A lot of the circuitry was offline due to Discord's drain the shield trick. Computers had to be replaced and Hicks ordered everything into shield systems.
They'd most likely encounter worse things than the entity of Chaos while zooming through the galaxy. So now everything is getting refitted.

There adding another 7 feet to the outer hull, 20 more plasma turrets, and another shield coating. Basically they make the invincible ship more invincible. If that wasn't enough they are adding another hanger just for the new MKIV Seraphs.

Well Hicks and the crew offloaded for a vacation. In the short month they've been attacked by rebel fleets, travelled to 3 different worlds, stopped Discord from ahem chaosing Reach, blasted 2 people with the elements of Harmony, and lost there captain. Overall it was a good run. Hicks's personal job was to choose a new captain. One who won't abuse there power, one who will listen to orders, and one who won't destroy everything with the super powered vessel.

Morgan's funeral was scheduled in a few weeks; enough time to build a memorial.
Most of the crew chose to stay onboard but the Mane six decided they wanted to see the
home world of the people who almost destroyed there's. So guess who got stuck with that job?

Earth, Rio de Janeiro

"Goddamit!" Church yelled.

Church and Simmons were assigned tour duty to show the new 'immigrants' around Earth's capital city. Church was driving a cerulean civilian warthog around Rio. The largest structure in town was the Space elevator. It towered over the city going into space. It transported weapons to the orbital platforms for ship construction.
Rio was known for its deck guns and plasma repeaters.

The warthog drove onto the highway that circled Alpha base. Alpha base was the primary UNSC facility on Earth. It also served as the capital building.
Simmons explained all of this to the mane six.

Factories lined from the commercial district to the Christo redentor. These were refineries for recycled metal, construction for ship parts, and technology factories for phones, laptops, weapons, etc. On the coast was the shipyards. The shipyards constructed starships such as the iconic UNSC frigates and destroyers that make up the fleet. All of these structures ran off of a combination of Solar, wind, and nuclear fusion energy.
About 2 miles from the east side of the city was the Blu bird sanctuary. The UNSC heavily fortified it with 2 walls and about 40 Mass drivers.

Residential areas were in the north part of Rio. That includes stores such as Blu macaw books and some restaurants. Wall-mart and Meijer. Most of the residential area was apartment complexes. A small 1X3 mile area is reserved for VIPs who have actual houses. Hicks owns a house.

The warthog pulled off of the highway and went into the museum area.
Just by Alpha base and under the many highway systems is the natural and historical
museums. Most monuments on Earth are displayed in Alpha's courtyard.

"Well here's a museum. Enjoy." Church said unenthusiastically.

The mane six were escorted by Simmons into the museum of Natural history.

UNSC Alpha base

Hicks had a mountain of paper work on his computer. Most of it was informing him that some of the Infinity crew was getting moved. Karen his stepmom and helmsmen was getting moved to the destroyer the Ravage. Logan got his old job back and was working on some sort of improvement on the universe traveling device. Anthony was possibly getting court marshaled for the drugs he smuggled out of the fallout universe. Not many people had the right experience to be on the Infinity so they were moved. Azure is reporting that they are staying aboard. Tom is remaining the armory officer. But the bridge crew was all gone. Everyone was reassigned. Purple is also staying aboard. Samborn is giving up the military and moving into an apartment in downtown Rio.

Now it was Hicks' job to get a new bridge crew together. He had interviewed 20 captains of 20 different high level ships but none had the experience for the Infinity. Hell Morgan didn't have the experience and Hicks had pulled a few strings to get her to be the captain.

Yet he still couldn't find anyone. He wished that the brilliant tactician Jacob Keyes was still alive. Hicks would have been honored just to have met the man who single handedly destroyed 3 covenant ships at the battle of Sigma Octanus-IV.
He even tried a few Spartans... Kelly, Fred they were experienced troops not naval captains.

Good news is he found a communications officer. Elizabeth Johnson. She was the comms officer for the UNSC destroyer Memory is the Key. At least before it had its accident. Memory is the Key suffered an AI failure and the AI known as Moses went Rampant and crashes the ship into a nearby asteroid. Half the crew including the captain was killed. Elizabeth took control of the survivors and used a plasma pistol to fry Moses's chip. This act got her a colonial cross: the most prestigious medal in the fleet.

He had also gotten a Science officer. A sangheli named Shar De' Yeh. He had been on the frigate Hasta la Vista Baby when it engaged the rebel ship Twilight Darkness. He turned the tide of the battle by inserting RSN into the plasma torpedoes. Twilight Darkness didn't know what hit it.

A helmsman had also been assigned. Ensign Royce O'Brian. He had served with Hicks during the Covenant war. On the Cruiser Sword in the stone. The ensign had saved the entire crew from a Covenant Destroyer.

The destroyer was bearing down on the Sword in the stone her hull boiling away from plasma hits.

"HULL BREACH REACTOR READ LINING!" The head engineer yelled.

The view screen was cracked the Destroyer filled the screen. It's massive glassing port was charging.

