“NIGHTY RUN!” Night Light remembered the words that were basically burned into his mind by his sister as she helped him to escape. His small legs pumped furiously as he ran towards his house, his mind focusing on one thing that he thought could help them. He was the last free one left, all his friends, and family had been captured by the group that literally just showed up. He didn’t know who they were or what they wanted but one thing he figured out was that they were organized and had a plan. They wouldn’t have been able to trap his mom and his aunts if they weren’t.

Now here he was, the last colt standing, galloping for his life as his house came into view. He was glad the door was left open since it made it easier not to stop. He squeezed through the gap into the doors not minding the pain as his flank collided with the edge of the door. His mind was on his sister Starburst, how she threw herself at their attackers so he could escape. As he got to the library he hoped she was okay and that they didn’t hurt her, he felt that way about all his friends and family. He wanted to just hide and cry but he knew he didn’t have time. With the level of coordination that this group somehow pulled off he knew Starburst was only buying him time, he knew she probably thought different but he was smart enough to realize when they were on the losing side. That’s why he had to bet everything one this one shot.

He ran up to the biggest bookcase he could find while scanning its shelves frantically for the particular book he was looking for. HE found it near the bottom, thankful that his mom hadn’t reshelved everything in some different way for the third time this month. He used his magic to quickly pull the book out and float it down to him. Snatching it when it was close enough he looked around to make sure he was alone before he headed off into the house. He had never told anyone and wasn’t even sure if his mom or dad knew but his room had a little secret. A small door in the wall of the back of the room that led into a small little crawl space. As he hurried into his room he opened the book to the exact page he remembered seeing before. He grabbed a scroll and a quill and hurried into his little crawl space. Setting everything down he went over the page and set to work.

Seconds ticked by as he scribbled what he need onto the scroll, pausing every time he thought he heard something in his room. When he was finished he looked over the last part of the spell, he knew this was probably the most risky part. He would send of the scroll and the use of magic would probably get him found, but he had to do something.

He stood up checking everything over before he took a deep breath and began the spell. His magic enveloped the scroll and he did everything the book said. Before he knew his magic cut off and the scroll was suspended in midair in a sphere of magic. Weird symbols danced around the sphere before in a flash the scroll disappeared leaving char marks on the floor. Night Light smiled as he knew had done it, the spell had worked, now all he had to do was wait. That feeling lasted until the wall literally exploded next to him. HIs smiled faded as the blast almost knocked him over. When the dust settled he looked up only to come face to face with a sneering unicorn.

“Well well well what do we have here? What have you done little boy?”

Starburst was not having a good day. Everything had started out well enough with the usual hijinks from her friends. But then the attack started, a group made up of ponies, changelings, griffons, and even a dragon had swarmed into town and began capturing people. She had briefly seen her mom teleport into town and she thought that everything would end up fine but apparently this group had come prepared. Now she was captured along with all of her friends in the middle of town. A few feet from her was her dad along with all her friend’s parents who were tied up and put in a large cage. Uncle Spike was a foot away from them tied down to the ground and restrained in chains she had never seen before. And a few feet from her dada and their parents was her mother Princess Twilight Sparkle. She was trapped in a dome of magic that the attackers had sprung on her. She lay in the middle of the dome with a look of fury being pointed at whom Starburst assumed was the ringleader of this group. Starburst could see him standing just outside the dome looking smug as he looked down at her mom.

But although this was a bad situation Starburst was not thinking about herself but instead about her brother. When the attackers had found them she immediately without thinking fought back and told Night Light to run. She could see he was panicked but he listened and ran as fast as he could. She wondered if he was safe, if he had gotten out of Ponyville of if he was still hiding somewhere in town or at their house.

“Has anything changed?” a voice snapped Starburst’s line of thought, her friend annie sat against her for comfort. Normally the blind filly would have preferred to sit against her coltfriend T, but him and his sister Claire had received the same treatment as their father while their mother, Rarity, was now gagged after the attackers had had enough of her complaints.

