CHAPTER 1
Kevin was an average young boy of about 12 years old. He pretty much lived a normal life, but didn't have any friends. He was mostly a nice boy with a kind heart, and would often help out his mother with her flower garden in their backyard. His father was in the military, and was away on assignments. Kevin wasn't very popular at school, but he wasn't picked on by others either, so he was pretty much okay with it. He would often send emails to his father, which the father would kindly reply. So to Kevin his life was pretty good.
During that night, Kevin was in his bed, holding a book in his hands with a table lamp on by his side. 'Robin Hood' was one of his favorite stories, and even though he read the book like five times already, he was still enjoying it.
He heard a knocking on his door and said, "Come in!"
The door opened and his mother stepped in with her robe on saying, "It's time for bed Kevin."
"Okay," he mumbled.
He set his book down on his bedside table and switched off his lamp. "Night Mom."
"Goodnight Kevin, sweet dreams," said his mother as she closed the door to his bedroom.
Kevin laid there in bed until sleep finally overtook him, and was now snoozing in his sleep, unaware that he'll get quite the surprise when he wakes up.
Kevin's eyelids slowly began to open, but quickly realized that something wasn't right. He slowly sat up, and took in his surroundings. "Where am I?" he wondered aloud.
He appeared to be in an area with trees around him, perhaps a forest or just a small woods. It was hard to tell. Kevin took his fingers and tried to pinch his cheek, to see if this was all a dream, but unfortunately, he was wide awake. 'This can't be real.'
After a couple more minutes of taking in his surroundings, Kevin slowly stood up and got to his feet, but quickly realized that he was still in his pajamas. Kevin blushed with a bit of embarresment, but other things were on his mind, such as, "Where am I?" "How did I get here?" "How do I get back home?"
Kevin stood there with those questions in his head, wondering what could have brought him here. "I hope someone can help me?."
Suddenly Kevin heard something from behind him, which sounded like hooves. The 12 year old quickly turned around, and his eyes shot wide open.
Standing about several feet in front of him was a pony, but this pony was something that Kevin had never seen before. It had a lavender colored coat with an indigo mane with a pink and purple streak. It's eye's were huge and purple, and on its head was a unicorn's horn.
The strange looking unicorn like pony was looking at Kevin with a disturbed yet curious look, and asked, "What are you?"
Kevin nearly jumped, and was even more nervous of the pony. 'It talks!."
Letting his fear get the best of him, Kevin turned from the pony and ran away from it.
"Wait, come back!" the pony yelled after him.
Kevin did not listen, and continued to run further away from it, until suddenly the pony appeared in a flash of light about several feet in front of him. "I just want to talk!"
But Kevin's fear prevented him from listening, and he quickly turned on his heels and ran in another direction.
"Sigh!"
Kevin continued to run, trying to get away from the talking pony, but in his panick he forgot to look at where he was going, and before he knew it, his face was met with a low branch, and was already on his back unconcious.
The purple pony then appeared right beside Kevin in another flash of light, and saw that he was on the ground unconscious. "Oh boy."
2. Chapter 2
CHAPTER 2
After being knocked out cold, Kevin slowly began to gain consciousness. 'What a dream." Unfortunately, once Kevin was fully awake, he realized that he was not in his bedroom.
Once again he took in his surroundings, and saw that he was lying in someone's bed in what looked like the inside of some sort of tree. He was immediately snapped out of his thoughts when he heard the rattling of a doorknob.
Kevin felt kind of nervous as he looked at the lower floor where a wooden door slowly opened, and the thing that stepped in was the same lavender colored pony that he had encountered earlier. "Ah, I see that you're finally awake," she said and walked up the steps towards him, "How are you feeling?"
"Um…" Kevin said a little unsure.
Twilight quickly noticed this and said, "You don't have to be afraid, I don't bite."
"Okay?"
"Why don't I introduce myself, my name is Twilight Sparkle," she said kindly to him, "What's your name?"
"Um, my names Kevin," he replied while feeling a bit uneasy.
"Nice to meet you Kevin."
Before Twilight could say anything else, Kevin interrupted by saying, "Not to ruin this nice introduction, but, where am I?"
"Oh, you're in Equestria."
"Equestria?"
"Yes, and right now you're in a town called Ponyville."
"So, is everyone in Ponyville a pony?"
"Not just Ponyville, all of Equestria. And it's not 'everyone,' it's 'everypony,'" Twilight corrected him.
"Oh, okay."
"So, any other questions?"
"Yeah, how did I get here?"
"I think that's probably my fault," said Twilight with an embarrassed expression on her face, "As you can see by my horn, I am a unicorn, and unicorns have the ability to perform magic."
Kevin listened very carefully, and was intent on hearing the answer of why he was here.
"Well, I decided to try out a new spell that allows the user to gaze into other worlds, but unfortunately it sort of backfired, and next thing I saw outside my window was a bright light in the woods nearby. Luckily it was nighttime, so everypony except me was sound asleep. The next morning I went to investigate the light and I found you. So I assume that the spell must have accidentally brought you here."