Blood trickled down the captain's head.

"Sir, I have a solution!" O'Brian yelled.

"DO IT!" The captain's voice echoed through the bridge.

"MAC NOW! TARGET THE GLASSING PORT!"

"MAC is offline."

"Fire everything!"

Archer missiles and Nukes streaked towards the glowing spot on the prow of the destroyer. It impacted and the port exploded with fire and energy. The destroyer was destroyed.

The whole bridge erupted in cheer.

"Quick thinking O'Brian."

He saluted. "Yes sir!"
Hicks looked through the logs.

"Damn I'm old!" He said.

Yet no one good enough to be captain.

"We gather here today in the remembrance of Captain Morgan Mason of the UNSC Infinity." Hicks started off. "Of all the people in the world... Hell in the universe. She was the one. And Discord had to take her away from me."

A tear fell from his face.

Memorial field. A place for great people. A memorial for the Keyes family, Hood was buried here, the Spartans that had died, Johnson, and in the very center was a huge marble statue of Earth on the engraving it said 'For those who fought to save her and those who lost there lives and those who sacrificed everything for her.'

The ponies, Aqua and Purple teams, Azure ops, John, Samborn, Nacho, and the entire
active crew of the UNSC Infinity stood around the newest addition to memorial field. Every captain, Admiral, General and hero ended up in memorial field.

"She was a good woman but not just that. She had a fighting spirit. She was stubborn and she would never give up without a fight! Remember humanity is not invincible. We may live until we are killed. We may be the uniting force in the galaxy. But we are not impervious to death."

Hicks walked over to the marble tombstone. UNSC standard tombstones could open up to put things into for remembrance. He opened it up. He slid his hand into his pocket and pulled out a Nuka Cola bottle cap and placed it in the tombstone.

Hicks nodded to Aqua and Azure who stood on either side of the crowd holding DMRs.

"Present arms!" Sierra ordered.

In unison both groups fired off the DMRs.

The last time Hicks saw his father was when he spent a few months in his basement when he came home from the Covenant war 200 years ago. Since then Jeff Hicks rejoined the UNSC but in the navy instead of a Marine. He was currently serving on the UNSC Wrath of Ares... His service record showed that he was very decorated with multiple commemorations. Prisoner of war, purple heart, Navy commendations, etc. He served as the second in command fighting resistances and threats to the welfare of the UNSC and the USSC.

UNSC Wrath of Ares
Epsilon Indi system

The UNSC Wrath of Ares is an Infinity-II class vessel. Each of the four Infinity's were the beginning of a class. Golden Night was an Infinity-III and the Infinity was an Infinity-IV. Infinity-IIs were rare in the UNSC fleet. They had the armor of a Halcyon class cruiser, the weapons of the Infinity-I, and the shields of a CCS battle cruiser. A major improvement on the original design.

On the bridge was captain George Michaels. George Michaels had fought the Covenant during the Great War. He was the first officer of the UNSC Dashing Loyalty when she was in service.

Along with the captain was the first officer. Lt. Jeff Hicks. Jeff was at his
station manning the console. Captain Michaels walked over to his station.

"Hicks."
Jeff stood up and saluted the captain, "Yes sir?"

"I have word with the Admiral you could be getting transferred after you've had a word with him."

"Where sir?"

"The UNSC Infinity."

UNSC Alpha base October 1st 2728

Jeff was dressed in his navy blue dress uniform. It was adorned with war medals from his service on the Wrath of Ares. He was standing outside of the admiral's office... His son's office.

He walked into the office. It was similar to that of a early 2000s presidential office. The desk was made of Oak wood, the walls were covered in pictures of Spartans and Hicks's family. On an office chair behind the desk was his son Admiral Derek Hicks.

"Welcome to Rio, dad." Hicks said.

"Thanks sir."

"No need to call me sir we're father and son we don't need formalities."

"Ok so I hear you might just transfer me to your flagship the Infinity."

"Indeed, but not just that but I needed someone close to command the ship. My girl was killed on the last mission. She was also the captain. I need someone loyal and battle hardened to take command." Hicks reached into his pocket and pulled out a small black case. "After spending this many years on that old Infinity-II ship you obviously deserve it, dad."

Jeff opened the container and it revealed the familiar insignia of the four stripes and single star. The insignia of a captain.

Jeff looked up at the admiral; mouth open.

"You'll get the paper work later. Welcome to Rio, Captain."

Rio de Janeiro housing facility Alpha-Y

The well "Immigrants" from Equestria were given an apartment in the Rio housing district. It was the most expensive and prestigious building in the housing district.

There room had a white wall with swirly gray patterns. There was a couch, a plasma screen TV, a treadmill, and a bookshelf in the living room. In the kitchen was a food synthesizer which turned energy into food. There were six rooms which was the maximum room size in any room in the building. Each room was a master bedroom complete with a mini fridge and bathrooms for each of them. This was the top penthouse apartment. The sky-deck was at the second floor of the apartment it was above the cloud of smog and you could see the actual clouds. You could see the Amazon bio-sphere from there.