“No Annie, nothing’s changed,” Starburst said and felt her friend huddle closer to her. In a situation like this she didn’t mind. All of them were scared, nobody had ever expected that something like this could be done to them or to the town.

“Captain! We found the last one!” Starburst blood ran cold as a unicorn walked into the middle of town floating her brother and a book in a magic bubble. Her brother tossed and turned trying to escape the grasp his captor had on him to no avail. Starburst felt like crying a little seeing as her distraction seemingly only delayed the inevitable, if only she was stronger. “Found him in the big house in a little hidey hole along with this,” The stallion motioned to the book. “Apparently he cast something,” it was then that Starburst saw the leader finally move, for the longest time he had just stared down at her mom but the mention of Nighty casting some spell caught his attention.

Night Light grunted as the Unicorn dropped him from his magic and let him hit the ground with his book thumping to the ground beside him. He rubbed his side the he landed on before he noticed a shadow over him. He looked up and came face to face with another stallion, the leader judging from how the unicorn that captured him talked to him. He say the cold stare looking at him and audibly gulped. The stallion looked at him and then to the book, he picked up the book and flipped through it a couple pages at the time.

“Which spell?” The stallion looked to the unicorn who shrugged at the question. Night Light flinched when the stallion looked back to him. “Well would you like to tell me which spell,” The stallion asked leaning down to look Night Light directly in the eyes. “Just so you know it won’t do good if it was any type of message spell, we put a barrier around the whole town so no word gets in or out unless we want it to. That’s why there no army of guards or princesses coming to rescue you right now, they don’t even know anything is wrong. So how about you save me the trouble kid and tell me which spell you tried to valiantly save the day with,” Night felt a bit of despair when he heard about the barrier but if he read the spell right then he didn’t have much to worry about, although he thought it would have been here by now. Maybe he just needed to buy some time.

“Oh you know...the one in the book,” Night Light blurted without thinking, his response causing the unicorn to snort before the stallion cuffed him in the back of the head.

“Yeah yeah kid real cute. You know if this dumbass was in charge he might let you off the hook for that remark. But me on the other hoof,” the stallion grabbed night by the scruff of his neck and threw him to the ground, Night Light grunted as he rolled, it hurt but not enough to make him cry or anything. He ended up a few feet from his sister, her friends, and his friends. All of them pressed against the bars of the cages they were in as he got back to his feet

“Nighty! Are you ok? What did you do?” Starburst called out to her brother but the stallion punched the cage shaking it and silencing her.

“Yeah Nighty. What did you do? Why don’t you tell me?” The stallion stepped in between Night Light and his sister pushing him a bit farther away from the cage.

“I told, you didn’t I?” Nighty said panting a bit, the pushing, prodding, and poking were starting to hurt. “I used the one in the book. You know? The one with the words?” he smirked at the stallion, noticing the look of shock coming from his sister.

“Why you little!” the stallion cocked his hoof back and Nighty closed his eyes. At the distance he was he heard the stallion’s movement and braced for the pain but when a noise he never heard came from behind him he didn’t know how to feel but he was still prepared to be hit. But a second later when the pain never came Nighty was confused.

“Well that’s not very nice. Who hit’s a kid?” a new voice caused Nighty to open his eyes. He looked up to find that the stallion had swung at him but his hoof was blocked by another. Nighty followed it and found that behind him was another pony, and a glowing blue portal. He looked to be a colt the age of Starburst. His fur being a dark blue with his tail and mane being a shade lighter, each having a stripe of red going down them. He wore a pair of blue lensed sunglasses but from where Nighty was standing he could see the colt had yellow eyes.

“GRAH!” Nighty never even noticed the Griffon come from behind the colt, bearing a sword he brought it above his head and swung down. The colt didn’t even bother moving as it came into contact with his head. Nighty’s eyes went wide when the sword collided with the colt’s head and then crack with the sound of a branch being snapped in half. The broken blade seemingly bounced of the colt’s head and then embedded itself in the ground. Looking back up to the colt Nighty say him close his eyes and give a sigh. The colt flexed his arm drawing the stallion in before he pushed on the stallion’s hoof and sen the stallion sliding back, his hooves digging three small trenches in the ground.

