and I would kind of like it back."

"Sorry I can not do that."

I narrowed my eyes. "What do you mean you can't do that?"

"Sorry but it was giving off high levels off dark magic to give it away would be highly irresponsible of me it could easily corrupted any pony using it."

"Twilight I went through a lot to get that orb and I would really appreciate it if you gave it back I really don't want us to end up fighting over it seeing as we just met and all and besides I'm not a pony."

"Sorry can't do that and besides you said it yourself if I had to I could put you down if need be."

By this point I was losing my patience I was not going to be denied something I was nearly killed over. "I said probably and I would like for it not come to that anyways I would like for us to be friends so I will say this on last time . !" I said that last part in the most menacing voice I could utter a voice that have brought mighty rulers to their knees but it did nothing to her she took it as if nothing.

"This mare has nerves of steel... I like it."

I was actually bluffing I couldn't attack anyone over a possession even if I nearly died for it.

"Oh calm down you'll get it back when I'm certain it will not cause any harm to any pony." She said walking away with a smug smile,

I dropped my head in defeat. Not many have noticed when I bluffed and she did it without a problem. One of two things could be happening. One she could be incredibly smart or a mind reader. I looked back at her and she had a three books levitating in front of her seemingly reading them at the same time.

"I guess she a nerd then well that sucks I always wanted to meet another mind reader."

I looked around the room and noticed I was surrounded by books.

"must be a library."

"Hey twilight could you tell me about your world well at least the basics so I can you know live here and all."

She looked up from her books with a gleam in her eye.

"I feel I have made a grave mistake"

Three hours. She lecture me for straight hours. Well I guess it was worth it I found out there are four races of pony alicorn, pegasus, earth pony, and unicorn. Also that the two rulers apparently raise the sun and the moon. I had no comment on that just let her keep on talking. Anyways now I walking with her to some unknown location at night with no I no idea why.

"Where are we going?" I asked

"To the sugar cube corner." she told me

"And what is that exactly."

"A bakery."

"Cool so why do I have to go and what type of bakery is open at night?" I asked

"You're going because I want you to and to answer your second question this one does."

I rolled my eyes. " Oh yeah what was that lizard thing I saw earlier?"

She seemed to get upset by that question. "That was spike my number 1 assistant and he is not a lizard he is a baby dragon." she said in an annoyed tone.

"Well sor-" I stopped talking as I looked at the building in front of me. "OK what the fuck." In front of me stood a giant ginger bread house. Not even fucking around the thing looked completely edible I probably would have tried to eat it if it weren't common sense. Anyways twilight motioned for me to follow her which didn't make any sense since there were no lights coming from the windows but I still followed.

Just as suspected when we walked in there were no lights well at lest for the first two second there weren't. The light turned on to reveal a room full of ponies.

"SUUUUURPRISE" They all yelled then gained a shocked look on their face as they realized I wasn't a pony. They just stared at me either to scared to scream or just in shock. Me on the other hand was about to walk back out. Which I would have had not the pink earth pony from come running up to me with a large smile.

She jumped on me nearly causing me to fall but I caught myself before I fell and she somehow clung to me. "HII'MPINKIEPIETHISISYOURTHANKYOU FORSAVINGUSFROMAMANTICORESUR PRISEPARTYWEREYOUSURPRISEDHU HHUHHUH!?" She said so quickly I just barely could understand what she asked.

She was all up in my face so I had to lean back a bit before I answered her. "Yes." I said plainly which seemed to be enough for her cause she jumped off of me with and disappeared into the crowd. To tell the truth I wasn't really surprised but I wanted to be polite.

The crowd of ponies quickly surrounded me and pelted me with questions of all kinds like "What are you?", "How did you beat a manticore?", and "What's your name?". I tried answering questions but I couldn't get one word in without getting bombarded with more. Eventually I got annoyed so I took A deep breath and said."

"SHUT UP." I was immediately responded to by complete silence. "I can see you all have question but can I sit down first I'll answer any question you have unless I do not want to answer them." I didn't wait for any type of agreement from the crowd. I walked over to a booth and sat down twilight sat next to me. The ponies crowded around the booth.

I cleared my throat. "OK who's first." Everyone raised their hooves. I was surprised they didn't start yelling again. Then again they weren't very scared of me when they saw me. I looked through the crowd and pointed to a blue mare with a pink mane. "Ask away."

"Yes well my name is lotus and I'd like to what happened to your wings."

"Ah yes well to answer that question I'll say never get hit with black lightning never ends well." She seemed confused by that I didn't care. Next I pointed to a magenta earth pony mare with pink and light pink striped mane. "You

"Well uh my name is cheerilee and I want to know what are you exactly." She asked.

"Simple enough I am a human African american to be precise."

She seemed to be taken by surprise by my answer "But you have wings."

"I KNEW IT!" I heard someone yell from the back of the crowd. Everyone turned to face a mint green unicorn mare with a white and mint green mane and tail. She looked smiled sheepishly. "Uh sorry."

"Yeah so anyways I'm a... special type of human."

"What that's suppose to mean."