One of the largest projects ever done was the construction of the massive bio-dome covering the entirety of the Amazon rain forest. It was devised to protect the jungle from the pollution that is still being cleaned up from the year 2670. 2670 was the year that all power was provided from fusion and fission nuclear generators across the planet. You know to clean the air. Massive air purifiers were in place to clean the air of CO2, Methane, ect. the project would be complete in 2750 and the bio dome will be removed.

5 hours later UNSC Infinity in orbit

"The refit was completed as of 0500 hours. We haven't seen hide or tail of The Vice admiral." Hicks told his dad as they walked the corridors of the ship. "A couple of Spartans disappeared too. Samborn and Ant's brother Nacho."

"I have a bad feeling about those two." Jeff replies. "Samborn being an x-rebel herself and Brown well he's been doing Psycho and Jet ever since you two got back from the fallout universe."

"We have word that the UNSC Pure of Heart has left the system and it was not authorized to leave. Your first mission is to track down that ship and see what's up. Good luck, dad."

"I'm gonna need it."
Hicks and Jeff walked into the turbo lift to the bridge.

"Why?"

Pow.

The captain fell to the floor dead.

Standing above his body was the Vice admiral Brown, Mandi-666, and Ignacio-479.

The first officer ran towards Anthony with a knife but Nacho shot him with his shotgun. His blood splattered across the terminals.

"Bridge is secure, Admiral." Samborn said.

"Admiral?" One of the surviving bridge crewman asked.

"I am the new Admiral." Anthony pulled out some psycho and injected it into himself. "So good."

He pulled out his M6D and shot the crewman in the head.

"Take us out Mandi we're gonna finish what you started."

"Yes sir."

"And we'll shove it in Hicks's face."

UNSC Infinity recreation bay
August 30th 2728

Anthony was at the bar in the recreation room chugging down a bottle of Brazilian ale. He grabbed a Men-tat out of his pocket and chewed the candy tasting drug and swallowed.

"What the hell are you doing?" Hicks was behind him. "You're on duty and are you eating a Mentat?"

"What's it to ya?"

"Doing drugs and drinking on duty is a capital offense! I could court marshal you for this!"

"Look I've been doing this ever since we got back! And you never had a problem with my drinking before!"

"I need you to be on your best since we're out in the open fighting AIs and equestrian spirits! I can't have you dying on these stupid drugs and alcohol!"

"You know what then?" Anthony balled his fists and punched Hicks in the face.

Blood trickled from Hicks's mouth. Security guards grabbed him but theres not much you can do to stop a Spartan.

(Maximus the warrior- freeplay music)

Anthony tossed one of the two guards against the wall. And kicked the other to the floor. He motioned to Hicks to fight and held up his fist.

Hicks was ready to fight and he tripped Anthony and kicked him into the bar. Anthony got up and slugged Hicks. Hicks punches him in the head and he punched back.

Anthony grabbed Hicks's arm and flung him across the recreation room plowing a few tables as he landed. Hicks rolled to the side before Anthony could land on him. He rapidly punched Anthony back into the bar.

Anthony picked up an Empty bottle of Brazilian ale and slammed it on Hicks's head. Hicks falcon punched him in the face and kicked him off of him. Hicks kicked him in the face and Anthony fell onto the entire bar's contents of alcohol filled glass bottles.

Anthony picked up a chair and threw it at Hicks. Hicks caught it and threw it to the side and charged Anthony. He did a Ninja kick and he landed in the pile of glass that was the bar.

Ten security agents came in and zapped Anthony with a riot zap-o-matic. He fell to the floor in convulsions.

"I want him court marshaled. He's no longer my vice." Hicks wiped off his uniform. "Take him to the brig for the remainder of our journey home."

"Iyiyiyiyiyiyiyiyiyiyiyiyiyiy iyiyiyiyi!" Anthony said as his hair perked into what looked like a mad scientist's.

The security guards put electrified cuffs on him and dragged him to the brig.

The bartender looked at the mess.

"Dammit." He picked up a broom and started to sweep up the alcohol soaked broken glass.

UNSC Infinity
October 2nd 2728

"Athena, what's the vessel's heading?" Jeff asked.

"It seems to be on a direct course to Equestria ETA 2 hours."

"Full speed activate the RSN capacitors."

"Yes sir captain."

The normally blue slipspace vortex turned into every color known to man at once and the Infinity jumped to record speeds.

"RSN transition complete, ETA 30 minutes to Equestria."

"Give me a hologram of the Pure of heart."

A hologram appeared in the center of the bridge of an Infinity-III class vessel.

"An Infinity-III?"

"Yes the UNSC Pure of Heart service number UNSC-1471417Y-777122. The Infinity-III vessels have some of the more modern shields and modern plasma weapons. It was basically a prototype of the Infinity-IV. The problem with the design is that it includes Alpha shield technology instead of Theta. Alpha needs to drop a large portion of the shields to fire the weapons while Theta can collapse a small portion of the shield for a split second around the projectile or plasma." Athena explained. "It's based off the Covenant bubble shield and the calculations of the freelancer AI Theta."

