Chapter 24: Wonderbolt Academy Part 3

Summary: Harry's week with Spitfire and various wonderbolts has had the effect Celestia was hoping for. But danger lurks as Spitfire names Lead and Wing Ponies.

"Why did you make Lightning Dust a Lead Pony?" Harry asked Spitfire as he spied her official documents regarding team line ups. She had teamed up Lightning Dust and Rainbow Dash because she thought the two could learn from each other. Not because they where the fastest. Rainbow Dash was fast enough to be a Wonderbolt when she completed the training, but she played it safe too much. She needed to take risks now and then. Lightning Dust on the other hand...Well Harry had watched her during the week and he wasn't impressed with the mare.

"They can both learn from each other squirt." Spitfire said to the foal as he sipped a Zippy Cola from a straw in his can. Regular not diet. He as an alicorn burned enough calories daily and as a growing colt that he wouldn't need worry about dieting for years to come. "Rainbow Dash has what it takes all right but she needs to learn to take risks."

"There's a difference between being a risk taker and being plain reckless." Harry muttered remembering the Dizzytron excersize. She had had no idea what that thing would do to her or the ponies around her if something went wrong. And then he thought she should have been reprimanded when she and Rainbow Dash had forced their way through the obstacle course and displaced their classmates. After all, not every pegasus was as fast as them. They needed to understand that.

"True, but that's what Lightning Dust needs to learn on her own." Spitifire told the colt as she put the files in a folder on her desk. "Come on squirt, lunch time."

Why do I have a bad feeling about this? Harry asked himself as he and Spitfire left to get some lunch before the afternoon excersizes and Harry's final afternoon session.

"You've made some marvelous improvement in your week here." Harry's therapist said as she looked over her notes. "Your not having Night Terrors as often?"

"Not since you told me to try clearing my mind before bed." Harry said eagerly. "I haven't felt this good in weeks!" The colt ran around the room energetically.

"And the panic attacks?" Open Ears asked her paitient. The pegasus reading her notes about the attacks when exposed to insects.

"Saw a ladybug yesterday and didn't even hear changeling noises." Harry smiled at her.

"This is our final session while you are here for the weekend. Would you like to schedule an extra appointment?"

"I think I'm good for now." The colt said eagerly. "I can't wait to go bug hunting with Snips and Snails again."

Open Ears smiled at the foals eagerness. He had some good friends in Ponyville. "Even so I suggest continuing with your therapy back home in Ponyville. I'll send a copy of my notes to the Princess to give to whoever she chooses to be your therapist."

"Thank you Doctor Open Ears." Harry said happily giving the mare a hug. "Bye. Thanks for everything!"

"Your most certainly welcome your highness."

Harry groaned as he left hearing that and Open Ears smiled.

"What in the world?" Harry asked to himself as he saw the ponys on the ground. Then he saw Rainbow Dash and Lightning Dust in the air making a large Tornado. "I knew making Lightning Dust Lead Pony was a bad idea." He said making a fist with his hoove. He ran up to Spitfire. "See? This is what happens when you make a reckless pony the Lead Pony." Harry told the older mare. She was watching in horror as the two where creating an out of control tornado. "Rainbow Dash would never do something like this! This has to be the work of Lightning Dust!"

Then he and Rainbow Dash saw the Worst. Possible. THING! Twilight's hot air balloon. With Harry's mother and their friends inside! Rainbow Dash sped off in an instant after seeing the balloon snap away from the basket with the ponies inside. The group shrieked in terror.

Harry lit up his horn with magic and a bolt of lightning struck his horn. Pegasus saw his muslces in his wings bulge. He sped off too. His wings flipping faster than a humming bird. He and Rainbow Dash zoomed around a group of clouds gathering them in a group and thickening them up with pegasus magic, Harry leaving a black trail and Rainbow Dash leaving a Rainbow colored trail. The mares bounced off the clouds and back up into the air. They where caught by various Wonderbolts. Rarity hugging her black coated savior. Fluttershy quickly leapt out of her mare saviors arms and her wonderbolt put her hooves on her hips irritably.

"Are you guys okay?" Rainbow Dash asked in a panicked tone.

"Uh huh." The mares groaned as they group hugged.

"Momma!" Harry ran up to the mare who raised him and gave her a big hug.

"You remember me?" Pinkie Pie asked Rainbow Dash after the mare asked her if she was okay.

"Of course I do. Its only been a week." Rainbow Dash said with a grin. "But what are you guys doing here?"

"We came to give ya a care package." Applejack said in her son's death grip. She eased him off and ruffled his mane. "Didn't realize you'd be in some crazy tornado drill.

"That was AWESOME!" Came the voice of Lightning Dust as she came through the crowd of cadets.

BAM! Harry flew at her and punched her square in the face.

The mares of their group and Rainbow Dash winced. They'd never seen the foal this angry before. He panted as he fluttered down to the ground.

"LIGHTNING DUST." Harry said in an authorative tone. "AS THE CROWN PRINCE OF EQUESTRIA, I HEARBY BANISH YOU FROM WONDERBOLT ACADEMY, SWEET APPLE ACRES AND THE ROYAL PALACE. IF YOU ARE SEEN ON ANY OF THESE PROPERTIES YOU WILL BE ARRESTED FOR TRESPASSING BY THE ROYAL GUARD."

"That's the Royal Canterlot Voice." Twilight said in awe at the smaller foal.

"Sugarcube." Applejack said in awe as well. It seems he's getting more comfortable with his authority as the Crown Prince.

"Isn't that a bit harsh kid?" Rainbow Dash asked.

"Absolutely not." Harry growled at the green mare. "She has no remorse for any of her actions this week. She sent half of your class into serious tailspins on the obstacle course, takes no consideration into the safety of others and to top it all off she nearly got my mother and our friends killed!"

"But so did I." Rainbow Dash told the foal in protest.

"No Dash. You had no choice but to follow your Lead Pony." Harry told his best female friend. "She on the other hand had every opportunity NOT to do any of those things!" He panted in anger. "LEAVE MY SIGHT NOW." Harry ordered Lightning Dust.

"Pack your things and leave Lightning Dust." Spitfire said with a growl standing next to Harry and Rainbow Dash. She walked up to the mare and snatched her Lead Pony badge and swapped it out on Rainbow Dash's uniform. "Now."

"You'll regret this one day Spitfire." Lightning Dust threatened as she headed for the Barracks. "All of you. Especially you twerp." She growled under her breath. Glaring at the Crown Prince as he glared back.

"Let this be a lesson to you all." Spitfire told her cadets. "Being a Wonderbolt IS about being the best flier you can be. But that means nothing if its at the expense of our fellow ponies." She pinned the Lead Pony badge to Rainbow Dashes uniform who saluted her.

Rainbow Dash turned to her fellow cadets and saluted. They saluted back and Spitfire blew her whistle. The pegasus flew into the air for drills.

"WAIT!" Pinkie Pie shouted. "YOU DIDN'T EVEN GET TO OPEN YOUR CARE PACKAGE!"

End of Wonderbolt Academy...

So Harry is now more comfortable in his position of authority. Any character progression for him in this arc that you guys find significant? Just curious to know.

The opening for after the Return of Harmony Arc should be Paper Moon from Soul Eater. With Nightmare Spectre obviously taking the role of Black Blood. I will be exploring more about the Nightmares in the royal line at a later arc.