“Excuse me for one second,” the colt said the stallion before turning to the griffon. “Dude seriously? I come in here having a cool moment and you just decide to berserker up and swing a sword at my head? What gives?” The colt said confusing the griffon who was still looking between the colt and his now broken sword. “You know what don’t even bother trying to explain, you’ve pissed me off. Nighty watched as magic circles appeared on the colt's shoulders and with a flash Nighty saw something amazing. The colt was still standing there, almost the same as before but now he had eight legs. He looked over to his mom in the dome to find she was now standing up looking at the colt with wide eyes. But before he could begin thinking about it The colt took two forelegs and cocked them back and then with speed he punched the griffon before he could do anything about it. The griffon went flying from the force landing in a crumpled heap far away. Night watched as the attackers went on the defensive and immediately surrounded the colt. “Really is that how you want to play it?”

“Shut up you freak, don’t think you’re so tough because you beat one guy out of a whole army,” the stallion shouted at the colt

“Kinda small number for an army, more like a guerilla fighting force,”

“I’m just making a point you idiot. Now tell us where you came from freak,”

“From my house. I got this note which I believe came from that kid over there so I came to help,” the colt held out a scroll which Nighty immediately recognized as the one he sent.

“And you think you’re going to be able to stop us all on your own?”

‘Well…” the colt said a bit bashfully while cocking his head to the side, a gesture that infuriated the stallion.

“We trained to take down an Alicorn and you think that a single freak like you is going to be able to take us all down?

“Well when you put it like that it sounds crazy. And I’m going to sound really cliche about this but… What makes you think I came alone?” The colt said and Nighty jumped slightly as another portal opened next to him. Slowly another pony began to emerge from the portal and Nighty’s jaw dropped at what he saw. Her coat was beige and her mane and tail were the color of grass and had a purple stripe going down hers, she also happened to be an Alicorn. She looked around at the situation nodding to the colt before looking down and her eyes lined up with Night Light’s.

“Oh hey there cutie, you the pony we’re here to help?” Night Light found the only thing he could do was nod dumbfoundedly. She turned to look at the attackers and he noticed she had something on her back just below where her wings were, it was red and it looked like it had some kind of moving parts but besides that Night Light couldn’t figure out anything else. “Well don’t worry things are about to get a lot better,” the filly said to him as she reached for the thing on her back. She grabbed it and then with a quick flick of her hoof she brought it forward and it expanded. Night Light ended up looking towards the sky as it extended and the small thing he saw turned out to be a scythe that was as large as his uncle Spike.

The stallion looked at the Alicorn filly who had just appeared and was now brandishing a large scythe. Where had she and the freak come from how did they get the message when they had set up the barrier, and how had he never heard of these two ponies before. These were questions he wished he had answers to but he didn’t have the time to think about it as he saw that his men were slowly becoming unnerved. Ponies appearing out of mysterious portals, a sword breaking over a colt’s head and said colt having eight legs and apparently incredible strength, and a new Alicorn wielding a large weapons were horrible things for morale. He had to do something to keep the situation under control. Keep it together soldiers, it’s just one Alicorn and a filly at that, we captured a fully grown one so this shouldn’t be too tough to-

“Oh we’re not all here yet,” the filly interrupted the stallio and watched him sputter before more portals started opening. Ten More portals opened and Nighty couldn’t believe the ponies that began coming through them. A pegasus filly with a mane that reminded him of Aunt Rainbow Dash. a yellow Earth Pony colt that had a pair of nunchakus with him. A pink Earth Pony filly who reminded him heavily of Aunt Pinkie Pie. Another Earth Pony filly with a long blonde mane and to him was really pretty. Over by the Dragon two portals had opened and the first to come through was a Unicorn Filly whose coat was white as snow with a mane that followed. And following her the second portal grew and from it came another Dragon. Nighty was sure that if his jaw hadn’t hit the floor yet it definitely had now. This Dragon was a dark green with white spines protruding from his back that went all the way down to his tail. He stood on two legs and looked down on everybody that was in the area. After the dragon four more ponies followed. The first being another Unicorn filly who appeared besides him and the scythe wielding Alicorn. She had a blonde mane and white fur which seem to sparkle with some kind of blue color.