"Anything else I need to know?"

"The Infinity-III class also has lower yield plasma weapons than us. But it holds an advantage: Triple MAC guns. The MAC guns were added as a nod to the UNSC Iroquois from the Great War. It also sports Twin PAC guns but they don't have the same power of our PAC gun. We also have more plasma beam projectors than them."

"Why are we anticipating a battle?"

"Reports say that Spartan Anthony-769 escaped from military custody 2 hours before the Pure of Heart left orbit and Mandi-666 and Ignacio-479 have not reported in."

"You assume that these Spartans have commendeered the ship?"

"Yes Anthony's personal pelican the 'Bootleg' entered the vessel a half hour before the ship left orbit."

"Did you report this to the Admiral?"
"Of course."

"Where is he now?"

"In his quarters."

"Tell him we'll be there in a half hour."

"On it."

Athena's avatar dissolved. Jeff looked at the view screen. It was filled with the plethora of colors that developed in RSN slipspace.

4. Homecoming

Chapter 4: Homecoming
UNSC Infinity en route to Equestria
October 2nd 2728

"You mean we're going home?" Dash asked Hicks.

"That's right. We'll be in orbit in about 10 minutes." He replied.

"Can we have a homecoming party?" Pinkie asked.

"No the Pure of Heart is 2 hours away and the odds are that they're coming here to finish what Samborn started."

"We'll be ready this time." AJ said.

"Yes we will. Get in your armor girls there will be a battle on home turf."

"Admiral Hicks to the bridge." The voice of Athena boomed over the speakers.

"I gotta get to the bridge; get in your armor."

Hicks exited the girl's room and went into the nearest bridge access lift. The ride up was speedy. Of course it was a TURBO-lift. The door slid open and Hicks stepped onto the bridge.

"We've arrived." Athena said.

On the view screen was the luscious world of Equestria. A single supercontinent is what dominated the planet surrounded by sparkling blue Ocean. All of the scars left by Samborn were gone. They're survivors and it only took a month to rebuild an entire planet.

"I wonder if this is what Earth looked like back in the early years." Elizabeth asked.

"I dunno maybe." Hicks replied. "Contact Celestia, tell her that an unknown ship is inbound and that there may be ground fighting."

"She's replied: She says to send down Twilight and her friends. She's prepared an Arial strike force in the past month. They'll be supporting the Celestial's when the fighting begins."

"Good, O'Brian get us directly over Canterlot and launch automatic defense satellites."

"Yes sir!" O'Brian replied.

"Sir Contact slipping in." Shar de Yeh reported.

"What? We should have had at least two hours!"

"Detecting RSN signature. It's the UNSC Shining Armor."

"We're getting a signal from her." Elizabeth said. "She's here to assist in defending Equestria. She says that a small fleet has formed and is being led by the Pure of Heart."

"I heard from ONI that negotiations with the rebels had begun to break down but not like this. We've got 3 fleets heading to this position." Shar said. "If we lose here this will escalate to a complete civil war."

On the view screen a ship exited RSN slipspace. It was an Infinity -IV class. On the side
painted in Black letters across the grey hull was the words Shining Armor.

"I wasn't aware that there were any other Infinity-IVs in service." Jeff said.

"Got out of dry-dock an hour after we did." Hicks explained. "We're basically invincible now."

"Not quite." O'Brian said. "The first fleet is comprised of the Pure of Heart which is an Infinity-III and an old Infinity-I called For the love of Pete. The rest are destroyers and cruisers. About 50 ships. Fleet 2 is being led by an Infinity-II the Ghost of Reach and also contains another Infinity-III the Tyrant. The rest of the fleet is comprised of Destroyers and Frigates about another 50 ships. Fleet 3 is the worst. A modified Infinity-III the Red Mist and another refitted Infinity-III that has been upgraded to support Theta shields and has Twin MAC and PAC guns. The rest of the fleet is comprised of Corvettes and Destroyers. In all about a 150 ships. If we win the rebels will not have a fleet and there cause will die. If they win... Civil war."

"We can't let the UNSC to fall into civil war. We will crush them 1 fleet at a time." Hicks said.

"The girls are requesting use of a pelican." Jeff said.

"Let them use it. They're gonna need some ground defense because those corvettes will drop an invasion force. Scans have shown large amounts of Titanium ore are buried within that planet. If they win they'll strip mine the whole planet and build a huge fleet."

"Alright confirmed Pelican 748 ready for dust off." Jeff said.

Pelicans went to and fro from the Infinity carrying mounted guns and warthogs. Pelican 748 landed in Canterlot at 3000. As an added bonus the UNSC had a full supply of battle saddles for the defense.

"Enemy fleet ETA now." Athena said.

On the view screen the space behind the Shining armor shimmered and erupted in multi-
colored light. An Infinity-III materialized from the portal along with an Infinity-I.

"There here. Send communications."

"No response."

"They're charging weapons!" O'Brian yelled.