"So next question." I said not wanting to answer that certain question mainly because I was ashamed of it the answer. the ponies raised their hooves. This time I pointed to a little orange pegasus filly with a purple mane and tail.

Thankfully she didn't press on the what am I matter "How did you beat the manticore." She said excitedly

"Oh that it was simple really all I had to do was kick it in the chin hard enough to put it on it hind legs long enough to jab a few pressure point paralyzing it for a few hours it should be fine now."

Everyone looked at me with jaws on the floor.

"What?" I shrugged "Can I get a drink?" I asked

A second later the pink pony pinkie pie was in front me with a mug sitting on her head.

I raised an eyebrow. "Cool." I took a sip. "MMMM what is this?"

"Hard cider." She responded

"Cool." I put it down deciding to drink the rest later. "Hey uh if this is suppose to be a party where the music."

A look of realization found its way on her face. she turned around and yelled. "VINYL!" A second later music came on on and the ponies stopped crowding around me and went on to dance and what not. Except for the mint green pony who came trotting up to me along with a tan earth pony mare with a pink and purple fluffy mane and tail.

"Hello I'm Lyra and this is my marefriend bonbon are you really a human with wings?"she asked

"Yep."

"Told humans exist bonbon."

The mare next to her spoke back and a slightly annoyed tone. "Yes I can see that I said I was sorry didn't I."

"Yes because i was right." The mint green mare gloated. The other rolled her eyes in annoyance. "Oh can you tell me about your species like what you eat, wear, and do and stuff."

"Yeah sure why not but not right now later you can stop by the library since that where I'm staying now."

"Oh OK then bye." with that her and her marefriend walked off disappearing into the crowd.

I turned to twilight who was looking at me funny. "What?"

"How can you talk about beating a manticore like it's no big deal!?" She said in amazement

I shrugged "I've done a lot of things in my life that manticore was like one of the less dangerous things I've been up against but between you and me it a bit more strength then it should have taken to kick that thing so high up."

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU'VE FOUGHT MORE DANGEROUS THINGS!" She yelled good thing the music was blaring or all eyes would be on us.

"I mean what I say have you ever met a werewolf?" I asked

"Uh no wait you have."

"Yeah they are incredibly mean well most of them but that's a story a story for another day."

She looked like was going to respond but was interrupted by a the blue pegasus from earlier landed next to her.

"Twilight you'll never guess what just happened." She said

"Uh what happened?"She asked

"I saw spike- oh hey." She said when she noticed me. " Thanks for saving us my names rainbow dash fastest flier in eqeustria whats your name."

I was going to answer but twilight interrupted me.

"Rainbow what about spike?"

"Oh yeah." She said tapping her chin with her hoof in contemplation. "I forget so anyways how fast can you go with does wings?"She asked completely unaware or just ignoring the fact that twilight looked like she was going to explode.

I was still going to answer though but I was interrupted agian. This time by the orange earth pony.

"Twilight yall won't believe what I jus saw spike- Hey ain't that feller who saved us." She said in a southern accent.

Twilight opened her mouth to say something but I interrupted her before she could utter a word.

"Yes I am my name is Desmond who are you." I asked extending a hand to shake which she did roughly.

"My name is applejack owner of sweet apple acres nice to meet ya." She said still shaking my hand.

"APPLEJACK!" Twilight yelled

"Yes sugarcube."

"What did you spike doing."

"Oh uh I forget."

Twilight eye twitched then she dropped her head to the table.

"Well that was interesting." I said picking up my mug and taking a sip the hard cider. "Applejack you would happen to need any workers down at sweet apple acres would you?"

She looked surprised by the question but still answered "As a matter a fact we do why ya askin'." I would like to point out she was now sitting across from me in the booth.

"Well in my few hours here I've come to the realization that I am going to need a job to support myself if I am going to be living here."

"Well alright then we'll talk bout it later for now let's enjoy this little shindig."

I nodded and picked up my mug and drank the rest of the cider. "whew that's good stuff."

"Twilight darling you will not believe what I just saw spike- Oh my aren't you that creature that saved us from that dreadful manticore oh and my name is rarity." said the white unicorn mare from earlier

Twilight head shot up when she heard spike. "Wait, wait what about spike." she asked desperately.

"Huh oh yes what was it oh my I've seen to forgotten." She smiled sheepishly.

Twilight had enough. "I've had enough I'll go see what going on with him myself." She got of her seat and left.

"What's got her so mad." Said rainbow.

I shrugged

The night went on pretty well. Rarity asked about earths fashion to which I told her I didn't really keep track which seemed to upset her a bit. Rainbow asked for a race after my wings healed to which I agreed and twilight eventually came back after finding out from pinkie that spike went home and not finding out what he was doing. Now I was back at the library with twilight getting ready to go to sleep.

"Twilight when do you think you'll be finished with my orb."

"It should be done by saturday."

"What's today Wednesday."

"OK then goodnight I guess I'm sleeping in the room I woke up in."

"Yes you will goodnight."

with that I found the room and went straight to sleep. That night I didn't have good dreams.
