"Rainbow? I've been meaning to ask you, I hope you don't find this rude, but if you're an alicorn, where's your horn?" Applejack questioned.

"No it's fine. As for your question, I keep my horn hidden with magic so that I don't stand out." Answered Rainbow Dash.

"That makes sense" Said Rarity, nodding.

"Besides," Rainbow continued. "From what I saw earlier, Nightmare Moon has no idea who my mom is. I can use this to my advantage, my magic will be my secret weapon if something happens."

"That's a good plan Rainbow." Twilight agreed, thinking they'll need every advantage they have.

"Thanks Twi." Said Rainbow Dash

They continued walking until they got to a stream.

"How are we gonna cross this? "Asked Pinkie Pie as she looked at the raging rapids. None of them knew the answer. They were about to think of a way, when they heard a distant cry.

" Huh?" Said Pinkie Pie.

They followed the sound of the cries, when suddenly, they saw a monster...crying.

"What a world, what a world." sobbed the monster

Twilight Sparkle trying to be polite, and asked, "Excuse me, sir. Why are you crying?"

"Well, I don't know. I was just sitting here, minding my own business, when this tacky little cloud of purple smoke just whisked past me and tore half of my beloved mustache clean off, and now I look simply horrid!" The monster explained, wailing.

"Oh, give me a break." Said Rainbow Dash. The monster reminded her a bit too much like an arrogant noble who had to look 'perfect', or else he wouldn't go out.

"That's what all the fuss is about? " Said a deadpan Applejack.

"Why, of course it is! How can you be so insensitive? Oh, just look at him. Such lovely luminescent scales. "Says Rarity, in a slightly awed voice.

"I know." He sniffed

" And your expertly coiffed mane." She continued.

"Oh, I know, I know. " He said.

"Your fabulous manicure." She said.

"It's so true!" He gasped.

"All ruined without your beautiful mustache. " She said sadly

"It's true, I'm hideous!" He cried once again.

"I simply cannot let such a crime against fabulosity go uncorrected." She said determinately as she walked up to the creature.

"What did you do that for?" It yelp as she pulled off a scale and raised it up.

"Rarity, what are you-" Twilight questioned before she saw her cut her tail off causing the creature to faint at the sight of it. Gently, she used her magic to bind her tail on to the creature where his mustache would have been.

"Oh-hohohoho! My mustache. How wonderful." The Monster exclaimed in glee after waking up to se his mustache.

"You look smashing." Said Rarity.

"Oh, Rarity, your beautiful tail..." Said Twilight, feeling a bit bad.

"Oh. It's fine, my dear. Short tails are in this season. Besides, it'll grow back." She said with a wince.

"So would the mustache." Muttered Rainbow Dash

"We can cross now. Let's go. Ah!" Twilight said, as she started to cross.

"Allow me." Said the monster, lifting them on to his back.

"There it is, the ruin that holds the Elements of Harmony. We made it! " Said Twilight, running ahead with Rainbow Right behind her.

"Twilight, wait for us!" Said Applejack

"We're almost there." She said, getting closer before... " Whoa!" She was now halfway off of the cliff.

"What's with you and falling off cliffs today?" Joked Rainbow Dash as she pulled Twilight up by the tail.

"I don't know" Moaned Twilight.

"Now what?" Pinkie sighed, seeing the bridge was out

"Duh." Said Rainbow Dash, fluttering her wings a bit.

"Oh yeah." Said Pinkie.

Rainbow quickly dived down, before coming back up with the rope in her mouth and landing on the other side.

"Rainbow..." Whispered a mysterious voice.

"Who's there?" Rainbow asked, a little creeped out.

"Rainbow..." It said again.

"Rainbow Dash!"

"I ain't scared of you! Show yourself!" Said Rainbow Dash, rearing up for a fight.

"We've been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the best flyer in Equestria." The Leader of the group stated.

"Who?" Rainbow Dash questioned,

"Why, you, of course." It said as if it was obvious.

"Really?! I mean... Oh yeah, me. Hey, uh, you wouldn't mind telling the Wonderbolts that, would ya? 'cause I've been trying to get into that group for like, ever. " She said.

Rainbow Dash had wanted to be in the Wonderbolts, but her mother would never let her, and while she was in Ponyville, she had to work in order to pay back Fluttershy. Besides, the Wonderbolts worked directly under the Princess, so if she ever got in, she would be caught.

"No, Rainbow Dash. We want you to join us, The Shadowbolts. We're the greatest aerial team in the Everfree Forest, and soon we will be the greatest in all Equestria, but first, we need a captain. The most magnificent- "The leader started.

"Yep." Rainbow said her ego inflating.

"Swiftest-" It continued.

"Yes. "She responded.

"Bravest flyer in all the land." She continued.

"Yes, it's all true. " She chuckled.

"We need... you." Said the leader.

"WOOHOO! Sign me up. Just let me tie this bridge real quick, and then we have a deal." She said momentarily forgetting her mission as she went to tie the rope.

"No! It's them or us." Screamed the leader, getting in Rainbow's way.

"Rainbow, what's taking so long? Oh no. Rainbow! Don't listen to them." Said Twilight seeing the Shadowbolts worrying for her princess

"Well?" Asked the Leader.

"You... Thank you! For the offer, I mean, but I'm afraid I have to say no. I have a kingdom to save and a mother to find." Replied Rainbow Dash remembering why she was here, confusing the Shadow ponies as she tied off the last of the rope.

The others cheered once they saw Rainbow Dash come back.

"See? I'd never leave my friends hangin'." Said the Rainbow-maned Princess.