Plasma lashed from the Pure of Heart and struck the Infinity's shields. The shields
shimmered blue with ripples. The Infinity retaliated with plasma cannons that cut through the For the Love of Pete's shields and hull.

The For the Love Of Pete's shields collapsed in red plasma. The hull boiled and cracked under the heat.

"Get another volley ready."

"Aye sir!"

The Infinity dished out some more plasma and it enveloped the bridge in super heated
energy; boiling the bridge into twisted white hot metal. The ship then sped towards the
Infinity.

"They're at ramming speeds!"

The For the Love of Pete smashed into the Infinity. The shields rippled under the pressure of the impact and glowed orange. At this range all weapons could be killing blows. The Infinity fired it's PAC gun. The small in comparison Infinity-I shattered into ionized and melted metal alloys.

"The Pure of Heart is firing another round!" Athena yelled. "Sir they are launching dropships."

"Alert Celestia. They're about to have company."

5. The defense of Equestria

Chapter 5: The defense of Equestria
Canterlot Castle, Equestria
October 2nd 2728

"You've got dropships incoming." The voice of Athena boomed in Celestia's mind.

She went to her balcony overlooking the castle courtyard.

"We've got company! Prepare the wonder-bolts!" Celestia's voice boomed throughout the Castle.

"Suit up!" Dash ordered her friends.

The CELESTIAL armor built itself up from the combat boots that the mane six wore. It
progressed to enclose there entire bodies horns and wings as well.

(In our final hour- Go Radio)

The pelicans appeared in the sky.

"This time we're ready for ya!" Dr. Whooves pressed a button and activated an alarm that alerted everyone in Equestria of the impending strike.

Dash rocketed off of the platform Canterlot was built on. The sky erupted into a plethora of color as her famous move the 'sonic rainboom' was performed.

The first of the 20 pelicans opened fire onto Canterlot tower with rockets. Dash reacted to this bio flying onto the oncoming vessel, smashing the windshield, and grabbing the pilot and tossing him out. The pelican swirled down and crashed into the Everfree. The remaining pelicans fired there chain guns at Dash. Her advanced agility multiplied by the CELESTIAL armor she avoided ever single shot and shot off rockets from her battle saddle.

Suddenly the wonder-bolts zoomed by and smashed through the next wave of Pelicans. They used ramming techniques to destroy the fleet of pelicans with armor similar to the royal guard's. The pelicans shattered and fell to the forest.

The remaining pelicans took evasive maneuvers and landed at the base of Canterlot mountain. About 40 troops were deployed varying in species, race, and guns.

Twilight jumped off of the mountain and landed in front of the crowd of soldiers with cat-like reflexes. Her Plasma repeater battle saddle armed and was enhanced by her magic.

A rain of blue energy poured out of the dual plasma weapons. The soldiers shielded there faces but were dropped by the plasma. A few dived for cover and fired there DMRs in precision. Her shields compensated. Suddenly Applejack fell out of the sky and pulled two energy swords out of her hooves.

She stabbed them into the nearest soldier's chest. He fell to the ground with 4 symmetrical holes in his body.

A rocket flew from the sky and impacted a trio of troopers. There dead bodies went flying in opposite directions. RD flew overhead and winked to them inside her helmet.

Now the area was littered with pelican remains and dead bodies.

UNSC Infinity in orbit around Equestria

The plasma impacted the already weak shields of the Infinity. The shields flared red.

"Shields at 20%!" Athena yelled.

"Fire all weapons." Jeff ordered.

"Belay that!" Hicks contradicted. "Clip there engines!"

Tom was hesitant but he fired precision plasma beams and they carved a hole in the coolant pipes of the Pure of Heart. He fired a torpedo at the thrusters. The ship's engines melted into a white hot mass of metal.

"Sir, why the hell did you contradict my order!?" Jeff yelled at Hicks.

"I want to see who's aboard. If there's any chance of saving them."

"How are you gonna save them?"

"We have the elements of Harmony Dammit! We have the power to either freeze someone in stone or turn them into a tool of good or hell those are the only exploits I've seen using the elements. Plus there are most likely UNSC survivors on board. I thought you could think ahead dad, but I guess I was wrong."

Hicks stormed off the bridge and into the turbo lift. The entire bridge crew were frozen in awe of what had just taken place.

"The rest of the enemy fleet is coming through. I suggest we vaporize them."

"I agree let's just stay on the task at hand."

The Infinity came about. Its shields restored. It fired its plasma beams and cut through the incoming fleet like wet paper. A cruiser fired its MAC gun but the shield absorbed it and fired a volley of plasma torpedoes. The ship burst into an explosion of ionized metal. Archer missiles left the Infinity and impacted the nearest destroyer.

The Infinity charged into the massive fleet of old UNSC starships guns blazing. Each ship was obliterated one by one. Every so often a ship might hit the Infinity when the shields were down but the outer structure was that of a Halcyon's.

Suddenly 3 cruisers formed a line and at full speed rammed into the Infinity's prow and fired plasma rockets.

"Hull breach in the primary weapons storage! PAC discharging inside of the ship!"