After hearing what Twilight said, Kevin had a shocked expression on his face, and had a hard time believing at what Twilight had just told him. "So this isn't all just a dream or some kind hallucination?"
"I'm afraid not," said Twilight with sympathy in her voice.
"But, how do I get back home, and how would my mom feel when she sees that I've gone missing?" Kevin wondered as a tear began trickling down his cheek.
Twilight quickly noticed this and placed a hoof on his shoulder. "Hey, it'll be alright, I promise I'll do whatever I can to help you get back home." Twilight said with a sincere smile.
"You really mean that?"
"Count on it."
After Twilight removed her hoof from Kevin's shoulder, he wiped the tear from his eye and got himself out of bed and followed Twilight down the steps and out of the room. Once they both had exited the room, they were walking downstairs into a circular room that looked like a library.
Once they had entered the library area, Kevin noticed a strange creature standing on a ladder placing some books onto a shelf. Kevin focused on the creature and noticed that it was a small purple dragon with green spikes and a yellow underbelly. Kevin could not believe his eyes. 'An actual dragon!'
After the small dragon placed the last book onto the shelf, he carefully stepped down the ladder, and turned to see Kevin standing next to Twilight. "Hey Twilight, all done placing the books back on the shelf in alphabetical order."
"Thank you Spike," replied Twilight.
The dragon now known as 'Spike' looked at Kevin and held his claw out to him, and said, "Hi, I'm Spike, Twilight's number one assistant."
Kevin felt a little uneasy at first, but could tell that Spike was definitely a friendly creature, so he carefully took Spike's claw and shook it. "I'm Kevin."
"Nice to meet ya Kevin, I saw Twilight carrying you in here using some levitation magic, and I was pretty surprised when I saw you."
"Spike!" Twilight scolded.
"What?"
"No, it's okay Twilight. I don't mind." Kevin said.
"Well, okay," Twilight said, then turned her attention back to her little assistant, "Spike, take a letter."
Spike then quickly grabbed a parchment and a quill and waited for what to write down.
Twilight cleared her throat and said, "Dear Princess Celestia, I was working on a new spell that allows the user to view into other worlds, but I'm afraid that the spell I was performing backfired, and it brought a being from another world into ours. I found him in white tail woods, and brought him back to my library. His name is Kevin, and he is a human. I'm going to do whatever it takes to help him return back home. I also hope that you welcome him into Equestria. Your faithful student, Twilight Sparkle."
After Spike finished writing down on the scroll, he rolled up the parchment and took a deep breath, and to Kevin's bewilderment, Spike blew green flames onto the scroll and caused it to magically disintegrate into thin air.
Kevin wanted to ask about the green fire part, but instead he decided to ask a more important question. "So, Equestria has a princess?"
"Yes, Celestia is our great ruler along with her sister, Princess Luna," Twilight answered.
Before Kevin could say anything else, Spike let out a big belch of green fire and a scroll materialized into the air, and landed on the floor. Spike picked up the scroll and unrolled it, and read it to out load for Spike and Kevin to hear. "Ahem, My dearest most faithful student Twilight, I'm quite surprised that one of your spells has brought a new being into our world. I must admit that even I have not heard of a human before, but next time you might want to practice on your magic some more before trying a spell like that again. In the meantime, try and help Kevin get settled into Ponyville awhile. I have a feeling that he will be staying with us for quite a while. Also tell Kevin that I welcome him into Equestria, and hope that he makes it back to his home world, too. Your mentor, Princess Celestia."
After Spike had finished reading the scroll, Twilight looked at Kevin and said, "Looks like you'll be staying with us for a while."
"Yeah, I guess so," Kevin said with his head down.
Twilight got a sympathetic look on her face and looked at Kevin with a sincere smile, and said, "Not to worry Kevin, as Princess Celestia's faithful student, it will be my responsibility to look after you, and to help you find a way back to your home world."
"Thanks Twilight," said Kevin with a small smile.
"I have an idea!" Spike interjected, "Why don't we show him around, and even introduce him to all our friends?"
"That's a great idea Spike," said Twlight.
"Um, okay," said Kevin feeling a little unsure.
"Well then, let's go," said Twilight as she headed towards the front door, with Kevin and Spike following.
"Oh, I almost forgot," said Twilight as she stopped at the door.
Kevin looked at Twilight with a confused look and the lavender pony's horn became surrounded in a purple aura, and next thing Kevin saw was a book that was being levitated towards them that was also in the same purple aura. "I also found this in white tail woods, and I assume it's yours?"
When Twilight showed the front of the book to Kevin, the young human could not be happier. "My Robin Hood Book!" Kevin said with excitement.
Kevin took the book from midair and held it to his chest. "Thanks Twilight."
"It's no big deal," said Twilight.
They then left through the entrance of the library and began the tour through Ponyville.