The last three to emerge were just as surprising as everyone that had come out before them even though all three of them were Alicorns as well. One of them reminded Night Light of his cousin Valiant except that she had different color hair. The second reminded him of Princess Luna except for that his mane was a vibrant red. And the third he had to say reminded him Of Princess Celestia but besides that she was definitely the most different of the three since her wings were different from anything he had ever seen. Instead of normal wings her’s looked like the were made of energy with little wisps waving back and forth in an invisible breeze.

“Ok now we’re all here. Now you can begin you big morale boosting speech to all your little henchmen. Or would you like to do us all a favor and surrender?” the colt said to the stallion who was now fuming and grinding his teeth to the point of nonexistence. The Stallion huffed for a second before fixing the colt with a glare. Without any hesitation the stallion charged at him and the colt just shook his head as he turned to face the charging stallion.

“I will not be beaten by some FRE-” The stallion started to yell as he went to attack the colt but the colt moved faster and before the stallion knew it the colt was above him and the last thing he saw was four hooves raised above him covered in some kind of flame before the were swiftly brought down on him.

Nighty watched as the colt moved quickly and used his four front legs to smash the stallion into the ground with earth shattering force. Night didn’t know if he should feel surprised anymore when he saw flames surrounding the colt's hooves and resting on his forehead. “I’m was really getting tired of you using that word,” the cot sighed as he walked away from the small crater and the crumpled twitching form of the stallion. “Mop em up guys,” The colt made a gesture with his hoof and all his friends seem to get the idea. They all looked at the attackers and slowly each began advancing. That attackers for all their credit didn’t start screaming right away. “Say kid what’s your name,” the colt said as he came back over to Night Light and sat down beside him.

“N-Night Light,” he sputtered a little bit as he was still in awe of everything that had happened all within the last five minutes.

“Nice, I’m Gaia’s Fury. You can just call me Gaia, they all do," He pointed to the group that was now basically laying waste to the enemy while everyone else looked on.

“And who are they exactly?”

“Well the one with they giant scythe? She’s my sister. The rest are friends and family,” Gaia told him as they both watched the fight in front of them

Twilight Sparkle at first was not having a good day. Her town had been attacked by some kind of coalition group and they had been able to trap her with some kind of ancient magic spell and she remained powerless as her friends and family were basically hunted down and captured themselves until the only one left was her son Night Light. She remained hopeful that he would be okay until they had dragged him to where she was. Apparently he had used some kind of spell and were questioning him about the book. Twilight recognized the book but for the life of her she couldn’t remember any spell being in it, it was a book about old Equestrian mythology. She nearly started crying when the one stallion who apparently led the group pushed Night Light Around and was prepared to give him anything when Night Light was about to get hit. But then started to take a turn as a ponies started appearing out of portal to help them and in relatively short time had beaten them and were now untying and free her friends and family. She smiled when after Starburst had been freed that she immediately rushed over to her brother and was seemingly crushing him in a hug. For the amount of time those two didn't get along they still had a great bond with each other, even if she couldn’t get them to use the acronyms that she and Shining Armor used. She felt like she could tear up a bit before she noticed that Night Light and the mysterious eight legged colt were walking towards her. Unfortunately for her she was still trapped in the dome. They both smiled at her before the colt made a gesture indication that she should move back. She followed his instruction but wasn’t sure what he was trying to do, this dome could only be dispelled by the pony or ponies who cast it. She tried to shout out a warning as the colt cocked back his right hooves and threw them forward and to her surprise broke through the dome which shattered after being broken like that.