The front of the ship erupted like a nuclear bomb. Blue energy flared and boiled away the hull.

"The PAC gun is completely gone! MAC offline and all ammo reduced to shrapnel!"

"Remind me to remind docking to add another 7 feet to the hull!" Jeff retorted.

"The primary weapon's storage is gone. Med bay is leaking atmosphere! Weapons control is also offline. Plasma beam emitters A-C are gone. Armory A has suffered an atmospheric leak. Airlock is offline. Major structural damage."

"No shit."

"Using our new energy to matter processor installed last refit we can make complete repairs in 2 days or we can get back to fighting power in about an hour."

"Just fix the damn ship."

"Next fleet will arrive in 3 hours. I can get weapons back but the hull will take a few days. I can also fabricate a PAC gun and give us minor hull in that area."

"Do it. O'Brian you have the bridge."

"Yes sir."

6. Pure of heart

Chapter 6: Pure of heart
UNSC Infinity hanger bay
October 3rd 2728

"You going to see if he's over there?"

Hicks stopped putting on his armor and looked up at Fernando.

"I'll take that as a yes." He said.

"We've known each other for 200 years! If he is over there I'm shoving him put the airlock!"

"He might be able to be persuaded."

"You of all people should know that we shoot to kill. We give traitors no second chances."

"And that's our fighting spirit. But you of all people should know that this method of traitor removal leads only to hatred and sadness."

"When did you become a Jedi?"

"I just know we've been a team for 200 years. We fought everything from Covenant to poachers to Innies to Equestrian spirits. And we always came out together as a team! I know Anthony can be a tough SOB and an addict at that but nobody is unredeemable. Look at Samborn. She's hated you since training! But we forgave each other."

"Only with a blast of magic or energy or radiation whatever the hell the elements are!"

"I know but think about her."

Hicks cringed.

"Your training is what took her away from you."

Hicks picked up the nearest rocket launcher and thrust it i to Fernando's arms.

"So how are we gonna do this?" Fernando asked.

"Do you have to say that every time?" Hicks said with a smirk.

UNSC Pelican Sigma 142
en route to the Pure of Heart

Adorned in armor was Hicks and Fernando. Hicks preferred the original MJOLNIR mark VI helmet and armor design though upgrades to the mark 9. Fernando however wore the Hayabusa mark VI design.

Hicks held his MA5B that he had recently painted cerulean. Fernando had his trusty golden desert eagle, a rocket launcher, and a Spartan laser.

The pelican zoomed pass the last Cruiser as the Shining armor blew it apart with its plasma beam projectors. The ship exploded as the beam sliced through the engine core.

The Pure of Heart had been sliced in the coolant tanks and its primary thrusters. The engine core was exposed. The blue glowing core was leaking its drive plasma. The hanger was melted open by the plasma fire it sustained. The pelican squeezed through the twisted metal and landed in the hanger.

The pelican opened and the 2 Spartans jumped out. The hanger was covered in soot and warped metal.

"We'll be lucky that the door works." Hicks said.

"This is why the Infinity-IV is better than III! Better firepower!"

Hicks tried to open the door via terminal but no.

"This is not how you infiltrate enemy ships!" Fernando then slammed with all of his might into the door.

The door caved in but there was another door on the other side.

"An airlock."

Hicks tapped the controls and activated a force field where the door they just destroyed was so that they wouldn't be blown into space when they reached air. The door opened and standing there was Nacho.

"D-Don't move." Nacho stammered.

"Take us to your leader!" Fernando said.

"You haven't changed a bit in these many years have you Fernando." Nacho said.

"Last I saw you was in the Harvest campaign."

"Big things happened there."

"Yes they did." Hicks said.

"Anthony's gone mad!" Nacho said. "He's got a portal onboard getting endless Psycho,
Mentats, and Jet. And I don't even want to mention what he's been doing to Samborn."

"Good God." Fernando said.

"Now how do you feel about redeeming him?"

"He's got a grudge against you." Nacho said. "That fight back on the Infinity, he feels as though he needs those drugs to at optimum performance."

"He's a Spartan! He's one of the smartest and strongest in the fleet!"

"Yeah no. He just likes being high. And he'll keep being so unless you destroy this ship, his army, and him. He's made up his mind and he'll kill you, the UNSC, and anybody who stands between him and his drugs."

Hicks's intercom crackled to life.

"Son, the next fleet has arrived you might want to take care of whatever your doing and get out of there because when the plasma starts a' flying you might get caught in the crossfire."

"On it dad." Hicks looked over to Nacho. "Take us to him."

"Yes sir!"

They walked to the turbo-lift and entered it. Most of it was wiped out from the damage done to the ship.

"Most of the crew mutinied when we fired on the Infinity. The end result led to Anthony sealing himself in the portal room. Thing is no living biological matter can pass through it. So he sends weapons through and drugs come out. The portal is in the armory. What's weird is if you go though the portal it will remove dead skin cells and it's kinda Awesome!"

