NOW ON TO THE STORY!

Everything was calm in Ponyville.

NOT.

The news of who Bright really was spread like wild fire and soon, almost every pony was trying to get closer. They could not believe that Bright, the tough as nails weather pony, was actually Princess Rainbow Dash; but the moment Princess Celestia called her Rainbow Dash, it was confirmed Bright was the princess, as hard as it was to believe.

"So Rainbow, would you like to introduce me to your new friends?" Asked Celestia.

"Sure mom, I'd love to." replied Rainbow Dash, who walked over to her friends. "Let me introduce you to my friends. Well first, this is Fluttershy." She said, pointing to the shy yellow mare who bowed her head at the princess. "She's the one that I've been staying with, and who patched me up after I crashed."

"CRASHED?" Asked a horrified Celestia, terrified that her daughter had crashed.

"Hehe... Yeah, I crashed and broke a rib or two." Rainbow replied sheepishly, rubbing the back of her neck. "...but don't worry, I'm fine now!" She added quickly, once seeing the look on her mother's face. "Anyway, this is Pinkie Pie. She works at the resident sweet shop and throws great parties." She continued as she pointed at her bright pink friend. "She gave me a party to welcome me to Ponyville." Pinkie quickly bowed after a nudge from Rarity.

"And this is Rarity." Rainbow said, as she stopped in front of her high class friend, who curtsied. "It's ironic she actually forced me to keep my manners up, since it was ingrained into me. I talked to her like you taught me to talk to nobles."

"And last but not least, this is Applejack." She said as she slung her arm over her friend's shoulder who felt completely out of place standing in front of royalty. Applejack quickly bowed hoping not to anger the monarch. "She's one of the most hard working ponies I know."

"It's very nice to meet my daughters friends." Said Celestia while looking over them, mentally evaluating each.

"Now lets see the yellow one, Fluttershy. I believe I owe her for helping Rainbow so much, plus she seems very kind. Pinkie Pie seems nice as well if a little hyperactive, but at least she could keep up with Rainbow's get-up-and-go ways. Rarity...hmm, seems to have all the poise and manners of a noble but none of the faults of those born privileged. She'll help Rainbow keep her manners. Now Applejack, she seems to be good friend material as well, and from what Rainbow said, knows the value of hard work. That's quite rare in Canterlot. All in all, they look like a nice bunch-if a little weird, but I guess that's the fun of it."

"HEY BRI- I mean RAINBOW DASH! Hey, Rainbow!" They all turned to look, and saw a small Pegasus filly who was climbing up the stage with the help of an earth pony and a unicorn.

Celestia watched in amusement as the young filly finally made it up the side of the stage and went back and helped her friends up as well. She turned and quickly ran to her daughter and started nuzzling herself against her.

"B-Rainbow is it true, you really are the Princess?" Asked Scootaloo while she nuzzled into Rainbow's chest, hoping it was just some elaborate prank.

"Yeah, its true squirt." Said Rainbow, who started nuzzling back.

Scootaloo quickly moved away and looked down at the floor, sad and down trodden. She and Rainbow Dash had gotten extremely close the last few months. They usually spent the day together after Rainbow finished work with either Rainbow teaching her to fly, telling her stories, or just hanging out around town.

In fact, Scootaloo had started thinking of Bright as her own mother, especially since her own mother-along with her her father, had abandoned her when she failed to fly for the first time. But now Bright wasn't Bright any more, she was a Princess. She wouldn't want to hang out with some stay filly. After all, royalty didn't interact with commoners, let alone street scum like her.

"I'm sorry Princess, I shouldn't haven't done that." Whispered Scootaloo with tears threatening to fall out of her eyes as she began to walk away.

"Hey-hey Scoots, where are you going ?" Rainbow asked. Like Scootaloo, she began thinking of her as her own daughter, so when she saw the tears in her eyes she was worried. Rainbow caught up with her fairly quickly and asked, "Hey squirt, where are you going? I haven't seen you all day, and why are you crying?"

"It's nothing Princess" She said.