“MOM!” Night jumped her before she could do anything else but she was happy enough and returned the hug. Gaia watched the scene with a smile before he realized he was being stared at intensely. He turned around and then lowered his gaze slightly to find Starburst looking at him. She opened her mouth to say something but never got the chance as someone else took the opportunity

“Ok not that we aren’t really grateful and all but do you think we can get some introductions and all cause we got some questions. The first being who you all are and where you’re from the second being, Why do you guys sorta look like some of us,” Rainbow Dash floated overhead looking down at the mix of ponies both new and familiar.

“Well he’s the Bookkeeper duh,” Night Light said as he pulled away from his mom and walked over to the book which had remained forgotten till now. He sat down and opened it up to a specific page and held it up as best he could for everyone to see. “I remember reading about this sometime ago, he’s an old Equestrian myth that comes to help ponies in times when they are really in trouble. I remembered that while reading it there were even instructions on how to summon him and I figured hey if Nightmare Moon and Discord were once thought of as nothing but myths then why not try this...it was my best shot at trying to help,” Nighty looked away embarrassed before he heard Gaia laughing as he walked over and mussed up his mane causing him to laugh as well.

“That’s some pretty smart thinking there Nighty, you definitely are a Sparkle. But you’re wrong on one thing though, I’m not the bookkeeper, none of us are. We do know him pretty well though,”

“How so? Twilight asked as she stepped up to where everyone was grouped up,:

“Well Hope and I are his kids,” he said pointing to the the alicorn who as now shepherding the former attacker into one of their own cages with her large scythe. She heard her name and looked over and waved.

“WHAT!!!” a large group of ponies shouted and all the ponies that had come with Gaia just laughed at the reaction.

“Hey i’m not kidding look I even got a picture. He reached into one of the saddlebags that everyone had seemingly brought with them and he pulled out a small photo. “See everyone strained to look at the photo but once they had the evidence seemed clear although it was still surprising. It was a picture of both Gaia and Erina next two what looked to most ponies looking as a weirdly dressed hairless kind of monkey. And while that was surprising what was more of a surprise was the other occupant of the photo.

“Hey why is Princess Twilight in the photo,” One of Starburst’s friends Whirlwind asked out loud for everyone,

“Well of course my mom would be in a family photo,” Gaia said nonchalantly and wondered why so many ponies were looking at him with wide eyes. “What? Did I say something weird?” he said and before he knew it Starburst was in his face.

“WHAT DO YOU MEAN SHE’S YOUR MOM! SHE CAN’T BE YOUR MOM SHE’S MY MOM! MOM!” AFter Starburst was done yelling at Gaia she turned to her mom who looked as confused as everyone else.

“Well Duh the Twilight form this universe is your mom just like the Twilight from our universe is my mom,” Gaia responded once again rolling his eyes when all he got this time was thousand yard stares. “Ok most ponies don’t know but my dad travels what is known as the Multiverse. He gets sent and goes to multiple universes to help. But in our universe he married our mom and she had Hope and I. Just like all you guys-” ha paused to look gesture and Starburst and her friends, “we’re all like alternate versions of each other.

“Um, excuse me for interrupting dear,” Rarity strode forward this time. “ But if you say that your father got Night Light’s message, then why exactly are you here doing his job?” she asked and now it was Gaia’s turn to look embarrassed.

“Well uh...you see the thing about that is...he is...sick,” He winced slightly saying it not wanting to damage his dad’s image.

“Sick?” Rarity asked

“Yeah, he hasn’t been feeling good for awhile so when he went to come here mom stopped him and made him stay put in bed. Hope, Me, and the rest of us were on a break and were enjoying a nice day in our Ponyville and Mom came to us asking if we could take up the torch.