The turbo lift stopped. When it opened it revealed a red painted door. With the blue words 'Armory' painted on it.

"I have the cure to sealed doors." Fernando pulled out his Spartan laser.

He crouched on his heels and charged the laser as it was aimed at the door. Pure red energy pulsed at the tip of the weapon and it lashed at the door. The door turned into orange goop and exploded.

When the dust cleared they saw Anthony in his armor minus the helmet injecting himself with some psycho, while inhaling some jet, at the same time chewing on some Mentats, and drinking some Brazilian ale.

"Anthony!" Hicks yelled.

He turned around. His eyes were bloodshot from the massive amount of toxins in his system.

"Well, well. Admiral Hicks." He said in a slurred voice. "You come to fight or surrender?"

"You're a traitor. If you come quietly I can let you off with just being court marshaled."

"No I'm sorry but I won't be complying today."

"So let's go!" Fernando said.

(Famous last words- My chemical romance)

Anthony slammed his EOD helmet onto his head and pulled out a sword. An energy sword.

Hicks and Fernando readied there guns. Hicks added a clip of modern rounds that usually were used in modern assault rifles but Hicks preferred the MA5B for combat.

"You think I wasn't expecting you?" He pulled out 2 bottles of Brazilian ale that had thermal charges taped to them. "I call them love bombs."

He tossed them at Fernando and Hicks and they exploded into fire and heat. Hicks and Fernando ignored it and opened fire on Anthony. The rounds were reflected by the
MJOLNIR's shields.

Anthony tossed a plasma grenade at a pile of filled bottles of Brazilian ale. The resulting
explosion caused Fernando to go flying and strike a support beam; cracking the visor of his helmet.

"Kick his ass." Fernando tossed him the Spartan laser.

Hicks picked it up. Fernando pointed up to the support beam.

Of course! The armory was held by only a 3 meter thick steel beam. Hicks charged the
powerful weapon and it discharged blowing the beam apart.

"Uh oh." Anthony said.

Hicks grabbed a jetpack and another for Fernando. The armory erupted and flew away from the ship. Shrapnel and debris flew around the void. The portal flickered and died.

The battle raged as the Infinity and the Shining armor fought the oncoming fleet. Plasma
beams, missiles, and 50mm cannons discharged from Each fleet.

(Falling towards the sky- Jeff Williams)

Anthony had grabbed a jetpack and a plasma repeater before the entire armory split off from the Pure of Heart. He flew towards his enemies with his repeater repeating.

Fernando fired his Desert Eagle and Hicks was spraying bullets at the jet-packing Spartan. Anthony's repeater fried and in front of him was a shotgun. He grabbed the shotgun and blasted the soldiers flying towards him.

Hicks spotted a sniper rifle drifting through the debris. He grabbed it and zoomed in on Anthony's head. But he crashed into Hicks and kicked the gun from his hands. He wrapped his hands around Hicks's throat. He must've been high cuz the suit compensates for choking.

Hicks grabbed his M6D sidearm and shot it into Anthony's chest. But Anthony grabbed his sword and stabbed it into Hicks' arm.

"Fuck!"

Fernando came from behind Anthony with his Desert Eagle. He shot it through Anthony's visor. But the his shields were still up. Anthony blasted Fernando in the face with a shotgun.

Fernando's shield bar dropped to nothing and the suit started to beep. He pulled out his energy dagger and tackled Anthony while jet packing. The momentum forced the group back into the Pure of Heart. Right into the airlock.

Fernando then proceeded to stab Anthony in the stomach with his energy knife.

"Agh!"

The room pressurized and Anthony dropped his helmet to the floor. Blood dripped from his face.

"After all we've been through this is how it ends?"

"You chose this fate." Hicks said as he was holding his arm.

"No you did! This would have never happened if you just let me go about my business."

"You had no business doing drugs and drinking while on duty. You didn't have to invoke
rebellion either."

"Just get it over with or are you just gonna let me bleed out?"

"No, I've got a better fate for you."

UNSC Infinity in orbit around Equestria

Anthony was brought to the brig after he was stitched up and stripped of his MJOLNIR armor. He would most likely be sentenced to the Japanese maximum security prison bottom level. Which was not exactly the funnest place on Earth.

Hicks got those twin burn holes in his arm stitched up. Meanwhile the Infinity and Shining armor had mopped up the fleets that followed. Some of the vessels were salvageable. In the battle Azure had captured the Ghost of Reach by boarding it. The rest was plasma flying.

On the surface the invasion force was deflected by Celestia's Arial strike team "The Wonderbolts" the mane six also assisted and did most pf the work but nopony complained.

The rebels were decimated by the Infinity and Shining armor. All hands were lost except the surviving crew of the Pure of Heart who were saved by Hicks, Fernando, and Nacho. After the battle Nacho was moved to Aqua team so he was no longer a lone wolf.

"How are those reports?" Fernando was leaning in the doorway of Hicks's office. "We won the battle and here you are wasting your life away behind a desk. You're a Spartan. The best of the best. The strongest and smartest."

"I know but..."