"It's not nothing! Now tell me, please." Rainbow pleaded, looking into the filly's eyes.

Finally giving up, Scootaloo broke out into tears and cried. "Your a princess. That means you can't hang out with me or take care of me anymore, and I don't want you to leave me!"

Understanding what Scootaloo was sad about, Rainbow Dash pulled the sobbing filly as close as she could and wrapped her wings around her.

"There, there don't worry squirt! I won't go anywhere and if I do, I'll bring you along, I promise." She soothed.

Scootaloo looked up with hope in her eyes and in her heart " You mean it?" She asked.

"Yeah I do." Rainbow replied, looking down at the filly. She'd made the biggest decision she ever made in her young life. "After all, its not very responsible of a mother to leave her child behind."

Scootaloo looked at her with confusion and a bit of longing. "Does that mean...what I think it means?" She asked hesitantly.

"Yeah Scoots, it does. It means I'm going to adopt you." Rainbow Dash said to her.

Scootaloo burst out crying, but this time it was tears of joy. The others who had been watching the exchange couldn't help but shed a few tears as well.

Rainbow Dash lead Scootaloo towards Celestia and said, "Hey mom let me introduce you to your new granddaughter, Scootaloo".

Celestia suddenly hugged them both, happy her family had grown by a small bit. "Its good to meet you my little Scootaloo! My name is Celestia, but you can call me grandma."

Scootaloo, who had been a bit worried hugged back and said, "It's good to meet you to...grandma."

They all hugged for a few minutes before Twilight noticed the time.

"Excuse me Princess, I hate to break up such a lovely reunion, but the sun is due to rise in ten minutes." Twilight said a bit hesitantly, still a little scared of the imposing figure that was the Sun Princess.

"Ah, your right Twilight Sparkle... well my little ponies, shall we go to the city hall? (A.N I think that's where it was held)'' Said a slightly embarrassed Celestia.

Every pony nodded and started making their way to the city hall, Celestia choosing to teleport to get ready, Rainbow Dash deciding to sit with her friends instead of with her mother, seeing as she wasn't use to the attention.

When they finally got there, everypony had been seated and was ready. Mayor Mare got up and said, "Welcome ponies to this year's sun rising festival. This certainly has been a...memorable one " She said, throwing a glance to Rainbow Dash. "In just a few moments, our town will witness the magic of the sunrise, and to celebrate this, the longest day of the year! And now, it is my great honor to introduce to you the ruler of our land, the very pony who gives us the sun and the moon each and every day, the good, the wise, the bringer of harmony to all of Equestria...Princess Celestia!"

But when the curtain slid away, there was no one there.

"Mom?"

"Where is she?"

"She was just here!"

"Is she hiding?"

Whispers rang out as ponies tried to figure out what happened. Suddenly, a shadowy figure appeared in the middle of the stage.

"Oh, my beloved subjects. It's been so long since I've seen your precious, little sun-loving faces. " Said the mysterious figure. She was an alicorn, but unlike Celestia or Rainbow Dash, she was pure black and gave off a cold, evil aura.

Twilight immediately knew who it was. It's what she had been worried about for so long. "Oh no... Nightmare Moon!"

Rainbow Dash flew up with speeds unmatched. "What did you do with my mom?!" She yelled.

Nightmare Moon just chuckled, not catching what she said. "Why, am I not royal enough for you? Don't you know who I am?"

Nopony knew the answer.

"Does my crown no longer count now that I have been imprisoned for a thousand years? Did you not recall the legend? Did you not see the signs?" She asked, as if she was offended.

Twilight walked up and said, "I did, and I know who you are. You're the Mare in the Moon – Nightmare Moon!"

Every pony gasped as the declaration was made, even Rainbow Dash who had studied Mare in the Moon while at the palace.

Nightmare Moon bust out in an evil cackle. "Well, well, well, somepony who remembers me. Then you also know why I'm here."

"You're here to... to..." Rainbow stuttered.

"Remember this day, little ponies, for it was your last. From this moment forth, the night will last forever!" Declared Nightmare Moon.