“Well that was very nice of you,” Gaia watched as what appeared to be a half dragon half pony hybrid walked up beside Rarity, she boring a nice resemblance and Gaia could guess her parentage. “I’m Crystal Clarity by the way. Claire for short”

“Nice to meet you Claire, glad to see something's can stay the same between universes,”

“I beg your pardon?”

“Pony Dragon hybrids, kinda thinking that I know in at least two dimensions that Uncle Spike got the mare, he pointed over to the large dragon and the filly next to him. “The big one is G and the little one s Flair, twins just like Hope and I. Aunt Rarity said she always used to think about having foals, but then after they were born she said she was fine with just two,” Rarity look at the size of G and shuddered.

“Oh poor me,”

“Those were her exact words as well,” he said which caused Claire to laugh and Rarity to blush.

“Um Gaia was it?” Gaia turned to find starburst looking at him less angrily than minutes before.

“Yeah Starburst right?” he responded not quite knowing everypony’s name yet. She nodded and simply held out a hoof for him. He gave it a look before figuring out that this would probably the best form of an apology and thank you. He hoof bumped her and the both gave an awkward nod before two ponies glomped both of them.

“Aww well isn't that just cute. By the way my name’s Doppler?”

“I’ll say, I didn't think i would get to see Starburst do something cute like that, I’m Candy!”

Both Starburst and Starburst locked eyes as their respective friends talked to each other as the leaned against them for support. Their thoughts seemed to be in sync and they spoke in unison. “Oh my god there’s two of them!”

Hope watched as she sat with Twilight and was surprised when Flash Sentry sat down beside her and gave her an affectionate nuzzle. “Oh so you married Flash Sentry in this universe huh?

“You sound surprised?” Flash replied with a raised eyebrow

“Oh I didn’t mean anything by it. I’m just naturally curious. I’ve been told i have my mother’s sense of science, and intellect, and wings and horn, and also gullibility,” Hope scratched the back of her head in embarrassment before she seemed to pick up something and look off into the distance.

“I can definitely see that. Can i ask you a question Hope? Do you think you could go over your friends parentage? I seem to be able to recognize at least one parent but i think I’m in need of some help,” her request went unnoticed for a second or two before Hope seemed to snap out of her gaze.

“Oh sure thing M-Princess Twilight,” Hope had to stop herself from calling this world’s Twilight the wrong thing, even though she had a feeling that she wouldn’t refuse if she did. “Although I think it’ll be best to wait till everyone is assembled

“Wait what do you mean-” Twilight stopped mid sentence when she noticed the flow of magic around the area. Several large scale teleports went off and suddenly the area was surrounded by Royal Guard as well as a battle ready group of royals.

“Villains! Surrender now and lay down your arms and release your...prisoner? Princess Luna began to shout but her olume and words died when she took a look at the scene. Um would somepony like to explain what exactly is going on?”

“Yes please cause this is now a bit too confusing for even me,” Discord scratched at his head as he looked at the ponies he knew conversing with ponies who looked like ponies he knew and other ponies he definitely did not know.

“I rarely say this, But I agree with Discord,” Princess Cadence said as she walked up with Shining Armor and her son Valiant Heart,”

“Try living with him,” came four replies from Celestia, her son Illusion, Luna’s husband Supernova, and their Daughter Nidra.

Well now that practically everypony is assembled I think it’ll be a lot easier,” he said before looking over to Night Light. “Hey Nighty wanna help me with all the introductions?

finally decided to write this! I originally was going to start this once i got a few more chapter of Their New Life in Equestria out but i decide to just say "fuck it" and do it, screw not explaining somethings in my story i'll do it later. If you've never checked out Kilala97s deviant art page I suggest you do it I love it. I sent her a mesasge of fimfic a long time ago saying i wanted to do something like this but i don't know if she just never used it or saw the message cause she never responded...well anyways i'm doing this cause i want to, it's a story that i've thought about for long enough and now it begins. Since i set up the character of my first fic as a traveler of the multiverse i thought it would be a good idea if i had a fic where alternate universes came into play