"No buts. Well maybe a few. Come on let's go to the recreation deck Pinkies throwing a massive successful battle party."

"I really should..."

Fernando grabbed Hicks and took him to the party.

8. Aftershocks

Chapter 8: Aftershocks

Neon lights. A crowd of people dancing. Loud music. Yep it was a party.

Fernando dragged Hicks and let him go in the crowd of people.

"Come on you've been cooped up in that office far too long!" Fernando started dancing.

"Ok but only this time."

Hicks began to awkwardly dance.

"No like this express yourself! Let the music flow through your body!"

Fernando began to move his legs, arms, head, and body in ways Hicks couldn't compute.

Hicks shrugged. Fernando face palmed.

"Well I can tell your not a party type of guy."

Hicks waded through the crowd and walked over to the bar.

"What can I get you, sir?"

"1 Nuka-Cola Quantum."

"Sorry fresh out got normal Nuka or Rum and Nuka."

"I'll just have a Pepsi."

The bartender slid over a plastic bottle of Pepsi.

"That'll be 2 credits."

"Put it on my tab."

"You don't have a tab."

"Put it on Anthony's tab."

"Ok."

Hicks popped the plastic cap off and drank the fluid.

Fernando emerged from the crowd.

"Why don't you have a drink?"

"Alcohol tastes like Anthony's ass."

"And you know how Anthony's ass tastes how?"

"Shut up."

"I'm just fucking with you jeez."

Suddenly a window broke and Hicks heard the alarms go off. Anthony fell from the ceiling with a BR55HB battle rifle. He discharged it into the nearest crewman. The man fell to the floor covered in his own blood.

Fernando quickly reaching for his sidearm.

His desert eagle was missing.

"Huh?"

He looked over to Hicks who was holding the weapon pointed at Anthony. Without armor Anthony would be unshielded and even with the enhanced bone structure a bullet could tear through his skull and kill him.

With such precision Hicks aimed the gun and slowly pulled the trigger.

Everything went into slow motion. The bullet traveled inches from about 20 fleeing party goers. Anthony turned his eyes widened as the bullet struck him in the forehead.

Anthony fell to the floor. No pain. But he was dead.

Hicks tossed Fernando his gun back and fell on his knees.

UNSC Memorial field Planet Reach
October 5th 2728

(Boulevard of Broken dreams- Green day)

Everyone was once again gathered in memorial field. Even though Anthony's end was caused by his betrayal he was still a Spartan.

"We are gathered here today to say goodbye to a man although he betrayed us in the end he was still a Spartan and a friend. He fought the Covenant. He fought the Flood. He fought the Innies. He helped us fight Discord. He saved lives by taking them. He kept secrets by stealing them. He drank, he smoked, he did drugs. He was Anthony Brown. Spartan 996. And the Vice admiral. In the end he chose illegal substances over his friends, family, and career. Would anybody like to say a few words?"

"I would sir." Fernando said.

He walked up onto the platform in front of the crowd.

"Hello? Yes? Okay. Anthony. He was my team member, my friend, and as close as a brother ever came for me. But in the end it was this weapon that killed him." He pulled out his desert eagle and showed it to everyone. "This weapon I found on one of our first missions back on Harvest. Our ship had been attacked by the Covenant and I picked this up on his dead body. It's had a lot of upkeep. But back to Anthony we were rivals like brothers should be. We joked a lot we screwed with Derek it was fun! But those days are over now. Thank you for letting me tell you."

Next was Nacho.

"He was my brother. The war kept us apart. While he fought on Harvest I fought on Madrigal. He started drinking back in training. He found a way to escape the compound every night to go out in the woods and make moonshine. One night I followed him and had a drink with him. My team died during the augmentations so I never had the benefit of a team during the war. After it was over I went home and ate a pizza with Anthony. When we were young back before we were Spartans Anthony and Derek always picked on me but it was all just for fun and then we would go play video games. That's all I have to say."

Jeff had a few words to say.

"I always thought that boy was trouble. I thought he was the one who killed my boy. The clone of Derek died at the age of 15 from what the doctors thought was food poisoning. Anthony's died at 17 from leukemia. I had always thought that Anthony had poisoned my son's food. It wasn't until 2553 that I learned about the Spartans. Damn proud of my boy for making it this far and I approve of what Halsey did even though she took my son away. But I still thought Anthony was a trouble maker. And I was right. But before the drugs and alcohol he was a pretty good man. I'm done here."

Then Samborn.

"I barely knew Anthony. The only time I saw him was when he was with Derek. He had a crush on me back during training. I was with Aqua in the Harvest Campaign. Anthony was there as we retreated from the city and the tower fell on me. But what he did to me on the Pure of Heart was inexcusable. I'm glad he's gone."

She stormed off the stage.

"Does anybody have anything else to say? No? Okay. We have said our goodbyes to this man."

The casket stood up and entered the stone monument. The doors sealed behind it and it had his name on it. His epitaph read: 'Anthony Brown, Spartan-996. Survivor of the Great War. One whose vices consumed him and destroyed all he served.'
